戴尔Inspiron 15-5547是一款坚固，但有些保守的设备。戴尔的中低端多媒体笔记本电脑变得更轻更薄，同时保持了前作较长的电池续航。它的维护升级也变得更加方便了：打开后盖只需要卸下两颗螺钉。它的设计很好(拉丝金属的上盖材质给人高端设备的感受)，做工质量也不错—考虑到它的价位的话。Wi-Fi信号接收质量很高(和它其他的连接性一样)同时它的键盘也十分易用。

它的显卡有一个不必要的限制：由于戴尔采用了64位而非竞争对手常用的128位内存位宽，显卡的速度会比通常情况下慢很多。另外，这款笔记本运行温度很高(尽管这很少发生，但也需要提到)。它的扬声器质量平平，它的屏幕色彩还原问题也很严重，甚至让人有时难以分辨不同的颜色。
