Reviews for the OnePlus 11R

Despite a year after its launch, the OnePlus 11R still manages to hold its forte with its beautiful curved display, smooth performance and long-lasting battery life. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 still remains a capable chipset that can handle any intensive task you throw at it. The 11R has also received the latest Oxygen OS 14 update, which brings new features, and the phone will receive OS updates for another two years. However, the camera still remains the smartphone’s Achilles heel, putting it behind the rest of the competition. The lack of an IP rating and wireless charging are also a bit disappointing. However, the OnePlus 11R remains a great choice thanks to its recent price cut, making it more affordable than ever. While it doesn’t offer the best performance or cameras in this segment, it is an excellent choice for those looking for a good OnePlus smartphone. Other options in this segment include the OnePlus 12R, iQOO Neo 9 Pro, Nothing Phone (2) and the Vivo V30 Pro.

OnePlus also seems to have continued its ‘surprising price’ trend with the OnePlus 11R Solar Red. At Rs 45,999, it is priced just Rs 1,000 above the 16 GB/ 256 GB variant of the original OnePlus 11R, even though it sports different materials, more RAM, and double the storage. That makes it exceptional value for money, not just in terms of design but also in terms of specs – you cannot get a mainstream close to flagship phone with 18GB RAM at that price. It is the kind of nightmare that the likes of the Nothing Phone (2) do not need. This is hands down perhaps the best phone you can get for around Rs 45,000, and perhaps even below Rs 50,000. If you are looking for a great OnePlus device in that budget, simply say: “Gimme Red!”

Now the most important question of this conversation: Should you buy the OnePlus 11R or not? The answer to this question is a simple yes. The OnePlus 11R is a no-nonsense phone that offers a lot of the premium features at a mid-budget price — something that has been the company’s strength since the beginning. The phone packs a well-lit display with in-display fingerprint sensor, decent cameras, a smooth user interface, a strong core and good audio system in a glass and metal body. The phone looks and feels premium, and it stays the course in terms of performance as well. Sure, it could use some improvements in terms of the camera, just a couple of things here and there, but overall, at a price point of Rs 39,999 the OnePlus 11R 5G offers value for money.

So that was all for my full review of the 11R. And looking back, I think I have talked positively in almost all aspects of this phone. And rightly so! Its display and audio are superb, it’s the fastest phone in this price segment, the battery life is great, I like the output from the primary camera, the fingerprint sensor works wickedly fast, and you get years of software commitment too. So it ticks all the boxes for an excellent all-rounder smartphone and it is a definite recommendation from me at this price. This year, OnePlus has finally listened to their criticism and tried to work on almost all of them. Be it in terms of price or feature sets. But still, I would like to see them innovate in terms of the design, they need to bring a better ultra-wide camera than this — even cheaper phones like Pixel 6A and Nothing phone (1) have better Ultrawide cameras, and I think they need to invest more in terms of camera optimization and color science, its just not as good as Samsung or Pixel yet.

The OnePlus 11R offers an excellent display, great performance, a good primary camera, and all-day battery life on a single charge. All of this is offered for under 40,000 Indian Rupees, which makes it easy for me to recommend the device – despite the average ultrawide camera and bad macro sensor. The OnePlus 11R reminds me of the OnePlus 7T in terms of value for the money. The 7T offered a brilliant price-to-performance ratio, and the OnePlus 11R matches it. In terms of competition, the Vivo V27 Pro offers a slimmer design and is more comfortable to hold at 2,000 rupees less. The Galaxy S21 FE is another good option that offers an IP68 rating and wireless charging. But none of these phones offer top-notch performance and an overall complete experience like the OnePlus 11R. If you’re looking for a capable midtier phone, don’t ignore the OnePlus 11R. Put it on your short list and seriously consider buying it.I don’t think you’ll regret it.

With OnePlus 11R, the company returns to its winning formula. The phone gets almost all the essentials on point and it is a great value-for-money offering. There may be those who may pinpoint the lack of IP rating, and seek a better camera setup. However, it makes up for the firepower under the hood, great display and flagship-level design.

