Pixel 3a vs. Pixel 3: 3's the New Lucky Number`
Source: iTech Post English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
At a $399-base price, the Pixel 3a is a promising alternative to it flagship brother. The overall usage experience remains the same though certain feature have been removed. There's no wireless charging and water resistance, and some security features weren't included to further bring down the price. If you're will to spend an additional $400, then the Pixel 3 is a logical choice. But if you're ok with a toned-down version, without too much of a compromise, the Pixel 3a is a rather good, if not, best choice.

The Pixel 3 is an uncomplicatedly brilliant phone. Tweaks such as the design might seem small but we like the new glass rear cover with its soft matt finish which in turn brings wireless charging. It does everything very well without unnecessary fanfare. Now at a lower price, it's a great bargain if you don't want to spend extra on the Pixel 4's new camera and gestures.

Even into 2019, the Google Pixel 3 has the best smartphone camera you can buy. Don't let its raw specs fool you: its very ordinary sounding 12.2MP rear camera with a single lens and an f/1.8 aperture is enhanced by machine-learning software, Google’s secret sauce to making your photos better. The phone design doesn’t stand out, and the battery life will be underwhelming for power users, but Google does pack in a 5.5-inch screen and dual front-facing speakers into a one-hand-friendly phone. It’s Google’s best phone in a smaller size.

Google's Pixel 3, one year later: Amazing camera, rough start
Source: Engadget English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
As Google prepares to unveil the Pixel 4, surely the most leaked phone of all time, it's time to reassess its predecessor. The Pixel 3 and 3 XL arrived this time last year, with many of us balancing the list price ($150 more than the Pixel 2) against some promising camera features. For many of us, the latter won out: The Pixel 3 series packed an incredible camera that set the standard for smartphone photography for the ensuing 12 months.

These days, practically every phone maker is desperately trying to do something extra, whether that means slapping five lenses on the back or developing a fancy new way for a camera to pop out of metal. Bucking that trend, Google made its phone more useful for the types of things you'd more likely demand from your phone.

Pixel 3 review: The best Android phone of 2018
Source: Tech Switch English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
The Pixel 3’s digital camera is skillful at taking portrait images too. They take a couple of seconds to render, however the falloff between the fore- and background appears to be like pure and never overly easy. When I took a photograph of a canine, I seen a patchy-looking stray hair or two, however the impact was minimal. And the Pixel offers you the choice to tweak the blurriness and focus of those portraits after you hearth the shutter, just like the iPhone XS and different Android telephones.

In fact, my only gripe with the Pixel 3 involves its price. At $799, it's $150 more expensive at launch than the Pixel 2 was, even though the new phone packs the same 64GB of storage. And so much of what makes this device great pertains to software, not strictly hardware. Slight price hikes are expected, but you get the sneaking suspicion Google jacked up the cost just because Apple proved it could get away with upping prices first.

Google Pixel 3a vs Pixel 3
Source: Tech Advisor English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
The Pixel 3a is a great new option in Google’s range which lets you have a phone that’s almost as good as the Pixel 3 for considerably less. That phone is available for a lot less than Google’s price if you look elsewhere, though, and it can be well worth splashing out the extra £89/$99 or so if you value waterproofing, wireless charging and better performance. But conversely, if those features will make no difference to you, you’re better off with the Pixel 3a.

I still very much agree with Kris’ sentiment towards the Pixel 3 in his initial review: It’s the iPhone of the Android world. It’s a phone that works well, and in my opinion offers the best Android experience on any phone right now. It’s not flashy, it’s not for everyone, but it’s still damn good.

The Google Pixel 3 definitely earns its place among the high-end mobile cameras. What is most impressive is how Google’s software has improved upon the Pixel 2, while using very similar camera hardware. As such, the Pixel 3 is the best single-lens camera, and possibly the last single-lens system at the high-end.

Google Pixel 3 front camera review
Source: DxOMark English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
Together with the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, the Google Pixel 3 is currently the joint leader in our new DxOMark Selfie ranking for front cameras. In Photo mode, it’s capable of capturing great images with excellent detail in almost all light conditions, thanks to Google’s clever software design and very good detail/noise trade-off. Exposure is also reliable, and thanks to good hardware design and a PDAF system that offers good depth of field and range of focus, scenes and subjects are sharp across a wide range of shooting distances. Used with a selfie-stick, it keeps the background in focus, which is useful for tourist-style shots with landmarks in the background. The white balance system could be more accurate, but overall, the Pixel 3 is great for front-camera stills.

After letting the Pixel 3 XL’s mature for several months, the majority of its bugs disappeared and it comfortably became my daily driver. But how does it perform when it came to travelling overseas? On top of not getting lost and being foreign to the local language, the last thing you would want to be causing problems is your smartphone. Additionally, as someone who takes a ton of photos when travelling, its camera will also be one of the main aspects that will be discussed.

