If you are looking for the new Apple MacBook Air, you can choose between integrated graphics with 7 and 8 cores. But how big is there performance difference in everyday situations and does the additional GPU core impact the surface temperatures?

The MacBook Pro M1 is easily one of the best 13-inch laptops money can buy. You get blazing performance and epic battery life for your $1,299. And yet the speed gap between the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air with M1 is not that great. There are some reasons to splurge for the MacBook Pro with M1, though. You get better sustained performance for larger tasks, because the MacBook Pro has a fan and the Air does not. And I do appreciate that the MacBook Pro has a brighter display and a better GPU for its opening price. If Apple threw in two more Thunderbolt ports I think the Pro would be an easier sell.

The MacBook Air isn’t cheap; that’s a known fact. However, it is the cheapest MacBook you can get and it offers powerful performance that surpasses many Intel-powered laptops. If you’re wondering whether it’s worth to switch from older MacBook Air models to this new M1-powered beast, my answer is go for it and don’t look back, because I didn’t and I’m loving it.

This MacBook Air with M1 review has shown why its amazing endurance and shockingly good speed combine to take the MacBook Air to new heights. If only it packed a couple more ports and slimmed down its bezels, the new MacBook Air might be 5-star perfect. The Dell XPS 13 has much smaller bezels, but it trails behind the MacBook Air in performance and battery life. You could save $650 with a similarly configured $999 Asus ZenBook 13, and get a few ports too, but you'd be sacrificing performance and around an hour of endurance. For those who live and work in the Apple ecosystem, though, the new MacBook Air is the easiest buying decision you've had in ages.

The MacBook Air M2 is the better laptop, but the MacBook Air M1 is close behind. If you can afford to spend $100 or more depending on sales, the MacBook Air M2 is the better pick. It has a separate charging port, a brighter screen, a better webcam and keyboard, significantly more battery life, and slightly more performance power. The MacBook Air M1 is the better choice for those looking to save a bit of money. It’s older, so it’s more likely to go on steep sales, and you wouldn’t be sacrificing much. The MacBook Air M1 has almost 12 hours of battery life and a bright, color-accurate 2K Retina display.

Alright. So I guess that’s all you need to know about the state of the M1 Macbook Air in 2024. And like I said in the very beginning, I think this thing is very much worth it even to this day if you want an entry-level laptop that’s easy on the backpack, super powerful, has a battery that lasts all day, and nails all the basics. I mean… the fact that limited I/O choice and poor camera quality are its only major drawbacks says a lot already. Even though Apple has a couple of newer Macbook Airs with a slightly faster processor, a newer design, and a better camera (among other upgrades), the M1 Air is in a league of its own. Things could’ve been different if the newer models also came with more memory or more storage in the base configuration, but no. Apple still thinks 8 gigs of RAM and 256 gigs of storage is enough for most people, which makes the M1 Macbook Air all the more attractive.

The MacBook Air M1 may be a couple of years old now, but the revolutionary M1 chip was so speedy to start with that it remains one of the faster chips on the market at this price point. This makes the M1-powered MacBook Air a superb option if you don’t fancy stretching your budget to bag yourself the newer M2 model.

With a premium design that's identical to the iPad Pro and a vibrant 10.9-inch screen, the iPad Air nails the basics. The internal hardware has picked up a big boost thanks to the custom M1 silicon, and there's 5G connectivity here. You also get a new 12MP camera at the front that changes viewing angles automatically to ensure you're always in focus during video calls, and iPadOS 15.5 has an app ecosystem that is unrivaled on Android. Best of all, the iPad Air 2022 connects over USB-C, and it will get at least five OS updates in the future.

The Apple MacBook Air with M1 takes your idea of what a MacBook Air is, and throws it in the recycling bin. Yes, it's still got the same iconic wedge aesthetic, but Apple Silicon makes it far more powerful and capable than ever before — destroying Intel's CPUs and making it a MacBook Pro competitor. Thus, a new era kicked off for the MacBook Air — one with Pro-grade power that challenges Intel-based Windows PCs — and often beats them. As a prospective MacBook shopper myself, I'm happy to say that the new MacBook Air offers serious performance gains over its predecessor, and many more hours of battery life as well. This MacBook Air with M1 review will show why this is one of the best laptops, period. And as of October 2021, it has some new siblings, as Apple unveiled the new 14-inch MacBook Pro 2021 and 16-inch MacBook Pro 2021. Most of the apps I've used on the MacBook Air are still the Intel versions, which macOS Big Sur uses Rosetta 2 to translate for working on its ARM-based processor.

