The Samsung Galaxy F23 smartphone is one of the best smartphones in the mid-range that brings great value to the users. Looking at the good aspect, you are getting the latest android, a powerful processor, bright screen, 5G connectivity, and long-lasting battery life. Everything looks good about this phone, but there are some sections where the company cut a few corners to maintain the price tag attractive. These sections are the TFT LCD display panel with a low color gamut, the camera quality is average. But the worst part is that you are not getting a fast charger inside the box. Long story short, you have to purchase a charger separately. In terms of alternative options, you can pick the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G. With this smartphone, you will receive all-rounders specs and appealing features but the final decision is up to you.

Samsung Galaxy F23 5G is a decent phone in the mid-range price segment. Thanks to the Snapdragon 750G chipset, you get a decent gaming and camera experience. Topping it is Samsung's software commitment. However, Samsung has compromised on the display front by including a TFT panel. Coupled with the single speaker, it is not a phone from multimedia. Likewise, the removal of the charger from the box makes it even harder sell.

Samsung Galaxy F23 5G is a solid performer at this price point. This phone has a great display, a powerful battery, a decent camera, and a solid overall performance. It’s also 5G-ready, making it a future-proof smartphone in this category. I’d recommend going with the 6GB RAM option, as the 4GB model may not offer a very nice experience. Additionally, it comes pre-installed with Android 12, which isn’t the case with the majority of competing smartphones. However, there are drawbacks like a subpar secondary camera, the absence of an adapter in the box, mediocre sound output, and no IP rating. Galaxy F23 5G is a good phone if these shortcomings do not impact your decision-making process.

The Samsung Galaxy F23 5G comes with a starting price of Rs. 15,999 for the 4 GB/ 128 GB variant while the 6 GB/ 128 GB model comes for Rs. 16,999. The smartphone comes with an impressive chipset, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G at this price point, Android 12, 5G support, and has very good battery life. That said, the phone does struggle in some departments, it comes with a dated-looking front, lacks an AMOLED display, and the absence of a charger can be a potential deal-breaker at this price point. Standing against it are the likes of the Redmi Note 11S and the Poco M4 Pro, which sport AMOLED displays and have better cameras (as well as chargers in the package), although they lose out on processor and 5G support. Surviving in this competition-laden scape is going to be an uphill task for the Galaxy F23, but its processor power and 5G support might propel it to the top.

The Samsung Galaxy F23 smartphone comes with 5G support at an expected price of $210 (Rs.15,599 in India) approx. The primary specs include the 6.6 inches TFT LCD panel that renders a 120Hz refresh rate. The latest Android 12 OS is compatible with One UI 4.1 user interface custom support. In terms of processing power, the 8nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G 5G chipset works better and goes up to 2.2GHz clocking speed. Moreover, the phone comes with 4GB/6GB RAM with 128GB internal storage. For decent photography and videography, there are triple cameras with a 50MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro lens. The rear camera setup can record 4K videos at 30fps. On the front, the phone features an 8MP selfie camera for clicking selfies and doing video callings. The Li-Po 5000 mAh battery is present in the phone with 25W fast charging support. As for the color options, the phone comes in Aqua Blue and, Forest Green color variants.

Samsung Galaxy F23 5G comes with a starting price of Rs 17,499. At this price, the phone offers an excellent battery life, the latest software with two years of promised subsequent updates and a decent display. Samsung has ditched the charger from the phone’s box which adds to an extra expense for buyers as the cable is a Type-C to Type-C one. The sub-Rs 20,000 phone segment is already one of the most competitive categories with Oppo K10, Vivo T1 and iQoo Z6 being the latest additions. For Samsung Galaxy F23 5G, the competition will be fierce and if battery performance is key for you then it’s worth a dekko.

The Galaxy F23 5G lives up to the expectations in this price range. The display is good, the battery is impressive, the camera and general performance should keep most users happy. It is also 5G ready and should be a future proof phone in this segment. The performance though is not perfect. But what might not make users so happy is the lack of a charger. Not everyone will have their old Samsung 25W charger waiting for this new phone. If one wants to get the official Samsung charger plus cable, that’s another Rs 1,999 going by the price listed on the website. In that case, the phone will cost around Rs 20,000. If you compare it to the Redmi Note 11 Pro or Pro+ or even the Realme 9 series, this does put Samsung’s F23 at a disadvantage.