Google Pixel 3 camera review: The best Pixel yet
Source: DxOMark English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
With the Pixel 3, Google continues to make impressive gains in image processing using computational imaging. The result is a very versatile camera that people can confidently use in most situations without any manual settings or tweaks. In particular, the Pixel 3’s Zoom and Bokeh (Portrait mode) scores have improved dramatically over the previous generation. Overall, it is tied for the top of our single-camera phones with the Apple iPhone XR and beats it, along with nearly every other phone in our database, for Video. The Pixel 3’s scores are behind those of only a handful of multi-camera flagship phones.

The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL aren't perfect. But from a features and software standpoint, I do think Google has knocked it out of the park again. This is also a time where something approaching design fatigue is becoming increasingly obvious, and a lot of flagships phones are starting to look uncannily similar to each other, and to their predecessors. Software is one of the areas where companies can continue to throw in fresh ideas and innovate, and Google is doing this wonderfully. The Pixel 3 phones may not be the swankiest kids on the block, but they deliver where it counts. And sometimes, maybe substance matters more than flair (if you don't mind the high cost).

Google Pixel 3: It’s the Little Things
Source: Tech PP English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
Google Pixel 3 is not for everyone. Usually, when someone asks me which phone they should buy, I simply point them towards the OnePlus 6T. It’s just better value. But these little things are what set the Google Pixel series apart, and for most buyers, they’re not enough to justify the massive price difference especially in countries like India. And I agree. However, if you’re looking for a premium experience, I can assure you the Pixel 3 won’t let you down.

If you’re in the market for a new smartphone, the Google Pixel 3 is a fantastic device, especially when taking into account newer features like Night Sight. If you’re still rocking a Nexus or original Pixel device, the Pixel 3 will be a great upgrade. The Google Pixel 3 is definitely an improvement over the Pixel 2 smartphones. However, most of the features have come, or will be coming, to the Pixel 2 and 2 XL as well so it is a bit harder to justify an update unless you really want or need the latest and greatest Google has to offer.

Pixel 3 review: perfect imperfection
Source: Phandroid English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
I have to admit that I was pretty excited for the Pixel 3. I’d been using the Pixel 2 as my main device since it came out last year and had high expectations for the Pixel 3. The phone does deliver a better camera experience and slightly better performance thanks to the newer Snapdragon 845, but it honestly doesn’t have the same appeal as last year’s device did. The Pixel 3 is still an incredible smartphone, but it seems to be lacking the “it” factor which makes it a “must buy” smartphone when matching it up to the competition.

Overall, there’s a lot to recommend here. Set in an imperfect Android world where security vulnerabilities, malware and other issues are weekly news events, and where even major manufacturers have flawed update records, the pure Google ‘monthly updates’, only days behind the OS code itself being fixed, take some beating. And are worth paying for.

The Google Pixel 3 Review: The Ultimate Camera Test
Source: AnandTech English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
Overall, is the Pixel 3 a worthwhile phone to purchase? The problem here is I think unless you’re very entrenched in Google’s software ecosystem and you make good use of many of Google US-exclusive features on the Pixel, then you might want to consider some other alternatives or just wait out the next generation from the big vendors. Google’s release schedule, which is out of sync with SoC vendors, means that the Pixel is again a half-way point between generations. On top of that, Google is demanding the full price of a new flagship, while lacking some of the features or build quality of said flagships.

It is hard to question Google’s intent behind making the Pixel 3. The vision is to make a flagship Android smartphone that is backed by Google AI, which is fast and slick, and where software takes a center stage. The Pixel 3 comes close but it is still not a perfect device. The camera is its biggest merit, the screen looks good, the front-facing speakers are loud and the battery is good if not the best. Overall, I believe the Pixel 3 is the right phone for geeks and early adopters, but it’s still not ready to be a mass premium seller like the iPhone XS and Galaxy S9.

Software is one of the areas where companies can continue to throw in fresh ideas and innovate, and Google is doing this wonderfully. The Pixel 3 proves that you do not need multiple cameras to take great photographs. It can be inconsistent. And sometimes it can deliver results that border on the unreal.

It’s going much too far to say that flagship Android smartphones have all become the same, but the differences between their hardware have become pretty narrow. Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, OLED screen, Gorilla Glass — if you were buying strictly off a spec sheet, it’s become fairly difficult to make a mistake if you’re picking from among the top four or five phones or vendors.

What I will say is that I would be perfectly happy with the Pixel 3 or XL. And I was impressed with the Quick Switch Adapter (USB-A female to USB-C) and software that transferred everything from my Note9 very efficiently. It also works with iPhone, Blackberry and Windows Phone transfer. In Android to Android transfers the worst it will ask for is a password to activate the app, (e.g. email etc.).

Officially available on October 18, the Google Pixel 3 and 3 XL start at $799 and $899, respectively. For the Android purist, the Material Design appreciator, and the camera buff – these are the Android phones to get right now.

These are not radically different phones from last year's Pixels, but they are much nicer to use and remain the most pure Android experience you can get. That might seem weird to say when some vendors are equipping their phones with even more stripped back "stock" Android software, like HMD with its Nokia smartphones, but the difference is that Google's additions support and enhance Android Pie while keeping the whole thing minimal and fast, not beating you over the heady with glitzy features. Like last year, this is the best Android experience and camera you can get, but this time it's wrapped up in an overall better machine.