Apple has made the thinnest and slimmest significant jump forward in performance with the MacBook Air M1 (2020). Apple’s M1 chip in the new MacBook Air is an achievement. I pushed this laptop and its powerful Apple-made processor to its maximum capacity for a week of testing, and they exceeded my expectations on practically every level. I’ve also used M1 in the way that a MacBook Air was designed to be used: as a daily computer for work. The battery life appears to be excellent, and the fanless build ensures the laptop runs quietly. The M1 SoC, like Apple’s iPhone SoCs, is based on the ARM architecture and offers significantly higher performance as well as power efficiency than older Intel CPUs. This also means that non-native software that has not been updated to run on M1 will run in the emulated mode. We’ll go over all of this in more depth later in this MacBook Air M1 review. Let’s start with a look at what you have in India if you want to buy the MacBook Air M1.

Yes, I’m praising an Apple product for its price. And that is because the M1 MacBook Air starts from RM4,399 only. Seriously, it’s quite difficult to find a thin and light Windows laptop that has similar build quality with this level of performance and battery life at this price range. I’m sure a lot of people will ask – “hey, it only starts with 8GB RAM, how is that sufficient?” To that I’ll say, you don’t have to worry much. macOS does a fantastic job managing RAM usage. Though with that said, we still ordered this particular M1 MacBook Air with 16GB RAM instead because we are going to use it to edit some simpler videos as a backup machine.

This Mac Air M1 is no doubt an excellent slim laptop. The new M1 processor is powerful yet very energy efficient so it can give you an incredibly long battery life. This chipset also operates at a ridiculously low temperature so it does not need any fans which also means it performs in absolute silence. Its competitors do not stand a chance to match this phenomenal portable laptop. Furthermore, it is made from aluminum yet very lightweight and has a beautiful retina display and a world-class keyboard. Apple has just not revolutionized its MacBook Air lineups with its M1 chip, but also turned the laptop market upside down!

Apple once again did it! This device is a top-notch ultrabook, and it isn’t merely a bluff. Almost everything is sublime, design, keyboard, trackpad, battery life, build quality, screen, and of course the M1 chip performance. In addition to all of these, this model is the base model, the cheapest MacBook you can get for now. The Space Gray 2020 M1 13-inch Apple MacBook Air MGN63LL/A is light and thin, yet it is capable to blow away the competitors by a mile, clearly the winner.

If you’re in the market for a new Mac, it certainly makes sense to opt for an M1 model. Or wait until the model you want has undergone an M1 overhaul. Apple says the switchover will take about another 18 months. The more you demand of your Mac, the more you’ll appreciate the M1’s performance boost. The Apple MacBook Air (M1 2020)’s silent fanless design and extra battery life further sweeten the deal. That said, there’s no need to dump your Intel Mac just yet. Apple continued supporting PowerPC Macs for another four years and should do at least the same for Intel machines. But when your current Mac is ready for the big recycling centre in the sky, the M1 processor will make for a welcome upgrade. If you’re after a productivity companion but don’t need loads of horsepower, you might lament the lack of a 15/16-inch MacBook Air. As a result, you’re forced to step up to the pricey and overpowered 16-inch MacBook Pro if you want some extra screen real estate.

As Michael Fisher recalls from his 2013 unit.. It became clear that ultra-portables would only be good for light to moderate loads. We can credit Apple for re-inventing the modern laptop design, but the promise of a powerful machine remained incomplete. What's funny is that the Intel partnership they so heavily claimed as what made the first MacBook Air possible is exactly what they needed to get rid of in order to deliver. The reason why this M1 MacBook Air is so important, is because if I asked you what your dream laptop would be, I know few people would prefer a heavy brick with a washed out screen, plus little endurance and a hefty price tag. We all want the best value for our investment, and after testing this Air for five months, I actually think it's too good for the money. I even debate why anyone would want to pay more for a MacBook Pro. I'm Jaime Rivera with Pocketnow and this is our extended review sponsored by iVANKY. Stick around to learn how iVANKY can solve one of my few complaints.

So, if you are invested in the Apple ecosystem, and you currently own an iPhone, iPad, or other product from the same manufacturer, your life will be slightly easier. And whether you should raise your budget to get a MacBook Pro 13 (Late 2020) should be decided on your daily work routine. Yes, heavier (and longer) tasks will make use of the active cooling of the latter, but if your daily work consists of e-mailing, photo editing, and generally less-demanding load, the MacBook Air (Late 2020) is a device you shouldn’t miss.

