Reviews for the Motorola Moto G30
The Moto G30 has an impressive specifications sheet. The low-priced mid-range smartphone features a 90-Hz screen, a quad-camera system, a 3.5-mm audio jack and a dual-SIM card slot that also supports microSD cards. Read our extensive review to learn about the weaknesses of the Motorola Moto G30.

Moto G30 is a reasonably priced smartphone that has a lot to offer - especially in terms of gigabytes and great uptime. More conservative users will like the presence of an FM radio, headphone jack and support for microSD cards. The enthusiasm is extinguished by average cameras and the HD + screen. The model under review is one of the low-end phones, and unfortunately there are always some compromises here - often, as in the case of Moto G30, they concern cameras, performance and screen. Undoubtedly, this model has many advantages, but there is nothing that would make it particularly distinguishable. Especially that smartphones from realme, Xiaomi or Oppo are quite encouraging in this price range.

In my opinion, the Moto G30 is a budget smartphone for people who are ready to spend 150 euros. I have nothing against the Chinese devices (Moto itself is now under the wing of Lenovo), but Motorola smartphones stand out for pure Android without any bloatware and with excellent optimization of hardware and software.

All in all, the G30 is yet another solid budget phone from Motorola, and well priced at £160. But the company’s myriad budget options raise a dilemma here. While there are undoubtedly improvements over the G9 Play, does the addition of a 90Hz screen, an ultra-wide camera lens and double the storage (when both have microSD card support) change anything for most people? I’d argue probably not, and given phone prices only go in one direction, the majority of budget buyers would probably be better served looking for discounts on the last generation instead. After all, they have identical internal performance thanks to the shared chipset. It’s still a great phone for the money, but for a handset with a name that implies a multi-generational leap (21 generations, to be exact) it feels like evolution rather than revolution. Mo’ Motos, mo’ problems.

I have to say, the Moto G30 does offer some great features for the price tag and I am pretty impressed with the phone in general. The Moto G30 does offer some great specs for those who don’t want all the bells and whistles that come along with a hefty price tag, if you are looking for a good low to mid-range phone at a reasonable price, the Moto G30 is worthy of consideration.

Motorola makes a predictable budget handset in the Moto G30. You get all the basics, great battery life and a 90Hz display, but underwhelming cameras may prompt eyes (and wallets) to wander elsewhere.

For a budget smartphone, the Moto G30 provides great value at the current price of ₹10,999. The cameras take good photos, while the phone can handle daily tasks well, with barely any lag or stutters. Since this is a budget phone, it will eventually wear down with time if you keep using it for heavy tasks, which is worth keeping in mind while considering this device.

The Moto G30 is a capable phone, and has all the traits of a worthy budget-focused smartphone. It offers a decent set of cameras, reasonable performance, good battery like, clean software, and an impressive 90Hz screen. The niggles include slow shutter times with the night mode, a missing dedicated slot for the microSD card, and the heavy weight. The recently-released Redmi Note 10 can offer better features such as a Super AMOLED panel, a better quad-camera setup, exquisite design, faster charging speeds, an IR blaster, superior performance, and a dedicated microSD card slot, all of which is available for a price of Rs 11,999. However, the 90Hz refresh rate and the cleaner software makes the Moto G30 worth a closer look.

Motorola is a go-to brand if you are looking for a budget device, more so because of its clean Android experience. At just Rs 10,999, it comes with an impressive camera setup and an extremely good processor if you want to perform basic tasks. The battery life in the Moto G30 is also pretty decent, given its price tag. So that makes it a suitable device in the budget category.

Motorola has priced the Moto G10 Power and the Moto G30 quite close to each other, and choosing between them is not all that easy. The Moto G30 offers slightly better performance than the Moto G10 Power, but has a smaller battery. It still isn't the fastest in this price range, and if you are looking specifically for performance, the Realme Narzo 30A (Review) offers better. If you don't mind spending a little extra, the new Redmi Note 10 (Review) offers much better value for your money.

The Moto G30 is not the Moto G from late 2013, which you could recommend as the universal best option for a full-featured smartphone on a budget. The Moto G gradually evolved from that one phone to an entire lineup, and none of the lineup members today is the no-brainer purchase that the original was.

I think it is. It’s a very solid midranger. It runs OK so long as you are not expecting it to handle heavy apps or serious multi-tasking and its camera can take a few good shots (but not videos). It can easily last you a day and it’s a solid device for those that just want a smartphone to stay connected, without going too fancy with it.

The Moto G30 is good for its price, and certainly beats out its G10 sibling, as a fine all-rounder. Save for its stellar battery performance there are no stand-out aspects to the phone though, and depending on what you’re looking for, another handset might offer more.

Chunky, chinny, and notch-heavy, even with its clunky design, the Moto G30 is still a cracking low-cost smartphone for a certain type of user. Sitting alongside the Moto G9 Power and offering a slightly smaller, significantly more iridescent alternative with virtually identical innards — the fact it costs less and offers more is its saving grace.

Although there's a share of criticism - three of the four cameras are poor, the Pastel Sky finish is questionable - in the interests of context there's little else out there at this price point that can even compete. So long as your expectations are in check then the Moto G30 is one of the best budget phones around.

Packs in a lot for anyone on a tight budget, even if not every feature adds a lot of value. The Moto G30 is ultra-affordable and its performance won't frustrate, but if you can stretch just a little further, rivals offer an even slicker experience.