The Google Pixel 3 will run you $799 to start and $899 for the Pixel 3 XL. This will get you the 64GB storage models with another $100 bump up if you want 128GB. In the box besides the phone, Google this year has included a pair of wired USB-C headphones that have the same look as the wireless Pixel Buds. These headphones can be used with Google Assistant, and do live translation like the Pixel Buds. Both models share the roughly the same specs with only the battery being bigger on the Pixel 3 XL and the Pixel 3 speaker sounds being about 10% less than the XL. The Pixel 3 series is not available for pre-order now and both models come in Just Black, Clearly White, and the new Not Pink. We’ll have more about the Pixel 3 as we next talk about the new Google Pixel Stand.

Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL review: Much ado about notching
Source: Hardware Zone English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL aren't perfect. But from a features and software standpoint, I do think Google has knocked it out of the park again. This is also a time where something approaching design fatigue is becoming increasingly obvious, and a lot flagships phones are starting to look uncannily similar to each other, and to their predecessors. Software is one of the areas where companies can continue to throw in fresh ideas and innovate, and Google is doing this wonderfully. The Pixel 3 phones may not be the swankiest kids on the block, but they deliver where it counts. And sometimes, maybe substance matters more than flair.

The Google Pixel 3 has the best smartphone camera you can buy today. Don’t let the raw specs fool you: its very ordinary sounding single 12.2MP rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture is enhanced by machine-learning software, Google’s secret sauce to making your photos better. The phone design doesn’t stand out and the battery life is underwhelming for power users, but Google does pack in a 5.5-inch screen and dual front-facing speakers into a one-hand-friendly phone. Pricing here is somewhat competitive as well. The Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL start at $799 and $899, respectively, for the 64GB models. That’s not cheap when you consider phones like the One Plus 6 are available for hundreds less, but in the overall landscape (and certainly compared to Apple's iPhone XS), the new Pixels aren’t the most expensive flagships either. So, what’s all this going to cost you? Well, the Pixel 3 starts at Rs. 71,000 while the Pixel 3 XL starts at Rs. 83,000. This is a Rs. 10,000 bump in price compared to last year’s model, which was to be expected we guess. It’s definitely going to be a challenge for Google this year, considering how competing flagships from Samsung retail for much less these days. The Pixel phones have always been about the camera but when you go this high up the price bracket, people are looking for the best all-round experience, which Google needs to nail. From what we’ve seen, the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL seem like a definite step-up from their predecessors in terms of design and the way they feel. The question is, are they worth it? We’ll be testing them over the next couple of days so stay tuned for the full review coming soon.

Much of the interest in the new Google Pixel 3 and Google Pixel 3 XL (I’ll just use ‘Pixel 3’ through the article to keep it simple) has to do with the improved camera setup, mostly because the Pixel 2’s camera was so great. Many consider it to be the best in the business, and some would even say it’s even better than the recently launched iPhone XS (please argue in comments appropriately).

Moreover, all of the camera features Google introduced work well, in some cases incredibly so, but none of them feel exactly revolutionary.

Now in its third generation of Pixel smartphones, Google wants to tempt potential buyers away from its competitors with exclusive software features. 82% Google Pixel 3 XL retro review… should you buy it instead of a new BUDGET smartphone?
Source: Root Nation English EN→zh-CN
Going back to the beginning… Why is the Google Pixel 3 XL a drill? Because, firstly, it is loud, both in terms of the speakers and visuals. Further, it is a very narrowly focused tool that you either trust with your tasks or do not use it at all. This is a very narrowly focused smartphone, this is the vision of relevance from Google 4 years ago. And Google didn’t cram everything in here, so it’s not a Swiss Army knife. But they’ve put enough in here that this tool can poke holes in your problems so you can actually solve them. And secondly, a high-quality drill will work properly after 5 years, just like a new one. Therefore, if you are satisfied with a limited pool of features, you will not need anything else, besides this, for a very, very long time.

Among big-screen phones, the Pixel 3 XL is the one to beat when it comes to camera performance and AI. The iPhone XS has a nicer design and more pure performance through its A12 Bionic chip. And the Note 9 has the Pixel 3 XL beat for productivity with its S Pen. The new Huawei Mate 20 Pro and its three rear cameras also show a lot of promise.

Google Pixel 3 XL review: Android's new hotshot phone
Source: Pocket Lint English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
In many ways the experience of the Pixel 3 XL is enough to keep its rivals at bay. While other flagships get cluttered and overcomplex, the Pixel 3 is serene by comparison, acting as an Android poster phone, with value even in its old age.

90% Google Pixel 3 XL review
Source: Tech Advisor English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
The Pixel 3 XL is still a decent Android phone despite the introduction of the Pixel 4 range. The display is outstanding, the design is finally premium and the camera is one of the best ever seen on a smartphone. A fairly high price tag is no longer an issue thanks to a significant drop, so the 3 XL is a value choice if you don't need something brand new.

