华硕最新的ScreenPad Plus使Apple Touch Bar看起来就像个玩具。 可超频的Core i9 CPU,GeForce RTX显卡,1 TB三星SSD和32 GB板载RAM是豪华的配置,而价格也同样昂贵。

The Asus ZenBook Pro Duo is an interesting spin on the classic laptop design, with two 4K screens and a huge amount of firepower built into its body. However, it feels like there are a few too many compromises made to house the second screen – known as the Screenpad Plus. It’s expensive, bulky and the Screenpad Plus doesn’t quite justify those compromises. A shame.

The Asus ZenBook Pro Duo's 4K OLED screen is superb, the keyboard as good as any put into a laptop, the trackpad almost confusingly usable, and we'd never say no to a RTX 2060 graphics card. We're even charmed by the ScreenPad Plus, much more so than the second-screen models that Asus has slipped under some of its trackpads in other models (such as the ZenBook 14). However, start prodding at the second screen feature to see what it can really do and it will often start falling apart at the seams. Which is a shame, as when it's good it's really, genuinely usable. All in all, the enBook Pro Duo meanders between the sublime and ridiculous. And we rather love it for that.

In summary then, though the ZenBook Pro Duo is pricey, it offers superlative specs and its ScreenPad Plus offers a unique experience that you can’t find on any other notebook in the market today. It’s up to users to determine if it’s something that will really benefit themselves, but it’s hard to argue that the ZenBook Pro Duo doesn’t offer something special and at a pretty reasonable price too.

Overall, this is not a device I can recommend for everyone because this is not a device for everyone. But for the very creative among us, especially those in the Microsoft universe, this is a dream device. Yes, it is pricey, but the bump you will get in productivity will balance out the costs in a while. But this is also not a perfect device, as many innovative devices tend to be. But that is the risk you will take as a first mover.

Whether its the smartphone or the laptop, more screens are the future. And with the ZenBook Pro Duo, Asus has tried to make use of the existing resources to bring more screen dream to consumers in the present. With the addition of a small display, there's a lot that you can do with your laptop and once you get used to it, it becomes difficult to go back to any conventional laptop.

But the ZenBook Pro Duo did sell me on the idea of a second display on a laptop, even if it doesn’t quite manage the execution just yet. It’s a first-generation product of a radical new way to use a computer — so of course Asus doesn’t have all of the pieces solved just yet. Presumably, the next generation of the ZenBook Pro Duo will improve, as will other dual-display laptops with different screen sizes and form factors over time. There is a great laptop buried within the raw clay of the ZenBook Pro Duo. Hopefully, Asus (or another company) will take the time and effort to find it.

You will recall the big thing from ASUS in 2018 was the ScreenPad – a combination touchpad and FullHD display. You could set it up as a numeric keypad, run videos in it and so on. This year the ScreenPad 2 added functionality, was easily editable (like a smart phone) and has been included in models across the ASUS range from the relatively affordable Asus VivoBook S15 (Model, S532, prices starting at $1,399) to the Asus ZenBook Edition 30 (model UX334, priced at $2,799) with its hand stitched pearl white Italian leather finish.

The ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo is undoubtedly impressive. As mentioned, it’s not that common to see a laptop that’s equipped with two screens and have programs run on both of them. The hardware included is decent, and ASUS also gives users more than enough RAM to go to town and multi-task however they want. This device is definitely meant for creators and streamers who are into games.

The concept of multi-monitor laptops isn’t new but done the way ASUS has done for the ZenBook Pro Duo, they definitively set a incredibly high-standard for usability. Still, this usability may vary on what kind of user you are. ASUS has marketed heavily for multimedia professionals like video editors, music products and heavy office users and to some extent, gamers. For the most part, all those listed will benefit greatly from the increase in real estate if their workflow already integrates these things and their level of expertise can utilize the screen greatly. That being said, the ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo isn’t ready-to-go, plug-n-play kind of solution and requires a certain level of familiarity with their workflow that would justify the increased cost of the screen, otherwise an ROG laptop would easily surpass the ZenBook Pro Duo in specs and performance.

