Reviews for the Samsung Galaxy S22+ 5G Snapdragon

80% Samsung Galaxy S22+ review: An upgraded galaxy
Source: Digital Trends English EN→zh-CN
For Samsung fans, definitely. The S22+ is an excellent phone, and if you spend a grand on it you won’t be disappointed. However, there are many other options available to you that will allow you to save some money and still have a great experience. The smartphone market around the thousand dollar price point is extremely competitive, and even an almost flawless device has a hard time standing out.

90% Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus review: Avoiding the Ultra Note trap
Source: Android Central English EN→zh-CN
Sitting between the compact, small-batteried S22 and thick, pricey S22 Ultra, the Galaxy S22+ offers the most traditional flagship form factor. Its flat design is simple but gorgeous, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 performance doesn't disappoint, and the camera hardware and software offer a significant step up on the S21. Even the battery life remained reasonably long-lasting despite a downgrade from the S21+. Aside from some minor nitpicks, this is a solid upgrade on the previous model, and you may want to consider it over the S22 Ultra.

90% Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus review: The all-rounder Android phone to beat
Source: Android Authority English EN→zh-CN
The Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus is no less a premium flagship than the S22 Ultra. Sure, it loses a few features here and there, but what matters is that it offers buyers the same core experience for $200 less. The phone is every bit as well designed and well made as its stablemates, and, more importantly, it surpasses many of its competitors in a number of ways. The screen outshines most rivals, the battery outlasts much of the competition, and the processor outguns practically everything at the moment. Add to that a compelling camera package and one of the best software update commitments in the market, and Samsung has a winner on its hands. That’s not to say everything is perfect. Samsung cheaped out a bit on the memory and storage options, particularly when you consider there’s no expandable storage. The speakers could be better, too. In the long run, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus is one of the best phones in the market. It may not boast the extravagance of the Galaxy S22 Ultra with its quirky S Pen, but it’s not trying to.

It might not have the wow factor of the Galaxy S22 Ultra, but don't make the mistake of overlooking the Galaxy S22 Plus. It's every bit a premium device and outperforms its siblings in some key areas. The Galaxy S22 Plus is one of Samsung's very best and the top Android phone to beat for those who don't need a stylus.

Samsung Galaxy S22+ still stands strong against its competition with a superior software update policy, best in class display, great cameras, and a lot more. While we do hope that Samsung improves some features of the smartphone such as slightly better battery backup and faster-charging speeds with the next generation of the S series, which should hopefully be the Galaxy S23 series, the Galaxy S22+ has been one of the best phones of 2022 I have used so far and is worth considering at its price point.

80% Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus review: the best of the bunch?
Source: T3 English EN→zh-CN
Samsung's Galaxy S22 Plus is sandwiched between the smaller S22 and bigger S22 Ultra models – it delivers the best battery life of the lot, and is a more sensible flat-screen option compared to the Ultra, which will make it the best pick of the series for some. However, at this price, there's the obvious lure of the curved-screen Ultra for not tonnes of extra cash. Still, as Android phones go, the Galaxy line continues to show its pedigree, whichever you pick.

Samsung Galaxy S22+ (Exynos) Display test
Source: DxOMark English EN→zh-CN
The Samsung Galaxy S22+ (Exynos) display’s performance proved to be just as good as the Ultra model, with both models attaining the same overall score. It showed itself to be very versatile and well suited for most of the real-life situations used in the display tests. The movie-watching use case, in particular, stood out because of its well-managed brightness, contrast and dark tones. Outdoors and in the sunlight, the brightness and readability performance of the S22+ (Exynos) was similar to the top-end S22 Ultra (Exynos). When web browsing on the S22+ (Exynos), the display was also readable in indoor ambient lighting, and scrolling was smooth. But in our night reading use case, a low light condition, we found the brightness level to be a bit too high. In addition, the low flicker at 240 Hz could be a strain on some eyes. Under sunlight, the display’s high brightness mode had a strange effect on some photos: While the screen was quite readable, all content details were lost and the photos’ color patterns appeared flat.

70% Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus Smartphone Review
Source: ePhotozine English EN→zh-CN
The Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus sits between the much less expensive S22 and the much more featured-packed S22 Ultra with its S-Pen and that's its fall down as, unfortunately, for what you get, it is expensive making it less appealing than the S22 and it just doesn't offer what the S22 Ultra does. It does look good, though, and the camera is decent but it's not the most comfortable smartphone to hold and it just doesn't feel like a flagship smartphone.

80% Samsung Galaxy S22+ review: Finding that flagship sweet spot?
Source: Pocket Lint English EN→zh-CN
The Samsung Galaxy S22+ doesn't make huge changes from the Galaxy S21+ from 2021 and many might find there's little reason to upgrade - it's much the same design, much the same experience, but slightly tweaked. It also suffers from sitting in the shadow of a newly-refreshed Galaxy S22 Ultra. This changes the position from 2021: with the introduction of the S Pen on the flagship S22 Ultra, some might think that phone is heading in a direction they don't want to go. At its core, the Samsung Galaxy S22+ is a great phone. It's well built, it has a great display and audio, it's smooth to use and the battery life lasts well enough. But you could get a similar experience from the S21 FE or the S21+ for a little less money. For those sitting on an older Samsung phone, the Galaxy S22+ makes a lot of sense as an upgrade: this will be a phone that performs in all areas, but it's not a huge upgrade from the previous version. Corrections - [18/02/2022] The original version of the initial review claimed the rear was plastic (as per the earlier S21 model). This is not the case: all of the S22 range feature a glass-backed design.

Source: The Mobile Indian English EN→zh-CN
Samsung Galaxy S22 series looks like the ideal choice of flagship one would go for. If you prefer a compact Android flagship with decent battery life, the S22 should be your choice while the S22+ is better in terms of a bigger display that gives you a more immersive experience with a slightly longer battery life. Both of them prove to be the perfect flagships in their segments. Hence, the dawn of the Galaxies is upon the smartphone world.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus second opinion review: A great compromise
Source: Android Authority English EN→zh-CN
There’s also another notable competitor in the Google Pixel 6 Pro ($899), coming in at $100 cheaper and bringing a sharper screen, even bigger battery, and a periscope zoom camera. But Samsung’s flagship has superior software support and is far more widely available around the world. Finally, we’ve got the iPhone 13 Pro ($999), sharing the same price tag, while also offering a 120Hz OLED screen, wireless charging, IP68 rating, and a flexible triple rear camera system. Apple’s phone does stand out thanks to a superior chipset on paper, a more versatile ultrawide camera, and access to an exclusive ecosystem. But Samsung’s phone also brings 8K recording and a host of other neat camera tricks (e.g. Single Take, object erasing, etc.). Nevertheless, those who value a bigger screen and charging almost every other day should definitely keep the Galaxy S22 Plus in mind. It’s definitely one of the more well-rounded flagship phones you can get.

The Samsung Galaxy S22+ is a safe but welcome update to the middle of the family. This model may suit a great number of users - especially those who now don't feel drawn to the S Pen-wielding Ultra. Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus Display Review: Vision Booster is a Game Changer
Source: XDA Developers English EN→zh-CN
This year, Samsung actually stagnated in terms of the development of their OLED hardware. The Galaxy S22 Ultra using the same luminous materials as last year’s is proof of this. Even though Samsung proclaimed to have squeezed out a bit more brightness this year, it’s no higher than what we’ve already measured on the previous Galaxy S21 Ultra. This is further supported by the fact that the Galaxy S22 Plus has a similar luminous power draw as the Galaxy S21 Ultra. Although I’m sure Samsung has its reasons, the cynical part of me believes Samsung knew they would be reusing its latest OLED emitters the following year, and intentionally inhibited the brightness of the first phones to use it so that they can announce an improvement for the next year. Either way Samsung spins it, I’m not mad. The M11 luminous material set is a damn good one. At this point, I’m more anxious that Samsung’s next process of emitters —the M12 set — won’t make as good yields, such as that which occurred after the Galaxy S10 series.

80% Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ review: Not Ultra, yet premium
Source: India Today English EN→zh-CN
There is no doubt that Samsung has come up with two really powerful smartphones here that deserve your attention. The Galaxy S22 is a really lucrative option because of its compact form factor and very less competition. It keeps things simple, is refreshing to use and doesn't miss out on any top-end features (except fast charging). Also, it's light on pocket. I see myself recommending this phone to a lot of people over the next few weeks. Things aren't the same with the S22+ though. The phone has the same camera and the same processor but costs more because of its large display and battery pack. It also faces tough competition in the form of iQOO 9 Pro and the soon to be launched, OnePlus 10 Pro. It may appeal to Samsung loyalists who are probably on a two-to-three old generation S series phone, but, others should wait for the OnePlus 10 Pro to drop in India and then decide.

The existence of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra might mean that many disregard this phone in favour of its souped-up sibling. However, I’d consider that device to be more a successor to the Galaxy Note phablet line, with all the additional extras that such a moniker entails, while this one very much carries on in the traditions of the Galaxy S flagship phone range. I was highly impressed by pretty much every aspect of this device, from the immersive screen to the versatile camera system to the punchy performance, and for me it hits the sweet spot of not being bogged down with extra features while still offering a complete and comprehensive package to cover your needs. That said, the battery’s not exceptional and it is an expensive device, so you’ll need to weigh up whether you would be adequately served by a more modestly-priced and longer-lasting Android device rather than coughing up all that cash for this one.

90% Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ Review: The Premium Android Experience
Source: NDTV Gadgets English EN→zh-CN
Despite mounting Android competition in the premium smartphone space in India, I think the Samsung Galaxy S22 is still worth your attention as it's currently one of the best compact flagships in the market. With the Galaxy S22+, things aren't so clear-cut, and it's harder to justify its higher price for just the slightly larger battery and display. The Galaxy S22+ could still appeal to an existing Samsung user who's looking to upgrade from an older plus-sized model, such as a Galaxy S10+ for instance. If you're looking for something that offers more bang for your buck, the Vivo X70 Pro+ (Review) is a solid alternative to the Galaxy S22+. It offers a good set of cameras with a higher zoom capability and a QHD+ display at around Rs. 79,990. It lacks the latest Qualcomm silicon but it's a very powerful smartphone nonetheless. Then there is iQoo's 2022 flagship, the iQoo 9 Pro (Review), which apart from the lack of an official IP rating checks all the boxes for a premium flagship at a tempting price of Rs. 64,990, making it a solid alternative to either of these Galaxy S22 models.

Samsung Galaxy S22+ Review: In The Ultra’s Shadows
Source: Gadgetbyte Nepal English EN→zh-CN
Alright, we have now come to the end of this review and I have to admit that I’ve had a great time using the Samsung Galaxy S22+. I think this is an incredibly practical device for someone who wants to use a flagship Samsung phone, but does not want to go all-in with cash, does not use the S-Pen, and doesn’t need all those fancy zoom capabilities. For those people, this phone ticks almost all boxes and nails the basics in a really impressive way. I mean, it’s got a great design, an impressive display, cameras that are almost on par with the Ultra, and you’re also getting similar performance levels—if not the same. Despite everything I discussed throughout this review, I do think Samsung could have made the Galaxy S22+ even better, but decided not to because after all, they’ve got to sell the more expensive phone which has higher profit margins for the company. In the end, this is business! In an ideal universe, it would have been a perfect phone, if it had all the goodness of the Ultra like the advanced LTPO 2.0 display, the 108MP primary camera, and the new cooling mechanism.

There’s nothing wrong with the Galaxy S22 Plus per se, it just doesn’t scream value for money. That said, if you don’t want the oversized Galaxy S22 Ultra, think the vanilla S22 is that bit too small, but sill fancy a big screen and Samsung’s latest and greatest hardware and software, at the right price, the Plus could be perfect, It combines premium design with a capable feature-set, a great triple camera system and one of the best screens we’ve seen on a smartphone to date. Whether gaming, watching movies, or scrolling through Instagram on it therefore, it’ll be more than up to the task.

90% Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus Review: Plus-sized reason to skip the iPhone 13, iQOO 9 Pro
Source: The Times of India English EN→zh-CN
Samsung delivers highly on the hardware front once again, proving that it can build superior phones than Apple. The Galaxy S22 Plus is better built than the iPhone 13, and certainly looks nicer (and modern). Its 120Hz AMOLED display is a joy to behold while its cameras offer a lot of versatility, with great portrait mode photos. Even the battery life is great for a phone of its class, matching the iPhone 13 with equal use case scenarios. Samsung’s One UI experience is sublime and pretty, and its 4 OS updates promise is reassuring for those who want to use it for several years. The drawbacks come in the form of the overall camera tuning, where the processing seems to be over aggressive. Make no mistake, the photos and videos look superb but it can’t match the iPhone 13 and the Oppo Find X5 Pro in terms of colour balance and overall treatment. And since we are nit-picking, those sharp edges affect the comfort factor. Also, the iQOO 9 Pro outdoes the S22 Plus with its overall performance and faster charging tech.

So, after all that, you might be asking yourself if you should actually buy either of these phones. The simple answer is yes. If you don’t mind the $800 and $1000 sticker prices for the S22 and S22+, you should be quite happy with your purchase. You simply have to choose which size phone you want. There is a decent improvement in overall system performance when compared to last year’s S21 lineup. That being said, if you’re on a Galax yS21 device, my recommendation is to wait things out another year for an upgrade. Just keep in mind that Google’s Pixel 6 is a great alternative to both of these phones, coming in at $200 less than the S22 and the Pixel 6 Pro is also a great alternative to the S22+ at just $900.

Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ First Impressions: The Big Switch
Source: NDTV Gadgets English EN→zh-CN
The biggest change to all three Samsung Galaxy S22 models in India is that they pack Qualcomm silicon instead of Samsung's Exynos SoCs, which is something many buyers have long hoped for. The Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ both feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. Both phones are available in two variants, with 8GB of RAM across the board. The Galaxy S22's 128GB storage variant costs Rs. 72,999 in India and the 256GB variant costs Rs. 76,999. Similarly, the 128GB and 256GB storage variants of the Samsung Galaxy S22+ are priced at Rs. 84,999 and Rs. 88,999, respectively. The Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ might not look like they've gotten any big updates on the outside, but a lot has changed on the inside. Another thing that's new is Samsung's One UI 4.1, which is based on Android 12. However, the most exciting change, in my opinion, has to be Samsung's big switch from its own Exynos hardware to Qualcomm. I still have plenty to test, both in terms of hardware performance and imaging, so stay tuned for my full review which will be out soon on Gadgets360.

80% Samsung Galaxy S22+ review: a good phone playing it safe
Source: The Guardian English EN→zh-CN
Everything about the Galaxy S22+ feels premium but it lacks a certain wow factor, particularly next to Samsung’s other £949 folding flip phone. The screen is great, the camera is good, performance is snappy and the battery life is reasonable. These are all big upgrades on old models, but no more than expected in a top phone in 2022. The S22+ feels nicer and is easier to hold than many rivals. In theory it is more durable, made from stronger aluminium and the hardest smartphone glass available. It will receive at least five years of software updates from release, making it the longest-lasting Android phone available and only slightly behind Apple’s iPhone. It is the first Samsung phone to be partially made from recycled materials, too. Buy it at lower than RRP, around the £750-£800 that previous models have been readily been available, and it offers a lot of phone for the money. Keep it for the five years you can safely use it thanks to security updates and it offers better value than many cheaper rivals.

The S22 Ultra has a 6.8-inch display with the S 22+ sitting at 6.6 inches. The Galaxy S22 Ultra is for the customer who wants everything and wants to do everything with their device. It has inherited the Galaxy Note’s S Pen which now has a space to be stored within the device’s chassis – just like the Galaxy Note the customers adored.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus may not be the top dog as far as the Korean giant’s offering goes but it’s still a worthy choice if you’re not the kind of person who needs an S Pen. This is basically a well-rounded smartphone that can pretty much do it all, whether it’s for productivity, gaming, or an on-the-go camera. If you can afford its retail price of RM4,099, this can definitely serve you well. If you are coming from the Galaxy S21 Plus, you may want to hold off on next year’s model or the Ultra variant to truly feel a difference.