The Google Pixel 3 XL is the best big-screened camera phone you can buy today, one that’s able to capture stunning photos that your friends won’t believe came from a smartphone. You’ll have to be okay with its prominent at the top of the 6.3-inch display and the higher price, a familiar trade-offs for a little extra screen space in 2019. It’s battery life is bigger, too, and the main reason to choose this phone over the otherwise similar 5.5-inch Google Pixel 3.

Google Pixel 3 XL: One year later
Source: Android Guys English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
I can’t recommend the Pixel 3 XL right now based on its price. There are too many options that are simply better phones for close to the price. Google seemingly can’t drop the price either due to the recent release of the Pixel 3a and 3a XL. Those phones do 90% of what the 3 and 3 XL do but at half the cost. If I were going to recommend a Pixel device to pick up right now, it would be one of those.

And that's the point of the Pixel 3: turning Pixel into a platform. Like the iPhone, Google is putting the user experience ahead of the specs or features enthusiasts crave. It may be a tougher sell—especially at premium prices—but it also comes with a guarantee few other phones can offer: This time next year, it’ll actually be better.

95% Google Pixel 3a XL review: You should buy this instead of a Pixel 3 XL
Source: Neowin English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
For just $479, half the price of many flagship phones or less than that, you're getting one of the best smartphone cameras on the market. You're also getting a solid FHD OLED display, which has cool features like Now Playing. And of course, you get all of the other nice things that come with having a Pixel. You'll be among the first to get Android feature and security updates, you'll be able to enroll in beta programs (although the Pixel 3a XL was pulled from the Android Q beta for the time being), and you get a stock Android experience. This phone is a solid buy, and unless you really care about wireless charging, I'd even recommend it over the Pixel 3 XL.

80% Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL review: A Pixel for everyone
Source: India Today English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
Absolutely yes, if you want a phone with great camera. The newly launched Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL smartphones offer the very best of the original Pixel 3 smartphones at a considerably low price. They have a design that is deceivingly similar to the Pixel 3 smartphones and key 'Pixel-y' features such as Active Edge, Now Playing and Digital Wellbeing that work flawlessly. They also offer a fantastic camera experience that is close to flagship Pixel phones. And the best of all, even though they are a bit pricey, they don't cost a fortune like the Pixel 3 smartphones.

The Pixel 3a XL isn’t a flagship rival by any means. But for $479, it doesn’t have to be. By delivering on the important things you really want from a smartphone, it’s a viable option if you’ve had enough of paying top dollar for your mobile device but don’t want to resort to a bare-bones phone just to save some money.

Google Pixel 3 XL review, 3 months on: Almost perfect
Source: Android Central English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
With this much time using the Pixel 3 XL, my conclusion hasn't particularly changed: "I will have no hesitation in recommending the Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL to anyone who asks me what the best Android phone is." No phone available today is perfect. And no phone ever can be perfect for even a majority of people — let alone everyone. But the Pixel lineup is approaching perfection; Google just needs that final bit of polish and execution to make its ideas really shine as a cohesive unit. But even as it stands, flaws and all, the Pixel 3 XL is fantastic.

Two months in and I have to say the third generation Pixel devices are nothing short of amazing. Following some software growing pains, the flagship has come into its own. With the countless holiday deals going on (currently at least $150USD off the $899 retail price), you can pick up a new Pixel 3 XL (and the smaller Pixel 3) for a decent price, along with a good case for it.

There’s a lot to recommend here. Set in an imperfect Android world where security vulnerabilities, malware and other issues are weekly news events, and where even major manufacturers have flawed update records, the pure Google ‘monthly updates’, only days behind the OS code itself being fixed, take some beating. And are worth paying for.

Overall, it's really difficult to recommend the Pixel 3 XL to anyone without multiple caveats. While it's still a good phone all things considered, you can get a better phone overall for that price and you can most certainly get a phone that does 90% of what the Pixel 3 XL does at around half the price. In the end, the value proposition is just not there and while it's difficult to put a price on the software advancements that the Pixel phones bring, we think Google also needs to start doing better in other areas if it's going to continue pricing its phones this high.

It is kind of ironical, though. Right until the Nexus 6P, Google’s phones were known for their phenomenal turn of speed and butter smoothness, at relatively affordable prices. And for having adequate rather than exceptional cameras. The 6P changed all that and the Pixel era saw the phones emerge as the frontrunners in camera photography. Unfortunately, this seems to have come at the cost of the very virtues that made the Nexus great – performance!

The Google Pixel 3 XL is the best big-screened camera phone you can buy today, one that’s able to capture stunning photos that your friends won’t believe came from a smartphone. You’ll have to be okay with its prominent notch cut out at the top of the 6.3-inch display and the higher price, a familiar trade-offs for a little extra screen space in 2018. The Google Pixel 3 XL continues to deliver on the promise of jaw-dropping imaging performance. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 paired with Android 9.0 make the Pixel 3 XL a solid performer for any and every task, regardless of how demanding it may be. However, for a smartphone priced at Rs 83,000 for the 64GB variant, the Google Pixel 3 XL feels grossly overpriced, given that it doesn't support expandable storage, doesn't sport an HDR10 compliant display and still doesn't have a secondary rear camera. The Pixel 3 XL asks a huge premium for the peace of mind that every time you take a photo, you're going to have a winner on your hands.

