Reviews for the Honor Magic7 Pro

The HONOR Magic 7 Pro is a flagship smartphone with a 6.8-inch OLED LTPO display featuring a 120Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, and ample memory. The device runs smoothly, easily handles a full day of active use, and supports 100W charging, wireless charging, and reverse charging. The cameras are top-tier, though the AI is still not perfect. The main question is whether it’s worth spending over $1100 on the Magic 7 Pro. On one hand, there are new features or improvements on existing ones: 3D face unlock, AI functions, and air gestures. On the other hand, there are some drawbacks: the slippery body and the bulky camera module, which makes it difficult for the device to sit steadily on a flat surface without a case.

If the predecessor was a wonderful flagship-grade Android smartphone under S$1,500, then the Honor Magic7 Pro repeats that with better AI integration and an updated chipset - a huge leap from before. For the same price (S$1,399) and the same starting storage (512GB), it’s still a steal, especially when more expensive flagship phones start at 256GB at higher prices. While its premium competitors come with better polish, Magic7 Pro doesn’t skimp out on a fantastic experience with a high-quality display panel, stronger audio, and top-tier IP rating protections to match up on hygiene factors. A really good alternative is the OPPO Find X8 Pro (S$1,649, also 512GB), which does everything the Honor Magic7 Pro can do but with better polish, better AI integration, imaging quality, battery life, and a less annoying camera housing design.

The Honor Magic 7 Pro’s priorities are a little too close to those of Samsung’s latest flagships for my liking, pushing gimmicky AI additions that few users are likely to need over tangible hardware upgrades. And yet the one area in which it should be copying Samsung – namely, offering seven years of software support – continues to be overlooked. The Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset may be one of very few actual hardware upgrades, but it’s a good one, delivering exceptional performance and balancing out the smaller battery to keep stamina near the top of the class.

Maybe, but at roughly $1,300 after conversion, you may want to think it over. Other good phones come at that price. If you’re fine with losing out on Harcourt portraits, the Magic 6 Pro is a good alternative for less money.

Clearly, the HONOR Magic7 Pro features advanced features that befit its status as the first flagship phone for 2025, especially with its fast performance and improvements in AI functions. However, the pill-shaped cutout on its screen could affect your viewing experience. If you don't mind that, the Magic7 Pro is a solid flagship device. Suitable alternatives include the OPPO Find X8 Pro (RM4999) and vivo X200 Pro (RM4699) for advanced photography functions. However, neither phones have Honor-exclusive AI functions like AI Deepfake Detection.

Honor has crafted an incredibly compelling smartphone in the Magic 7 Pro. The device's hardware is stellar, its camera system is reasonably performant, and its processing power and battery life are both rock solid. I'm less fond of the company's MagicOS Android skin from a UX perspective, but the company's commitment to updates and security patches is a big win. The various AI tools are rather hit or miss, and the lack of Qi2 charging magnets is a real shame, but the package is otherwise excellent. If you happen to live outside the US, then the Honor Magic 7 Pro is a great choice that's worthy of consideration. The device deserves to stand alongside the best flagship Android phones, and in some cases, it even manages to best the competition outright.

The Honor Magic7 Pro display performed well in our tests, providing a good user experience across all technical attributes, especially in touch. The Honor Magic7 Pro’s reading experience is satisfactory across typical lighting conditions, but it has shortcomings when it comes to challenging environments. The minimum luminance level is a bit higher than that of competitors in this segment, something that impacts the user’s comfort in specific dark environments, such as viewing the screen in the middle of the night. However, while the device’s peak luminance was lower than some competitors, the outdoor brightness level remained consistent for all types of displayed content, which was not the case for most competitors’ devices, whose display luminance decreased as white areas on the screen increased.

