Reviews for the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro
ROG Phone 已经更上一层楼,速度比以往任何时候都快。但即使在游戏之外,它在日常生活中的表现也有所改进,更新时间更长,人工智能功能更强大。我们的评测揭示了它的不足之处。

And basically, that’s everything there is to know about the ROG Phone 9. Should you buy it though? That’s a question that I think is difficult to answer, so let me share my personal thoughts with you. I think that the ROG Phone 9 is a very incremental upgrade. Yes, it comes with the new Snapdragon 8 Elite but honestly, it looks to be a minor upgrade rather than all the fancy numbers that Qualcomm advertised. Seriously, Qualcomm kept shouting “3 million points in AnTuTu” but that score is unrealistic. I only got that once and never again. I suspect that in order to consistently get the 3 million points, we have to have the phone’s motherboard strapped directly to a Noctua NH-D15 or just put it in a freezer, then let it boost to the highest possible performance.

Starting with the last generation of ROG Phone, ASUS took the right path and made the gaming smartphone more massive and versatile. Closer to the classic flagships, which expanded the potential audience. ASUS ROG Phone 9 Pro continued to move in this direction and received mostly evolutionary improvements: the latest flagship Snapdragon processor, an even faster and brighter display, a slightly larger battery, and updated software. At the same time, typical gaming features such as touch triggers, optional external cooling, and original design have not disappeared. Therefore, the smartphone will be of interest not only to mobile gamers but also to ordinary users looking for a powerful model with a long battery life, a good camera, and a large display.

Asus knows its audience for the ROG Phone 9 Pro—this device doesn't make any major advances versus last year's phone, but it's faster, runs a little longer, it's got more LEDs for bling and has more features. You could say the same about almost any piece of gaming hardware these days, but if gaming is a big part of your mobile experience, it's hard to think of a better companion than the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro. The phone is chunky and hefty, but it doesn't have the strong gamer vibe of older ROG models. We don't love its rattly buttons, but the rest of the hardware here is solid. There are dual USB-C ports, a headphone jack, and shoulder buttons—you won't get any of those on regular smartphones. The 6.78-inch OLED display is also bright and sharp enough.

ROG 9 Pro has a hardcore exterior design, with a more rounded body that brings better grip and gaming experience; the upgraded AniMe Vision Matrix screen on the back cover not only supports more customizable graphics, but also allows you to play retro pixel style games, giving gaming phones some new ways to play; the Snapdragon 8 Ultra chip with ROG's excellent tuning capabilities, gaming performance can also put your mind at ease! The Snapdragon 8 Ultimate chip with ROG's excellent tuning capabilities will also give you peace of mind about gaming performance. Overall the ROG 9 Pro adds more interest just by looking at this light matrix screen alone, and the performance is in the top tier of current flagship phones. If you're serious about your phone's gaming performance, the ROG 9 Pro is a good choice, and with the Cooling Fan X Pro, it's also recommended for longer, smoother gaming performance.

The Asus ROG 9 Pro gaming phone not only maintains exceptional performance and gaming capabilities but also introduces exciting new features, including the AniMe Vision light display matrix screen. The overall design continues the look of the previous generation. The frosted glass on the back feels smooth and resists fingerprints, helping to manage the issue of sweaty hands during extended gaming sessions. The straight-edged body also enhances the gaming experience. The AniMe Vision light display matrix has been upgraded with 648 Mini-LED lamp beads. This improvement allows for a richer display and introduces new interactive features, such as mini-games like Snake and Aircraft Wars.

The ROG Phone 9 Pro and the ROG Phone 9 are not joking around. They are packed to the brim with high tech, the optimization is flawless, and they are performance and endurance champs. It has the distinct, aggressive look, but reigned in a bit so you can rock it as a daily phone without looking like you are holding a gaming console up to your ear. There are a couple of drawbacks. The cameras, while usable, are not on par with other $1k phones out there. And the 2 year Android update commitment is not great. That said, there's a good reason why the ROG Phones have a strong following in the gaming niche. Asus hold nothing back and they are always the top performers to compare others to. They are truly an enthusiast's smartphone. If you are in that niche, you have probably already decided on buying it. And we're here to say — it won't disappoint you!

The Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro is one of the finest gaming phones around, and beyond that, it’s just a pretty great phone in general. I’ve tested a lot of RedMagic phones in the past, and the key differentiator with the ROG is that there’s much less compromise when using this as a daily driver. For instance, RedMagic phones lack an IP rating, they don’t support wireless charging and the cameras are pretty naff. The ROG Phone 9 Pro is IP68-rated, supports Qi charging and has a decent set of snappers; it just feels like a more complete package. That said, the value proposition muddies things a bit. The ROG Phone 9 Pro starts at £1099.99 / $1199.99 and if you want the Pro Edition with the included cooler, that’ll cost you a cool £1299.99 / $1499.99.

Asus has produced another amazing gaming phone that still manages to cover all the basics of a flagship phone too. But for all the ROG Phone 9 Pro's strengths, it still has the same weaknesses as before — lifeless photography, short software support, and a high price. Fortunately for Asus, the ROG Phone 9 Pro's awesome performance, sharp looks and battery life make it easy to recommend for anyone wanting a top-flight Android phone, whether or not they're a keen mobile gamer. However, things will likely change as we go into 2025, and phones like the Galaxy S25 series and OnePlus 13 start to arrive with the same chipset, and hopefully the same power and efficiency, but with better-rounded photography and software features.

Gaming smartphones are evolving, adopting more refined designs while maintaining their core gaming features. However, with regular flagship phones matching their performance, the reasons to invest in a dedicated gaming device are dwindling. Nevertheless, the ASUS ROG Phone 9 Pro continues to offer great value, balancing advanced features with a mature design. For gamers who demand the best, the ASUS ROG Phone 9 Pro stands out as a worthy contender. It combines speed, style, and substance, making it a compelling choice for those who want a device tailored to their gaming needs. Despite the shrinking market for gaming phones, ASUS’s offering remains a testament to innovation in the mobile gaming arena.

The ROG Phone 9 Pro isn't a revolutionary upgrade; it uses the same design as its predecessor, and you get the same 165Hz AMOLED panel and other niceties, including a 3.5mm jack. Where it comes into its own is the performance — thanks to Qualcomm's latest silicon, the ROG Phone 9 Pro delivers incredible performance in just about any game, and the bigger battery means you can play for longer. The new 50MP camera at the back takes great photos and videos, and you get a clean software with a fluidic interface and no bloatware. The ROG Phone 9 Pro is a fantastic gaming phone, but it isn't just good at that one thing — if you need an all-rounder that's fluid like no other device today, this is the one to get.

I’ve felt a twinge of disappointment using the ROG Phone 9 Pro. Not because it’s bad (far from it), but because it’s extremely similar to the ROG Phone 8 Pro. From the overall design, dimensions, and screen to the camera and charging, it’s the same phone. The ROG Phone 8 Pro was a new beginning for Asus and the ROG Phone line, and it’s a shame its replacement hasn’t moved things forward again. There’s no question it’s a brilliant phone for gaming. The AirTriggers are still the best of their kind that I’ve tried. The audio performance beats the competition every time. The immensely powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite — which may be all some need to consider in terms of buying the phone — doesn’t seem to get too hot outside of some benchmark tests and is shaping up to be very efficient.

If you want nothing short of the best mobile gaming experience, we believe that the ROG Phone line is still the way to go. The ROG Phone 9 family has the most in-depth and comprehensive set of gaming features on top of excellent and, in many ways, specifically crafted hardware. The ROG Phone 9 generation is all about refinement. Last year, the family saw a major redesign, and now Asus is ironing out any issues and grievances users might have had. The latest and greatest Snapdragon chipset is sort of a given, but we still have to admire how well the ROG Phone 9 handles cooling on the beastly chipset and how efficient it is. The boost in the display refresh rate is also appreciated.

