OnePlus 8 Pro Review – It’s still worth buying in 2021
Source: Cashify English EN→zh-CN
I am a OnePlus user so I won’t be biased here. OnePlus 8 Pro has got most of the things right if not all. It has wireless charging, NFC, a stunning display, and a powerful chipset under the hood. It doesn’t get many changes in terms of design though and the cameras aren’t that superb although that can be worked upon with software updates.

OnePlus 8 Pro review: What the 7T Pro should have been
Source: Android Authority English EN→zh-CN
Finally, if you want to get the overall best premium phone from 2020, we recommend checking out the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. These days, you can find that phone for around the same price as you would have paid for a top-end OnePlus 8 Pro. That phone matches or exceeds most of the specs and features of the 8 Pro, with the notable exception of charging speeds (both wired and wireless). But if you want a big, powerful phone with a great camera system, the Note 20 Ultra won’t disappoint. OnePlus is all grown up. With the OnePlus 8 Pro, you get an unabashed flagship, with all the bells and whistles. Powerful specs, an amazing display, fast wireless charging, and water resistance make the OnePlus 8 Pro a great alternative to the Galaxy S20 Plus, and it's up to $300 cheaper.

OnePlus 8 Pro one year later: Is it still worth buying?
Source: Android Authority English EN→zh-CN
Of course, I am not at all trying to say that the OnePlus 8 Pro is a bad phone. It most certainly is not. It has a long-lasting battery, a terrific display, and a software experience that’s near the top of its class. However, it also has a nerfed camera system, an unwieldy design, and a high probability of slow/infrequent software updates as the months go on. Unless you’re paying for it at a steep discount, there is no reason to buy this phone in 2021 when the OnePlus 9 Pro exists on the shelf right next to it.

There are a few bumps, though, on this phone that I should take note of. For instance, I did not notice this issue in my OnePlus 6T, but the OnePlus 8 Pro hangs a lot when you use Instagram. The OnePlus 8 Pro front camera delivers solid performance for both stills and video, with quality that should be perfectly satisfying for the majority of users. OnePlus 8 Pro Display review: Color rendering a strength
Source: DxOMark English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
The OnePlus 8 Pro put in a strong performance for display. In many regards, it really stood out against its competitors, especially in reproducing accurate colors. It also made a strong impression for its readability in direct sunlight, a rarity among all devices. For users, smooth swiping and accuracy in the gallery app and while web browsing is a big plus. There are areas for improvement, especially around video performance, which brought down its overall score. Screen uniformity for both brightness and color could also be improved. Overall, though, OnePlus can be happy with its showing among other flagship devices.

Priced Rs 54,999 onwards, the OnePlus 8 Pro is one of the most affordable premium smartphones. Its strengths lie in software-hardware synergy, which most other phones struggle to get right. Though it has everything one expects from a premium smartphone, it does not fare exceptionally in any. Absolutely. And the reason is that this phone doesn’t put a foot wrong. Design, performance, camera and battery, screen all of them are as good. Compared to other phones, there could be minor differences here and there, but they are never big enough to matter. The fact that OnePlus gives a phone like the OnePlus 8 Pro at a price of Rs 54,999 is the cherry on the cake. At this price not only OnePlus 8 Pro is a fantastic flagship phone it is also the most affordable of all flagship phones in India. What more does a consumer need? Nothing I believe.

The OnePlus 8 Pro starts at Rs 54,999, and if the last couple of years have been any indication, it’s that people are willing to shell out this kind of money for a OnePlus device. With wireless charging, IP68 certification and a much-improved primary camera, OnePlus has smoothened the rough edges of its flagship devices. With the OnePlus 8 Pro, I have very few complaints. If you are spending over Rs 50k on a smartphone this year, the OnePlus 8 Pro makes a strong case for itself, despite the competition.

OnePlus 8 Pro Audio review
Source: DxOMark English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
The 8 Pro’s audio performance bears a certain resemblance to that of the 7 Pro, especially in Playback, where it differs from the predecessor’s sub-scores by one point at the most. When it comes to recording audio, however, the 8 Pro shows a bit more independence from its older brother… but not always for the best. While the microphones deliver realistic and intelligible midrange frequencies and benefit from a better control of undesirable artifacts, the Volume sub-score is much lower due to aggressive high-end distortions. Background recordings sound as unnatural as they did with the previous model. In short, it seems OnePlus focused all its efforts on imaging, but brought too few evolutions to its flagship’s sound abilities.

