Reviews for the Huawei Nova 10 Pro

Undoubtedly, the Huawei Nova 10 Pro has an attractive design layout and astounding camera results. But the same quality isn’t replicated in the performance and battery life departments. However, the visual experience won’t be disappointing as it brings the latest features that are necessary for the flagship phone. On the other hand, the phone is hard to get outside of China’s smartphone market. In that case, you might want to investigate some other potential alternatives that are easily available in your country. We would suggest that you look into the Samsung Galaxy A53 because it has capabilities that are useful in a variety of situations and has support for long-term Android updates. Meanwhile, the final decision is in your hands, so choose wisely.

For all its undeniable strengths, the simple fact remains that you probably shouldn’t buy the Huawei Nova 10 Pro. The lack of Google Mobile Services is simply too prohibitive to overlook, making too many everyday activities into a chore. Still, credit where it’s due – the Nova 10 Pro’s display is superb. It’s large, bright, sharp, fluid, and extremely responsive, not to mention colour-accurate. The main camera, too, is capable of genuine greatness, while you’ll struggle to find a better selfie camera for the money. Even when placing the software situation aside, however, the Huawei Nova 10 Pro is far from a home run. Its ultrawide camera is poor, it lacks both 5G and wireless charging, and its performance is underwhelming. All in all, the Huawei Nova 10 Pro is a phone that makes a strong first impression, but it has too many flaws (one of which is fatal) to even be in the conversation as a mid-range option.

Huawei’s hardware holds its own against the competition for the most part, especially thanks to the excellent main selfie camera and slender design, but the Nova 10 Pro is held back by the lack of 5G and official Google software support.

Is this a phone we recommend you'd get? Absolutely. It looks stunning, runs fast, takes great pictures, and features an impressive screen you'll simply fall in love with. At this price point, there's really no reason why you shouldn't get the Nova 10 Pro.

The main advantages of Huawei nova 10 Pro include a bright design, excellent cameras and many photo opportunities (including for vloggers), high performance, fast 100 W charging in 20 minutes, curved OLED screen with increased refresh rate and high resolution, 256 GB of memory, excellent stereo sound, convenient EMUI 12 shell. However, for the sake of objectivity, it is worth pointing out the moments that we liked less: the lack of a mini-jack for wired headphones, the lack of Google services (but this is a solvable problem). You can also mention the lack of 5G (due to sanctions imposed on Huawei), but LTE speeds are quite sufficient for today. The price may not be low, but it’s adequate, considering the screen, cameras, battery power and more. Therefore, we are happy to recommend Huawei nova 10 Pro.

The BUT is coming, though, and it's a big one. The phone is running an already old Android 11, and there are no Google apps and services, and some apps and games just can't do without Google Mobile Services (GMS). The video quality is not up to par, too, something we must hold to a higher standard when it comes to a phone marketed for its camera prowess. The Huawei nova 10 Pro is an expensive smartphone, yet it has no ingress protection. And it has no 5G support because of the US ban, which is still in force. At the end of this review, we can't but like the nova 10 Pro, though we think its pricing would make it a tough sell. The regular nova 10, on the other hand, is pretty much the same phone but cheaper and without the portrait selfie camera. The regular nova 10 is the better deal of the two, at least until the nova 10 pro's price drops substantially. Or you can always consider any of the alternatives we mentioned above.

The Huawei nova 10 Pro is another excellent entry to the company’s already impressive lineup of mid-rangers as we found in our review of it for the Philippines, though we still don’t know how much it’ll be officially. That’s a bit of a quandary because if the Huawei nova 10 Pro featured in this review follows the same pricing in the Philippines as it does in the EU, then you’re looking at an SRP of around Php 40K (the phone has a price of EUR 699 in Europe). That’s a bit steep for a mid-range phone, and might be a deal breaker for people looking to get into it.

It's really hard to review Huawei phones nowadays. The company makes really good hardware, and it's a shame that it's not allowed to support it with more mainstream software. There's no other way to put it - leaving aside the political part of it. The Nova 10 Pro is indeed a sleek and lightweight, ample midrange offering, with a great display, full retail package, and top-notch charging. Whether or not people will decide to go the adventurous route and deal with Huawei's AppGallery and re-learn and re-adjust to all the alternative software solutions, it's a hard question to ask, and answer for that matter.

The Huawei Nova 10 Pro suffers from the same problems as every Huawei device before it over the past two years, and that is that it’s hard to recommend to just about everyone. I reviewed the Huawei P50 Pro earlier this year and absolutely loved it, and I’m really getting a sense of what the company is doing when it comes to AppGallery. Despite all of that, currently, it’s extremely difficult for me to switch over full-time. It doesn’t have everything that I need, and even though it’s getting there, it’s not there now. In other words, until it gets there, it’s hard to recommend it. The cameras are excellent, but between the pricing of this device (€699 is quite expensive for what’s on offer here) and the difficulty some may have as an average consumer, I don’t really know how to recommend this phone. If Revolut was your main bank and you didn’t care about getting email notifications always on time, then maybe this phone would be an easier sell. Currently, though, it isn’t. As much as I’d love it to be. For what it’s worth, this phone is a good omen that Huawei is really listening to and that things are moving along. AppGallery is improving day by day, and with localized approaches to each application service (there are Irish versions of apps on AppGallery, which is pretty impressive to me), it’s beginning to reach a point where I think I can recommend it. That day isn’t here yet, but a viable competitor in the space is, at the very least, always good for consumers. This is also a unique-enough phone in the features that it has cobbled together that I think Huawei is starting to figure out that to thrive, it needs to find a niche that works. This may well be the start.

Huawei's entry to the mid-range market for 2022 is competitive, offering a sleek, attractive device with lots of high end flagship features. You can't ignore the limitations of EMUI in western markets, but things are slowly getting better and you'll not find a selfie camera system quite like this anywhere else.

The Huawei Nova 10 Pro is a new mid range smartphone from Huawei with one overt focus – taking the best selfies possible. Having had an opening to go with it, the dual sensor front camera has a lot of cool features, but questions remain about its lack of 5G support and its EMUI OS which has less apps than the more common Android and iOS platforms.
