Reviews for the Dell XPS 13 9300 Core i7-1065G7
Apple has been championing the 16:10 display for years across its MacBook family. It's about time for a Windows maker to offer the same larger aspect ratio that both home and office users can appreciate.

The Dell XPS 13 is an extremely luxurious device, with all-day battery life and solid performance – not to mention a design that's something to die for. However, the lackluster audio and high price tag may turn some folks off.

Dell XPS 13 is not here to revolutionise the laptop industry. Instead, it is here to get the job done. The ultrabook from Dell is a well built, portable, light-weight and powerful machine capable of amazing productivity on the go thanks to exceptional battery life and a phenomenal keyboard and trackpad combo.

Smaller, sleeker and sporting the tiniest bezels on all sides, the new Dell XPS 13 shows that Dell still knows how to push the envelope without going too far. It's an exercise in patient restraint, improving the notebook in a bunch of small ways that add up to a big leap for the system.

Dell’s XPS slate of ultrabooks has always been nothing short of eye-catching and boasting really solid ergonomics, and the 2020 version of the XPS 13 is no different. In fact, it may just be the single best ultrabook in 2020 so far, and that says a ton about this little beast.

For sure, the XPS 13 9300 is one of the best 13-inchers you can get, regardless of the price. It is both great in terms of computational performance, and in playing some light games. Moreover, creative tasks, like photo editing and vector graphics work will not be a problem, whatsoever. However, you have to keep in mind that this laptop doesn’t provide a very adequate cooling for its processor. At least not for the Core i7-1065G7 model. If you are rendering a video, for example, it will heat up quite drastically, both inside and out, with the keyboard reaching some 48C.

The Dell XPS 13 2020 manages to make our favorite overall laptop even better, largely thanks to an even more immersive display that gives you greater real estate for watching movies and getting work done. The XPS 13 delivers some of the best overall performance in its class thanks to its 10th Gen Intel CPU, and its snappy keyboard and larger touchpad make it perfect for staying productive over long stretches.

If anything, Dell needs more unique tricks like this if the XPS 13 is going to remain among the ultraportable elite. This 2020 model is largely more of the same, which a lot of the time is fine: the sleek build is exquisite, there are multiple security tools, and the keyboard and trackpad are both top quality.

Overall there is a lot to like about the new XPS 13, and very little to detract from. Dell has yet another winner. With an updated 16:10 display, class-leading battery life, and a fantastic design, the XPS 13 is easily one of the best notebooks around.

Does Dell’s latest XPS 13 suffer any shortcomings? Dropping the primary input ports from three to two Thunderbolt 3 (by eliminating the USB-C port in the prior generation system) might be problematic for owners who run numerous peripheral devices. However, that can be easily addressed with a multi-port dongle (like Dell’s Travel Adapter) or a desktop adapter.

A beautiful 16:10 display and the best keyboard around are enough to mean the XPS is worth anyone considering, but poor ports, overheating problems, and a steep price leave this a good laptop, but maybe not a great one.

Dell's new XPS 13 is a great laptop! They've updated the speakers, the keyboard, the design, the cooling, the hinge, and much more! We love that they brought back Windows Hello facial recognition, and we're impressed with the really nice and thin bezels of the display. However, there are still some things that can be improved.

The new Dell XPS 13 for 2020 is a superb ultrabook in every respect from its immaculately machined chassis to its breathtakingly 4K beautiful touch display and powerful hardware. It doesn’t come cheap but that’s the price you pay for uncompromising excellence for the Bentley of ultraportables.

The Dell XPS 13 (2020) is the best Ultrabook you can buy right now. The competition offers flashes of brilliance, while Dell’s flagship shines brightly across the board. From the joyous keyboard and impressive form-factor to an awe-inducing display and peak 10th-gen performance, Dell sets the standard.

The 2020 Dell XPS 13 9300 is, in my estimation, the best ultraportable currently on the market. It’s a barely-there laptop you can basically throw in a bag, but it has more than enough power to even satisfy some pro users for light workloads. If you were to ask me right now which ultraportable to buy, it would be the Dell XPS 13 9300.

There are a number of laptops out there that get just about everything right. But most of them have at least one area of serious concern where the XPS edges them out. On HP’s Spectre x360, it’s the 16:9 screen. On the Surface Laptop 3, it’s the lack of Thunderbolt. On the Surface Pro 7, it’s the dated design. On the MacBook Air, it’s the battery life. To be the best laptop you can buy, the XPS 13 doesn’t need to do everything perfectly; it just needs to do everything a little bit better. And for yet another year, it does.

Overall, we love the design, look, and balance of performance to battery life of the newest XPS 13. Folks shopping for a high-end, thin and light notebook will find lots of performance, battery life, and great looks to keep them happy and sated for a long while. Anybody who needs to order a new laptop today should definitely have this system at the top of their short list. For that reason, we're bestowing upon it our Editor's Choice award.

I really love the new XPS 13. There doesn't seem to be any meaningful compromises here, and the improvements that Dell made absolutely are meaningful. My only complaints are that there's no cellular model, something that HP offers from its Spectre lineup, and that you have to scan your fingerprint after the PC boots up. That's it.

Dell’s latest XPS 13 doesn’t reinvent the wheel but it does smoothen things out somewhat. It doesn’t stray far from the template but it is strategic about how it wants to be better than what came before it. Even if that formula is a little predictable, it’s easy to like.

Perhaps it’s best to think of the XPS 13 as a status symbol, a machine that pushes the boundaries of what a laptop can be even as its benefits trickle down to other models lower in Dell’s food chain. You’ll need to pay a premium for it, just as you need to pay the infamous Apple tax for a MacBook Pro, but in return you get a superbly designed laptop with oodles of cool factor.