If you’re in the market for a smartphone with the latest camera tech, and the latest AI features, as well as (currently) the fastest Qualcomm processor ever made, which runs at a whopping 4.3GHz, then the Honor Magic7 Pro ticks a LOT of boxes, and you can get a lot of very good results from the cameras on the phone. However, if you want a perfect phone, this is not it. Which is a real shame, as I’m a big fan of using telephoto cameras on phones, but I’m left wishing this one was better. I’m hopeful that software updates can fix some of the softness and colour issues I experienced with the telephoto camera on the phone. However, it’s the shiny chrome finish around the camera lens that is a huge issue when you’re taking photos of anything reflective, such as through glass, as these will end up being captured in your photos on bright sunny days, and if you’re using the phone for video work, then you’ll probably want to cover this in a completely black case.

To be fair, the Honor Magic7 Pro never got that toasty in games like Genshin Impact, even with the graphics maxed out, and with frame rates set to 60fps. The game was smooth, and looked great on the phone's bright display. However, these settings are quite power-intensive — even the phone's hefty 5,850mAh battery depleted by around 10% in around half an hour. But unless I was gaming for hours, I could easily get a day to 1.5 days of use before having to charge the phone. The good news is that the Honor Magic7 Pro supports 100W wired charging, up from its predecessor's 80W. There's also 80W wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging, too. At S$1,399 for the base 12GB + 512GB model (and S$1,699 for the 16GB + 1TB version), the Honor Magic7 Pro costs the same as the previous model.

HONOR has made some much-needed improvements to the Magic7 Pro, making it worthy if you’re thinking of upgrading from an older Magic smartphone and wanting to stick with the brand. That being said, it costs quite a lot more than its competitors for not that much in terms of benefits. If you put the value proposition aside, I do think it’s one of the best smartphones currently available on the market. However, two major Android brands are about to release their flagships here in a couple of months, so HONOR may not have snatched the crown just yet.

From the moment you pick up the Honor Magic7 Pro, it’s clear this is a device that means business. Everything about it screams flagship, from the solid, reassuring build quality to the sleek design – the squircle camera module on the back and the lunar grey finish look fantastic. Flip it around, and you’re greeted by a display that’s just as impressive – a sharp, vibrant screen with excellent color reproduction and brightness levels, and thankfully no curve to the screen. When it comes to cameras, the Magic7 Pro adds a standout new 200MP 1/1.4” telephoto sensor, although the other cameras remain the same as last years model. Image quality is good but not class-leading, with some heavy and inconsistent processing. But the real story lies in the AI software.

The software side of this phone isn't as good as OxygenOS, although it's certainly come a long way since earlier versions. You've got some respectable AI features packed into the Magic 7 Pro, if not quite as good as Google or Samsung's efforts. Plus a gaming mode when you get your Genshin on. It's the camera tech where the Honor Magic 7 Pro excels. That zoom lens can capture some sharp and beautiful portrait and action shots from a distance, while the video capture also impresses. Likewise, the Honor Magic 7 Pro is fantastic for gamers. Wuthering Waves and other intensive titles play with a fluid frame rate, even on higher visual settings. Battery life is good too, even if we get a smaller capacity cell here in the EU and UK.

The Honor Magic 7 Pro is an outstanding phone that impresses in almost every area. The screen is one of the best around, the performance is exceptional, and the battery lasts longer and charges faster than most. The cameras are amazing at times, but the consistency could be better, and the software won't be for everyone. So, it might not be perfect, but the Magic 7 Pro is easily one of the top Android contenders, and well worth your consideration.

Unfortunately for HONOR, we’re spoilt for choice for brilliant smartphones right now, and the Magic 7 Pro’s £1,100/€1,300 asking price isn’t going to undercut them. The affordable OnePlus 13 ($899.99 at OnePlus) has smashed it out of the park for the first time in years, OPPO has returned to Western shores with the superb Find X8 Pro (£1099 at Amazon), and there’s the trusty Pixel 9 Pro XL ($949 at Amazon) that hardly puts a foot wrong and is still the leader when it comes to AI tools that are actually helpful. And, of course, the Galaxy S25 series is just around the corner at this time of writing. Any of these phones would be a solid pick for a top-tier flagship phone, and some beat HONOR when it comes to long-term update policy.

