Reviews for the Lenovo ThinkPad 25
Retro rewind. What's old is new again in this special anniversary ThinkPad that throws out the AccuType keyboard in favor of the classic layout and design. Outside of the new keyboard, there isn't anything particularly new about the ThinkPad 25 that we haven't already covered on the ThinkPad T470.

Some will certainly complain about the price; at $1,899 it's not a bargain machine. On the other hand, the ThinkPad 25 AE is meant to be a durable workhorse more than a gaming or multimedia machine, but it can handle a bit of both those tasks with enough gusto for most mainstream users. However, as workhorse laptops go, the ThinkPad 25 Anniversary Edition certainly lives up to IBM and Lenovo's legacy.

I found Lenovo's ThinkPad 25 to be a thoroughly enjoyable machine, but the bottom line is that if you're considering buying it, get it for the unique features that it offers, or nostalgia. If you're buying it for the specs, ports, Windows Hello, durability, and other great but not unique features, there are better alternatives, like the ThinkPad X1 Yoga.

The satisfaction a user will feel with this notebook relies at least partially on their connection to the original. The ThinkPad is one of the most memorable brand names in notebook computers, and Lenovo knows it. They’re not about to let consumers forget it.

At the end of the day, the ThinkPad 25 is one of the best ThinkPads ever. Though a bit pricey, it lives up to the hype and is a great option for those who want a nostalgic looking device. It also packs surprising specs, a familiar design and build, a mass selection of ports, and has a decent touchscreen display. There’s the added plus of throwback features like a classic keyboard, and also modern touches like Windows Hello and a Precision TouchPad. Battery life is great, and the laptop will last a user all day long. Originally on sale for $1899, supplies of the ThinkPad 25 are very limited, but you can sign up at Lenovo to learn when it is available by clicking here.

The Lenovo ThinkPad 25 Anniversary Edition has the robust security features (including a fingerprint scanner and infrared camera for facial recognition) and the internal specs for heavy-duty business use, but its target demo is clearly die-hard fans of the ThinkPad line who want a special limited-edition laptop. It's not that the ThinkPad 25 is a poor machine – quite the opposite – but most business users value the ability to select from multiple laptop configurations, to avoid overpaying for features that aren't necessary.

Although we wish that Lenovo had gone a little further down memory lane by adding a ThinkLight, and given users the option of a non-touch screen model, this special edition laptop is a great choice for ThinkPad fans or anyone who needs to get serious work done.