This is the OnePlus 8 Pro, the company's showcase of what it's like to lead with speed, and really, and what I'd call, the company's first-ever true flagship, that's still priced a tad below than the phones it trying to compete with. The OnePlus 8 Pro is the biggest, meanest, and best smartphone OnePlus has put out thus far. At least that’s what it aims to be. It features a fantastic set of cameras, a big, gorgeous, 120 Hz AMOLED screen, the fastest possible hardware on an Android phone, and an impressive battery. But do you need to spend $900 for it, when the OnePlus 8 delivers a similar experience for $700? Well, the 8 Pro’s camera is definitely an improvement over its cheaper sibling, but it also has a bunch of quirks that you may or may not like. The Pro is slightly bigger, it’s noticeably heavier, and its speakers are virtually the same. Indeed, I’d say that if you don’t insist on that slight camera upgrade, you can save yourself $200.

OnePlus’s first attempt at a fully featured flagship presses all the right buttons, and there really isn’t anything missing here. The lack of a fancy telephoto camera might disappoint some, but 30W wireless charging and an IP68 rating are welcome OnePlus firsts. The OnePlus 8 Pro may not be perfect, but there’s something here for everyone, and little that’s lacking. Of the two new flagship phones from Chinese phone-maker OnePlus, the OnePlus 8 Pro is the higher-end device. In addition to 5G, which both phones have, it has IP certification for water resistance, a total of four cameras -- one at 48 megapixels -- and a bigger, 120Hz display. Available starting April 22, it's also pricier at $899 (£799) for 128GB storage and $999 (£899) for 256GB. (Australian prices aren't yet available, but £799 converts to roughly AU$1,570.) With the addition of an impressive primary camera, waterproofing, and wireless charging, though, OnePlus has finally checked all of the boxes on its spec sheet.

OnePlus 8 Pro review: A great phone that's no longer a great value
Source: Good Gear Guide English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
That said, the $899 starting price isn’t the same bang-for-your-buck deal that the $669 7 Pro was, especially when you consider that it’s limited to just one color, green. If you want the OnePlus 8 Pro in black or blue you’ll need to swing for the $999 model with 256GB of storage and 12GB of RAM. That’s still less than the $1,200 S20+ or the $1,400 S20 Ultra, but the value isn’t nearly as apparent as it once was.

Hands On with the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro
Source: Phone Scoop English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
I called out a few negatives above, but on balance, I like the OnePlus 8 series. They nail a lot of fundamentals. It's a great physical design, the screens are great, and of course the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset delivers blazing performance on both models. I'm impatient, and these phones never kept me waiting. I've been happy with battery life. These phones are competitive, and a good value.

Source: Neowin English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
The OnePlus 8 Pro is a lovely device. I would go so far as to say that it's the best smartphone on the market right now. In this reviewer's opinion, the iPhone 11 series and Pixel 4 series are non-starters without a fingerprint sensor or a software update to make facial recognition work with a mask on. Samsung's Galaxy S20 series was something that I didn't care for on account of poor camera software and, well, poor software overall. Huawei's P40 Pro is awesome, but unfortunately, you can't buy it in the U.S.

Source: Phandroid English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
While the OnePlus 8 Pro is by far the best smartphone the company has ever built, it’s also the least compelling device we’ve seen from them since the OnePlus X. There’s nothing fundamentally wrong with the phone, it’s a flagship device with specs and pricing to match what the competition has to offer. But the company has lost sight of the fact that many people flocked to the brand simply because they didn’t want to pay the premiums that other brands were charging. Adding insult to injury is the recent revelation that the phones are $100 to $150 cheaper in markets like India and China.