The OnePlus 11R is available at Rs 39,999 for its 8 GB/ 128 GB and Rs 44,999 for its 16 GB/ 256 GB variant. At its starting price, we have no hesitation in calling it hands-down the best phone you can get for under Rs 40,000. In fact, if one is not obsessed with benchmarks and cameras, the OnePlus 11R does enough to make one doubt the wisdom of investing in some of the premium flagships out there. There’s a lot of premium flagship about the OnePlus 11R – the bright and curved display, the processor, the main camera, the battery and charging speeds, and even the design. All of this at a price that is about Rs 6,000 more than OnePlus’ own Nord 2T! We are not going to talk about the competition, because honestly, there isn’t any. Do you want the best phone for Rs 40,000 or a shade above it? Go for this one. The flagship killer is back in town.

Now, the question is – should you buy the OnePlus 11R for Rs 39,999? And the answer to that would be: yes. Well, as I explained in the review, the OnePlus 11R isn’t perfect, it has its own weaknesses, but in most aspects, the phone shines. That’s the reason I would suggest the OnePlus 11R to anyone looking for a good overall phone under Rs 40,000. The good thing is that the OnePlus 11R borrows a lot of features from its older sibling and the more premium OnePlus 11 – be it the design or the battery or the primary camera. The phone offers exactly the same design as the OnePlus 11 and feels quite compact to use at all times. The 11R is also a powerhouse and manages multitasking really well. Another good thing is that the phone lasts one full day of heavy usage and the 100W fast charging support is the icing on the cake. While most of the things about the OnePlus 11R are just about perfect, the camera is one area where the phone needs slight improvement, especially in macro and ultra-wide photography. Overall, the OnePlus 11R is a solid offering for the price.

The OnePlus 11R is a thorough return to the company’s origins. While it might not pack the absolute latest chipset, it does have sufficient grunt under the hood for all but the most ardent performance enthusiasts. It might not be the first OnePlus to achieve a good balance between value and outright performance, but it follows in the footsteps of the OnePlus 11 in getting more right than wrong, and does so at a lower price where the stumbles aren’t as keenly felt. Overall performance is exactly what you’d expect from the hardware in question, with some optimizations made for heat dissipation, and the gradually improving software experience matches up with that focus on performance. Add to that a very good display and a capable-enough main camera, and you’ve got all the makings of a successful flagship killer. The OnePlus 11R delivers value in spades, making it even more disappointing that you can't buy it outside of India. The OnePlus 11R’s chief competitors in India include the Xiaomi 11T Pro, the company’s 2021 flagship with a Snapdragon 888 chipset and 108MP camera.

I have to say that OnePlus has forged a fantastic mid-range flagship phone this time. The phone not only looks premium but also performs the same way. With solid performance, stunning display, and good battery life with 100W fast charging, OnePlus has really tried not to cut any corners. Even the main camera does a good job in most situations. But yes, no phone is perfect. The 11R also has some downsides, like it doesn’t have an IP rating and the secondary cameras are not up to the mark. If you are fine with those, I see no other reason to avoid this. Overall, OnePlus 11R brings a great value for money proposition and gets a solid recommendation from me.

The OnePlus 11R is a phone for OnePlus enthusiasts, which also makes it a very good device for the average buyer looking to get their hands on a fast phone with reliable cameras and a big battery, but one that still does not force them to break the bank for it.

With the OnePlus 11R, OnePlus has managed to distil the essentials of the OnePlus 11 in a much more affordable package. The phone has the same design as its costlier sibling, the same great 50MP camera at the back, identical battery and 100W charging tech, and outstanding hardware that's ideal for gaming. Sure, there are a few flaws here — the screen isn't quite as bright, you miss out on a few extras, and the auxiliary cameras aren't worth your time. But if you're in India and want to save some cash on a value flagship, the OnePlus 11R is the one to get.

The OnePlus 11R 5G will appeal to many OnePlus fans who have been waiting for something similar to the OnePlus 7T to come along — a phone with a flagship SoC under Rs. 40,000. If you play a lot of demanding mobile games and require good battery life, the 11R 5G will not disappoint. The main camera is also very capable, although the rest of them leave a lot to be desired. I think what many people are going to like most is the fact that the 11R 5G looks just like the more expensive 11 5G, giving it flaunt value. For those who are not convinced, the Realme GT 3 should be arriving in India soon and it will have similar specifications as the 11R 5G but with support for 240W wired charging. If you don't care too much about the processor, then the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G (Review) is another great option to consider for roughly the same price. This phone offers a very good specs but more importantly, it has an IP68 rating and wireless charging. The top variant of the Nothing Phone 1 (Review) could also be worth looking at, as it is currently selling for less than the base variant of the 11R 5G. The OnePlus 11R 5G could have been better in few areas, but especially after last year's offering, I think it's a solid comeback.

