Reviews for the Lenovo Tab Extreme

Straight talk: the Lenovo Tab Extreme huge, heavy and, annoying to carry around. It requires Lenovo's $150 keyboard case if you want to get any actual work done, on top of the tablet’s already steep $949 price. If you need additional storage, be prepared to pay for a MicroSD card, as well. If you're willing to pay that much for semi-portable productivity, you could just get a lightweight OLED laptop like the ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED. You'll lose a little screen size, but you'll get a display that's just as good for movies and a Windows-based system that offers much more compatibility for apps and connected hardware than Android. That said, the Tab Extreme feels great to grab off the nightstand when you're looking to unwind with some Netflix at the end of the day.

Anyone can make a big tablet; anyone can slap a flagship-grade processor into said tablet; anyone can stick an OLED screen onto their tablet, but it doesn’t mean a thing unless you can create an all-around powerful and usable experience. This is exactly what Lenovo did. The Lenovo Tab Extreme is a fantastic piece of hardware, and it’s the most powerful Android tablet I’ve ever used. The power and performance are top-notch, the software is well-optimized, the display is gorgeous, the speakers are amazing, and it’s all wrapped up in an incredibly sturdy and high-quality chassis. My only gripe is that the battery performance might leave you with an empty tank on long work days. However, you can always keep the charger with you. Would I recommend this tablet to others who want to get serious work done? Yes, I’d do it in a heartbeat!

The Lenovo Tab Extreme is a great Android tablet with a beautiful screen, elegant design and great accessories. While it can't catch up to similarly-priced big-screen tablets in terms of raw performance, even the most expensive tablets from Apple and Samsung can't match the Tab Extreme in terms of resolution or color reproduction. And while Samsung's Galaxy S9 Ultra looks remarkably similar yet performs better in many of our tests, it's also $100 more than the Tab Extreme. The fact that Lenovo's slate comes with a handy active stylus at no charge is also great, and it's a value Apple can't match. Of course I wish Lenovo threw the keyboard in at no charge as well, but it's worth splurging on if you plan to do a lot of typing on your tablet.

The Lenovo Tab Extreme is a big tablet, a very big one, that tries to be a laptop too – everything to all. It has a beautiful 14.5-inch display, great speakers and lots of power, making it feel worth the asking price of £900/$949+. Its shortcomings as a work machine become apparent at the same price as a good laptop, making this a great tablet, but too expensive for most.

The Tab Extreme is one of the best Android tablets we’ve tested for straddling work and play. It also sounds fantastic, and is neck-and-neck with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra as the best tablet for movie watching, bettering even the iPad Pro. Performance is reliably stable, even when working across multiple screens, and great battery life means Lenovo’s tablet is poised for long-haul flights and games aplenty. Lenovo’s design and accessories are also superb. Still, we can’t help but feel its hardware excellence isn’t quite realised. Occasional usability roadblocks hit home that Android still isn’t the tablet OS we wish it was. Some apps don’t look great in landscape, and not being able to drag windows across an extended display is a pain. These niggles hit harder given the price.

The Tab Extreme is an interesting device - a tablet that wants to grow up and be a laptop. From the size of its screen to the thought that has gone into its software and keyboard case, it's clear that Lenovo sees it as a slate on which 'serious' work can be done, and in a modern WFH context that proves to be surprisingly true. Its included software, particularly its ability to function as a second screen, makes it a versatile and useful work companion. Coupled with its excellent display, great keyboard case, premium build and powerful performance, this is a tablet that pretty much does it all. However, at the price, you need to really want a hybrid machine - and you need to be prepared to put up with the quirks and limitations of the Android tablet experience too. If it's just entertainment you're looking for, an iPad will serve you far better, for much cheaper.

Overall, the Lenovo Tab Extreme is a good tablet to consider if you want something that is huge and will act as a laptop replacement. The 14.5-inch OLED 3K display is gorgeous to look at, with vibrant and accurate color depiction, crisp text, and smooth scrolling and animations. It’s also great for media consumption with the eight speakers that surround the edges, helping to provide an immersive experience with rich Dolby Atmos sound. While the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 came out last year, it’s still a more-than-capable chip if you are looking to use the Tab Extreme for productivity and entertainment. I never had issues with the performance, and the large battery should get through the day without breaking a sweat. If you can get the Lenovo Tab Extreme in one of the bundles offered with the Precision Pen 3, Folio Case, and Keyboard Case, then it really is a great value.

The Lenovo Tab Extreme is a respectable Android tablet thanks to its beautiful screen, good build quality, speedy performance, and powerful speakers. Lenovo's optional keyboard accessory is built well and converts the tablet into a near-laptop replacement, and the included stylus works well for sketching and drawing. But the competition is fierce. The 12.9-inch iPad Pro and the 14.6-inch Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra both offer a richer experience, with Apple edging out both as far as optimized apps are concerned. If you're all-in on Android and you're looking for a big screen for productivity and entertainment, the Lenovo Tab Extreme is a viable alternative to the Galaxy Tab. If you're looking for a better tablet app and accessory ecosystem, look to the iPad Pro. And if you need a full Windows tablet, the Surface Pro 9 is our top pick.

Reviewing the Lenovo Tab Extreme, a 14.5-inch Android tablet with Precision Pen stylus and optional keyboard dock. I've been testing the Lenovo Tab Extreme for a week now and here's my verdict - is this one of the best multi-tasking devices of 2023? It's certainly one of the biggest, and my review sample came with a stylus and folio case bundled. If you want the keyboard you're going to have to pay extra. Still, the Lenovo Tab Extreme is certainly a solid option for entertainment as well as creators and workers. That mighty OLED screen and JBL speaker arrangement means movies look and sound fantastic. Plus the Lenovo Tab Extreme's display is ideal for working in lots of apps and editing on the fly. Battery life is among the very best of any tablet I've tested in recent times.

The Lenovo Tab Extreme doesn't set the world on fire and it doesn't blaze a technological trail for others to follow, and that's okay. What it does do is provide a very effective middle ground between laptops and tablets that acts as both a distillation and refinement of the long-running concept. It's a jack-of-all-trades (master of none), but as is usually the case with the overused analogy it's when you look at all of those good but not masterful aspects together as a whole that it really starts to shine. Again, it's not a powerhouse so even if you were to push outside of its Android defaults the Tab Extreme isn't going to replace your laptop. But (presumably) unlike your laptop it's big enough to give you a nice display along with the modular nature to shed some weight and dimensions as the situation requires.

The Lenovo Tab Extreme is Lenovo's answer to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. It's got a 14.5-inch OLED 120Hz display, with a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chip, and a very, very good keyboard case.

The Lenovo Tab Extreme is an obvious choice for anyone looking for a big Android tablet. But there's no compromise on power here. Although we have not tested the power to any great degree, having experienced this sort of loadout elsewhere, we're expecting the Tab Extreme to fly. The clever case and keyboard arrangement offers versatility, so you can practically use this large tablet to get to work, while the software customisations will allow more flexibility than some devices to take advantage of the space. There's a lot we don't know about the performance of this tablet, but first impressions are good. The question is whether the world is ready to accept Android tablets of this type again - or if the iPad Pro will just remain the defacto choice.

With a massive high-res OLED screen, clever features like the secondary monitor input and plenty of internal power, the Lenovo Tab Extreme certainly looks, upon first inspection, like it’s going to live up to its name.

The Lenovo Tab Extreme is very pricey, but it offers seriously strong features for the money, including a huge 14.5-inch OLED display, dual-mode stand, floating keyboard dock and pen input. And you can run up to four apps at once on screen.