It runs Android 10 with OxygenOS on the Snapdragon 865 with your choice of 8 or 12GB RAM and 128 or 256GB storage. It has a superb 6.78” 120Hz OLED display, four rear cameras (main, ultrawide, tele and color filter), and is IP68 water resistant. The phone comes with a 30 watt 30T Warp Charge charger and is compatible with their 30 watt Qi Warp Charge wireless charger. As with past generations of OnePlus devices, the OnePlus 8 Pro and 8 have super-fast charging, branded as Warp Charging. The OnePlus 8 Pro is a talented phone with every feature you could reasonably expect for a phone of its price. Its screen is lovely, and new wireless charging support rounds off an impressive, flagship-worthy spec sheet. OnePlus 8 Pro Review: Becoming The Villain
Source: MrMobile English Archive.org version
Every year since 2014, OnePlus has released a new smartphone, and nearly every year it’s raised the price. That in turn has caused reviewers like me to ask, “is it worth the extra money?” … and for the past six years, the answer, time and again, has been yes. This is different. To be clear, I’m not saying the OnePlus 8 Pro doesn’t earn its asking price, which is $899. And we should remember that it’s not the first OnePlus to hit this threshold either: the McLaren edition of last year’s 7T Pro was priced the same. But if we ignore special edition phones and directly compare, generation to generation, what’s available here in the States … the OnePlus 8 Pro is a $230 jump from last year’s 7 Pro. That’s a lot. To some it’s evidence of OnePlus losing touch with its core values, sacrificing its status as smartphone value hero and finally "becoming the villain." Does this argument hold up, or is OnePlus finally just coming into its own? Find out in the MrMobile OnePlus 8 Pro Review!

And this 'professional' phone is actually using a 'professional' grade screen that professionals actually use for their profession. I'm impressed.

The OnePlus 8 Pro doesn't lean on gimmicks the way other 2020 flagship phones do, so it might not seem as immediately interesting. Don't be fooled, though: Between its excellent performance, well-thought-out software and one of the best smartphone screens we've ever seen, the OnePlus 8 Pro is a fantastic smartphone that's well worth the price of admission. Don't assume everything is perfect here -- some of the company's camera choices are questionable and a slightly bigger battery would've gone a long way. Even so, the 8 Pro stacks up surprisingly well against the best the industry has to offer, and is well on its way to becoming a fan-favorite.

OnePlus’s first attempt at a fully featured flagship presses all the right buttons, and there really isn’t anything missing here. The OnePlus 8 Pro may not be perfect, but there’s something here for everyone, and little that’s lacking. With the OnePlus 8, another good, affordable 5G smartphone has entered the market. While the coverage is still fairly limited, there are many good reasons for purchasing this smartphone. In our review, we will go into what those reasons are.

100% OnePlus 8 review: Faultless flagship killer drops in price
Source: Expert Reviews English EN→zh-CN
I’ll be the first to admit that I prematurely dismissed the OnePlus 8 in my briefing call. Rather than adding new features, OnePlus would alternately increase the cost by £50 and launch a near-carbon copy of last year’s model. Alarm bells immediately went off. Fixing the problems of last year’s phone, while simultaneously improving almost every aspect, the OnePlus 8 instead demonstrates that a twice-yearly phone launch doesn’t need to add new features to be worthy of admiration. Excelling in all areas, a simple case of refinement is perhaps the best strategy of all.

The realme 8 5G has a pretty solid set of features and, if you’re part of their community that’s been waiting to pull the trigger on a 5G ready phone, this could be the upgrade that you’ve been waiting for. Of course, there’s more testing to be done to see if it’s up to snuff so you may want to stay tuned to the website in the next few days for the full review.

OnePlus didn't change much from the 7T, but it didn't need to. You get great hardware design and a bump in specs, plus 5G, with the same great basics: a really good display, strong battery life, consistent camera performance, and amazing software.

The OnePlus 8 may not be a "Pro" or "Plus" model, but it's not necessarily a lightweight. This Snapdragon 865-powered phone carries over a lot of the sex appeal from the larger OnePlus 8 Pro, with features such as a 90Hz display and rapid charging, for $200 less.

The OnePlus 8 sets the bar high for mid-priced flagships in 2020. While its design refinements borrow elements from other flagships, it's an undeniably sleek phone, with waterfall display edges and a punch-hole for the front-facing camera. With a Snapdragon 865 and up to 12GB of RAM, the phone is high-performance despite costing notably less than most flagships, making it the cheapest 5G phone in many markets.

