This is the thinner and lighter version of the standard ThinkPad X1 Yoga laptop and it has a titanium-carbon fiber hybrid top cover and it weighs just 2.54 lb / 1.15 kg. It supports both Wacom AES pen and touch, has Wi-Fi 6, optional 5G and a haptic trackpad. As always we cover benchmarks, upgrading internals and more.

Unboxing Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga, the convertible version of the ThinkPad X1 Nano. Along with the titanium lid, it has a Core i5-1140G7, 8GB RAM, and a 3:2 display.

Of course, we’ll have to wait to render our full verdict until we can test the keyboard and the rest of the X1 Titanium further, but it’s clear now that the new keyboard is not a definite step forward in ThinkPad design.

The new ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga uses expensive materials and is Lenovo’s new flagship business convertible. It is also the thinnest ThinkPad so far, but that results in some compromises, for example in terms of performance as well as input devices.

Lenovo has succeeded in producing the slimmest ThinkPad ever, and the eminently portable X1 has a robust design and a smooth convertible action. Elsewhere, it has a great keyboard, a bright display with a helpful aspect ratio and good security features. There are too many areas where this machine is merely ordinary, though. The low-power processor is fine for everyday computing but nothing more, and the ThinkPad lacks the physical connectivity offered by rivals. Battery life is fine but not outstanding, and the haptic trackpad isn’t particularly good. This machine is expensive, too: several rival machines are significantly cheaper. The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga has impressive design, a good display and a satisfying keyboard, but the high price and inconsistencies elsewhere make it hard to recommend unless you need the slimmest, lightest laptop you can get your hands on.

The X1 Titanium Yoga is the thinnest ThinkPad ever. At 11.5 millimeters (0.45 inch) and with a 13.5-inch 2K-resolution 450-nit display with a 3:2 aspect ratio, it doesn't take up much more space in a backpack than a spiral-bound single-subject notebook. It also weighs just 2.5 pounds (1.1 kilograms), which is barely more than the X1 Nano, Lenovo's lightest ThinkPad to date at 2 pounds (907 grams). Despite the thin-and-light frame, though, the X1 feels solid enough to hold up to being banged around on flights or an everyday transit commute. And that tall screen means you're getting more vertical space to work but the laptop is no wider than a 13.3-inch laptop. My point is, this is a great design for frequent business travelers and I didn't even mention all the privacy and security features yet. The X1 Titanium Yoga is a first-gen model, however, and while it's good, there's some room for improvement.

One thing we found really cumbersome is to find the specific target group of people for this notebook. And what is its biggest selling point? Is it the titanium material partially used for the build of this device. In that case, the laptop would be nothing more than a posh alternative. Or is it the 11.5mm profile? By itself, this is not a good enough reason to spend nearly $2000.

The ThinkPad X1 Titanium is a showcase of what Lenovo thinks business computing will look like in the near future. People want thinner, lighter laptops with high-quality screens and enough computing power to get their work done. The X1 Titanium achieves these goals with some controversial but innovative design choices, including a redesigned keyboard and a pared-down port selection. Will more 2-in-1 business laptops look like this next year? Probably, but we'd bet that the larger ThinkPad T series, as well as the ThinkPad X1 Yoga, will continue to be the go-tos in Lenovo's lineup.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga has really become my go-to PC for all of my needs. It's a laptop when I'm on the go, it's a whiteboard for when I'm brainstorming, it connects to my monitors for when I'm in my home office, and it has a pretty display for streaming.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium is an excellent addition that adds two essential features to the X-Series. First, the 3:2 display introduces massive changes in daily comfort and productivity, which is the prime reason for choosing this laptop. Virtually anyone will benefit from this, and frankly, I’m not sure why we don’t see more of these 3:2 laptops on the market, and the X1 Titanium is one of the most exciting. Secondly, the tablet mode (360-degree clamshell mode) is impeccable and the best I’ve seen to date in this size category. The thinness of the design makes a big difference in that mode and helps writing with the e-Pen as well. As we’ve seen, the performance and battery life are outstanding, and in line with what we would expect from a laptop like this. I highly recommend considering the X1 Titanium when shopping for a work laptop.

All in all, the ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga is an interesting bet. It’s clear that Lenovo has an eye on the traits that modern business users have been asking for: stylus support, the 3:2 aspect ratio, durability, and portability, in addition to the security of the vPro platform. The Titanium Yoga is the first iteration of a line that I’m very excited to see Lenovo making, and for that I think it deserves a high score. With that said, I won’t pretend it’s the most practical purchase out there. It’s a first-generation product, and — as is often the case with first-generation products — there are some kinks to be worked out. The limited ports, the finicky touchpad, the shaky hinge, and the thin audio could all be overlooked on their own, especially as understandable sacrifices for the portable build — but they’re a lot to stomach as a package. But the Titanium Yoga is still quite an achievement, and I can’t wait for the next one. If Lenovo works out the kinks, it’ll be a spectacular product.

Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga is a study in compromise. At a scant 0.45 inches thick it's the thinnest member of the ThinkPad family, but it’s also pricey, sacrifices ports, and lacks the staying power you'll find in marginally beefier machines. But maybe that's okay: the bright, 13.5-inch 2K display and sleek, ultraportable chassis makes it a strong contender for meeting your business-machine needs. It doesn't come cheap, though. If you can't find a good discount, this laptop can cost you over $2,000. And the X1 Titanium Yoga is stacked up against competitors that can offer just as much (and usually more), for less.

On paper, the X1 Titanium Yoga seems like a slam dunk: a thin yet super-durable machine with all the latest tech packed inside and out. The titanium chassis really is the perfect marriage of thinness and durability, and the 2-in-1 form factor works well when you want something portable. Like other super-compact ThinkPads, there are sacrifices made for that small size, like the keyboard and port selection, and they can make it hard to stomach the extra cost of the ThinkPad brand.

As I said before, the Titanium is a ThinkPad for the most part but in its pursuit of more casual features it differentiates itself from its cousins in ways that feel excessively premium. The reduced weight is appreciated but at the sacrifice of a familiar typing experience, quicker throttling of the CPU, tiny audio (the drivers are limited in space presenting a tinny auditory experience), and flex in the chassis, the X1's tradeoffs feel better suited for a highly productive executive than a content creator, coder, or process professional.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium is the company's thinnest ThinkPad to date and packs a decent amount of power hitched to a gorgeous display and lightweight but durable build. The innovation is costly though, and even entry-level models might price some people out.

The ThinkPad X1 Titanium is another excellent addition to Lenovo’s X1 lineup, joining its sibling the ThinkPad X1 Nano and ThinkPad X1 Carbon, but bringing some unique qualities to the table with its 3:2 aspect ratio and rugged yet thin titanium build.

A slick and refined ultra-book design made too thin to have USB Type-A ports or HDMI out. These omissions are balanced by two Thunderbolt 4 ports and the best Intel mobile platform we’ve seen for a while.

The ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga is a laptop of stand-out strengths and weaknesses. You don’t get the classic deep-dish ThinkPad keyboard quality, the hinge is noticeably wobbly, and the touchpad is poor. These affect the overall experience too much to be ignored. However, its combination of low weight, thin frame and rigidity are truly impressive. And I love that the screen can be used in direct sunlight with the backlight barely on, should you need to work outdoors for long stretches without a charger.