80% Samsung’S Galaxy S22 And S22 Plus Are The Default Android Phones To Buy
Source: The Verge English EN→zh-CN
The Pixel 6 Pro is an obvious competitor here, and it sits between the standard S22 models in price at $900. It’s an excellent phone with cleaner software, better battery life, and some novel Google additions like a feature that transcribes the automated phone tree options you’re presented with when calling a business. It’s a bigger, bulkier device than the S22 Plus, but if you prefer a less cluttered interface and battery is a major consideration, go with the Pixel. The S22 and S22 Plus feel like a good fit for the mainstream, though. There’s the Ultra above the standard S22 models, but it’s pricey at $1,200 and feels like an enthusiast device with its stylus and multitude of cameras. The midrange class isn’t far behind, including Samsung’s very good Galaxy A52 5G, with better battery life but less robust performance. The S22 and S22 Plus occupy a comfortable spot in the middle, one that will please a lot of people. The phones’ solid support policy will see them through many years of use, day-to-day performance is excellent, and the versatile camera system handles most photographic needs well.

I've asked Samsung about the issue and have been told that it's likely the apps causing the issue, not an issue with the phone itself. The first thing I did after setting up the S22 Ultra was check the Twitter app, and unfortunately, it does the same thing. A quick search on Twitter shows that other users are experiencing the same issue, particularly in the Twitter app. Hopefully it's something Samsung and/or Twitter are able to figure out and release a simple update to fix. To be clear, I don't see the scrolling issue on my Z Fold 3 or the Pixel 6 Pro. I assume it's all software and can be fixed in a subsequent update, but don't expect an update to arrive before the phones begin shipping to customers.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus falls into the riptide between the compact and relatively inexpensive S22, and the flashy and feature-packed S22 Ultra, and will struggle to find much love compared to them. Perhaps it doesn’t deserve to either because useful features like its powerful processor, photography modes, and attractive appearance don’t quite offset its high price. Its design doesn’t feel comfortable in your hand, and its software feels slower than on rival phones.

Samsung Galaxy S22+ Review - DON'T Ignore It!
Source: Pocketnow English
Ever heard of the middle child syndrome? That belief where middle children don't get as much love as the others? Well, this is the Samsung Galaxy S22+, the middle child between a more affordable base, and a more powerful ultra, but frankly, the phone I think is already more than enough for most people. See, it's a no-brainer to spend less for the S22, and it's understandable for Samsung to give more spotlight to the Ultra as that's their claim to fame, but it's interesting to see that there are quite a few differences between them. The Plus is both larger and more capable than the regular variant, and it's almost as if the Ultra is the step-brother that just moved in from the Note land. And sure, it looks a lot like its predecessor, but it turns out that in this case in particular, looks can be very deceiving.

85% Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra review: A slot more superior
Source: Hardware Zone English EN→zh-CN
The Samsung Galaxy S22 series devices mark a good start to what 2022 true flagship-grade Android smartphones will look like. They are operationally fluid, with amazing displays, impressive performance, touting reasonable uptimes for their respective sizes. Whichever model you choose, the Galaxy S22 series phones are generally a joy to use. They also set the bar to what this year’s phones should be – features intact, with high-quality hardware and software. At S$1,178 (128GB Galaxy S22), S$1,468 (128GB Galaxy S22+), and S$1,858 (256GB Galaxy S22 Ultra), it’s good that Samsung kept the prices largely stagnant for new generation devices. These phones not only offer a complete package, but they are also good enough for Galaxy Z Fold3 / Z Flip3 / Galaxy S21 Ultra users to consider trading in if they want to return to a traditional smartphone user experience without losing flagship quality. For Galaxy Note fans who have been holding out, the Galaxy S22 Ultra finally marks a proper direct upgrade with the latest hardware and the most responsive S Pen ever.