I conducted battery tests on continuous video playback on Airplane mode. The 4,300-mAh battery inside the OnePlus 8 ran for an average of 18 hours, 48 minutes on both its 90Hz and 60Hz screen setting (because the video I played was shot in 30fps, it makes sense that the times were close). By comparison, the 8 Pro's 4,510-mAh battery clocked in 18 hours, 52 minutes. I'll update this piece with final results and ratings when we finish running streaming video tests.

Both devices will give you a great experience with Android and also a lot of bang for your buck. While these only came out six months ago OnePlus is really to unveil its next the device the “8T”. I imagine when that releases you may see a price drop in these two models so keep an eye out.

OnePlus 8: A Review that's very Similar
Source: iTech Post English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
The OnePlus 8, unfortunately, follows the recent trend of the smartphone industry when it comes to having higher prices. It was released last April 14, 2020 with the base model starting with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Going a step higher, users can get the version that comes packed with 12GB of ram and 256GB of storage.

The OnePlus 8 is a 7T with a few new specs, 5G and a larger battery for a $100 price bump. Even at the higher price, it still represents incredible value thanks to all of the core tenets of OnePlus phones: good hardware, great software, excellent specs and strong battery life.

Of the two flagship phones OnePlus announced in April, the OnePlus 8 isn't just more affordable than the OnePlus 8 Pro, it's also the phone I prefer. At $699 (£599) for 128GB of storage and $799 (£699) for 256GB, the OnePlus 8 is available to buy in the US at T-Mobile and, for the first time ever, Verizon; and it will work on other carriers (OnePlus and Amazon will sell it unlocked, as well). Note that Verizon is selling it at a higher price of $799 (128GB). (The newer OnePlus Nord is an even cheaper option, but it's not available in the US.)

Normally, I'm a big advocate of opting for the less expensive of the multiple models that phone makers put out. Plus, Pro and Ultra models have flashy features that appeal to power users, but rarely justify the added cost for most smartphone owners. And while the excellent display on the OnePlus 8 won't have users feeling short-changed, the better performing cameras on the OnePlus 8 Pro just might.

OnePlus 8 Audio review
Source: DxOMark English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
The OnePlus 8 does an above-average job of handling audio compared to the devices we’ve tested. In particular, its recording performance is well above that of the 8 Pro and the Galaxy S20+, the two phones we most closely compared it with. Its wide sound stage is helpful for providing immersive audio experiences. Overall it performs comparably to other value-priced flagship phones, although it isn’t in our top bracket of audio performers.

80% OnePlus 8 review: You get more than what you pay for
Source: India Today English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
OnePlus 8 is a phone worth buying. Like totally. Except the camera performance, which is not as good as that of the OnePlus 8 Pro, I don’t find the OnePlus 8 in any significant way inferior to the OnePlus 8 Pro. And OnePlus 8 Pro retails for Rs 54,999. In terms of performance, software, design, battery life the OnePlus 8 is as good as any other phone, including some more expensive phones. I wish OnePlus, instead of putting three rear cameras in the OnePlus 8, had done what Apple had done with the iPhone SE and had put one but top class camera into the OnePlus 8. That would have made the OnePlus 8 a complete phone for lot of consumers. But even without that, I don’t hesitate to recommend OnePlus 8 to anyone looking to get a phone for less than Rs 45,000. At its price, the OnePlus 8 is a superb and reliable phone.

Source: Tech2.in.com English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
It wouldn’t be a bad idea for the brand to rethink the OnePlus 8’s pricing here, though it's supposed to be cheaper in India already, compared to other markets. That is unless they want to drive potential buyers towards the OnePlus 8 Pro, which actually offers more premium features in the 50K+ budget. To sum it up, the OnePlus 8 is undoubtedly a good phone, but not necessarily the best value for money option at its current selling price.

Overall, I can easily recommend both OnePlus 8 phones – and I don’t think anybody would be disappointed with their purchases. OnePlus was able to produce excellently balanced devices in terms of quality and features as well as their value propositions, and so far, have been a highlight of 2020’s smartphone line-up.