ASUS is well known for making exceptional gaming phones, and if you’re looking for bleeding-edge performance, the ASUS ROG Phone 9 and 9 Pro are hard to beat. However, I don’t think existing ROG Phone 8 customers should rush out to grab this year’s models for these improvements alone. Those on the 6 or 7 series will see bigger upgrades, however. Still, ASUS has built a solid phone here that continues to blur the lines between those old, gaudy gaming phones and something that has more mainstream appeal. You’ll still only want the ASUS ROG Phone 9 or 9 Pro if you’re primarily buying a phone for gaming, as rivals have it beat in the camera and software features departments.

The Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro shows off the kind of power and performance I hope to see in new 2025 phones, especially should they include the same Snapdragon 8 Elite processor or a comparable rival chip. I certainly appreciate how well the phone handles intensive graphics and its utterly high 185Hz refresh rate in games that can support it. And even though the phone offers only a small iteration on the Phone 8 Pro's design, it's good to see the LED display on the back gain more personality. But it's also hard to recommend this phone to anyone outside of gaming circles, especially when you consider all the other services that more mainstream Android phone makers are providing for less money.

At $1,499.99, the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro Edition is one of the most expensive handsets on the market. For the price, you get a unique design, a sturdy build, and an incredibly fast and bright display. You also get top-tier gaming specs, including the latest Snapdragon chip, a powerful internal cooling system, and a massive amount of fast memory and storage. Air triggers, game-enhancing software, and an external fan all help level up the experience. Even the cameras are solid, though we wish Asus offered a longer support window and did a better job of handling US 5G networks. Still, if you want the most powerful Android gaming phone on the market, the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro Edition is our Editors' Choice.

The ROG Phone 9 Pro is too expensive to be a realistic option for many people. But if you can afford it and want the absolute best gaming performance out there, this is the phone to get, especially the Pro Edition model. If raw performance is what you’re after, it’s the go-to, with enough extra features to set it apart from others running the same chip. Will you get similar performance in a cheaper gaming handset like a successor to the Nubia Z60S Ultra, Redmagic 9 Pro, or Poco X6 Pro in 2025? It’s likely. But with a side port for easy charging and those fan-favourite AirTriggers, it’s a hard phone to pass up. Best of all, it’s still a great general-use phone.

Last year’s ROG Phone didn’t fully fling open the door to the non-hardcore gaming crowd – but it definitely took off the deadbolt. Things have changed dramatically for 2024, even though the ROG Phone 9 Pro brings a few upgrades that’ll keep up its wider audience appeal. The main camera has improved for both stills and video; the bigger battery bring epic endurance when you’re not gaming; and the two-colour Anime Vision LEDs are especially easy on the eye, without going OTT on the rest of the styling front. There’s also no denying this is a rapid phone, and even if you’re not bolting on the external cooler it’ll demolish any game you’d care to throw at it.

The Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro is the most powerful phone on the market at the time of writing. It's also remarkably easy to use day-to-day, with a relatively subtle design, outstanding battery life, an adequate camera, and plenty of pleasing quality-of-life features. It isn't fully optimized for either purpose – gaming or everyday use – but it takes a pretty convincing stab at covering all bases.

Unboxing Asus' ROG Phone 9 Pro Edition, with a review of the gaming performance, battery life and more after days of testing. Powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite, the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro Edition is the best gamer smartphone in 2024. But with the Red Magic 10 Pro etc about to launch, will it stay that way? Most areas of this beefy blower have been upgraded in some way vs the 8 Pro from last year. You've got slightly improved cameras, a 185Hz AMOELD display, a bigger 5800mAh battery etc. But the ROG Phone 9 Pro's biggest update is the Snapdragon 8 Elite, the best brains for your gaming good times right now. I've been playing a lot of Genshin Impact, Wuthering Waves and Call of Duty on this super-powered smartphone to test it out ahead of launch.