Source: Mobile Syrup English EN→zh-CN
Overall, I really like the Galaxy S22 and S22+. They’re the best Samsung Galaxy flagships I’ve tested and, despite various gripes I had about the software, are very competent phones. They more than cover the needs of most smartphone users out there, especially if you’re willing to put in the time to customize them to your liking. That said, Samsung’s latest Galaxy phones fall prey to an increasingly common trend in smartphones – iterative updates. Neither phone offers much that I’d consider new or noteworthy enough to consider purchasing one, especially if you already have a smartphone released in the last three years. Moreover, the S22 and S22+ exist in a bit of an awkward spot. Technically, both phones are better than Google’s Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. However, for most people, the extra cost of the S22 series doesn’t make sense. The Pixel 6 starts at $799 in Canada, compared to $1,099.99 for the S22. The Tensor processor may not be as fast, or the screen as high-res, but from a value perspective, I know which one I’d choose

Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus Review: The best Android flagship for the mainstream consumer
Source: XDA Developers English EN→zh-CN
When it comes to who should and who shouldn’t buy one of these, this is pretty easy to break down. The Galaxy S22 Plus is the Android phone to get unless you’re getting the Galaxy S22 Ultra. It’s also the one to get if you’ve made the decision to switch away from an iPhone. Both the iPhone 13 Pro and the Galaxy S22 Ultra are great phones, and I’d never say you should switch from an iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy. But if you’re making that decision, this is the one you should switch to.

Samsung’s expertise lies in hardware, and it shows on the Galaxy S22. You get the brightest and most colorful screen in the industry, a lightning quick in-screen fingerprint reader, new and improved cameras, and a laundry list of premium features like reverse wireless charging, IP68 water resistance and more. And all of this in a phone that costs the same as last year’s devices: $800 for the S22 or a thousand for the S22+.

Viewed in a vacuum, it's a great phone. A good camera with many hits but some misses as well, acceptable performance, and great battery life. Still, there seem to be some issues with the camera performance that should get fixed so that the phone can unleash its full potential, and that's my biggest gripe with this phone. The S22 Plus saves you some money compared to the Ultra and it also saves you from the hassle of carrying a gargantuan phone around. At the same time, if you are fine with the bigger size of the Ultra, you get so much more with that phone, starting with the S Pen to the zoom camera, bigger screen, and way more impressive battery size. And all of that at not too much of a price premium. So yes, the S22 Plus shapes up as an okay phone, but it is overshadowed by the Ultra and those who want the very best, should probably look in that direction first.

The flip side of that reality is that while the S22+ is engineered to be as good as possible for as many people as possible, it is pretty boring. Once again, boring in a dependable sense, but still hardly the device that is going to tickle a smartphone enthusiast's fancy. Keeping all of this in mind, the decision to get an S22 device is a simple and equally boring one - do you want and/or need the new Samsung flagship with all of the familiar positives and negatives that come with it? Nothing massive has really changed about this very same question going back at least a couple of Galaxy S flagship generations. The S22+ remains an ever-dependable default choice, and for a good reason. If "default" is not your style, there is a vast sea of more interesting and exciting devices out there for anyone willing to explore them.

The Galaxy S22 Plus is in a very crowded smartphone price range right now, and that’s actually due to Samsung’s own smartphones. They are competing with themselves now. The real question is, should you spend another $200 for the Galaxy S22 Ultra with the S Pen, bigger battery, bigger screen, and likely better performance? Or should you spend a bit less and get the smaller Galaxy S22, or even the Galaxy S21 FE. All of which launched this year – and we’re not even two months into the year. For most of you out there, the Galaxy S22 Plus is a great buy. But there are arguably better phones that are cheaper. Like the Pixel 6 Pro at $899. What it comes down to is, do you want a Samsung smartphone? Or would you rather get something from Google, OnePlus or even Motorola?

