ASUS has once again created a no-compromise laptop. It won’t come cheap, but it can do everything it’s meant to – if not even more. The SD card slot makes it extremely easy for photographers to step into work right in, while the display is an absolute beauty. ASUS Zenbook Pro 16X OLED (UX7602)’s 4K OLED panel has comfortable viewing angles, super quick pixel response times, and a practically infinite contrast ratio. This leads to true blacks, which really make the image pop. What also helps, in this case, is the full sRGB and DCI-P3 coverage. Its default settings produce a really accurate image in terms of the aforementioned color standards. Not only that, but the “MyASUS” app offers a ton of control over your display, which is nice. Our configuration was equipped with the Core i9-12900H, and an RTX 3060 with 95W of TGP. It is amazing in terms of performance. However, we have to mention that Intel’s 13th Gen CPUs, and NVIDIA’s RTX 4000 GPUs are right around the corner. And ASUS confirms that it will sell this very laptop with both of the newcomers in the near future.

It’s got plenty of competition; too: the MacBook Pro 16 is far cheaper if you settle for the slower M1 Pro chip, and the £3299 price of the M1 Max model isn’t too far beyond the Zenbook. Stick with Windows, ditch the OLED display, and you’ll find i9-12900H laptops with faster GPUs for hundreds of pounds less. For creative quality, though, the OLED display is untouchable. The Zenbook then bolsters its screen with great performance and a sleek chassis. It’s a powerhouse that any serious creative should consider.

The OLED screen supplies exceptional quality for creative workloads, and elsewhere the Asus has huge power, great ergonomics and plenty of connectivity. It’s a professional powerhouse, although it’s not the laptop to buy if you want great battery life or a light chassis.

The ASUS Zenbook Pro 16X OLED is a premium laptop with a premium build quality plus a premium price tag. For creatives out there though, or those looking for a laptop that really pushes productivity? Then this should be one you should consider. It comes with a powerhouse of a processor that will surely last you years, and a GPU that might be mid-tier when it comes to gaming but will be more than enough for power hungry creators out there. That beautiful screen really makes this laptop pop and with a build quality that is a step up versus most other Windows laptops out there, it’s hard to find a lot of faults with the ASUS Zenbook Pro 16X OLED. I think it is a device that knows who its market is and is unapologetic in targeting that specific consumer base. So if you’re interested in the device, it is priced at PHP 239,995 and comes with a free 3 month subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud.

Most of my friends who are into filmmaking, cinematography, photo editing, and so on, have traditionally been MacBook users. The ASUS ZenBook Pro 16X OLED genuinely has the ability to make them switch. I did show the laptop to one of my friends and he was in awe of the display and audio quality on the ZenBook Pro. Pricing plays a key role here and the laptop’s hefty starting cost of Rs 2,49,990 can put a big dent in your wallet. However, when compared to the MacBook Pro 16-inch with the M1 Pro chipset, you are getting a much better deal in just about every aspect of a laptop experience, except perhaps the battery life. The ZenBook Pro 16X OLED has all the elements to make it the portable creative machine of choice for most use cases.

The combination of power-hungry hardware and an OLED display means battery life could be a concern, so the laptop comes juiced with a 96-watt hour battery. On paper, it’s estimated to last around 10 hours; in a real-world scenario, the battery life clocked a runtime of around nine hours on standard usage (surfing the Internet, listening to music on Spotify, watching YouTube videos, working on Google Drive and WordPress, and chatting on Telegram and Discord). That isn’t too far off ASUS’ claim, and should be sufficient to last users through an 8-hour workday. At S$4,999, the Zenbook Pro 16X OLED can be quite the investment, but it’s one that pays off handsomely several times over. The laptop is a powerful machine for both work and play, topped off with the graceful flourish of a modest, hardy design, beautiful visuals, smooth performance, and excellent cooling. Just be mindful of its heft, limited ASUS Dial app support, and for creative professionals, the weakened video editing capability.

Asus made this laptop for content creators and professionals who value a premium design and mostly uncompromised ergonomics, in a bundle that offers an interesting mix of looks, good inputs and IO, a beautiful OLED display, a big battery, and fair performance with most applications. At the same time, the mid-tier GPU capabilities in a full-size chassis weighing 5.2 lbs (2.4 kilos) might not be justifiable for some of you at the prices asked for this series at launch.

The Asus Zenbook Pro 16X OLED (UX7602) is large and powerful laptop. It's robustly designed, with an unusual angled keyboard, a large trackpad with an integrated number pad and the Asus Dial, as well as an excellent 16-inch OLED touch screen. The fancy keyboard backlighting might be a bit over the top for some, but the Core i9 processor, 2TB of storage, excellent speakers and even the FHD IR webcam mark this laptop out as special. Just be aware of potential limitations of battery life and the Asus Dial's limited application support.
