The Honor 8 Pro builds on the solid foundations of the Honor 8 and takes a running jumping leap with it all to become an excellent value flagship phablet that you can get for below RM2K. Initially priced at an RRP (recommended retail price) of RM1999, you can now get it at some sellers for RM1839 and you’ll be hard pressed to find a similar 2K display smartphone within this same price range.

Honor 8 Pro is attractive, well-built Android phone that offers great battery life and excellent cameras on board. If you are looking for a high-end phone that costs under Rs 35,000, Honor 8 Pro is the one to look forward to. But there are still a few drawbacks to consider. The software experience is still cluttered compared to that of OnePlus 5.

All said and done, the dual camera on the Honor 8 Pro is nothing short of magical. Such finesse is rare, if not unheard of, even in phones that cost 10 to 15 thousand more than the 8 Pro. The images clicked from it show accurate colors, ample details, phenomenal contrast and awesome dynamic range. Huawei has put in a lot of effort in beating conventional smartphone photography constraints and it shows.

Honor 8 Pro is a visually appealing, well-designed with excellent performance. In addition, the battery lasts long even though it has a 2K display and a powerful Kirin 960 CPU. The dual camera is satisfying and takes on the rivals like OnePlus 5.

A couple of years ago, it was relatively routine to have a device with Android flagship level hardware in the sub-Rs 30,000 – in 2014, we had the OnePlus One, the Mi 3 and the Nexus 5 in that zone. Today, however, that space is relatively empty, with perhaps the OnePlus 5 (which starts at Rs 32,999) coming closest to it. The Honor 8 Pro slips into that category very comfortably with its combination of big display, big battery, big memory and big storage. And at the time of writing, it is comfortably by far the best device you can get for under Rs 30,000.

The Honor 8 Pro is an accomplished all-rounder -- it has a great high-resolution display, mighty impressive cameras, top of the line internals, snappy performance, classy looks and impressive battery life. At Rs 29,999, the smartphone poses a very real threat to the OnePlus 5 and is very easy to recommend to anyone who wants an extremely proficient smartphone but does not want to spend flagship level money.

Overall, the only other smartphones that comes close is the OnePlus 3T that currently retails on Amazon at Rs 29,999. At that price you get a processor that is half a year old, a smaller battery, a Full HD display and a decent low light camera.

It’s got the best chipset in the house, a high-resolution display that looks gorgeous, latest Android out of the box, and a good enough dual camera… all packed in a very stylish and solid chassis. There’s not much to complain, really. The Honor 8 Pro is nothing short of a fantastic flagship smartphone in 2017.

The Honor 8 Pro when compared with the OnePlus 5 is a step ahead when it comes to features and a step back when it comes to the Price. There was no competition at the Rs. 30K price level and now there is and customers have an advantage now, they get an option to choose from.

The Honor 8 Pro is a premium phone with an effective dual camera and a high-end chipset, and it’s still cheaper than the competition. So, if you are comfortable with a big display phone, and are looking for something under 40K, the Honor 8 Pro is definitely worth considering.

Honor has built the Honor 8 Pro with the best technology it has to offer, which is at par with some of the best in the industry. The Kirin 960 processor is the most powerful silicon that Huawei currently makes, even though it falls behind the Snapdragon 835. The Honor 8 Pro also runs latest version of EMUI. Compared to the OnePlus 5, you get twice the storage and a higher resolution screen at an even lower price.

Overall the Honor 8 Pro is a good device for what it offers. The build and design of the phone is fantastic and everyday work happens very smoothly on the device. There isn’t a game or app that didn’t perform on the phone. The battery life is decent. If there is a downside, it’s the viewing angles and overall brightness of the display. The camera performs well in well-lit situations, but falls short in light photography.

Honor 8 Pro’s beautiful 5.7-inch 2K screen, slender design, and long-lasting battery runtimes (4,000 mAh) are enough to fascinate the people. Although the glass back on the Honor 8 is too good to forget, the metallic body and slim design on the Honor 8 Pro feels very premium and cannot be overlooked. The dual 12 MP camera, stuffed with a variety of modes, appears to be quite impressive and offers decent image quality.

Honor has come a long way since its first smartphone launch. Priced aggressively at 29,999, it's going to compete in the upper midrange segment and will definitely pose tough competition to the recently-launched OnePlus 5. Some of the top features of the Honor 8 Pro include a 4,000mAh battery and a premium design, all of which come at an affordable price. If you won't mind looking at alternatives in the same price bracket, you can check out Samsung's Galaxy C9 Pro.

