The Nova 3i has all the right specs but fails to bring them cohesively together to forge an identity of its own.

As a mid-range model, Huawei Nova 3i is a balanced phone with a premium build. If you are a light or a moderate smartphone user, then Nova 3i would be a worthy companion. If you are a multimedia enthusiast who uses his phone for hours on end, the phone can still manage with some hiccups like slow charging, battery drain during GPU-intensive gaming and multitasking. Overall, with its durable design, FHD+ display, quad AI cameras and a massive 128GB internal storage, this phone is the premium model of the sub-25K price range and recommended if you wish to stay within the sub-25K budget.

OK, there is the Notch too – Huawei cleverly offers to turn that into a top bar. And a dual camera on the front- interesting. But it is that gorgeous 82.2% screen-to-body-ratio that makes it look more impressive than the price dictates.

The Nova 3i is Huawei’s first step into the budget segment, in which its sub-brand Honor has been fairly popular. The Nova 3i competes in the same price range as the Oppo F7 (Review) and the Vivo V9 (Review) but feels premium compared to them thanks to its glass and metal body. However, it also has to go up against the Honor Play (Review) which has gained popularity for offering the powerful Kirin 970 SoC in the sub Rs. 20,000 segment.

At a price tag of Rs. 20,999, the Huawei Nova 3i is just another average smartphone with a good display, attractive design, good performance and worthy cameras with AI. It lacks fast charging and 4K video recording. Hope Huawei the price of the smartphone comes down in coming months to compete with other players. The company’s own Honor Play that is Rs. 1000 cheaper offers better value for money, and there are other new contenders in the market like the POCO F1 by Xiaomi that offers a better package at the same price, if you can get one in its weekly sales.

Put it this way – I’m considering buying one. It’s gorgeous to look at and taking into account the hardware, performance and camera, put simply, there’s no better place to spend $599 at the moment.

For Rs. 20990/- the Nova 3i is a steal if you are looking for a pretty phone and if you are ready to compromise on the dash charging and the shortage of RAM.

Huawei Nova 3i is a toned down version of Nova 3. The phone comes with a glass design and it is the first phone to feature the latest Kirin 710 chipset. The battery might be a concern here, while it would be interesting to see whether the four cameras will do a good job or not. As for the competition is concerned, the phone will be pitted against Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, Oppo F7 and more.

One of the highlights of the two new phones is the new AI shopping capability that Huawei has developed in partnership with Amazon India. With the help of AI, the software on these two phones can help identify a product you want to purchase and point you to it on Amazon.in, along the lines of Google Lens and Samsung Mall. It works in two ways - you can either take a photo of a product, or long-press on a photo from the gallery to reveal links to similar products. While we did not get enough time with the units at launch to check this feature out for ourselves, the demo shown on the sidelines looked promising. We will be testing out the pros and cons of the software on the Huawei Nova 3 and Nova 3i very soon.

Huawei did a fine job last year on the Nova 2i by packing a mid-range smartphone with above average specs then sell it at a very competitive price point. They used the same formula with the Nova 3i but gave the hardware and design a significant bump.

The Huawei Nova 3i is a huge upgrade from its predecessor that was once hailed one of the best mid-range phones last year. Is it an heir to the treasured mid-ranged throne? Well, it certainly has a strong, legitimate claim to it.

大尺寸可以让屏幕有更高的分辨率。因而例如字体等的细节将会更丰富。不过另一方面,小屏幕的功耗会较低,而设备也会更轻盈小巧,售价更低。
