Samsung has announced updates to its Galaxy Book Pro laptop range at MWC 2022, but new features look fairly thin on the ground. Launching alongside the 360-degree convertible, the 2022 Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro is extremely thin and light, just like last year’s Galaxy Book, and comes with a Full HD OLED display, again the same as last year. It still comes in 13.3in and 15.6in screen sizes and you can choose between graphite or silver colourways. The 2022 Book2 Pro models are lighter and slimmer, but only by a tiny amount. The 13.3in model weighs a mere 0.87kg and measures 11.2mm thick, while the 15.6in version comes in at a scarcely believable 1.11kg and measures 11.7mm thick. In fact, if you were to compare the 2022 and 2021 Galaxy Book Pro side by side by side you’d struggle to tell the difference. From the images Samsung has so far supplied, they look pretty much identical to the previous models. The main changes are invisible to the naked eye.

Important to note, thermal issues are prevalent in thin-and-light laptop category, especially those powered by 11th and 12th Gen Intel Core processors and the Galaxy Book 2 Pro is no exception. On other parameters, the Galaxy Book 2 Pro not just meets expectations but also exceeds in some cases. It has a sturdy build, dazzling screen, good backlit keyboard and touchpad, host of I/O ports, and top-notch connectivity.

Samsung makes some drool-worthy smartphones and now that we got a taste of the Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro, we can say the same confidently for its laptops too. The Galaxy Book 2 Pro is unbelievably lightweight and easy to handle, has oodles of performance to offer for regular folks, offers an amazing display, and has got all the necessary ports to get some work done. For a laptop costing just above Rs. 1 lakh, these form a good specifications sheet. That said, there are areas where the Galaxy Book 2 Pro falls behind its competition. The keyboard isn’t pleasant to use on the long run, and the battery life is average at best. The aggressive power management slows things and considering the Core i7 variant, Samsung could have offered an NVIDIA MX series GPU to enable decent editing and creative work. At Rs. 1,14,990, the Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro gets competition from the 13-inch Dell XPS, which we consider the benchmark for Windows notebooks.

The Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360 is a 2-in-1 premium ultrabook powered by the Intel 12th Gen Alder Lake-P series processor based on the Evo platform. The laptop delivers relatively high performance compared to last-gen ultrabooks from the competition, in addition to vastly improved battery life as well. The Galaxy Book 2 Pro does feature a few drawbacks, particularly in terms of I/O ports and thermal performance but despite that quirk, the laptop still comes out on top in several of our tests.

Finally, as with last year's models, Samsung has squeezed in a surprisingly generous number of ports and sockets, including full-size USB-A and HDMI ports into such a slim and light machine as well as amicroSD slot and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