The Magic 7 Pro isn’t going toe-to-toe with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra anytime soon and Honor seems to know that. Its decision to keep the price at £1,099 (around £150 cheaper than we expect the S25 Ultra to cost) is a smart one that positions the Magic 7 Pro closer to entry-level flagship territory. However, its Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, robust camera suite and AI trickery should mean it’s in a decent position to compete with Samsung’s range-topper. The upcoming OnePlus 13 is set to employ the Snapdragon 8 Elite for a couple of hundred pounds less than the Magic 7 Pro, so the latter’s photography chops will likely make or break its appeal as an alternative to the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max. I’m currently putting the Honor Magic 7 Pro through its paces so check back soon for my full review to see how the performance, stamina, display quality and cameras stack up to the competition.

With the Honor Magic 7 Pro, the company appears to have focused on improving the aspects that made the previous Magic 6 Pro great, while the line’s problem areas persist. The camera is divisive, in that it’s feature-packed and can take great shots, but inconsistency in image quality and the liberties features like AI Super Zoom take, won’t appeal to every user. Similarly, the phone is built to last from both a design and hardware perspective, with that Snapdragon 8 Elite chip offering plenty of future-proofed use, provided you can get on with MagicOS’ eccentricities.

Is the HONOR Magic7 Pro the right phone for you? As usual, that’s something only you can decide. We threw a bunch of information your way so that you can make an informed decision. This is a very compelling phone, it definitely is, with plenty of useful features, great in-hand feel, extremely fast charging, great audio, and so on. However, there’s a ton of competition out there in the market in this sector, and you have to ask yourself what exactly are you looking for in a smartphone. I would say that this phone does excel in some ways, but as I said… it all depends on what you’re looking for/expect.

There are a few scenarios where my recommendations for buying the Honor Magic7 Pro are clear. If you're considering it against the OnePlus 13, then unless you're very concerned about pricing, the Honor likely wins out for you. And if you're thinking about the Magic7 Pro against a Pixel 9 Pro XL, then it'll depend on if you want to spend your 1.1 grand on better hardware now with Honor or smarter software down the line with Google. The problem is if you're also weighing up buying a Samsung flagship phone. The Galaxy S25 Ultra isn't here yet, and while it'll presumably be more expensive again, it could offer upgrades that leave the Magic7 Pro in the dust. And the fact you'll have to order Honor's phone in from overseas in the U.S. makes the Honor less appealing for American buyers, too.

One thing that I love about this phone is the face unlock. It is unlike anything I have previously used. HONOR says in its documentation that it uses 3D Face Recognition, and it really shows. When I pick the phone up, it immediately unlocks, so I only have to swipe from the lock screen. I literally cannot fault it. It seems like it does not require you to point your face to the screen at all for it to recognize you and unlock; it is just super fast. The same can be said of the fingerprint sensor; it is quick.

It’s time for some tough questions—and even tougher answers. The Honor Magic 7 Pro is undoubtedly a great Android flagship. It builds upon the success of the Magic 6 Pro, with improvements in the chipset, telephoto camera, and the addition of even more AI features. It also brings some very interesting eye protection technology to the global audience. The flat screen is a welcome upgrade, as is the symmetrical camera housing. Overall, the design of the Magic series has matured into something recognizable, comfortable, and stylish all at once.

Honor continues its streak of excellent smartphones with the Honor Magic 7 Pro, offering a comfortably flagship experience in almost every area, including design, durability, screen tech, camera performance and power. With that said, this is what many would consider an iterative upgrade with improved durability, a new processor, a slightly better telephoto camera and, rather awkwardly, a smaller battery than both the Magic 6 Pro and the 2025 flagship competition. Instead, it relies mainly on new AI features to separate itself from its predecessor, and that’s a bit of a risk considering key new additions like Super Zoom AI aren’t all they’re cracked up to be in real-world use. Still, the vast majority of consumers would be more than happy with the hardware and software on offer from the Honor Magic 7 Pro – just maybe not Magic 6 Pro owners.

