Reviews for the OnePlus Nord 4

First and foremost this is a damn good phone and were I not a specs whore and addicted to Folding phones then I would be more than happy to daily drive this phone. It is solid it is nice hold and is well made. The software has some very nice features and touches and works very well with the rest of the OnePlus ecosystem. There is just enough sprinkling of AI on board to keep it relevant but most of it can be ignored if you want to and from what I can see all of it is included in the price no extra subs are required (unlike Google). Is it the best value for your money though given its current asking price of £429 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage version or£479 for the 16GB RAM and 512GB storage version?

The Nord 4 is probably not the best for low light images and getting macro shots and it is a bit disappointing that its other two cameras don’t quite measure up to the main camera. However, it is a pretty good budget smartphone based on its value for money and main camera alone.

At Rs 29,999, the OnePlus Nord 4 is an excellent option and should be considered over its competitors, sheerly because of how well it is built, how well-optimised the overall experience of using the device is, and the longevity offered by OnePlus through the extended software updates. The Nord 4 does have its quirks with the display brightness and camera in select lighting conditions, but that shouldn't stop you from purchasing a device that feels like it belongs to a higher price segment.

OnePlus Nord 4 5G is a rare find at the price point it is being sold at. Whether we are talking about the hardware or the software of the device, it passes with flying colors for everything. The people who want out-of-the-world camera performance could taste a little disappointment while indulging in night photography and Zoom. Apart from that, the handset is a performance monster perfectly suitable for people who are looking for a device that can offer fast-paced performance with a trustworthy battery life.

So, overall, to sum up my experience, I had a pretty good time using the OnePlus Nord 4! I believe this is one of the safest midrange phones to get right now under 30K price! I loved its fast fluid performance, interacting with the display is great thanks to the excellent haptics, you get an all-day excellent battery life, and it is easily the best-looking phone in its class. Overall, a pretty well-balanced phone! But if the camera is your topmost priority and you like to click a lot of selfies and portraits, you should definitely go with the Moto Edge 50 Pro or the Realme 13 Pro+. Both of them come with a dedicated 3X lens, and you can take some stunning portraits like these.

There's a strong case to make for the OnePlus Nord 4 being the best phone of 2024 at its price. The core experience is fast and smooth, its screen looks great, OnePlus packs plenty of storage, a considered interface and compelling software and security support, and with superb battery life and fast charging, it's a standout affordable phone. Even the Nord 4's weakest area, its cameras, isn't outright bad. Only time will tell if OnePlus's six-year fluency guarantee holds true, but the fact the Nord 4 has a higher-capacity battery than other phones at its price and nippier storage and RAM means battery degradation and day-to-day smoothness should persist longer than most of the competition. That makes it a champion choice for anyone shopping on a leaner budget.

There’s a comfort in knowing exactly what you’re getting with a phone before you’ve even picked it up, and that’s certainly the case with the OnePlus Nord 4. Given the brand, you know you're getting an Android phone with a focus on performance; given the sub-brand you know it’ll have some competitive features for its mid-range price; and given the '4' you know that the company has been doing this for long enough now to nail the concept. Chinese company OnePlus created the Nord line as an affordable counterpart to its feature-packed but pricey main series of phones, the most recent of which is the OnePlus 12, and it’s grown into a bustling family of varyingly-priced mobiles. A brief glance at the OnePlus Nord 4’s specs sheet shows that this is an iterative upgrade over 2023’s OnePlus Nord 3; it takes the same basic design and feature set, improves some of the aspects a little, and throws in a few extra features for good measure.

The OnePlus Nord has always been one of the best phones you can get for about Rs 30,000, and the OnePlus Nord 4 carries this tradition forward. The phone’s design has been making headlines, but below that shiny, classy metal exterior, there is some very good hardware and software that ensures extremely consistent performance, matching, and even bettering most players in the premium mid-segment. Indeed, the OnePlus Nord 4 is one of the few phones in its segment that does not actually have any major drawback (even the Poco F6 stumbles in the camera zone). It will not give flagships nightmares the way a Poco F6 does, but it will just keep going on steadily, working smoothly and almost never letting you down. The Nord series is known for turning heads mainly with its performance.

The Nord 4 sees the return of metallic phones, with the device combining a striking design with one of the best hardware packages in this segment. The upgraded internals make it a great choice for gaming, the 50MP camera at the back is a delight to use, and it has the best battery life of any mid-ranger. Throw in long-term updates exceeding that of the OnePlus 12, and you have a terrific all-rounder.