After spending a day with the smartphone it seems that the Honor 8 Pro is a step up for the Honor lineup. The Kirin 960 is currently Huawei’s top-of-the-line SoC and promises good processing power, and the 6GB of RAM will help with multitasking. We are also waiting to see how the Kirin 960 fares against the recently launched Snapdragon 835. Pricing will be crucial for the 8 Pro, as the OnePlus 5 is a serious competitor. Stay tuned to Gadgets 360 for our full review of the Honor 8 Pro.

The best chipset of the house and a high-res screen, backed by the latest Android, certainly help the Honor 8 Pro live up to its name. Not only does it look the part but it sure can act like a pro too - even if it's not quite Leica pro.

Honor essentially took the Honor 8 as a base, enlarged it and fixed some of the flaws and shortcomings to create the Honor 8 Pro. The Honor 8 itself is a great phone and the 8 Pro is even better. The lack of 4K recording, the slippery design, battery life and many other aspects have been addressed. The audio department could still use some improvement but nonetheless, it seems to offer more value for money than the Honor 8 did. However, that precisely was the problem of the Honor 8, at least in India where it was priced much higher than it should’ve been.

The Honor 8 Pro might not be quite as future-facing as 2017's latest flagships, but it's still a decent affordable phone. At this price point, given all the power and capability on board, it's a real alternative to consider over the OnePlus 3T should you not want to go and spend mega bucks on the priciest of handsets.

The Honor 8 Pro is an accomplished, well-rounded phone, but one that's just lacking that killer feature to take it from good into the realms of greatness. It’s easy on the eye, offers plenty of power and has a sizeable battery, but there’s nothing to get truly excited by.

The Honor 8 Pro takes off where the Honor 8 left, adding a larger display, a faster chipset, more memory, and a bigger battery, all in a very slim and elegant metal body. That being said, it doesn't differ all that much as a concept – it still offers a dual camera with depth of field tricks, very good battery life, and the same pretty, functional interface, all at a price that undercuts the direct competitors just enough for potential users to pay attention.

Honor is typically a company you’d associate with value focused handsets that sit firmly in the mid-range The Honor 8 was a major success, sporting sleek styling, good pricing and plenty of features. The company has now decided to release a ‘Pro’ version of that very device, which has it’s self set on being a flagship killer. Boasting top-tier specs and an attractive price-tag, can it tempt you to part with the Samsungs and Apples of the world?

So maybe you won’t have a FullVision screen or Infinity Display. You won’t have lenses coming from a famed camera maker. And you won’t have fancy features like a new smart assistant, two square screen side by side, or iris recognition. But at $590, you will get almost the best hardware and the best features. That makes the Honor 8 Pro the smartphone to beat this year.

Although we’ve only spent three days with the Honor 8 Pro so far, we’re definitely impressed. This handset costs roughly £100 less than many other flagship smartphones, yet boasts pretty much the same features. In fact, we have to wonder why you’d bother buying the Huawei P10 Plus when you could save some cash and get more or less the same device here.

There's lots of things we've not had a chance to test properly, like the 4K video and whether it really will feel like new in six months time. But everything that we have tried suggests that this is another flagship killer from Honor, a mid-year substitution that is going to give the Honor 9, whenever that arrives, a lot to live up to. If you like a big screen phone, it comes highly recommended.

The Honor 8 Pro is an impressive phablet, with the kind of specs that would have cost £600-700 just a year or two ago. The fact Honor can deliver them for less than £500 is a superb effort.

The Honor 8 Pro is definitely one of the unexpected surprises of the smartphone market this year. You would have never expected that Honor, whose smartphones so far have been on the far side of mid-range, would come so close to Huawei’s own flagship while still remaining within reach for many consumers. That translates to around 500 EUR, roughly $540, still well below the $700-800 tags on this year’s premium handsets.

My time with the Honor 8 Pro has been quite short, and I've yet to give it a full workout. What I can say is that it's well built and well specified, and also relatively affordable. As such, it's likely to give some of 2017's premium flagship handsets a good run for their money.

Add the Huawei Honor 8 Pro to your list. The unlocked 5.7-inch handset is an upper-midrange phone that comes with some impressive hardware specs. Its most compelling features: the dual-camera setup on the back and the 4,000mAh battery, which Huawei says will last more than a full day and closer to two.
