Reviews for the Samsung Galaxy A02s
The current entry-level model from Samsung's Galaxy A series is the A02s. For barely 165 Euros (~$197), the manufacturer includes a triple camera system and a quite large battery. However, there are a lot of competitors, including other inhouse models, and there are also some really basic problems.

The Samsung Galaxy A02s is an incredibly cheap smartphone that ticks a lot of key boxes. However, the positives – which include impressive battery life, expandable storage and a lovely design – need to be offset against the negatives. Here, it’s the camera and general performance that are found lacking.

I'd recommend the Galaxy A03S to anyone who wants to spend less than $200 on a new Samsung phone. Since it's the newest of the three phones, it'll get more years of software and security updates. I also found that it offered respectable performance for the price. While the A12 does take better photos, I didn't think the step up in quality was worth the extra $20. Instead, buy the A03S and invest that $20 toward the microSD card you'll need. If you wanted to check out other sub-$200 phones that aren't made by Samsung, Motorola has the $160 Moto G Pure phone and a $200 Moto G Power phone. The OnePlus Nord N200 5G goes slightly above the $200 threshold at $240, but it offers 5G connectivity.

The Galaxy A02s is a good smartphone if you only need the basics and you’re working with a tight budget. It’s hands-down the most affordable way to get your hands on Samsung’s One UI 3.1, but the processor can’t always keep up and the cameras won’t be your go-to for many family photos. That said, if you want a cheap way to watch your favorite shows and use your wired headphones, the Galaxy A02s is happy to oblige. If you’re willing to expand your budget a bit, there are plenty of Galaxy A02s rivals to consider for under $200. Samsung’s own Galaxy A12 ($179) might be one of the best, with a significantly better camera and a side-mounted fingerprint reader for not much more money. There’s also the Motorola Moto G Play ($169) that ditches the third camera but offers near-stock Android and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Finally, the Nokia G10 ($149) offers splash protection, a slightly bigger battery, and a better base configuration.

The Galaxy A02s isn't competing with flagships or even mid-range devices. It's slow enough that some basic software features are just about unusable without a great deal of patience. But everything works, it's $110, and you can depend on Samsung to value your security and keep the phone safe to use for the next four years. It may be slow, but it's reliable. In all, I'm pretty stunned at what you can get today for such a low price. Admittedly, for just $60 more, you can get the $170 Moto G Play, which I also like. The Moto is much, much faster — the new Snapdragon 460 positively flies compared to the somewhat decrepit Snapdragon 450 in the A02s. Plus, the Moto has a fingerprint sensor, among other benefits. The A02s is, by all hardware metrics, a worse smartphone, but Moto's software commitment for most of its phones is basically a joke in 2021; it abandons them so quickly.

In Malaysia, most consumers want to get the best out of the products that they have purchased. This is true even for tech gadget enthusiasts, especially with the current global situation. Digital devices are so important now, as they help us stay connected. But what if someone just wants something affordable, reliable, and easy to use? This is where the Samsung Galaxy A02 and Galaxy A02s come in with the special Digi Prihatin 35 Prepaid Bundle subscription, which offers a rebate of RM300 where subscribers can bring home the latter at only RM95, whereas the former can be theirs absolutely free of charge. If that sounds like something you'd be interested in, read on below to find out more about the features of the two phones and the Digi plan.

The Samsung Galaxy A02s feels like a return to the bad old days when cheap handsets sold based on name recognition, even if the internals bore little resemblance to the brand’s trusted products. This may be a Galaxy in name and looks, but the four-year old processor makes it a pretty poor choice in 2021 – especially when the Motorola Moto G10 is £10 cheaper and is the same or better on every metric.

Ultimately, if you're on a tight budget and looking to get the most out of it, perhaps brand loyalty shouldn't be on top of your priorities list, and you should look at competing offers from classic value-oriented makers. If you insist on a Galaxy, certain concessions are inevitable.

The Samsung Galaxy A02s is a good entry-level smartphone that I would recommend for people who don’t need much from their device, or they simply need a secondary one. At RM529, the Malaysian retail version will only have the 4GB RAM 64GB storage configuration, which will end up performing at least slightly better than our review unit.

Samsung with the launch of its latest budget smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy A02s, is hoping to grab the market share once again. The Galaxy A02 comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 along with the Adreno 506. In Pakistan, Samsung introduced the 4GB RAM variant along with 64GBs of internal storage only. The physical dimension of the phone is 164.2 x 75.9 x 9.1 and weighs 196g.

We just reviewed the Galaxy S21 Ultra, but now, we’re taking a look at the company’s entry-level smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy A02s has a pretty nice name too – like an anime mecha bot. That aside, here’s our review of the entry-level smartphone, Galaxy A02s. It’s not really that entry-level actually.
