The MSI Titan GT77 is designed as the kind of all-conquering notebook that’ll form the basis of your gaming life for years. And if you want maximum speed and an incredible screen, this rig will absolutely get the job done. But it takes a few shortcuts we don’t expect from a £5000 machine. Those CherryMX keys are brilliant – but they’re not under every key. There aren’t screen options for esports players, and it’s the loudest laptop we’ve ever tested. That money could net you a Razer or Alienware notebook with money to spare if you’re happy to accept compromises. You could even buy an RTX 4090-equipped PC and a proper gaming monitor with a £5000 budget. It’s the fastest gaming laptop around, sure, and has the best screen going right now. But given the price, it’s just not refined enough. We’d wait to see what else arrives before sorting out an overdraft.

The MSI Titan GT77 (2023) is the fastest gaming laptop on the market. The 4K Mini LED screen is brilliant. The CherryMX keys feel superb, the MSI has plenty of ports, and you get great internal connectivity and upgrade options. But the Titan falls short in so many areas. You don’t get CherryMX hardware beneath every button. It’s thicker and heavier than the competition. There are no higher refresh rate screen options. And then there’s the inconsistent software and intrusively loud cooling. With a laptop like this it’s tempting to just be blinded by numbers and new tech, but the practicalities are where laptops live or die on a day-to-day basis. And while the Titan might break records, it’s just not good enough in key areas – which is all the more annoying given the stratospheric price. Keep an eye on our best gaming laptop list, as we’ll be updating it shortly with plenty of ultra-powered portables that offer superior value.

First, my practical advice: Don’t buy the MSI Titan GT77 HX 13V. It’s big, heavy, loud, and terribly expensive. You’ll need a huge backpack to haul it and it barely fits on some coffee shop desks, never mind an airplane’s seat-back tray. It’s an impractical showpiece for people with more money than sense. But you still want it, don’t you? So do I. The Titan successfully sets a new definition of high-end laptop performance that rivals many desktop computers and renders last-generation hardware irrelevant. That alone would be noteworthy, but MSI goes the extra mile with a class-leading Mini-LED display that delivers eye-searing brightness and outstanding contrast. No, the Titan isn’t a practical choice—but if you want the ultimate in performance, and have the cash, don’t hesitate. This is the hard-charging, benchmark-obliterating laptop you crave.

The MSI GT77 Titan (2023) is the first laptop I've gotten my hands on that features Nvidia's latest mobile RTX 4000-series GPUs and Intel's latest 13th-gen Core i9 HX processor, and I can confirm that the hype around this hardware is very, very justified. If anything, the media buzz can't even prepare you for how powerful this laptop actually is in practice, especially the RTX 4090 mobile GPU. To start, the GT77 Titan can be configured with either an Nvidia RTX 4080 or Nvidia RTX 4090 mobile with the Intel Core i9-13980HX. There are no options for a Core i7 or lower, because that's for peasants, probably. There will be no scrimping with this laptop. Obviously, the specs are the reason you are buying this gaming laptop. There is nothing all that compelling about its design, which is the same standard black stealth-bomber-car-transformer looking thing with twinkly RGB lighting that gaming laptops have been sporting for a very long time now.

So yes, this is one of the most powerful gaming laptops that money can buy. But you have to ask yourself one question: is power all you care about at the expense of so much? If the answer is “yes,” then you’ll love what insane frame rates and performance that this is capable of — not just in games but in any creatively intense workflows too. The 4K display is a sight to behold, the Cherry keyboard switches are a joy to type on, and you’ve got more than enough ports to get any job done. But the cost of all this is a behemoth of a laptop that is going stretch the capacity of a lot of backpacks, a dull, mushy 720p webcam, tinny speakers that are quickly overwhelmed by fan noise, and a dated aesthetic that you’d be a little embarrassed to whip out in public. And let’s not forget that huge price tag, too. If you can afford it, and you’ve come to the end of this review feeling OK with these compromises, you will love the MSI Titan GT77 HX. But this is definitely more of a desktop replacement than an actual laptop.

MSI Titan GT77 is one of the most expensive gaming laptops that is available today in India. The model we are using is the top-of-the-line and users can save money by opting for models that come with lesser RAM and storage. However, the performance offered by this laptop is very difficult to beat. If you are solely focused on gaming or other performance-oriented works and if the price is not a concern, this is currently the best available option that the company has to offer.

