Reviews for the Motorola Moto G200 5G

Motorola Moto G200 is certainly not a smartphone that I would definitely advise against buying, but the above-mentioned shortcomings shouldn't be ignored. I personally would prefer to pay extra for this smartphone and in return get a better display, faster charging and a better refined camera.

The cost-cutting needed to make the price tag means no stereo speakers, a plastic body (but nicely executed), and no telephoto shooter. Those were things obvious from its specs sheet, though, so if they were deal-breakers you probably wouldn't be here in the first place. What we are not thrilled about is the promised one major Android version update, meaning the G200 5G will probably not go further than Android 12. And while that might not be a big shortcoming compared to current rivals soon enough phones with Android 12 out of the box and longer support might find it easier to eclipse it. But right now at €449 or less, the Moto G200 5G is an excellent offer with more power than we could hope for and many value-adding features like the 144Hz refresh rate, Ready For support, unmatched speed (in its price backet), and clean Android experience. And that's why it gets our unreserved recommendation.

The new flagship G-series from Moto turned out to be more interesting than last year’s G100. With its fresh approach to design, an neat back panel and camera unit, a top-end Snapdragon 888+ processor, a smooth display with a refresh rate of 144 Hz, it’s quite an interesting device. At quite an affordable price. The battery is great. Cameras may not be the best, but they aren’t bad considering the cost. There’s also the Ready For mode that’s quite impressive in its own right. Of course, there are also things that the manufacturer has saved on. IPS screens are less impressive than OLED, although the opponents of the PWM might disagree. The mono speaker is not serious at all. There’s no memory card slot , which is also a shame. The Ready For mode is available in the wired version, but there’s no cable in the box. The cameras could be a little better, especially when shooting in low light. There is not enough optical stabilization, the images are often blurred. Finally, I will note the realme GT 8/128 GB, which became a hit in 2021.

Despite not quite offering the level of performance expected from the Snapdragon 888 Plus chipset, the Moto G200 represents great value for money at just £399. The 6.8in display offers a rapid 144Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution perfect for mobile gaming, although the LCD tech may put off OLED purists. It’s tall and wide, which might make it a struggle for some to use, but there are ways around it if you’re determined. The camera offering is, overall, an improvement on its predecessor, but the ultra-wide lens needs a little more TLC before it becomes a go-to snapper. The 8K video recording made possible by the SD 888 Plus is present and accounted for, but the better experience is at 4K@60fps. Battery life is excellent, with a 5000mAh battery providing all-day power even at high refresh rates, although it doesn’t quite squeeze to a second day like some rivals. There might be a lot of small complaints about the Moto G200 then, but it’s still one of the stronger mid-range smartphones available in early 2022 with an equally tempting price tag.

The Moto G200 5G is a well-thought-out smartphone that offers tons of high-end features at a not-so-premium price. A few sacrifices have been made with the lack of wireless charging support and the hit-and-miss front camera. There’s also no 3.5mm headphone jack and the IP rating isn’t as high as other phones on the market. However, if you’re looking for a cheap Android phone with a long battery life, smooth display and powerful camera, the G200 5G makes a compelling argument.

There are a few niggles you can object to about the Motorola Moto G200. The absence of optical image stablisation, a headphone jack and expandable storage are all sorely felt, and the chunky plastic build won’t be for everyone, either. But I’m struggling to think of a phone that offers this kind of value. £400 for a phone with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus is phenomenal, and that’s before we get onto the solid screen and brilliant battery life. The camera, too, is capable of great results even with the aforementioned lack of OIS. If you want to save a few quid, then the Poco F3 remains a great choice. But for now, this is the best £400 phone out there – and likely will remain so until Apple (eventually) unveils the next iPhone SE.

I found the Moto G200 to be a good phone for the price. With a large, high-quality screen, a high-end processor, good battery life and no bloatware it looks like a good choice for anyone seeking a competent mainstream 5G handset. The stylish backplate will be hidden by the provided bumper's protection, which is a shame, but generally, in terms of 'bang for buck', the Moto G200 is impressive.

The Moto G200 is a beast - it’s big, with a giant FHD+ 144Hz screen, and has loads of processing power, making it great for playing games and watching movies. It’s not going to be suitable for all users though, as the size makes it hard to use one-handed, and there are some rough edges in the photography and charging departments, too.

The Motorola Moto G200 5G is a decent mid-range flagship phone that attains an impressive refresh rate, powerful chipset, crispy bloatware-free UI, and long-lasting battery. It includes a more exciting feature under the hood, while the camera quality elements are pretty fabulous. However, if you compare to other options, there are a few factors in which the phone is lacking. Overall, the Moto G200 5G is a great phone with a pure Android 11 OS experience. But if you are completely relying on the Android UI experience, a greater alternative would be the OnePlus 9RT smartphone. As it arrives at almost the same price tag, it also brings better rear and selfie camera.

Considered as an evolution in the series the Moto G200 is a refinement of its G100 predecessor: it has a better yet screen, does away with the unnecessary dual punch-hole in the display, and pares down the rear cameras into an altogether neater triple design. All without compromising on its high-end power prospects. That said, however, the plasticky build isn't all that, the rear cameras remain an oversell (no zoom, no stabilisation), and such powerful innards don't eke the very best out of the battery (although it's perfectly passable and the device doesn't overheat). But where the Moto G200 really wins is in context to its competition. It delivers a faster refresh-rate screen than many a rival, has software that's particularly easy to use - and without the bugs of its Xiaomi MIUI and Oppo ColorOS competitors - and with this degree of power on board it weighs up to be a more measured option at this appealing price point.

Still, the best about this phone is its Snapdragon 888+ chip, 5G connectivity, and its big, 144Hz screen. In a world where up until now, the best chip you could get for this price was a Snapdragon 778G powering a Samsung Galaxy A52s or a Motorola Edge 20, the Moto G200 sounds like an amazing deal. This phone is perfect for those who want flagship performance on a budget. It might even be deserving of the ‘flagship killer’ title, as it really reminds me of the first OnePlus phone from back in the day. Just like the OnePlus One, this phone focuses on performance and value instead of a flagship build quality and excellent camera system.

Motorola's best phone to date packs a super-powerful processor, a smooth screen refresh rate and a 108MP camera with some of the trappings of Moto phones like a huge battery, sturdy body and clean software. The mid-range price yet premium specs makes this phone a steal, although some of its specs hold it back from greatness.

The Motorola Moto G200 sits on the affordable end of mid-range, and the design echoes that price tag. Delve deeper into the handset though, and what you’ll find is a powerful piece of kit that will be great to use as a work phone or your next commuting companion. Thanks to its high-end chipset and large screen, this phone performs really well. It’ll happily open up loads of different apps at once, and the screen looks great across most types of content. What's more, is that you can count on it not to have run out of battery by the time you get into the office in the morning. While the Motorola Moto G200 might not be the sleekest or slimmest phone you can buy, it does do a good job where it matters the most and you'll be able to rely on it day in, day out.
