As a capable gaming computer and an everyday workhorse, the Lenovo Legion 7i 16 Gen 9 is an exceptional value. In my opinion, the only obstacles preventing this PC from being a complete home run are its distracting noise levels and its poor battery performance. That said, the Lenovo Legion 7i 16 Gen 9 offers plenty of desirable features for a reasonable cost. It's fun to use, it lets you get lost in your game library, and it has an overall aesthetic that is undoubtedly cool. For the majority of gamers, it's a win, and certainly worth your consideration. Lenovo's newest Legion 7in 16 Gen 9 is a powerful gaming laptop that offers an Intel i9 processor, 32GB of DDR5 RAM, both an internal Intel GPU and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070, and a gorgeous 16-inch IPS display. Gamers will delight in its exceptional performance and elegantly cool aesthetic. Though, the battery life and the noise levels of the machine leave a bit to be desired.

No, it’s not perfect, but the Lenovo Legion 7i Gen 9 checks all the boxes necessary to satisfy most gamers, especially those who want killer performance and a high-end display. However, if you want a machine with longer battery life and better audio, you can try the MSI Vector 16. It features an RTX 4080 for that superior power, but it’s $700 more than the Legion 7i. And you’d miss out on the Legion’s silky touchpad and faster SSD. The Lenovo Legion 7i Gen 9 is a wild performer and a great choice for most gamers who don’t mind using headphones and being plugged in. However, those scratches on the body are frustrating.

The Lenovo Legion 7i Gen 9 stands out as a well-rounded, high-end gaming laptop. Though not cheap on its face, this laptop certainly is affordable, comparatively speaking, for what it provides. This is one of the trimmest and lightest gaming laptops with some of the best performance in its class, thanks to its Core HX CPU and GeForce RTX 4070 GPU. Our Glacier White review unit looks luxurious and well-built, and we also enjoyed its comfortable input devices and bright display. Nvidia G-Sync and longer battery life are wish-list items, but overall, this Legion is a fine choice—and Editors' Choice award pick—for a two-grand gaming rig.

And despite being a 16-inch system, the 4.5-pound notebook is the thinnest gaming laptop in Lenovo's lineup, making for a pretty portable system. And for the gamers who don't want a notebook that screams "I'm a gamer," you can simply turn off the backlighting and you'll have an elegant laptop that will fit in anywhere.