At the moment, Samsung's Galaxy S22 phones are effectively the only true Android flagships available in the US, because they're the only ones with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset and X65 modem. The OnePlus 10 Pro may soon arrive with the same specs, while Samsung is likely to launch a Flip and a Fold this fall with the latest hardware, and Motorola might be up to something as well. But until something unseats them, the S22 phones are the ones to beat. The small Galaxy S22 is a delightful size for one-handed use, but I'm concerned that its battery life is on the edge of acceptable. Many people care deeply about battery life, and the direct link between phone size and battery has prevented smaller premium handsets from selling well for a few years now. The S22 Ultra, on the other hand, has the best battery life in the lineup, a 10x camera, and a built-in slot for the included S Pen stylus. It's also huge, heavy, and expensive. The S22 Ultra is the natural (and worthy) successor to Samsung's Galaxy Note series, a lineup that had loyal fans (including my wife, an artist).

But there’s something else the Galaxy S22 series is revealing. For US consumers, the gap between Samsung and the Android competition is now even wider. 90% Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus Review: 2022's Easier Choice
Source: Slashgear English EN→zh-CN
At $999.99, the Galaxy S22+ is no more expensive than last year's Galaxy S21+, though you'd still be forgiven for wincing at the idea of basically spending four-figures on a smartphone and not even getting the full flagship. Samsung offsets that pain with some healthy trade-in deals, not to mention a pre-order promotion that gets you the 256GB model for the price of the base 128GB version. If things stay true to form, meanwhile, even bolder deals are likely to arrive in short order; we've seen things like two-for-one promos or discounts of several hundred dollars in previous years, and I'd expect the same for 2022. As sweet-spots go, then, the Galaxy S22+ feels like the ripest cherry in Samsung's 2022 line-up. It may not be a fancy foldable, or have the most megapixels, or the biggest display, but neither does it feel like it's lacking. There are very good reasons not to pick the Ultra instead, beyond the money you save in the process, and while those who need to have the latest and greatest may think otherwise, for the mass market this mid-point is just right.

90% Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus review: Avoiding the Ultra Note trap
Source: Android Central English EN→zh-CN
That being said, S21 owners shouldn't let fear of missing out push them into an expensive upgrade they don't need. The 888 hasn't lost its edge yet, and One UI 4.1 doesn't seem to have any S22-exclusive features that other Samsung phones won't get. Outside of the Material You coat of paint, not much has changed this year, and new camera features like the Expert RAW app will come to older Samsung phones too. If you do need a new phone, Samsung made a very strong contender for your business with the S22 Plus. Especially if you can snag one at a discount with a carrier deal and trade-in or a holiday deal down the line. While you may be tempted by the expensive, two-handed Galaxy S22 Ultra because of the RAM and resolution upgrades, I'd argue that spending that extra $300 doesn't match the upside. The Galaxy S22 Plus is a stronger alternative in terms of value-to-price ratio, with the speed, display, and cameras that you need in a phone you can (mostly) hold one-handed, whereas the Ultra is really only for people that will regularly use an S pen with your phone.

90% Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus Review: Samsung's Middle Child May Be My Favorite
Source: CNet English EN→zh-CN
The Galaxy S22 Plus' camera is noticeably better than last year's Galaxy S21, the size is just right for people who prefer larger screens and the new design makes it feel fresh. That said, if you have a Galaxy S21, it's not worth spending $1,000 to upgrade. Even though I appreciated the camera enhancements, these are all just iterative updates for the most part. However, if you're upgrading from an older phone like the Galaxy S10 generation or earlier, you'll find a lot to love about the S22 Plus. At the same time, the Galaxy S22 Plus left me wanting more in certain areas. I was hoping to see additional photography features that make more use of Samsung's improved camera. I'd also like to see battery test results from the S22 Plus that more closely match the similarly priced iPhone 13 Pro. And the $1,000 price can still make the Galaxy S22 Plus a tough sell at a time when midtier phones in the $600 to $700 range, like the Pixel 6 and Galaxy S21 FE, are improving. If you're eyeballing Samsung's new phone, there's a good chance you may be deciding between the Galaxy S22 Plus and $900 Pixel 6 Pro.

