Reviews for the HTC One Mini
The agony of choice. The small version of the HTC One is the manufacturer's deliberate attack on the success story of the Galaxy S Mini series. The HTC One Mini takes up the fight equipped with a 4.3-inch screen, a Snapdragon dual-core SoC and HD resolution. Its opponent is the recently introduced Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini.

HTC’s official retail price is Rs 36,790 but you can find it online for as low as Rs 33,000. Considering you can get much more powerful handsets for cheaper, the One mini is highly overpriced. In fact, the entire One series is overpriced and we can’t figure out why. If you love this sort of form factor, then we recommend you take a look at the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini. It’s almost Rs 10,000 cheaper, is lighter, has more RAM and support for microSD card up to 64GB, a faster CPU (1.7GHz), a bigger battery and has IR. The S4 mini is no competition to the One mini in terms of build quality and design, but then again, I find paying so much more for an aluminium shell a bit absurd.

Pros: Aluminum design is solid and premium, complemented by fantastic Super LCD 2 display. Decent (but not high-end) performance from the Snapdragon 400. Cons: As neither a premium nor cheap 4.3-inch device, the HTC One presents better value for money. The "Ultrapixel" camera is still disappointing, more so without OIS.

The HTC One Mini was an attempt in HTC offering a smaller version of its popular HTC One. The HTC One Mini may not have the high-end specs of the HTC One, but for a product its size, it’s an extremely impressive smartphone. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a larger screen, more internal storage space and high-end specs, we wouldn’t blame you if you picked up the HTC One instead. Regardless of which device you pick up, we’re confident you’re going to be enjoying your experience for a long time.

The HTC One Mini is a sexy smartphone that combines a gorgeous 4.3-inch display and powerful front-mounted speakers in a one-hand-friendly package. At $99, the aluminum-clad Mini is $100 cheaper than its bigger brother, but that cost savings comes at the expense of some performance and TV remote control capability (which we can live without).

That’s still good for a mid-range phone, and if you want an HTC One but can’t quite stretch your hands or wallet around it you’re unlikely to be disappointed with the Mini. Just make sure you also take a peek at the Nexus 4, which remains the budget phone closest to the top of our list of the best phones in the world right now.

Would we recommend the HTC One Mini? Absolutely - the mid-range market renaissance is something we didn't expect, but is an area that HTC is intent on winning - and we think it's managed that with the One Mini. So if you're looking for a cutting edge smartphone that takes all the great elements from the world's best handset and crams them into a smaller frame, you should really check out the HTC One Mini. We promise you won't be disappointed.

The HTC One Mini is a beautifully designed, highly functional handset that is only beset by sub-par battery performance. If you’re looking for a smaller version of the HTC One or a replacement to your iPhone, then the HTC One Mini could be just what you’re looking for.

The HTC One is a very nice mid-range smartphone. The phone cuts as few corners as humanly possible in its endeavour to offer users several of the full-sized One's strengths, including Ultrapixels and Zoe. For this reason, while we'd have liked to see a slightly speedier processor and longer battery life, the phone is still a good choice for business folk on a budget.

The HTC One mini isn't as good as the HTC One. Its performance is decent but not spectacular, and the addition of a layer of plastic has removed some of the original's chic. But this is a very strong handset at a decent price. Well worth a look.

In the end you’ll have to base your decision to purchase this device on whether or not you’re willing to make a trade-off in size and for a few odd features for a lower price point. If you’re not seeing this decision between the HTC One and the HTC One mini as a trade-of, and instead simply want a smaller device that fits your hand better than the original, then you’ll be good to go! In the end, this machine takes everything that was great about the HTC One and jams it into a smaller package.

Is this the best HTC phone? Not quite. The HTC One is a strong contender for best phone ever (from any manufacturer) and the lower specs here stop this phone from beating it. But if you have hands that find the HTC One just too hefty, or if a big phone isn’t your style, this is a sensational phone with a decent processor and excellent camera.

Would we recommend the HTC One Mini to a friend? Of course not - it's not out yet. But we would urge anyone looking to spend around £25-£30 ($40) a month on a phone contract (that's a rough estimate, as we don't have final pricing for the HTC One Mini) to wait and check out this phone, when it's launched in August.

The HTC One Mini looks set to be a popular phone - as it takes most of what made the HTC One great, but packages it in a cheaper, easier-to-hold Android phone. Although pricing has yet to be confirmed, we expect the Mini to sport a similar price to its main rival - the Samsung Galaxy S4. Stay tuned for a full review...

In fact, it makes us wonder whether Samsung will think about refreshing the Galaxy S4 Mini in the meantime, as it's now very likely to be second best to this little nugget - and even Apple's cheaper iPhone, which is likely coming later this year, will have more of a fight on its hands than it would have previously been expected to encounter.

The goal of the HTC One mini is to bring the high-end user experience of the original HTC One to a much larger market. This is never easy to do this, but I’ve been impressed by how HTC managed to optimize the cost structure, without proportionally altering the original experience. This is the result of a carefully planned extension of the HTC One line of product and overall, it works. In the meantime, I really recommend reading our HTC One review, since it will give you a very close idea of how it feels to use the HTC One mini.

The HTC One Mini hands-down the best looking Android phone under 30k. The phone’s clean user interface does full justice to its elegant design. As far as the look and feel goes, HTC has nailed it. We also liked its screen sharpness and sound quality. On the other hand, its camera and performance are not up to the mark. If HTC gets the price down by around five grand, we wouldn’t recommending this phone. However, at the moment the LG Nexus 5 and Nokia Lumia 925 are much better options in this price bracket.