The Apple M1 SoC might be a first-gen product for Apple's laptops and desktops but it's very evident that this is the end result of years of perfecting the A-series SoC for its phones and tablets. Intel's CPUs in recent times haven't been terribly exciting, with only modest improvements in performance year on year. In a way, this has held the MacBook Air (and the rest of Apple's portfolio) back.

The new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro come with two Thunderbolt 3 ports, that can be used to charge the devices, transfer data at high speeds and you can even use them to connect a 6K external monitor. The new devices now come with Wi-Fi 6, which is a major improvement over the older Intel-based MacBook devices. Wi-Fi 6 improves data transfer speeds, provides better performance in crowded areas like offices or malls, and it also helps to improve the battery life of the devices. Both devices also support Bluetooth 5.0 for connecting peripherals, and they also come with a 3.5mm auxiliary jack for headphones.

The M1 Air is a great laptop. Powerful performance. Long battery life. Completely silent and cool. It’s the distillation of what Apple does best — democratizing technology. Bringing tech to the masses. It’s a great computer for most people. As I was playing with the Air over the weekend, I wondered to myself, is this a classic? Could it be up there with the best Macs ever made? It certainly feels like an instant classic. Even my cat loves it.

Lisa Gade reviews both the late 2020 MacBook Air and 13” MacBook Pro with the new M1 Apple Silicon processors. These ARM-based CPUs offer tremendous performance, heat and battery life improvements, even when relying on Apple’s Rosetta 2 Intel emulation mode. Apple’s own programs are ARM-native as is the Big Sur operating system these laptops ship with. A growing list of 3rd party programs are going universal or native with M1 support. The casing and design for both machines is identical to their Intel predecessors. We compare the 2 laptops, look at compatibility issues, and compare them to Windows competitors and more powerful Mac laptops like the 16” MacBook Pro. And yes, they can run iOS and iPad apps, though that list is short and the experience is challenging without a touch screen.

The MacBook Air (M1, 2020) is easily one of the most exciting Apple laptops of recent years. Its M1 chip is a real game-changer, and the ability to run both legacy apps, new M1-optimized apps and iOS apps is very impressive. Battery life is also great, and performance is excellent as well.

If you’re in the market for a MacBook Air, you’ll be astounded by the performance and battery life on display here, and I think the vast majority of users need not worry about whether or not their favorite apps have been updated to support the M1 yet—Rosetta2 emulation works beautifully. If you’re waiting for the next big evolution of the Mac, this feels like only half the picture, the “inside” half, with the “outside” half hopefully on the way sooner rather than later.

The M1-equipped MacBook Air now packs far better performance than its predecessors, rivaling at times the M1-based MacBook Pro. At $999, it’s the best value among macOS laptops.

For such a popular laptop -- I often call the MacBook Air the most universally useful laptop you can buy -- continuity of experience is incredibly important. That's true for Air users, who are usually looking for a sleek, reasonably priced machine that just works, as well as for those who use MacBook Pro laptops, the iMac, the Mac Mini or the Mac Pro for professional design, editing, photography or music work. Right now, only part of the Mac line is switching to Apple silicon. The rest, I'd expect to come sometime in the next year.

Apple’s new MacBook Air is its most refined ultraportable yet, mostly due to the new M1 system-on-a-chip. It’s incredibly fast and completely silent, since it has no fan. It’s the first step towards unifying Apple’s hardware and software on Macs, and just like the iPhone and iPad, the result is a sleek and polished experience.

At the same time that it launched the new MacBook Air with an M1 processor, Apple discontinued the Intel-based version of the Air. It was a bold move; the MacBook Air is Apple’s best-selling computer, and Apple also just made more money selling Macs last quarter than it ever had before. But it was the right decision. There is not a single reason I can find to want the old Intel version.

This year's MacBook Air fixes a lot of our complaints with previous models. It comes with new, more powerful, innards, a drastically improved keyboard and more storage space. However, the screen is a little muted and battery life is average. Still, if you're an Apple fan looking for an affordable MacBook, we can heartily recommend the new MacBook Air – something we've not been able to do with previous versions.

Apple announced their new Mac computers powered by their own, Apple-designed processors today. All of Apple's computers have used Intel processors for more than a decade, but the company is transitioning to "M1" chips, an 8-core CPU/GPU combo that is based on the chips found in their iPhones and iPads. Apple is claiming huge speed increases for their M1 Macs, which we'll need to try for ourselves.
