There are two unavoidable truths about the AT&T G Pro: it's $100 cheaper on-contract and better specced than AT&T's Note II (hello, Snapdragon 600!). For what LG's crammed into its oblong shell, the G Pro really is a bargain for power users. But it has one ugly mole (no, not that AT&T globe) that not even its stunning 1080p display can overshadow, and that's its less-than-stellar battery life.

The LG Optimus G Pro is a rather fine piece of machinery. It’s offers you an alternative to the HTC One and/or Samsung GALAXY S 4 here up on the top tier with its similar display (larger, though again, with the same amount of pixels), identical processor, and surprisingly similar set of features. It also offers you a unique hardware build and a camera that’ll go very nearly toe-to-toe with the leaders.

Softwareanpassungen sinnvoll

LG’s Optimus G Pro is available online for a smidge under Rs 40,000, which is an expensive buy now that the Galaxy S4 is down to Rs 36,500. If screen size is what you’re looking for, then Samsung’s Galaxy Note 2 is still a very relevant option and is a lot cheaper too. We feel the G Pro has entered the market a little too late and a price cut is in order if LG wishes to move them off the shelf. Some of the standout features includes the gorgeous screen, incredibly snappy response, good battery life, IR blaster with the very handy QRemote app and a form factor that’s not terribly unusable for one-handed operations.

If you're considering a purchase of the Optimus G Pro, the phone's large, 5.5-inch screen is likely a key feature that has caught your eye. Indeed, the screen looks great, and the fact that it supports Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution is a definite selling point as well. However, although the Optimus G Pro's large screen is definitely an attractive feature, the resulting increase in the phone's footprint will deter some users.

LG’s Optimus G Pro is king of the small—but growing—phone/tablet hybrid market (I refuse to use the term “phablet”). It’s a performance powerhouse that, despite its large size, is relatively comfortable to use even with average-size hands. The G Pro loses a few points for its limited multitasking features, but if you’re looking to buy a large Android phone and aren’t dismayed by the underperforming camera, then the G Pro is definitely worth considering.

In a mini-frenzy. The smaller version of the giant high-end smartphone finally fits in anyone's pocket and houses many of the same hardware components as the larger flagship model. But the LG G2 Mini can't fill its big brother's shoes.

The LG G2 Mini shares a lot of qualities that some of the premium LG smartphones have. You could argue that that the processor is slightly under-powered, but to be fair, a slightly faster processor and higher resolution screen are additional resources that would have placed an extra burden on the device and significantly reduce the exceptional battery life.

Ultimately it is hard to recommend the G2 Mini over something like the Motorola Moto G, which has a superior screen, similar performance and very good battery life. Only the camera on the LG device is clearly better. This doesn't tell the whole story though, as the G2 Mini is a very nice device to use and has a compelling overall proposition. It just lacks a few key refinements and could do with either packing a higher resolution screen or a lower price to really be a standout device.

The G2 mini is almost exactly what you'd expect it to be. A smaller of the flagship G2 but the build quality and specs take a serious dive. The saving grace is a decent camera but it's worth paying the extra for the now heavily reduced G2. If your budget won't stretch, check out the Sony Xperia M2.

It might be pocket-sized but that doesn't mean the LG G2 Mini shouldn't pack a punch. So while there's a strong physical resemblance to the G2 we'd like to have seen a little more of the G2's power. But as ever, a lot will depend on the price tag and if you're looking for a more compact handset, with a decent Android operating system and a wide range of top-end software tricks then the LG G2 Mini could be a solid option.

The LG G2 mini is a handset that could have, and should have wowed. Instead I’ve been left frustrated with yet another leading manufacturer that has failed to make a truly representative flagship spinoff at a size that is appealing to the masses. After first use I would say that, if you can afford to, don’t wait for the mini to hit stores, splash out on the LG G2 now instead.