All said and done, the OnePlus 8 series are nice phones, just that they don't particularly excel at any one arena. Finally, if you do end up choosing the OnePlus 8 route, don't forget there is an option to pick up the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage editions of the Pro and non-Pro models for S$100 more. OnePlus 8 review: Meaningful innovations elevate experience, justify price
Source: Business Standard English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
Starting at Rs 41,999, the OnePlus 8 is one of the expensive smartphones with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC. But it lives up to the price tag, thanks to the user experience it delivers with its hardware-software synergy. Imaging has always been a weak area for OnePlus smartphones. The OnePlus 8 plugs some of the holes, though not all. The cameras are not bad, but there are other smartphones in the same segment that do better in imaging.

The short answer would be — yes, absolutely. At the start, I felt that the OnePlus 8 was a bit overpriced for what it offers, and that sentiment still stands after reviewing it. It's not a massive upgrade over the 7T like I hoped, but perhaps OnePlus is saving some big upgrades for the 8T, which should be due sometime later this year.

At RM2899 for the base model, and considering the options out there, recommending the OnePlus 8 can be a little difficult. Frankly speaking, using the phone reminded me a lot of the OnePlus 7 Pro I reviewed last year. Colour quirks aside, the OnePlus 8 is a fantastic flagship smartphone at an amazing price. You rarely get this quality level of design, features and performance at such good value. When the biggest let down is that the main camera can do a better job of close-ups than the macro lens, you know you have an excellent phone. So this time around, it's hard to say for sure whether the OnePlus 8 is worth your money. As you can see, it depends on the market, and it depends on what you are after. But putting the software aside, in markets outside of China and India, there might be more sensible options for the price. Better yet, if 5G isn't on top of your list of priorities, getting your hands on a 7T or 7T Pro still hanging on a shelf somewhere might be the best way to go. And if going up the price ladder is an option, 8 Pro or any other flagship for the price will serve you better in the long run.

OnePlus 8 Review: Dying A Hero
Source: MrMobile English Archive.org version
OnePlus is a smartphone maker with a cool story. It started out by appealing to buyers who were price-conscious, yes, but more importantly: phone geeks. So OnePlus phones have always been fast and buffed up by a few cherry-picked features that actually make them more useful. At the same time, OnePlus has mostly resisted adding extraneous bloatware that doesn’t improve the experience. The result has been years of products that I could recommend not just to fellow nerds, but to normal people who just wanted a really solid phone at a fair price. The OnePlus 8 doesn’t betray that legacy, but it also doesn’t do much to push it forward. For that you need to look to the OnePlus 8 Pro, but then you’re jumping to a $900 phone. The OnePlus 8 here? A buck under $700. That's more in line with the company's traditional year-over-year price hikes, but it's still more expensive than ever. With competition like the Pixel 3a selling for less than half the price, does the OnePlus 8 stand a chance even though it's about to be on more shelves than ever? Find out in my OnePlus 8 Review!

The main thing is whether the Pro is enough to tempt you to splash out.

At this moment, that feels right to me, so the OnePlus 8 earns our Editors' Choice for reasonably affordable 5G phones. Whether it feels right to you depends on your economic circumstances. If you can afford to spend more, the OnePlus 8 Pro is a good alternative for T-Mobile, while the Galaxy S20+ is a solid choice for any network.

The OnePlus 8 sets the bar high for budget flagships in 2020.

87.8% OnePlus 9 vs. OnePlus 8T smartphone camera comparison: Is Hasselblad the winner or is it OIS? | Notebookcheck
After several camera updates and just in time for the market launch of the OnePlus 9, we compare the cameras of the latest high-end phones from OnePlus. Our review features the OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 8T. Although the 2021 model has a Hasselblad-branded camera setup on the back, it lacks the OnePlus 8T's IOS.

100% OnePlus 8T review: The best OnePlus yet
Source: Expert Reviews English EN→zh-CN
Without significant forward steps in the camera department you’d think it might be tough to get too giddy over the release of the OnePlus 8T but far from it. There are improvements in enough other areas that the 8T just about edges in front of our current favourite mid-range phone, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE. The OnePlus 8T has a nicer design and feel to it and a longer-lasting, faster-charging battery. Although the camera isn’t quite up to the S20 FE’s standards, it’s not far behind, plus you have the bonus of decent macro and monochrome photography options, as well. With the only significant weaknesses being a lack of dust and water IP rating and no microSD slot, the OnePlus 8T makes a strong case for itself as the finest mid-range smartphone money can buy. If you’re looking to spend around £549 on a smartphone, this is the one to beat.