The Samsung Galaxy F23 5G ticks most of the boxes that make it a worthwhile offering in this space. Its design is sturdy, robust and provides a great in-hand feel. Although the display could have been AMOLED, the 120Hz colour accurate LCD panel makes up for it and the daylight camera performance is more than satisfactory. Apart from that, the phone comes with Android 12 out of the box, which is something I cannot say for most of the competing devices. However, the front of the phone looks rather ancient with the waterdrop notch and the low-light photography from the camera is nothing to write home about. If these two drawbacks don’t factor into your decision-making process, the Galaxy F23 is a phone worth consideration.

Priced at Rs. 15,999 for the 6GB variant, the Samsung Galaxy F23 offers almost everything in a balanced way. From minimalistic yet fresh design, display of 120Hz refresh rate, long battery life, clean software, 5G connectivity, and decent camera performance - the Galaxy F23 is easy to recommend to anyone who is finding a budget smartphone for casual usage while keeping everything on board. But the missing charging adaptor from a budget smartphone is something that disappoints me the most. In that case, buying a new Samsung 25W charger will eventually jump the price of the phone. Though, there is a wave of smartphones under Rs. 20,000 price segment which you can choose from. As for gamers, the Vivo T1 is there to be considered, while Redmi Note 11S offers AMOLED display and better charging, but consider only if you do not care much about 5G connectivity. Otherwise, Realme 9 Pro with design quotient and 33W charging can also be a considerable option.

The Samsung Galaxy F23 5G excels when it comes to battery life. The upgraded hardware with plenty of 5G bands and the promise of timely software updates should keep it relevant for a few years. I'd suggest opting for the 6GB RAM variant though, as the 4GB variant did not deliver a very good experience in this review. Compared to the Galaxy F22 5G (Review), the display has somewhat better specs but it isn't bright enough for outdoor use in sunlight. I also found the cameras to be strictly average, and low light performance is still not all that great. The Galaxy F23 5G faces stiff competition in the sub-Rs. 20,000 segment. There are the Vivo T1 (Review) and the recently announced iQoo Z6 to consider. Oppo is also making a lot of noise about its upcoming K10 smartphone, which is expected to be priced under Rs. 20,000. There's even the Redmi Note 11 Pro, if you don't care much for 5G, not to mention some older models such as the Realme 8s 5G (Review) and Narzo 30 Pro 5G (Review), which are still worth considering.

The Galaxy F23 5G is a hard phone to give a verdict on. It has a nice high refresh rate display, fantastic battery life, excellent gaming performance, the latest Samsung software, and a rear-facing design that’s beautiful. However, the cameras are the very definition of mediocre, the bezels are too big for 2022, and non-gaming performance leaves a lot to be desired. I think the best thing I can say about the F23 5G is that it’s good for high-performance gaming on a budget. If that’s something you’re looking for, by all means, go ahead and get the Galaxy F23 5G. Otherwise, I’d recommend saving up and getting something like the Galaxy A22 5G. The A22 5G has its own negatives, but as an all-rounder, it’s a tad better (and it’s got great gaming performance, too, like the F23).

Samsung has been on the top of its game when it comes to the software of its recent launches, and it's nice to see the same level of attention paid to budget offerings too. The Galaxy F23 5G runs OneUI 4.1 based on Android 12, and Samsung has promised two years of OS upgrades and four years of security updates, which is really good. The pricing of the Samsung Galaxy F23 5G puts it in close quarters with the Redmi Note 11 Pro and the Realme 9 5G Speed Edition. The Galaxy F23 5G is at a slight disadvantage since the others offer better bundled accessories, including fast chargers. Can the Galaxy F23 5G deliver a good enough user experience to make it worth considering? We will be testing the performance, cameras and battery life of the Galaxy F23 5G over the next couple of days, so don't miss our full review coming soon.
