Reviews for the Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G

The Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G is not the upgrade to the F17 Pro that I was expecting. Its improvements are better battery life, quicker charging, and a faster 5G SoC, but that's about the extent of it. The slim design, low weight, AMOLED display, and cameras are pretty much the same as what its predecessor offered. In fact, I'd argue that the cameras have dropped a notch or two in quality, which is a shame. Oppo seems to be focusing more on its Reno series now, and in the bargain, hasn't really done enough with the F19 Pro+ 5G to justify its price.

It's a hard sell this Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G, unfortunately. There's nothing inherently wrong with it, except maybe the limited battery capacity. But given the compact size and ergonomics of the phone, that can be forgiven. The 60Hz panel, though, is a misstep. Even the budget Narzo 30 Pro 5G offers 120Hz on the cheap and capable 5G Dimensity 800U chipset. The biggest issue we have with it is the price.

The Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G is looking to carve a niche for itself in the Rs 25,000 - Rs 35,000 space, which has no dominant player ever since OnePlus moved up the price ladder. At this price, Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G goes up against the likes of the OnePlus Nord and the Samsung Galaxy M51, Galaxy F62 and A52, and also the Realme X7 Pro.

The OPPO F19 Pro Plus is a balanced package, which could have been an all-rounder with a screen of a refresh rate higher than the conventional 60Hz. Nevertheless, it is a good midrange smartphone with a brilliant design, capable cameras, swift performance, intuitive user interface, and decent on-battery time supported by one of the industry-leading fast-charge technologies.

The OPPO F19 Pro+ makes a lot more sense than the OPPO F19 Pro as far as siblings go. The Pro+ comes with a better chipset, faster-charging support, and 5G connectivity. However, the Rs 25,990 price tag makes it an expensive proposition considering you can buy a phone like the Realme X7 (review) for under Rs 20,000. The Realme X7 offers the same MediaTek Dimensity 800U SoC, 50W fast charging support, and Super AMOLED display as the OPPO phone. Then there is the OnePlus Nord (review) that the OPPO F19 Pro+ has to deal with. While the OPPO F19 Pro+ trumps the OnePlus phone in the fast-charging department, the OnePlus Nord offers more fluid performance thanks to a combination of 90Hz display, Snapdragon 765G chipset, and OxygenOS platform.

Overall, Oppo F19 Pro is a no-nonsense smartphone offering everything you need along with support for 5G networks. This smartphone will please you with it’s design, battery life and good cameras. But if you are someone looking for more value for the money you are spending then you may not be pleased enough. Like already mentioned, the Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G has competition and that too at slightly lower prices.

Oppo has moved away from its “selfie-expert” marketing for the F series, and with the F19 Pro+ 5G, the focus has shifted towards providing a better video experience. So far, the Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G looks like a good enough upgrade over the Oppo F17 Pro, with 5G being the main driving force. Stay tuned for the full review coming soon.

The Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G feels like a clone of the Realme Narzo 30 Pro, given that the two phones have the same SoC, the same amount of RAM, the same grade of storage and whatnot. While the Narzo 30 Pro takes the edge in terms of performance, the Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G comes out ahead by a hair when it comes to its camera performance and design aesthetics. The phone does deliver impressive output when it comes to images, and also comes with Oppo's Full Dimension Fusion Portrait Vision system, which enaled HDR video recording and also offers a low-light video mode that does improve the video quality in low light. This is a phone for those who want something stylish, but camera-focussed rather than a performance/gaming focussed device.