When I first got my hands on the OnePlus 8T, I really wanted to love it. I thought OnePlus was going to take the best parts of the high-end OnePlus 8 Pro and return to its roots by making a serious flagship-killer, especially after the underwhelming OnePlus 8. But the $749 price tag is too much, given the competition, and disappointing camera performance has made the OnePlus 8T a letdown. Build quality, performance, and 120Hz display are serious high points for the OnePlus 8T. But I don’t think it really marks a major upgrade over the OnePlus 7T from last year. It’s a bit faster in benchmarks, but in real-world use that doesn't make a huge difference. And I don't think a jump from a 90Hz display to 120Hz is worth the price of an upgrade.

OnePlus 8T Battery review: Great boosts of power
Source: DxOMark English EN→zh-CN
The OnePlus 8T with its 65W charger provides both overall fast charging and great quick boosts of power. Where it falls a bit short is in autonomy, particularly in comparison with the Mi 10T Pro, where the 8T lags behind by more than half a day in average use. However, the tradeoff between autonomy and charging among the three phones results in a virtual tie, with the OnePlus only one point behind the Xiaomi and 3 points ahead of the Oppo in the high-end segment.

OnePlus 8T revisited: The good and bad six months later
Source: Android Authority English EN→zh-CN
At the end of the day, it’s pretty hard to recommend the OnePlus 8T. This is especially the case considering that the OnePlus 8 Pro is now discounted to $699 and the OnePlus 9 retails for $729. Six months later, the OnePlus 8T sits at an awkward price point, offering a great user experience at the sacrifice of good camera performance and a few key essentials for any modern, value-centric flagship.

OnePlus 8T Selfie review: Not flashy, but functional
Source: DxOMark English EN→zh-CN
The OnePlus 8T, while not earning sterling scores for its front camera, produces decent selfies within its limits. Especially outdoors and at optimal focal distance (30 cm to 50 cm), it captures sharp, well-exposed selfies, even if there tends to be strong luminance noise in low-light conditions. Its limitations show up at greater distances because of the fixed-focus lens. Selfie-stick devotees may be disappointed because of slightly out-of-focus images at longer distances. The limited depth of field could be an issue for those seeking to present detailed backgrounds. The camera also has some limitations in lower light situations. Video performance is adequate but not spectacular.

The lack of a dedicated tele-camera means it’s best to limit yourself to small doses of tele-zoom to avoid too much loss of detail. The ultra-wide camera is a good option when you need a wider field of view to capture a scene, but noise and image artifacts mean it’s not for image quality perfectionists.

97% OnePlus 8T review: It will make you reconsider buying an iPhone
Source: Techaeris English EN→zh-CN
I haven’t been this excited for an Android phone in a very long time. I purchased the very first OnePlus phone years ago and thought it was good, nothing special, just good. Coming back to check them out again after all these years really surprised me, in a good way. While I still think the other Android options on the market are viable and really great for their user base. The OnePlus 8T really ticked all the requirements for me personally. It has amazing battery life, excellent cameras, a silent switch, the ability to use custom icon packs, and the user interface is elegant and well thought out. Like anything else, the OnePlus 8T isn’t for everyone. But iPhone users take note. Suppose you’re considering upgrading to a new iPhone but have also wondered about Android. The OnePlus 8T is the perfect phone for you to dip your feet into. Most of this phone will feel familiar to you, and I think you’ll really enjoy it.

That said, we still stand by OnePlus goal of trying to bring an affordable, flagship-performing device to the masses. Just look at its street price. For S$899, you can get the 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM variant, or pick up the 12GB RAM + 256GB ROM version at just S$1,099. Those sticker prices are really hard to beat - so much so that OnePlus struggled to pick features on the 8 Pro for diluting or leaving out on the 8T. Bargain hunters have no excuse but to keep this budget flagship phone squarely on their radars.