I am going to keep this simple. The answer is "absolutely". If you want a phone with the best camera, get the Pixel 3 XL. If you want a phone that will get the latest Android updates, and will get the clean Google's Android, get the Pixel 3 XL. If you want the best Android phone, get the Pixel 3 XL, or the Pixel 3 that costs less at price of Rs 71,000. At a starting price of Rs 83,000 it is also an expensive phone but unlike the Pixel 2 XL, this time around it is also a phone that gives you more for the money you spent on it, whether it is the screen, design or the camera. It's just that it's still not the best phone for most people. That in my opinion remains the iPhone XS, although that phone also costs more with a starting price of Rs 99,900.

Ultimately, Google seems to have balanced things nicely with the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. If you’re in the market for a new smartphone, do yourself a favor and check them out.

We only have three years of Google-made phones to look at, so it’s too early to tell if the company is going to fall into an Apple-esque pattern of alternating between big, flashy phones one year and “S-year” updates the next. But to me, the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are quite a bit like the S-year iPhones.

Google Pixel 3 XL Review: The Best Smartphone Camera in Your Pocket
Source: Fone Arena English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
The Google Pixel 3 is a great phone but more than that, it is a way for the company to showcase its software prowess. In many ways, it is easy to see hardware limits as challenges for the company. 4GB of RAM too less? Nah, we’ll show you what optimization can do. Or perhaps the battery? While competitors fit in 4000mAh units, Google manages to match up with a smaller cell. Nowhere is it more evident than in the camera performance where the Pixel 3 handily smashes the competition.

Google's Pixel 3 smartphones are probably one of the worst kept secrets in the entirety of tech history. The phones leaked in their entirety in weeks leading up to launch, and one retailer in Hong Kong even started selling the Pixel 3 XL ahead of time.

90% Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL First Impressions
Source: NDTV Gadgets English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version

Google has, until now, released flagship smartphones under its Pixel series. The 3a and 3a XL change this with their midrange pricing. The premise of these devices is flagship cameras on a budget, but how well has Google executed this idea? Read on to find out in this detailed review.

90% Google Pixel 3a XL review, one year later: Still the best camera under $500
Source: Android Central English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
The Pixel 3a XL continues to be a great phone a year after its launch. The interface is still fluid and lag-free, you get a 3.5mm jack, vibrant OLED panel, and excellent battery life, and the promise of quick updates. But the main reason for buying the Pixel 3a XL in 2020 is the camera — and the phone continues to lead the way in this area. You're not going to find a $500 phone with a better camera in the market today.

For the most part, the Pixel 3a XL makes the right compromises to hit a more affordable price point. This is the same Pixel experience you get on the full-fat Pixel 3 right down to the image quality. An affordable phone, however, this is not. In markets like India, fierce competition makes the Pixel 3a XL hard to justify unless an excellent camera is your primary motivation to buy a premium smartphone.

Budget phones have long made sense for most people. If you can pick up 90% of the phone for 50% of the price, that’s a good compromise, right? It seems that while the logic is there, consumers disagreed. Flagships are still the most exciting thing in Android with most headlines dedicated to new chapters from Samsung, LG, and OnePlus.

While it’s nice to have the latest flagship device, it isn’t necessarily necessary. For what most people use a smartphone for, the Pixel 3a XL is a fantastic choice — especially considering it comes with the same great camera as its more expensive counterparts. If you’re in the market for a new smartphone, you should definitely check out the Pixel 3a XL or the slightly smaller Pixel 3a and save yourself more than a few dollars. There’s no doubt it is deserving of a Top Pick of 2019 Award here at Techaeris.

Google Pixel 3a and 3a XL review: Mid-range smartphones never looked so good
Source: New Atlas English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
In summary, Google has packed these phones with slower processors and cut back on some of the premium materials used in the Google Pixel 3 flagships launched last October. Importantly, that fantastic single-lens rear camera stays the same – you should be able to get the same shots from either the mid-range or flagship Pixels.

The Google Pixel 3a XL Review: Does Mid-Range Make Sense?
Source: AnandTech English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
In terms of design, there’s nothing really exciting about the Pixel 3a XL. Google opted to keep it safe, avoiding any notch or fancier screen design, and simply went for the larger top and bottom bezels on the front of the phone. Whilst this isn’t a terrible design choice, it’s to be noted you can get a lot more modern looking phones from the competition.

80% Google Pixel 3a XL review: don't mourn the notch
Source: T3 English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
Want the mind-bogglingly awesome Pixel 3 camera and lashings of screen real estate, but don't fancy coughing up £869 for the Pixel 3 XL? Google Pixel 3a XL is impossible bargain. Granted, there are some compromises – the screen isn't as good, and it's unwieldy compared to rivals with all-screen designs. But the notch-less Pixel 3a XL remains an impressive mid-range smartphone, with fast-charging and three years of the latest Android OS features guaranteed – no mean feat at this price point. That said, all of these features can be found on the Pixel 3a, which is £70 and less unwieldy thanks to its (slightly) smaller 5.6-inch display.

