Reviews for the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus

The Lenovo VIBE K5 Plus looked really good on paper, so we were a little surprised at its performance issues. Like the VIBE K5 Note, Lenovo has positioned the VIBE K5 Plus an affordable entry to VR with the capabilities to enhance your multimedia experiences with great audio and a full HD display; in this aspect, it definitely delivers. But before all that, a smartphone should deliver a smooth experience with day-to-day tasks and sadly it falls a little short.

You can’t talk about budget phones without mentioning the Redmi Note 3 and without a doubt, that phone is better than the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus. The former offered a better camera, faster processor and larger display for almost the same price. It’s not that the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus is a bad phone, it’s definitely not. It’s just that the phone doesn’t stand up very well against the competition in the sub-10,000 price bracket.

Overall, the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus is a good smartphone for the price of Rs. 8,499. It has a good display, good audio output and even a decent camera. It also comes with dedicated dual SIM and microSD card slots. The build quality could have been better, the metal rim on the sides are the back are prone to scratches easily and the battery life could have been better.

The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus is a device which comfortably fits in the mid-range with features such as a Full HD display, octa-core Snapdragon 616 processor and a 13MP camera, put together in a stylish body with metal back, it is definitely worth our while. As a small disappointment we can point out the battery life, which is not terrible, but could have been a bit better. We were satisfied by its produtivity provided by the mobile chip, and the external temperatures that did not increase extremely, even after a long stress test. Additionally, the Full HD display that offers great image quality is a big plus for this range. A lot of Lenovo’s models come with UI which includes many software features and extras which are not exactly needed. For better or for worse, their place is occupied by a good deal of pre-installed apps this time, the half of which will probably come in handy.

Priced at Rs. 8,499, the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus goes head-on with a number of devices in the sub-Rs. 10,000 category, many of which could give it a hard time. The Coolpad Note 3 (Review) is priced slightly higher at Rs. 8,999, but packs in a fingerprint scanner. The Meizu m2 note, priced at Rs. 9,999, could also pose some competition. The Yu Yureka Plus, priced at Rs. 8,999, might be slightly outdated but still offers a great camera and performance.

The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus isn't a particularly good phone. It doesn't match up to its competition, and there are better phones out there, including the Coolpad Note 3 and Meizu M2 Note.

At MWC 2016 we had the opportunity to go hands on with the Vibe K5 and Vibe K5 Plus, two new entry-level handsets from Lenovo, which were formally announced by Lenovo over the weekend. Priced under $200, what do Lenovo’s latest budget-friendly handsets bring to the tablet? Let’s take a quick look.

Though the Vibe K5 Plus won't stand up to the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S7, we think that for a price of only $149, it's fairly impressive. Featuring an octa-core Snapdragon 616 processor coupled 2GB of RAM, 13Mp camera and Dolby audio, it's not a smartphone to be sniffed at. We'll give the smartphone a more thorough review and verdict once we get it back to PC Advisor Towers and put it through its paces.

Thankfully, we took note and returned to Lenovo's booth for some hands-on time with the units. First things first - a quick specs rundown. Both models have a 5-inch display the difference being in the resolution - 720p for the basic one and 1080p for the Plus. Both LCD panels look perfectly adequate, although not exceptional in any way. Sharpness and colors seem good, but glare is perhaps a bit too much for our taste. Still, it might be the show floor lighting and we won't rush to any judgment.
