Modern thin and light laptops are way more powerful than they were a few years ago, and the Yoga Slim 7i Carbon is a fine example. I highly recommended this machine if you are looking for a solid blend of style, mobility and reliable performance. Apart from being an excellent companion for productivity tasks, the sharp and colour accurate display is a treat for multimedia consumption. Performance is great, especially for an ultraportable notebook with snappy response and absolutely zero stutters or delays. There isn’t a lot to complain about this laptop, but I would definitely appreciate some more ports, maybe a full-size USB and maybe an audio jack, and of course a better quality webcam. As for the cost, Rs 1,31,991 isn’t the cheapest but it is definitely priced lower than most premium 13-inch ultrabooks in its class. Alternatively, you should also check out the Dell XPS 13 Plus, the newly launched Samsung Galaxy Book3 and the mighty powerful ASUS ROG Flow X13.

The new Yoga Slim 7i Carbon is exquisitely well made, impressively light and compact and it has a high-quality touchscreen display and decent battery life. Many will argue that limiting the physical connectors to two USB-C ports is a bit silly, but when other manufacturers are doing the same it would be unfair to criticise Lenovo too hard. At the end of the day, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbon 7th Gen has more features and no more idiosyncrasies than its competitors, which makes it a slightly more rounded package. If only it had a better webcam and came with a USB-C dock.

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbon is a super-light ultrabook with plenty of muscle. The screen comes with a high resolution and we like the keyboard, which is both backlit and offers a good tactile user experience. That’s why it’s all the more frustrating that the little laptop stumbles before the finish line. The screen’s brightness is too weak, the computer has almost no built-in connectivity options, and worst of all is the battery life, which is nothing short of outrageously poor.

Despite our comments about the performance, we are generally happy with this machine. Its incredibly portable form factor is pretty much unmatched by its major competitors. Here comes one big question, though – do you really need such a thin and light notebook? After all, you are robbed of any adequate port selection it might have. In this case, you only get a Thunderbolt 4 connector and a USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 2) port. The only accessory we found in the box was an adapter that makes one of the USB Type-C ports an Audio jack. Usually, thin laptops don’t have good keyboards. This is because of the slimmer profile of the mechanisms. In this aspect, the Yoga Slim 7 Carbon is not an exception. However, it comes with super clicky buttons. And the touchpad is great too. Glass surface and fast response make it one of the best there is in a 13-inch ultrabook. Also, this notebook has an IR face recognition scanner. So if you are wondering if this laptop is a good idea, you should know that it is rather a niche product. Acer’s Swift 5 has been one of the first 1 kg devices on the market, and this year was the first in which it actually gained weight. This is because manufacturers learned that customers don’t mind if their machine is 200 grams heavier – they need features.

I liked Lenovo’s Slim 7i Carbon ultrabook. It’s thin and lightweight, has some decent specs and can handle everything I threw at it. The 400 nits brightness is standard for laptops, but this Slim 7i would be even better if Lenovo increased the maximum brightness, albeit at the sacrifice of battery life, to allow for better usability in more brightly lit environments.

Lenovo's Slim 7i Carbon combines the best of business-class design with solid performance and appealing features like a factory-calibrated 90Hz display. It keeps up with the best ultraportables on the market and does it with understated style. We're a bit jealous that it lacks an OLED screen and we wish it had longer battery life, but the compact Carbon's light weight and solid capability make it a welcome addition to the ultraportable arena.