The 15-inch Asus ZenBook Pro Duo is the first to put them together in the same laptop, making it a potential photo-editing powerhouse and a workhorse in cramped spaces-- if you don't mind the weight and don't need good battery life.

For the money, you can get the $2,649 Dell XPS 15, which has a brighter, more vivid display, better overall performance and longer battery life. However, its GTX 1650 GPU is no match for the Duo's RTX 2060 GPU. And you lose out on that sweet second display. Overall, the ZenBook Pro Duo is a serious contender for creative and mobile professionals looking for a worthy alternative to Apple.

ASUS was bold to integrate a second display to a notebook computer to change the way we look at what notebook computers are today. However, the design and execution of the ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo have a lot to improve. It’s a great innovative step forward, but several small steps back. It would have been better if they focused more on the basics of what a notebook computer should be.

Furthermore, while the overall design is very similar, there is no digital number pad here, nor is there a dedicated Turbo Fan button, likely owing to the less demanding specifications. If you’re willing to settle for slightly lower hardware and can’t handle the sheer size of the 15.6-inch model, you can opt for the ultra-book version of the device, dubbed the ZenBook Duo. The display panel gets downgraded to a 14-inch, full HD IPS panel, with the ScreenPad Plus shrinking down from 14-inches to just 12.6-inches. Intel’s Core i7 chip powers this particular notebook, with RAM topping out at 16GB. 1TB of PCIe SSD storage can still be had, though the GPU gets downgraded to NVIDIA’s GeForce MX250.

During our brief time with the Duo series we felt like the idea has some potential but that its second screen’s placement makes it a bit awkward to use. To help somewhat combat its unique positioning Asus did angle the bottom part of the laptop, which also helps with airflow. Nonetheless, the Zenbook’s dual-screen approach is less ideal than side-by-side monitors but we do applaud Asus trying something new. For what it’s worth, we like this approach better than Asus’ standard Screenpad.

The ZenBook Pro Duo definitely has a lot of things going for it. Its primary display is big, beautiful and a joy to work on, and the secondary display gives content creators extra space to work on. Multi-taskers will probably love the expanded workspace. Unfortunately, the laptop of the future has a few flaws, chief of which is practicality. You’ll be spending quite a bit for the luxury of that extra screen, with the model we reviewed priced at Php 169,995. The Core i9 variant is even higher, at Php 199,995. You can buy a pretty decent and powerful notebook and a secondary screen with a chunk of change left over. That’s not to say that ZenBook Pro Duo is useless, it’s just that it’s difficult to recommend it to the general population in its current form.

Now, there are a few things I hope ASUS would improve in the ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo. Cooling, would be my main concern. The current setup is astonishingly quiet even under heavy loads, but unfortunately the temperatures are a bit too high. The current layout also means less available space on the sides for ports. While the current setup offers fast USB 3.1 ports, more ports for stuff like peripherals would be welcome.

The Zenbook Pro Duo UX581 is not the kind of notebook a value-oriented buyer would get. But at the same time, if money is no object, this dual-screen computer is so unique and different than everything else out there that it might just make sense for some of you. In fact, Asus calls it "The laptop of tomorrow", and while that made me smirk at first, it might well be a glimpse into what's coming in the next few years. There's still plenty to perfect about this first generation, though, so for now, make sure you're fine with its quirks and throw in extended warranty, just in case...

Don't write the ZenBook Pro Duo off as a mere novelty without trying it. This may or may not be the future of laptops, but for creatives, multi-taskers, and the attentionally challenged, the second display quickly makes a case for itself. The question is how much you're willing to compromise to get it, with rubbish battery life and a giant chassis. This isn't perfect, and future dual-screen devices will find better ways to make the form factor work. But this is one hell of a first attempt.