At INR 39,999 for the 8/128GB model and INR 44,999 for the 16/256GB model, the OnePlus 11R is a good INR 17,000 less than the equivalently specced OnePlus 11. As a cheaper alternative to the flagship, we found the OnePlus 11R to be very capable, much more than the previous offerings in the R-series. Looking at all the specs, the major concessions are in the camera department. While all three cameras on the back of the OnePlus 11 are capable, the OnePlus 11R gets away with being called a triple-camera phone on a mere technicality. The ultra-wide camera would be more at home on an entry-level Nord whereas the macro camera would be more at home in a bin. Thankfully, the main camera performs largely the same on both phones, much to the chagrin of the OnePlus 11 and its $150 million Hasselblad sticker. Camera aside, there really aren't any major differences between the two phones. Sure, the display is slightly higher resolution and the processor is a little faster but we could not spot a real difference between the two even when using them side by side. In fact, the OnePlus 11R was often the more pleasant phone to use as it does not aggressively reduce its refresh rate as much as the 11. We also think the infrared blaster is a cool addition that more phones should have. So since it really just boils down to the camera, the added cost doesn't feel justifiable for most people. Depending on how you feel about those ultra-wide samples and the lack of RAW photography, we think you will be better off with the cheaper model.

The OnePlus 11R is a capable smartphone with strong core capabilities geared toward performance. It has a bright and vivid screen, loud stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, swift performance, and clutter free OxygenOS interface. Imaging from supplementary cameras put it a notch below others, but the phone’s mid-premium pricing (Rs 39,999 onwards) makes up for it.

One plus one is not eleven, but OnePlus has ticked enough to reach the 11 series of its smartphones… in fact, there is already a OnePlus 11R in the market, trying to pose as the more affordable version the premium brand can offer at the moment. In the journey from the OnePlus One to the OnePlus 11R, this relatively new entrant in the smartphone segment has shown how well it understands the market, the demands of its customers and, more importantly, how much they are willing to pay for what they perceive as a premium device. The OnePlus 11R has been with me for almost a week and it is everything I expect the brand to offer. But that perception of OnePlus has changed over the past couple of quarters since it started homing in more towards the mother brand Oppo. And this is why I thought of doing this review a bit differently, asking probable buyers what they would like me to test out with the new OnePlus 11R.

There’s no doubt that the company cut corners in providing more updates as compared to its flagship counterpart. However, it’s good to see that the company will deliver a 3-years update on the OnePlus 11R. Overall, the phone is not that bad a deal either if you are not looking for something exceptional in the flagship killer range. You are getting decent hardware, performance, beautiful camera results, a vibrant display, and long-lasting battery life. All of those factors already make the phone more appealing. But it’s not the only phone that got those features, there are smartphones like Xiaomi Civi 2 that will give this phone tough competition since they got almost identical specs and are offered by the same parent company.

The OnePlus 11R looks like a reasonably good option below the Rs 40,000 mark and its performance levels are certainly impressive. I also like how clean and refined the phone’s design style is. As for the viewing experience, there will be few phones in the segment that can offer the kind of display hardware that the 11R has. Perhaps the phone’s secondary cameras are not the best but they are offset by a more-than-capable primary shooter. Overall, an option definitely worth considering.

The OnePlus 11R 5G also borrows a few features from the flagship OnePlus 11 5G such as the same 100W fast charging capability and 5,000mAh battery capacity. The OnePlus 10R and OnePus 10T did offer 150W charging, but this isn't slow either by any means. The main camera, which has a 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 sensor along with optical stabilisation (OIS), is also common between these models. The OnePlus more affordable 11R 5G also an 8-megapixels ultra-wide and a modest 2-megapixel macro camera. It's hard to gauge the real-world performance of any smartphone after using it for just a few minutes, but going just by the fluidity of OxygenOS 13 and the specs, this could be a very good gaming smartphone in its segment in India. One interesting feature that I was surprised to see was an infrared (IR) emitter on the top of the 11R 5G for controlling IR devices such as televisions and ACs. An IR Remote app comes with the phone too. We'll be bringing you more coverage of the OnePlus 11R 5G once we get our review unit. Till then, don't forget to check out all our reviews of the OnePlus 11 5G (Review) and the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 (Review).