If you are shopping in the higher-than-$3,500 price range and want the latest parts, we’d recommend the Scar 18 over the MSI Titan, despite the latter's undeniably impressive performance. If you can accept last-generation parts for a more reasonable (but still premium) price, our favorite big-screen pick of the moment is the 16-inch Acer Predator Triton 300 SE.

The MSI Titan GT77 HX with the faster Intel Core i9-13980HX processor (up to 5.60GHz turbo frequency), 64GB DDR5 memory, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GPU, 2TB SSD, 17.3-inch UHD IPS display (3840 x 2160) and preloaded with Windows 11 Professional is available for pre-order at MSI Singapore online store, and if you’re expecting the package to come at a price, you would not be wrong. At S$9,299 with two years warranty, this top-of-the-line gaming laptop offers performance that can match a desktop gaming PC, but for the serious gamer looking for a dependable machine, look no further.

The 2023 MSI Titan GT77 HX 13V will likely be one of the fastest gaming laptops of the year. This is a big chassis, very high end laptop with an NVIDIA RTX 4090 or 4080 GPU (175 watt), Intel Core i9-13980 HX processor and a fantastic 17.3” 4K UHD mini LED display supporting HDR 1000. Other amenities include a Cherry MX mechanical per key RGB keyboard, biometric login, WiFi 6E, 4 RAM slots, PCIe5 SSD storage, Thunderbolt 4 and a full selection of ports. It has a beefy 4-fan cooling system and performance rivals that of RTX 3080 desktops and is significantly faster than last gen gaming laptops. We include benchmarks, comparison benchmarks and a tour of the internals.

There are two downsides to note. For one, it’s a fingerprint magnet (though the smudges are easier to wipe off than they tend to be on Razer Blades). It’s also quite loud. I mean, I don’t imagine that anyone’s buying a laptop that’s literally called the “Titan” and expecting it to be subdued and stealthy. But yes, to confirm, the GT77 HX’s fans are quite audible when running at full speed. Finally, I do have to come back to the price here. When a device is several hundred dollars more expensive than a similar MacBook Pro (a laptop widely critiqued as an inaccessible luxury), giving buying advice about it feels almost unnecessary. Rather, we can view this device as a fantasy — a look at gaming technology at its marvelous, once unattainable peak. If you’re looking for a 17 incher with a high-resolution screen and cool-looking lights but find the Titan a bit out of your price range, a 4K version of Alienware’s x17 is currently going for well over $1,000 less than this Titan unit. Those looking for something more compact might instead try the UHD 144Hz Razer Blade 17 (currently $3,499.99), which has a colorful (but more subdued) keyboard. These are still expensive laptops, to be sure, but they’re quite a bit closer to the ground.

MSI’s updated GT77 Titan is a fantastic showcase of what flagship performance looks like in 2023. It’s also a sobering reminder of the cost of that performance, with loud fans, high thermals, and an obscene price. For the few that can afford and are willing to pay for the GT77 Titan, it’s a wonderful machine. For everyone else, my main hope is that the GT77 Titan is a sign that next-gen gaming laptops will bring massive leaps in performance, rather than a touchstone for how expensive gaming laptops have gotten.

Reviewing the MSI Titan GT77 HX (2023), one of the first Intel 13th Gen gaming laptops, with Nvidia's RTX 4090 and a 4K 144Hz display! Here's a load of benchmarking shenanigans and real-life gameplay experience on the MSI Titan GT77 HX, easily among the best and beefiest gamer notebooks right now. We've been waiting a while for the 13th Generation Intel Raptor Lake laptops to launch and this 17-inch RTX4090 machine is a great showcase. In my benchmarks, the CPU and GPU absolutely smashed through 3DMark, Cinebench and in-game tests on the likes of Forza 5. You can expect frame rates of 70+ on the likes of Uncharted and Forza even in 4K mode with the graphics settings maxed out. The MSI Titan GT77 HX 2023 serves up a sharp and punchy Ultra HD Mini LED display, plus stereo speakers and a healthy selection of ports. You have an RGB keyboard, super-fast storage and impressive expandability options too. So is this Intel 13th Gen laptop one of the best gaming notebooks right now? It'll certainly blaze through any games you throw its way!