All that said, if your priorities don’t match mine, couldn’t care less about the Pixel experience, or you prefer a more trendy phone, there are plenty of alternatives. The new Huawei P30 Lite is one. Priced at just S$398, the P30 Lite features a 6.15-inch teardrop display, runs on Huawei’s midrange Kirin 710 processor, comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, and offers a triple-lens rear camera setup. The newer S$849 Oppo Reno, which has a faster Snapdragon 710 processor, a notch-less display, a dual-lens rear camera, and an A.I.-powered Ultra Night Mode, is another interesting phone that arrived in stores recently.

74% Google Pixel 3a XL Review: How Much for that Camera?
Source: Tech PP English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
All of which makes the Pixel 3a XL a very hard sell at Rs 44,999. Yes, its cameras outgun everyone else in that range (and a little above it as well) it is no match for the budget and lower-premium flagship segment which bring better processors, more RAM and storage, better displays, bigger batteries, in-display fingerprint scanners and a whole lot of fancy notch placements and designs to the party. Indeed, at the time of writing, some online retailers were selling the Pixel 3 XL for a price in the vicinity of Rs 55,000. It is not as if the Pixel 3a XL is a bad device. It isn’t. It just is a little out of place in the current market scenario.

Google Pixel 3a XL Review
Source: The Mobile Indian English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
Google has for sure cut some corners with the Pixel 3a XL. The polycarbonate body looks quite dated and there is no waterproofing or wireless charging support like the Pixel 3 lineup. However, the software does the real magic here. The smartphone, despite sporting a less powerful chipset, delivers almost Pixel-like experience. The cameras are the strong points of this device and it is certainly best-in-class. Battery life is decent as well and the display looks good, though it lacks HDR support. If you are one of those who want a pure Android experience along with some good camera performance, then Pixel 3a XL is best suited for you.

The Google Pixel 3a XL makes for a great big-screened Pixel 3 alternative, without the price tag. It nails the software and camera experiences so important to capturing the feel of the full-fat Pixel 3 series, in spite of its more affordable nature. However, its price tag places it up against more capable and more powerful rivals.

Generally the camera is great with a very occasional misstep when performing portrait mode photos but as you can see above most of the images were great. The Taiwanese Google branch have done a great job bringing the Pixel camera quality to the mid-range. There is no other mid-range phone with a camera this good.

Its design may not be head-turning, but the Google Pixel 3a XL packs a punch internally and has a great camera for the price. It's some of the best of Google in a phone, at a lower price tag than previous Pixel handsets. You won’t get the best processing power or lots of storage, but when you’re paying a lot less that shouldn’t be so much of an issue.

So again, she may not light up the benchmarks, but for all it does so well, its fabulous camera and its aggressive price point, you really can't go wrong with the Google Pixel 3a XL and likely the standard Pixel 3a as well, if you're looking for a smaller device. Google incorporated much of what mainstream consumers are looking for in a device with the Pixel 3a series, and at a price point that the masses can justify. No doubt, these new Pixels will sell like hotcakes with their excellent battery life, and in a saturated market of devices well north of $600 or $700, most times with a similar feature set. With the Pixel 3a XL and Pixel 3a, Google just nailed the mid-range smartphone.

Google Pixel 3a to 3a XL: Differences, Hands-on Review
Source: Androidbeat English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
Android power users should still be tempted to still look for the original Pixel 3 XL at clearance or second-hand prices, because of the faster chipset, the possibility of 128GB storage, the more balanced speakers, the Qi charging and the official waterproofing, and damn the notch! For the mainstream, to get Google’s software and updates along with that camera system at half the cost of many flagships, means that the Pixel 3a XL should do very well indeed. If you want a more compact feel in the hand and lower price then go for the smaller ‘3a’, but the 3a XL definitely has its own place in the Pixel Continuum.

In India, this is just too expensive for the kind of specifications it is packing, and the kind of features that Google has removed. Yes, the camera is excellent, but that alone cannot justify the price tag. There’s certainly a compromise here in terms of the overall package, and it appears more ‘premium’ than ‘affordable’ in India.

100% Google Pixel 3a XL review (early verdict): don't mourn the notch
Source: T3 English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
Want the mind-bogglingly good Pixel 3 camera and lashings of screen real estate, but don't fancy coughing up £869 for the Pixel 3 XL? Google Pixel 3a XL will seem like an impossible bargain. Granted, there are some compromises – the screen isn't as good, not to mention it's plasticky and unwieldy compared to handsets with all-screen designs.

