The Acer Swift 3 SF314-512 is a great portable work tool for studying, working, and just living. It’s a great model for students, freelancers, those who work remotely, on the go, or periodically change locations: from office to home, from home to coworking, etc. With a nice design and metal body, the laptop weighs only 1.25 kg and doesn’t take up much space in a bag or backpack, so it’s perfect for being always at hand. Thanks to the fact that Acer Swift 3 is powered by 12th-generation Intel processors, its performance is on top and with a considerable margin. In addition, the laptop should be praised for a good set of connectors, including Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 6E support, a nice display, good battery life, fast charging, and, of course, an affordable price. Yes, this is not an option for toys, but it is a very decent solution for work issues. The Acer Swift 3 SF314-512 is a great portable work tool for studying, working, and just living. The Swift 3 is undoubtedly one of the best Alder Lake laptops that we’ve seen. It has a good design and a fully aluminum build. Acer has also included a great display and a lot of performance while maximizing battery life. The only caveat about it is the input devices, but it feels like a decent sacrifice, considering the rest of the package that you’re getting.

Much like in the past years and from what I can tell based on my time with this sample, the 2022 Swift 3 14-inch looks like a solid compact and lightweight laptop for school and work and general everyday activities, an option for those of your looking for value for your money in a simple and well-balanced product. It’s still priced competitively, yet that’s no longer an advantage over the competition, with many other similar options now available in the sub $1000 space. Instead, the carefree design with good inputs and IO and without any significant deal-breakers, alongside the balanced performance/thermals/noise proposition, are the major selling points of this generation. At the same time, the overall looks, the battery life with the 56 Wh battery, the audio quality, and the screen quality with the 300-nits IPS matte panel as the single available option, might not be up to your demands, as some of those competing devices offer more now in these areas. All in all, even when accounting for all these aspects, I still feel this is surely worth considering in your decision...

All in all, the Acer Swift 3 (2022) definitely looks like a promising laptop, though it remains to be seen if it’s one of the best laptops this year. There aren’t any major changes in terms of design compared to last year’s model, but the ones we get are definitely good. I appreciate the cleaner look of having the fingerprint reader built into the power button and the upgraded webcam, and the new processors promise a lot more performance. Of course, we’ll have to reserve our judgement on that until we have the final product, but we’re optimistic.
