Reviews for the Nokia G10
Nokia's G10 is an entry-level smartphone with a large battery and a monthly update promise for 3 years. We will take a look at whether the inexpensive phone with the Scandinavian design is also convincing in everyday use in our review.

Nokia G10 is an entry-level smartphone and thus, all the specifications reflect this including the entry-level chipset, decent display type, and so on. Do you know that there's no charger included in the retail box? Yes, it's true as Nokia is making some cutbacks to lower the price tag. There are plenty of other smartphones at this price tag that offers much more on the table such as the Poco M3 is way more powerful with a midrange SD662 SoC and almost the same pricing which makes me wonder why to buy such an expensive phone in comparison. The camera setup is decent although low-light photography is below average. Perhaps the major USP of the Nokia G10 is its battery and the software onboard which is stock which means you get a clear Android 11 which is highly optimized and lightweight. However, the charging time is too much so there's a lot of compromises to make at the price tag.

If you are looking at the Nokia G10 4G, you are a budget shopper, and you have a choice of several phones at this price. Why am I telling you this up front in a review? Because invariably smartphone makers tell us you can’t make a decent smartphone that retails for much less than $199, and on the whole, I agree. You will normally get 32-bit Android (common to most devices <4GB RAM) that runs slowly, approx. 6.5” 1280×720 screen (let’s not get into brightness, colour accuracy), 32GB (15GB free) of slower eMMC storage, a tri-camera (usually 12MP plus depth) and a 4500/5000mAh battery in an all-plastic case. That describes the Nokia G10 4G and its competition to a tee.

The Nokia G10 can give you an acceptable gaming experience when it comes to MOBA games and average on FPS games. However, it has a hard time maintaining consistent performance in triple-A games, but for browsing and a day-to-day companion, the Nokia G10 is a worthy device. It is priced at P6,990 for 4GB plus 64GB. Albeit, last year, this price range offered a higher Helio G70 or G80 processor from other competitors, however, if I will going to use a phone that will still give me security in 2 years, Nokia is one of the trusted brands that can offer a 2 years Android Upgrade. This means the main selling point of this device is compatibility and optimization that is still present after a year or so. Buying this phone will give you peace of mind, long battery life, and a solid build.

A year ago, the Nokia G10's crisp display, excellent battery life, and multi-year OS upgrades would have been enough to excuse its sluggish processor, paltry storage, and mediocre build quality. But the budget phone market has changed a lot over the past 12 months, and the G10 can’t keep pace with its competition. The Moto G Play comes in at just $20 more than the G10 and far surpasses it, with superior build quality, longer battery life, and a more robust mobile chipset. If you can spend a little more money, check out our Editors’ Choice winner for low-cost phones, the Samsung Galaxy A32 5G ($279.99). It looks great, it's more durable, and it has a much more powerful chipset, with good cameras and 5G connectivity to boot. With phones like that on the market, there's just no room for one that cuts as many corners as the G10.

The Nokia G10 is one device that we consider a good daily driver for casual users. It’s affordable, has decent cameras and performance, and long battery life. It’s not for those who want to play graphic-intensive games given the entry-level chipset. The small RAM and storage add to that limitation as well. It’s good for social media use, online classes, or entertainment. Should you buy it? If you’re on a tight budget, the Nokia G10 is a good option for PHP 6,990. But if you can stretch the budget a bit, even for a couple of thousand pesos, you might find a better alternative.

Our review of the Nokia G10 in the Philippines shows that it is a good incremental upgrade to the Nokia 2.4 with a more modern look, improved overall camera performance, a bigger battery, and the use of a USB-C port. While its processor is lackluster for a sub-Php 7k phone, the main selling point of the Nokia G10 is its guaranteed 2 years of major Android updates–a commitment we rarely see on any budget phone even up to this day.