80% Google Pixel 3a XL review: The best camera gets cheaper
Source: Android Central English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
Releasing the Pixel 3a lineup halfway through its flagships' product cycle appears like a strange move, but Google admitted during its recent quarterly earnings that it's not selling as many Pixel 3s as it would like; the high-end phone market is seriously competitive. So where is the remaining growth opportunity? In markets where the Pixel either doesn't yet sell, or is too expensive. Places like India, Latin America and parts of Europe where the Pixel brand doesn't hold sway. By introducing a sub-$500 phone to those regions that promises to offer the best camera you can buy, plus three years of platform updates and security patches, feels like a pretty shrewd move. We'll just have to see if it pays off.

Google Pixel 3a XL Camera Review in Daylight

Coming to the final judgement, the Google 3a XL overall captures some detailed shots. The colour reproduction is quite close to the source and the sharpness is impressive in nature. The phone delivers output, which is almost identical to the Pixel 3 lineup. Using Portrait mode was a sheer delight with the Pixel 3a XL. However, it does take some noticeable amount of time in processing as compared to Pixel 3. This is mainly because of the absence of Google’s Pixel Visual Core. That said, the phone does an excellent job when it comes to the broad daylight performance, though selfie experience is not that great.

We've still got plenty of testing ahead of us before we can say if Google's delivered value for the Pixel 3a XL's sub-$500 price tag. Don’t think of the new 3a XL as just Google’s cheap new phone — that’s selling it short. It might not have the same kind of horsepower as the original Pixel 3, but the 3a XL offers just about everything else that made last year’s models compelling at a steep discount. Even beyond the basics, the 3a XL features a few touches that fans have been clamoring for, like a headphone jack and the biggest battery Google has ever put into a Pixel. In building this phone, Google tried to bring some of its best work to a wider audience, and the work has paid off. Here’s hoping it doesn’t fall prey to the kind of performance issues that started to plague the Pixel 3 after launch.

Pixel 3a vs. Pixel 3: 3's the New Lucky Number

83% Google Pixel 3a review: The phone made for everyone
Source: Android Authority English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
This is the phone that should work for everyone. The Google Pixel line has long been called one of the greatest Android experiences on the market. Now, the search giant has a phone that is much more accessible for a larger portion of the market. For $399 (or less), you get the best features from the Pixel 3: camera quality and consistent Android updates. No phone in the Pixel 3a’s class comes close to capturing as nice of photos or matching its update schedule. There are some trade-offs, though, by going the budget-friendly route. You don’t get waterproofing, wireless charging, or premium glass, but you do still get a solid all-around package. As a bonus, it comes with a headphone jack. Google has finally made a phone that includes almost every feature that makes the Pixel lineup so popular in a budget-conscious package. Toss in the fact that virtually every carrier (other than AT&T) will sell the phone in their stores, and this phone should be an instant success.

Despite an exceptional camera and a handful of useful software tricks, the Pixel 4 and 4 XL didn't blow us away this year. That's because the phone has an average battery life that rivals easily outlast, it has limited storage, and other phones have excellent cameras with their own impressive low-light modes (like the iPhone 11 and OnePlus 7T).

The Pixel 3a is a great mid-range option for those who want a Pixel but can't afford the real deal. There might be more powerful and flashy phones at this price but Google offers something different. Google Pixel 3a review: The affordable Pixel champion
Source: Talk Android English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
If you made it this far in the review, congrats. It’ll all be in the final exam. The Pixel 4 devices are now hitting store shelves with intriguing new hardware and advanced facial recognition that replaces the traditional fingerprint scanner. It kind of follows Apple’s Face ID footsteps, but things must evolve. The starting price is $799, while a new Pixel 3a with the same general experience sells for only $399. You’re also getting a 3.5mm headphone jack and rear fingerprint scanner, both of which are absent on Google’s latest. The larger Pixel 3a XL is less than a hundred dollars more at $479. There are amazing phones out there like the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and OnePlus 7 Pro, but pound for pound (as they say in boxing), the Pixel 3a is the Android phone of the year.

With a slew of attractive mid-range devices now available in the competitive smartphone market, there’s pressure on the big players to provide more affordable options. As such, Google, Apple, and Samsung all now have more budget-oriented versions of their flagship devices available to help keep customers loyal. In the case of the Google Pixel 3a, the most significant difference is its cheaper chipset, so it’s not as powerful as the flagship Pixel 3.

If your budget is anywhere from $300 to $500, it’s probably the phone to beat. If your budget is higher, like in the $700+ range, you should probably buy a phone in that range, like a OnePlus 7 Pro, Galaxy S10, or Pixel 3. The Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL are not better than any of those phones, but they are still excellent for the price. With the 3a and 3a XL, you get a really good camera, software experience that won’t get in your way, software updates that others won’t see for months, and a non-fragile plastic body that’ll relieve some stress from your life. The Google Pixel 3a is a new midrange contender that excels in many areas. be it the pure Android experience, an excellent 12.2 MP camera that puts its triple-camera rivals to shame, and an impressive OLED display with support for HDR. In addition to that, you get the unlimited Google Photos storage, Google Playground AR, and stereo speakers. Unfortunately, the Pixel 3a also receives some of the criticisms came from its bigger siblings, you don’t get a dual-SIM functionality, no microSD card support and no 3.5mm audio jack. Not only that, but the Pixel 3a also carries large display bezels and plastic casing design in a segment where you can easily get better-looking design and full-screen display options.