The OnePlus Nord 4 provides that rarest of things: a strikingly original and downright premium design in a mid-range package. Its metal unibody build makes it tough and distinctive, and if this marks the return of the metal unibody, we’re all in. It also benefits from a big, bright, sharp AMOLED display, as well as excellent performance thanks to Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3. Battery life is excellent, and if you can lay your hands on the necessary charger, it’ll juice up extremely quickly too. The camera set-up is merely OK, however, and you can get a better all-round photographic experience for similar money elsewhere. It’s not quite a match for the Pixel 8a overall, but the OnePlus Nord 4 is right up there as a worthy mid-range alternative.

If someone asks what is the best smartphone within the budget of Rs.30000, I would recommend the OnePlus Nord 4. The smartphone comes with a strong build and unique design since the glory days of metal smartphones are back with Nord 4. It provides a great viewing and usability experience. The performance is commendable within the budget and it also manages to capture decent images. Additionally, after its design, the main attraction of the OnePlus Nord 4 was its never-ending battery life. Therefore, in my opinion, the OnePlus Nord 4 is the best smartphone in the mid-range series.

The OnePlus Nord 4 offers a unique design reminiscent of mid-2010s smartphones with its all-metal chassis. Additionally, the smartphone offers a dazzling flat display, ample performance, solid battery life, and a few handy AI tools. Priced from Rs 29,999 onwards, the OnePlus Nord 4 presents itself as a compelling option for those seeking a flagship-grade experience in mid-range segment, even if it means compromising on a few features such as top-notch camera performance and Dolby Vision HDR support.

OnePlus’s efforts to push the boundaries with design and battery have truly paid off, making the Nord 4 a highly impressive smartphone. It may not be the most powerful device in its segment, but it gets the job done for most users. The cameras are decent, if not the best. However, I’d still recommend the POCO F6 (review) or the much more affordable Infinix GT 20 Pro (review) for hardcore gamers. Upcoming content creators may also want to look at the Realme GT 6T only if only shooting 4K videos with the front camera matters to you. But if you want a reliable performing device with an out-of-the-box design, the Nord 4 will surely impress.

With the Nord 4, OnePlus has delivered a pretty solid package that ticks all the boxes you would expect from a solid mid-ranger phone, and then some more. It's got a standout design with a build quality to match. The 120Hz OLED display is beautiful and the grunt served by the Qualcomm silicon inside is also impressive. The standout elements are the large 5,500 mah battery and support for 100W fast charging. The cameras on this one also pack a punch, though they could use a bit of color tuning that can do justice to all the fine details it otherwise captures in every frame. A software update should easily take care of that. The commitment of four Android OS upgrades is yet another crucial selling point.

Most mid-range smartphones seem to compromise on a thing or two, and the Nord 4 is taking the hit with its camera. Except that, it’s a text-book perfect smartphone that can handle everyday tasks with ease. If you are in search of a new phone with robust build quality, excellent performance, great display, and superior battery life, the Nord 4 is the answer.

The cameras may not be game changers but there’s still a lot to be impressed by with the OnePlus Nord 4. The battery life, while worth taking with a grain of salt, is some of the best you can get from phones of any price, let alone a mid-ranger like this. The display gets nice and bright under the right conditions, too, and colour accuracy was on point throughout. I’m not sold on the necessity of the all-metal design – it does feel nicely solid but the other edge of that sword is that the handset is heavier than it really needed to be.

If you have around £500 to spend on a new Android phone, the answer is probably yes. The Nord 4 has weaknesses, but you’ll struggle to find better value for money at this price point. The build, display, battery life and main camera are all very impressive, making it a strong all-rounder. And while OnePlus’ Android skin isn’t as slick as it once was, the phone is still very easy to use, and now offers six years of security updates. Downsides include a disappointing ultrawide camera, unusual two-tone rear design and the lack of a 100W charger in the box.

It's been another strong showing from OnePlus with the Nord 4, offering potential buyers one of the most attractive, efficient and hardware-generous phones of the year. It's definitely one of the best cheap phones you can buy, assuming you can buy it where you live. If you're wanting maximum potential value, then the Pixel 8a still wins out with its longer software support, with its more reliable cameras adding an extra incentive on top. But the Nord 4's cheaper starting price may be all the reason you need to go for it instead of the Pixel. Though don't forget the Galaxy A55, which is similarly cheap but offers a better camera experience in exchange for some feature quality elsewhere.

The mid-range smartphone market is full of competition from the likes of Xiaomi, Google and Samsung among others, but OnePlus could carve out its own space with the Nord 4. The all-metal design separates it from every other 5G phone on the market, and coupled with a decent spec and a tempting price tag, it could prove popular – but I’ll save my final thoughts for the full review, coming very soon.