OnePlus 8T Review: Minor Tweaks With Some Significant Improvements
Source: Lowyat.net English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
When the OnePlus 8 made its debut earlier this year, I said that recommending it was a little difficult, especially seeing how the OnePlus 7 Pro would have been a better choice, primarily due to its camera performance. In a way, the creation of the OnePlus 8T is essentially the brand’s response and, quite possibly, way of making amends for what its predecessor was lacking.

OnePlus 8T review - A great performing flagship (well, almost)
Source: Tech Nave English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
Overall, the OnePlus 8T is a pretty decent flagship for RM2699. It has a simple design, smooth OxygenOS UI, powerful chipset for mobile games, and fantastic battery performance. However, there are several other options in this price range, so it's definitely not going to be an easy first choice for consumers.

OnePlus 8T Review: It’s Nearly Perfect
Source: Gear Diary English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
Dan and I both bought the OnePlus One when it came out in 2014, and over the years I have owned many of their later models. I’ve watched the OnePlus’s devices become even better over time, and while there’s been a big price shift from the $299 that the original OnePlus One sold for to the nearly $1000 that their latest phones have cost, for the most part, I’ve felt it was justified. Where in the not too distant past, I might have loved the hardware but hates the camera, OnePlus has really stepped up. OnePlus continues to offer better features, faster speeds, larger RAM, and glorious displays with some of the fastest refresh rates available at any price. I can manage without wireless charging and Wi-Fi calling, but if those features were ever available on this device, I would call it perfect.

79% Geek Review: OnePlus 8T
Source: Geek Culture English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
With very little to differentiate the OnePlus 8T and its OnePlus 8 predecessors, it’s hard to justify why the company needs to put this variant out. That said, its super-fast 120Hz refresh rate and 65W wired charging are always welcome features. The OnePlus 8T is a bang for a buck. From a 120Hz display to the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor the smartphone has everything you need. The 65W fast charging helps to get the smartphone charged up quickly and In addition to this, the stereo speaker setup combined with the smartphone’s stunning display makes the media streaming experience better. The cameras are decent and the Oxygen OS 11 makes everyday usage fun. Overall if you are looking for a good device under 45,000 then you can go for this without thinking twice.

So do I recommend the OnePlus 8T? I sure do. It is my favourite mid-ranger for the year and punches well above its weight. Available in Aquamarine Green or Lunar Silver (plus there is now a limited edition Cyberpunk 2077 Edition) you can pick one up for less than $900 from Kogan and other suppliers with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The 12GB/256GB version will of course cost you more.

Keeping up with the tradition, OnePlus launched the ‘T’ version of the OnePlus 8 series in India a few weeks back. The OnePlus 8T is similarly spec’d as its predecessor, but, it carries few upgrades too – 65W charger, a 200mAh battery bump-up, 5MP macro camera, 2MP depth camera and 120Hz display. However, the upgrades becomes meaningful only if it’s implemented right.

Aside from wireless charging, it’s really tough to point out any compromises that OnePlus made here. The camera still isn’t quite as strong as we’d like it to be, but these days a little creative editing and shooting techniques will get you where you need to go. Definitely keep this on your Christmas list.

86% OnePlus 8T review: 5G, 120Hz display and excellent camera, but the price isn't right
Source: CNet English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
At time of writing, OnePlus has lowered the prices of the 8 and 8 Pro by $100. Going by the same memory configuration across all three phones (12GB of RAM and 256GB storage), the OnePlus 8 costs $700 and is $50 cheaper than the OnePlus 8T. Maybe if you're already paying $700, that extra $50 won't matter all that much to you. In that case, feel free to nab the 8T. But if you want to save as much as you can, get the OnePlus 8. Sure, you won't get that 120Hz refresh rate, but it's still a superb phone with a great battery life and a smooth 90Hz display. Though April may feel like a long time ago, the notion that the OnePlus 8 is an "old" phone just hasn't settled in yet. And with its new lowered price, it's the more compelling pick.

There’s not a lot of change for the OnePlus 8T VS the flagship launched a few months ago. It’s still a great budget flagship in its own right but there’s plenty of other choices floating around at its price range that threaten its existence in the market.