While we wait for the final benchmarks to roll in, I’m left ambivalent about the Galaxy S22 Plus. On the one hand, it’s a very good phone with plenty to offer and cameras that are more than good enough in most circumstances. On the other, it’s a marginal upgrade at best over the Galaxy S21 Plus, further cementing the idea that you don’t need to upgrade your phone every year. Your Galaxy S21 or Galaxy S21 Plus right now have basically the same software and cameras that are almost as good. In fact, the S22 Plus only stands out from its predecessor with its display. That 1,750 nits sure does come in handy while outdoors, and the 10Hz-120Hz refresh rate range should help battery life. That said, if you’re on a Galaxy S20, Galaxy Note 20, or anything older, then the Galaxy S22 Plus is a great upgrade. It’s powerful, it’s beautiful, and that display will certainly wow you if you’re coming from previous generations. We’ll update this review once we have final benchmarks and impressions.

Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra hands-on review
Source: GSM Arena English EN→zh-CN
As Samsung's top-tier trio for 2022 (foldables excluded), the Galaxy S22s are by definition going to be great smartphones. The extent to which they excel in this or that area (or fall slightly short) will remain a mystery for a couple more weeks until review units start arriving, but a few things are clear already. For starters, the Galaxy S22 is leaning more towards being marketed as a true compact flagship, thanks to its smaller size than last year and the build to match the other two. On the flipside, the smaller battery capacity could be its most serious con. The Galaxy S22+ makes a simple trade-off then, offering longer runtimes and larger screen area at the expense of taking up more space in your pocket (though it will 'help' by freeing up an extra €/$200 worth of its contents). Another €/$200 on top will get you the Galaxy S22 Ultra and it's trying to be everything to everyone. Whether you look at it as an S21 Ultra successor, or the reincarnation of the Note lineup in all but name, it's packed to the brim with hardware.

Samsung Galaxy S22 hands-on: It's more interesting on the inside
Source: Engadget English EN→zh-CN
In a lot of ways, the S22 feels like the “tock” to the S21’s “tick.” Last year, Samsung rolled out a fresh new design, and now Samsung is following that up with a bunch of upgraded tech. Sure, the outside of the phone may have not changed a ton, but the updated colors look good, and coming from someone with a Phantom Green Z Fold3 that actually looks gray 99 percent of the time, the new green on the S22 is much richer and way more satisfying. And while we’ll need time to put the S22 through its paces, Samsung investing so much time and effort in the phone’s new cameras really shores up the biggest weakness of last year’s device. So even though it’s too early to hand anyone the crown for the best phone of 2022, the S22 feels like a thoughtful sequel to an already strong base. Pre-orders for the Galaxy S22 and S22+ start today with official sales beginning on February 25th. And for those who do pre-order, Samsung is including a free upgrade to the next storage tier and $100 worth of Samsung credit (or $150 for the S22+).

Time will tell just how good their new camera system is, and whether the phones can hold their own against the 108MP behemoth – the S22 Ultra, or other champs like the iPhone 13 Pro and Pixel 6. Early impressions are unabashedly positive for all three of Samsung’s S22 smartphones, with the S22 in particular set to be the slim phone lover’s choice weighing just 168g and measuring 7.6mm thin. Meanwhile, the S22 Plus is a OnePlus 9 Pro competitor, with its larger screen and sub-£1,000 price, while the Ultra, which you can read about in our S22 Ultra hands-on, delivers S Pen input, even bigger visuals, and a top-tier camera system.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus preview

At the end of the day, the question remains, should you buy the Galaxy S22 Plus? Well, it's way too early to say! Samsung will officially unveil the Galaxy S22 series in an Unpacked event on February 9th, and the phones are expected to hit shelves towards the end of February. We will definitely be testing the phones in great detail once we get our hands on them, so stay tuned for updates and a final verdict once we do that! Our early thoughts, however, are that the Galaxy S22 Plus is in a weird spot between the impressive Ultra model that will attract more attention and with the higher pricing, it will be hard for Samsung to compete against lower-priced Pixels and equally priced iPhones. But what do you think about this Plus version? Is this the right upgrade? Or should Samsung consider adding a few new features to justify the higher price, maybe a periscope zoom camera? Sound off with your thoughts in the comments below!

只有较少的手机有很大的屏幕。

大尺寸可以让屏幕有更高的分辨率。因而例如字体等的细节将会更丰富。不过另一方面,小屏幕的功耗会较低,而设备也会更轻盈小巧,售价更低。
