A good laptop with a gnawing problem: its in-trackpad screen feels like an awkward appendage. However, the design is compact given the screen size, the keyboard is responsive, and there's real performance versatility here. At the right price, therefore, it's a capable bargain.

At the £1,499 price point, the Asus ZenBook 14 UX434F has all the hallmarks of a premium ultra-portable PC. Design and build quality are top-notch, and despite being one of the smallest 14in laptops on the market, there's plenty of performance courtesy of a fast Core i7 CPU, GeForce MX graphics and a spacious 1TB M.2 SSD.

Well, if you’re a professional or even a student and you carry around your laptop on a daily basis, the Asus Zenbook 14 UX434 is the right combination of style and substance. It’s built extremely well, it can be carried around with ease, has good internals, and even has a secondary display which adds a ton of multitasking capabilities. There’s not much to complain about either, just that it’s not fit for gaming or editing long videos. Yes, the price is slightly premium, but you pay for the form factor and the uniqueness of that ScreenPad. The base variant with a Core i5 chip starts at Rs. 79,990 and if your budget permits, you should get the Zenbook 14 UX434. It’s surely one of our favorite laptops of the year, and we’re pretty sure you will be of the same impression once you get your hands on it!

The Asus ZenBook 14 will appeal if you’re after a Windows laptop to do the basics, but want something that absolutely blitzes basic PC tasks and looks stylish to boot. The ZenBook 14 certainly does that. A smart-looking and compact Windows 10 laptop with an interesting selling point in the form of the ScreenPad, ideal for students and lifestyle use. Its display isn’t quite accurate enough to be considered an option for professional creatives however.

As did the ASUS ZenBook 14 UX433, the ZenBook 14 UX434 is also going to get our Editor’s choice award. It is because of the great build quality, fast hardware, and brilliant screen. However, the largest contributor to that is the innovations ASUS put into this laptop. We are super excited to test unique laptops that are on the bleeding edge of technology. We hope that this is going to encourage more and more manufacturers to start putting more effort into the diversification of the industry.

The ZenBook 13 UX434FL builds on the previous UX433 series, keeping the compact form factor, exquisite design and fast keyboard, but adding a touchscreen, a glass-cover ScreenPad, and updated hardware, all in a competitively priced package in its segment. My concerns are with the gaming experience provided by the two samples we've tested for this review, as well as with the potential QC issues that affected the previous generation and might also affect the updated model, both explained in the article below.

The Asus ZenBook 14 is thin, light and elegant, but the Screenpad 2.0 might take some getting used to. Luckily it's still powerful enough to power through most workloads.