OnePlus 8T review second opinion: A long-time OnePlus fan weighs in
Source: Android Authority English EN→zh-CN Archive.org version
Let me once again reiterate that the OnePlus 8T isn’t objectively a bad phone. If you have $750 to spend and you want a good phone, the 8T is a decent option. However, the only reason I would actually suggest someone spend $750 on it is if they absolutely needed a OnePlus phone with 65W charging. If you don’t need 65W charging, you can choose from many other OnePlus phones for half the price and a similar experience. If you aren’t already sold on buying a OnePlus phone, well — there are a whole lot of competitor phones you should check out before you commit.

The OnePlus 8T gets so much right that it makes the few things it gets wrong all the more frustrating. Warp Charge 65 is insanely fast for wired charging, although you do have to keep a wired charger around. For $749, I think this is a solid device, but you'd also do better by spending a bit more for the superior camera and wireless charging found on the OnePlus 8 Pro. Along with all this, the inclusion of 65W fast charging adds more weightage to the smartphone. At a starting price tag of Rs 42,999, OnePlus 8T is a fine deal. At this price, you get a powerful processor, 120Hz display and 65W fast charging. OnePlus has got the ammo in the form of this smartphone to take on the competition in this price segment.

Priced Rs 42,999 onwards, the OnePlus 8T goes for a cheaper price tag than the OnePlus 8, despite bringing several major upgrades over predecessor. It makes a good value-for-money smartphone in the OnePlus line-up, but not when compared with other smartphones in the same segment. The OnePlus 8T’s generic design, mediocre cameras, and lack of wireless charging and ingress protection rating pull it behind competing smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE (review). After the slightly underwhelming OnePlus 8, all eyes will be on the OnePlus 8T to fix many of its shortcomings. Well, the OnePlus 8T does introduce many changes, but still leaves out many of the features we were hoping to see such as an IP rating or even wireless charging. OnePlus' decision to leave these features out is quite frustrating, but also perhaps understandable, since you don't want a new phone to steal the thunder away from an existing flagship. This is what happened to the OnePlus 8 when the Nord was launched, and I don't think OnePlus wants to make the same mistake again.

In fact, I won’t be surprised if OnePlus 8 buyers feel a bit shortchanged after this one because it is, by all means, a better phone, coming just months after they got theirs. OnePlus has tried its best to leave some edge for the OnePlus 8 Pro, but this clearly comes in the middle. OnePlus 8T

The OnePlus 8T is a good phone, to be sure, but it isn't convincingly better than the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE in enough ways to justify its higher price. While OnePlus didn't announce a US version of the OnePlus Nord along with the 8T, I hold out more hope for a version of that attractive midrange model. The Nord has a level of polish that you generally don't see in $400 phones, and with its shimmery blue back and OxygenOS 11, it could really shake up a price point that's typically dominated by duller devices. For now, our general-purpose Android pick remains the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE. It has the reasonable price, long battery life, and solid zoom camera that most people want, and it's rife with trade-ins and sales that can make it an even better deal than its list price.

With the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro now being discounted ($599/$799) and Samsung’s Galaxy S20 FE shipping widely ($700), the 8T’s value proposition drops even further. We know OnePlus can do better -- the lovely OnePlus Nord is basically a OnePlus 8 with a Snapdragon 765G for €399. OnePlus 8T Durability Test - Is it worth the Ice Cream?!

OnePlus 8T review: More power, smaller phone
Source: Engadget English Archive.org version
Even though the OnePlus 8T is a mid-cycle model for the company, it impresses. It is very much a downsized OnePlus 8 Pro, inheriting the same screen refresh rate and almost-identical battery size, but puts it in a smaller, easier-to-hold package. There’s even 65W fast charging, which has been one of my favorite smartphone technological breakthroughs this year. All of these, combined with the slick OxygenOS 11, make for a great smartphone experience.

Source: Pocketnow English Archive.org version
On Pocketnow Daily, it’s the final day of Prime Day and we have a ton of deals for you. We have a new teaser that shows off a new camera design for the Huawei Mate 40 Series. A bunch of users are having trouble with their Galaxy S20 FE’s display. We have some details that Apple did not disclose about the iPhone 12, both good and bad. OnePlus just announced the Buds Z for a crazy good price tag. Finally, the OnePlus 8T is live but, we’re not sure about how we feel with this one’s price tag.