Honor did all the right things with the Magic 7 Pro. The design makes the device better to hold and use, and it should have better durability as well. The high-quality AMOLED panel combined with all the eye protection features Honor included makes the screen on the Magic 7 Pro one of the best around, and there are absolutely no issues with color vibrancy or brightness levels. There's nothing wrong with the hardware either; the phone blazes through demanding games, and while it gets hot during extended gaming sessions, there are no problems with throttling. I didn't have to worry about the battery running out before the end of the day, and while it doesn't last as long as the X200 Pro, it easily manages a day and a bit even with heavy use.

The Honor Magic 7 Pro is the newest flagship phone and it brings the newest and best Qualcomm chips, and excellent display panel and a triple camera system with a really good zoom -- but not the best zoom. The phone also offers real 3D face unlock, eye tracking, and a host of AI features.

The Magic7 Pro does a lot of things right - to the high standard you'd expect from a top-shelf model - and it also manages to stand out in a couple of ways worth mentioning. At least two of them can be found in the pill-shaped cutout in the display - the selfie camera and the 3D face scanning bits that you can't get on all that many Androids. The unusually loud speakers are also possibly a selling point. Honor's approach to zoomed in photos starts off promisingly with a sizable sensor, but is a bit of letdown in practice because of the added digital magnification. The smaller battery capacity for Europe-bound units is also a questionable development and one that is preventing the Magic7 Pro from achieving its full potential. In the end, the Magic7 Pro isn't bringing us the level of camera excitement we hoped it would (and the level it just should be able to attain with its hardware). It's also not a significant enough update to the otherwise pretty appealing 2024 model.

The Magic 7 Pro doesn’t leave you wanting for much. It has flagship performance, supermodel good looks, and features you won’t find on many Android rivals, like secure facial recognition. I wish battery life was just a little bit better, and Honor needs to commit to more years of updates if it wants to match Google or Samsung, but you’re otherwise getting an awful lot of phone for your cash. I was blown away by its photographic ability at times, with all three rear lenses really packing in detail and having no trouble capturing moving subjects. I wasn’t so sold on the AI super zoom or how it artificially inserted sun flares, and thought colour consistency between lenses could use some work, but there’s no denying the results can look particularly pleasing.

The Honor Magic7 Pro comes with a flagship-grade processor, a superb eyesafe LTPO OLED display, superb battery life and an immensely capable rear camera array. Where it gains the edge over the competition is its exceptionally durable chassis that mitigates potential mishaps like drops and nicks. In terms of pricing, our Honor Magic7 Pro review sample with 12GB RAM/512GB storage retails for RM4,599 which represents excellent value seeing its capabilities as well as its free bundled charger. If you need even more storage, the 16GB RAM/ 1TB variant for RM5,199 is also available for slightly more. Of note with the Honor Magic7 Pro that no other competing phone currently has at the moment is its unique AI Deepfake detection algorithm which adds a measure of security for video calls.

The HONOR Magic7 Pro isn’t a huge improvement over its predecessor, but considering how high of a bar it set in the first place, it’s not exactly easy to do so unless your focus is purely on performance. If you’re using the Magic6 Pro, it’s best to wait another year to make the upgrade more worthwhile but if we’re talking from the perspective of a 2025 flagship smartphone, this ticks all the boxes and then some. With its retail price of RM4,599, it’s going to be quite hard to beat.

It is, indeed, too early to say, especially as we don't know the global prices of this flagship yet. The Honor Magic 7 Pro features some upgrades to the camera system, both hardware and software, a larger battery, and faster charging (at least in China). The latest Snapdragon chipset is onboard to challenge other speed champions, and this time around the display is flatter. All this adds up to one very potent and interesting device that we can't wait to test. The most important thing here is pricing and availability. If Honor prices this flagship aggressively outside China, it has the potential to steal even more market share from the big guys.

As with every previous generation of Magic, the Honor Magic7 Pro is still full of sincerity in terms of configuration. Due to space and time constraints, we haven't even commented on the performance of the Snapdragon 8 Supreme Edition that it is equipped with, and the combination of ultrasonic + 3D Deep Sensing Camera reaches a very high level in terms of unlocking efficiency and security. It even supports such detailed features as Honor Surround Subwoofer and Smart Privacy Calling, which are quite excellent in many details of the experience.
