As this MacBook Air 2020 review shows, this model made it easier to find the right MacBook. Its comfortable keyboard, amazing sound quality and lengthy battery life made the Intel the MacBook Air the default MacBook for most — and that stayed true for the M1-based MacBook Air that succeeded it.

Though Apple have had to cut some minor corners in the process, the Apple MacBook Air 2020 MWTJ2LL/A is still one of the most competitive deals on a Macbook Air we have ever seen.

This year's MacBook Air fixes a lot of our complaints with previous models. It comes with new, more powerful, innards, a drastically improved keyboard and more storage space. However, the screen is a little muted and battery life is average. Still, if you're an Apple fan looking for an affordable MacBook, we can heartily recommend the new MacBook Air – something we've not been able to do with previous versions.

So, who should get this laptop? The MacBook Air 2020 is a good recommendation for first-time MacBook owners who want the most affordable option in the 2020 lineup and will use it for light to moderate tasks. It becomes a more enticing recommendation if you already own a few Apple devices like an iPhone. But for creators who are looking for something more powerful to handle heavier workloads, we’d recommend getting the MacBook Pro instead.

If your need is regular computing with portability and reliability, then the MacBook Air is really the device you should look at. Yes, I know a lot of you will feel the price is beyond you, but I’ve now convinced the longer product life of this device will more than make up for that in the long run. Those who need more power for high-end tasks and a larger screen should look at the MacBook Pro instead. In the realm of the thinnest, lightest and most portable computers, the MacBook Air still blows the competition away.

Battery life disappointment aside, it’s never been clearer as to why the MacBook Air remains Apple’s most popular laptop. The 2020 model is the one we’ve been longing for too, particularly in this newfound era of working from home where a comfortable keyboard, desk-to-sofa portability and a clear, crisp screen are at the top of our feature wish-list.

The 2020 Apple MacBook Air has an amazing design, great keyboard, a best-in-class trackpad, and plenty else to love. It's not for the power-hungry, but it makes for an amazing experience when you favor general quality over raw performance. It will do well for most people unless you require some real brawn.

Apple's 2020 MacBook Air has some pretty great new features like the new Magic Keyboard, the 10th-Gen processors, incredibly good graphics power and an awesome price, but now that the 2020 MacBook Pro is out, things have changed.. We take a look at how good the Macbook Air is and we take a look at a pretty big flaw that causes us to have doubts about the value of the new Air. We show lots of performance charts and tests to show you guys the differences. We also let you know who the new MacBook Air makes sense for.

If you ask me, all things considered, the only thing I wished it had was support for Wi-Fi 6. Wi-Fi 6 routers are getting plentiful these days and with the iPad Pro, iPhone 11, and iPhone 11 Pro already supporting this new wireless standard, it makes sense only for Apple’s newest notebooks to do the same. But that’s just a small blemish on an otherwise fantastic notebook. This is easily the best MacBook Air yet.

That said, for people that can upgrade a bit, the 2020 MacBook Air with a quad-core i5, 8GB RAM, and 512GB SSD is a fantastic option for its $1,300 street price. It’d be even better if doubling the RAM didn’t add another $200 to the price, but it’s the one I’d buy.

The price tag is good and the keyboard is excellent. For those shopping at the low end, the 2020 MacBook Air is the true successor to the famous old Air, and the one you should buy today to replace your ageing old model. It also makes it a no-brainer choice for first-time or student MacBook buyers.

The 2020 MacBook Air has been out for almost three weeks, and while we initially thought it would be a great alternative to the MacBook Pro because of its new quad-core CPU, we discovered a MASSIVE flaw with it. Instead, there's the 13" MacBook Pro which is great for performance. However, there are a few reasons why you shouldn't buy this model right now, and just wait for the refreshed 13" MacBook Pro, or maybe even the 14" MacBook Pro with Mini-LED display.

What my experience says does not work, is attempting to do things on the cheap. Skimping saves you dozens or maybe hundreds of dollars. Being unable to work productively will cost you thousands.

In this video, we do a detailed review of the 2020 MacBook air after two weeks of thorough testing and use. We have an i5 Quad-Core model with 8GB of RAM and though it scored really high in Geekbench 5 it has issues when we do various tasks, and especially test Cinebench R20 and Gaming with Unginie Heaven. We tested fan noise and temps, video editing, photo editing, web use, watching videos and much more and packed a ton of info into our long term review so if you enjoyed it let us know!

The MacBook Air is easier to recommend than before, thanks to a lower starting price, double the base storage and, most importantly, a redesigned keyboard that’s actually pleasant to type on. Other brands offer either a full-size USB port or longer battery life but all told, the Air is a well-rounded machine that gets most things right.

Take a 2019 13-inch MacBook Air. Now take the brand-new 2020 version. Put them next to each other and try to tell the two apart. You can't; they're identical. Until, that is, you open both lids. It's a subtle thing, but if you look closely there's a new look and feel to the keyboard. The flat, island-style keyboard is slightly raised on the new model versus the older one.

But really, the most important thing is that, for the first time in several years, I feel confident saying that most people in the market for a Mac laptop can just buy a MacBook Air and expect it to competently and reliably do most things for a long time to come. That’s a big win and a solid return to form.

Lisa Gade reviews the 2020 refresh of the MacBook Air, with a 13.3” IPS Retina display, Magic Keyboard with scissor keys (goodbye Butterfly keyboard!), and Intel 10th gen Ice Lake CPUs with Intel Iris Plus graphics. The laptop ships with macOS Catalina, has Touch ID with a T2 chip and 2 USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports. It’s available in 3 colors and your choice of Core i3, i5 and i7 processors. We review the quad core i5 model. Starting price is $999.

It seems that Apple has checked off most of the boxes on its fans' MacBook Air wish list. You get the fantastic Magic keyboard and Touch ID in the beautiful svelte chassis we've come to expect from the brand. Plus, for $1,299, you can get a quad-core 10th Gen Intel CPU, a first for the series. And the laptop lasts over 9 hours on a charge.

If you don’t really need a new Mac laptop, maybe you should wait to see what happens with ARM. But if you’re someone who has been holding out for a new MacBook Air—and ideally one without that infamous keyboard—I wouldn’t recommend that you wait. This is the MacBook Air that you’ve been waiting for.

Based on these early impressions, however, it seems the 2020 MacBook Air is — yet again — the kind of ultraportables. It’s amazingly thin and lightweight, lasts all day, is fast enough for common tasks, and is a joy to type on again.

I need to spend more time testing out the MacBook Air (2020), particularly when it comes to pushing its hardware to the limits. I plan to use the new Air as my main laptop over the next few days to see if it’s really capable of performing the same tasks my current mid-2017 13-inch MacBook Pro is.

MacBook Air users will be happy to have more power in a familiar, lightweight package. The new keyboard is good news too. Also, they’ll enjoy the peace of mind that it uses 100% recycled aluminium and 100% recycled tin in the circuit board solder.
