The ASUS ZenBook 14 Ultralight managed to attain a sweet spot between performance and portability. Thanks to it being equipped with the latest hardware components, it was able to improve on previously shortcomings, such as those found on the ASUS ExpertBook B9450, and excel in what it wants to be.

The ASUS ZenBook 14 UX435 is quite a promising ultrabook that packs a lot of punch for its compact size. It manages to fit in not just a 14-inch main display but also a ScreenPad. Its internals packs quite a punch for performance, and it’s all rounded out by solid battery life. It’s a great ultrabook for users who are looking for something portable yet powerful at the same time.

While it may have been underwhelming to see the same chassis as their previous models, this updated version of the Asus ZenBook 14 certainly does not disappoint. Again, the brand’s signature set of features do add a tremendous amount of value to this laptop and the upgrades to its internals make it easy to recommend to those who are looking for a notebook that isn’t cumbersome.

And if you are willing to look outside of ASUS, there’s no shortage of featherlight magnesium-bodied rivals. Acer’s Swift 5 and the Lenovo Slim Carbon 7i both have magnesium alloy chassis, weigh around 1kg, and can be spec’ed almost equivalently (the two lack discrete graphics). But most of all, they are less expensive. ASUS may have finally perfected its ZenBook but unfortunately for them, the competition hasn’t been stagnant. 2021 looks like it will be an interesting year for ultraportable notebooks.