Flagship phones aren’t going away. Yet at a time when even early-adopters are having second thoughts about $1k+ handsets, it feels like we’ve finally turned a corner in the midrange. Having to compromise in order to spend half what you might on a modern-day flagship phone doesn’t surprise me. What does is just how impressive the Pixel 3a still feels, even after Google’s cost-cutting. Assuming you agree with its decisions, there’s a deeply compelling argument here about what’s “good enough” for most users.

The Google Pixel 3a is a phenomenal bargain at $399 (and $479 for the XL model). You’re getting so much for your money, including that brilliant camera and an amazing software experience. Sure the device has some flaws, like the somewhat cheap plastic build quality (when other devices in this class use flagship-grade metal and glass) and a lower end processor than we’d like. However, the pros far outweigh the cons. If you’re looking for a great phone that doesn’t break the bank, this may be your best choice. In fact, you just might be persuaded to take the Pixel 3a and its amazing camera over a flagship smartphone like the OnePlus 7 Pro or even the Samsung Galaxy S10+. Google Pixel 3a to 3a XL: Differences, Hands-on Review

It’s somewhat amazing how well the Pixel 3a (and 3a XL) have been received by the tech media, given that these two handsets have been massively leaked for many months now. Much of the praise – as here, with me – has to come down to the Nexus-era price points. That Google hasn’t had to sacrifice too much in terms of hardware in order to get here is to its credit and everyone’s benefit.

Google Pixel 3a Review: The Most Powerful Camera Phone at the Mid-Range Price
Source: Igeekphone English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
The essence of Google is still not a hardware company, which can be said to be reflected in the introduction of AI and Pixel 3a at the I/O conference last night. For the use and polishing of hardware, Pixel 3a still has a certain gap with the main mainstream level. But Google never needs too much hardware stacking, and only through software optimization, algorithms can make up for these defects, and even bring a better experience.

Hands on: Google Pixel 3a Review
Source: Trusted Reviews English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
The Pixel 3a doesn’t quite bring back the pure bargain-basement pricing structure of the brand’s once-fabled Nexus series. However, it does lower the barrier of entry for anyone wanting a fantastic camera on a smartphone.

Google Pixel 3a initial review: The 'Lite' Pixel still brings camera clout
Source: Pocket Lint English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
We like that Google has opted to build a more affordable version of its pure Android smartphones, and even used some smart AI to ensure the camera and performance is pretty much the same in daily interactions.

90% Google Pixel 3a Review: A new Nexus
Source: Mobile Syrup English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
In fact, the more I use the Pixel 3a, the less I think I would recommend the Pixel 3 over it. Even taking into account the Pixel 3's frequent price drops, the Pixel 3a offers, in essence, the same experience as the Pixel 3 at a much more accessible price point.

Sure, the phone world has largely moved on to skinny screens and multi-lens cameras. You don't get any of that here. The vanilla Pixel 3 has also been out long enough now that there's not a massive gulf in price between the two, so the 3a isn't an outright bargain.

90% Review: The Google Pixel 3A And 3A Xl Are The Cheap Android Smartphones You’Ve Been Dreaming Of
Source: Best Products English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
The Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL are available to order from Google’s own online store, as well as T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon Wireless. There are three colors to pick from: Just Black, Clearly White, and Purple-ish. Overall, Google deserves a hat tip for making its affordable smartphones available from so many retailers.

100% Google Pixel 3a review: A budget-friendly behemoth
Source: It Pro English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
The Pixel 3a is an absolutely phenomenal device, not only surpassing Google's previous efforts, but also giving the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S10 a run for their money. If you’re looking for an outstanding phone that isn't going to blow a hole in your budget, this is what you’ve been waiting for.

The Pixel 3A Puts Google’S Phenomenal Camera In A $400 Phone
Source: The Verge English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
But I do know this: I have been waiting for Google to make this exact phone for something like five years. Google used to make phones that were ridiculously good for the price. 2013’s $349 Nexus 5 is still the pinnacle of an inexpensive, excellent phone. Since then, prices across the industry have gone up, up, and up again. So I am glad Google is getting back to those roots. This is the kind of phone Google should be making: something really good and really affordable.

Google Pixel 3a review: Hands-on
Source: Tech Advisor English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
The Pixel 3a provides that Google design, physically but also in software which is important when it comes to the camera. Of course, there are downsides such as a lower grade processor, lack of waterproofing and no wireless charging but these a necessary to achieve a lower price point.

Pixel 3a XL vs Pixel 3 XL
Source: Tech Advisor English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
There are, then, some fairly significant differences between the Pixel 3a XL and Pixel 3 XL. Depending on your priorities, and budget of course, you might well be happy with the trade-offs and consider the 3a XL to be a better-value phone. But if you’d prefer the security of the 3 XL’s water resistance, the convenience of wireless charging and the power of the faster processor, you may be happy to spend the extra on the 3 XL.