The OnePlus Nord 4 blends modern flair with a touch of nostalgia. Its metallic body brings back memories of metal phones from back in the day but its hardware hasn’t been compromised to achieve the same. The phone is powerful enough to play most mobile games with zero lag which makes it a worthy competitor of the POCO F6 and Realme GT 6T, and it also has enough substance to stand out in terms of the display and battery life. There are a few shortcomings though. The phone throttles in benchmarks but I didn’t see an adverse effect on day-to-day usage, but the mediocre ultrawide camera and lack of HDR support on a few streaming apps are troublesome.

The OnePlus Nord 4’s metal body is cool, and it’s great to see the process being explored again after lying dormant for so long. However, you’ve got to really appreciate the engineering and feel of the all-metal phone, as there are some missing features that hurt the phone. There’s no wireless charging and no proprietary fast-charger in the box. The camera is a little ordinary, and while IP65 will probably be fine, other phones do better at this price. The software remains love-it-or-hate-it, and it’s less pleasurable to use than Android on the Pixel 8a, for example. On a more positive note, I love the way the phone feels in my hand, and it’s just about the perfect weight.

Despite a few drawbacks, the Oneplus Nord 4 offers a lot of value for a smartphone priced under Rs. 30,000. It delivers reliable day-to-day performance, fast battery charging, a good primary camera, and an ideal software support window. The slightly less impressive ultra-wide angle camera and unwanted software on the smartphone are the only things holding it back, and one of those can be resolved by uninstalling or disabling the apps in question. While the Nord 4 is definitely worth your consideration, other phones in the same price segment that also offer good value include the Realme GT 6T and the Poco F6 (Review). Both these phones offer performance that is on par with the OnePlus Nord 4, but the latter's camera performance leaves a little to be desired, as we found in our review of the handset.

All in all, the OnePlus Nord 4 remains competitive in its price range by offering a unique design approach, excellent battery life, speedy charging and great performance thanks to its Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chip. The camera experience is a mixed bag, but we tend to like the photos taken with the main camera in 1x Photo mode. The absence of stabilized 4K video recording is the bigger con in our books, though. Having 256GB storage by default would have made the Nord 4 a tad more competitive as at least half of the phones in the same price bracket start from 128GB. The promised 4 years of software support will likely draw some users who are already on the fence. So, do we recommend the Nord 4? For the most part, yes. Once the dust (and pricing) settles, it may even become a bargain, even. But for now, you'd get more competitive camera performance for the money elsewhere.

I have tested the Oppo Reno 12 Pro, Xiaomi 14 Civi, and the Realme 12 Pro+ this year, while all these phones had their pros and cons, and so does the OnePlus Nord 4 5G, but what makes the OnePlus Nord 4 5G the easiest to recommend is its pricing. The Nord 4 is priced starting Rs 29,999 for the base variant, and the top model that we have been testing is priced at Rs 35,999. That's just really good pricing. Beyond the price too, the Nord 4 offers a well-rounded performance, good cameras, a beautiful design, and an excellent battery life.

OnePlus has officially launched the Nord 4, and while the handset isn’t formally stepping on North American soil, I got the opportunity to go hands-on with this all-metal device. I’ve never reviewed or even gone hands-on with a OnePlus device, but unfortunately, our OnePlus expert, Brad Bennett, could not make the Milan, Italy, hands-on event, so I took his spot. While I don’t have much experience with OnePlus devices, I have a lot of experience reviewing and trying out different handsets, and the Nord 4 stands out. It’s a device with a unibody metal design that feels great to touch and play around with. It was also lighter than I expected, considering the material. The glass display lies flush with the metal sides, so there aren’t any sharp edges.

Unboxing the OnePlus Nord 4 with a review after one week of testing as my full-time phone. This is one of the best mid-range smartphones of 2024, and here's my verdict on the OnePlus Nord 4 5G's camera tech, gaming smarts, battery life etc. This all-metal monster shares some DNA with the fresh Oppo Reno 12 Pro and is a hot rival to the Samsung Galaxy A55 and other mid-range blowers. Like Oppo's phone, the OnePlus Nord 4 offers a dependable camera with Sony's LYT-600 sensor. You've also got the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 powering this smartphone, so Genshin Impact runs well even when you boost the graphics. Battery life is excellent, giving a full, long day of use without hitting power saver mode. The OnePlus Nord 4 should also please movie fans with its poppy 1.5K screen, and respectable stereo speaker setup. So are you tempted by the OnePlus Nord 4? Check out my reviews of the best alternatives right now including the Samsung A55, Pixel 8a and OnePlus 12R.
