The Yoga Slim 7i shows you can get good performance and battery life from a Lunar Lake laptop — especially compared to Meteor Lake laptops like the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Ultra, which is nearly a full pound heavier, with a screen that tops out at 60Hz. As a laptop, the Yoga Slim 7i is fine but not exceptional.

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition is a solid 15-inch device with a handful of unique features. The Intel Core Ultra 7 (Series 2) chip provides fast, cool, battery-efficient performance, and everyday users will appreciate the nice display, comfortable keyboard, and marathon battery life. I recommend opting for the 32GB configuration, since the RAM is not upgradeable. This raises the price by $100, but it's absolutely worth it for future-proofing. Lastly, features like Smart Share are useful, but I would caution Intel and Lenovo alike from spending too much time on flashy tricks and instead focusing on enduring well-designed devices. The hardware here is impressive, and Intel's Series 2 "Lunar Lake" chips are absolutely worthy contenders to Qualcomm's ARM-compatible Snapdragon X Elite and Apple's M4 chips. Performance (and thoughtful, well-designed physical form factors) speak for themselves more than buzzy features ever will.

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura edition is a Lunar Lake refresh for one of my favorite laptops. It offers a vivid display, great audio quality, a stellar typing experience, and a polished design. However, it falls short of its Snapdragon-powered sibling, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x. The addition of smart modes and smart share helps the Aura edition stand out, but they may not be deal-breakers for many people. Unfortunately, the Yoga Slim 7i Aura edition lagged in our two most important categories: overall performance and gaming. While it had solid scores in our single-core and 3DMark Wild Life benchmarks, its multi-core performance was much lower than its rivals, and my hands-on gaming experience was hit-or-miss.

The Yoga Slim 7i faces some stiff competition among the limited number of 15-inch laptops. It’s just as well-built as its competition and it looks great. It’s very portable — though not quite as thin as the MacBook Air 15 — and light enough that you won’t mind carrying it around. It’s also surprisingly affordable, more so than the other two I’ve mentioned throughout this review. That makes it very attractive. It’s not the fastest laptop, but it gets very good battery life. If you’re looking for a larger laptop with a lot to offer, the Yoga Slim 7i should be on your list.

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition is another solid addition in Lenovo’s generally strong line-up of mid-range and premium Windows PCs. It suffers a few flaws, like a relatively small touchpad and a mediocre display, but makes up for its shortcomings with attractive design, a great keyboard, and class-leading speakers. Intel’s new “Lunar Lake” Core Ultra 7 256V, meanwhile, delivers a respectable performance uplift over prior Intel laptops, packs a great IGP, and brings battery life into competition with Qualcomm Snapdragon X laptops. That makes the Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition an excellent choice if you want a thin, portable Windows laptop that’s still versatile enough to handle productivity and entertainment with equal ease.
