When Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab S8 lineup, it said a lot of people turned to their tablets in the past two years for work, school, gaming and video. And apparently, those people were yearning for larger screens: Sales of large-screen tablets grew 24%, Samsung said, based on analysis from NPD Group. But, the Ultra might be a step too far for most people and, by comparison, the Galaxy Tab S8 Plus is a better size that's just right for work and play.

Here’s the bottom line. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ and its big brother, the Ultra, are the best Android tablets you can get. If you’re looking for the best Android tablet you can buy, these are they. They will cost you more but are worth it if a tablet is one of your primary devices.

Samsung has churned out a series of slates that set the standard across the Android ecosystem. No other Android tablet offers quite the same high-quality hardware, expressive screen, and performance. The Tab S8 Plus, in particular, strikes the right balance between size, portability, and power. However, while Samsung has the high-end Android market practically on lock, it is not the only game in town. Competing platforms and devices in the same price range with laptop-caliber chipsets handily outperform the Tab S8 Plus, particularly when it comes to advanced tasks and weighty apps. The Galaxy Tab S8 Plus, solid though it may be, is also constrained by the Android platform which is under-optimized for larger screens. In the end, there are better options for those seeking the best tablets that can replace a laptop. However, if you’re in the market for a premium Android tablet or want a top-tier widescreen media slate with a solid feature suite for work on the side, there is no other device worth considering.

I'm a firm believer that you should never buy a product for its promise of future updates. The Tab S8 Plus is an exception. Not only does the Samsung tablet impress in hardware, but it delivers software features (for the stylus as well!) that no other Android manufacturer is doing. And with up to five years of software support and Android 12L on the horizon, there's a lot more upside for the mid-sized Galaxy tablet. At a starting price of $899, the Tab S8 Plus falls in premium flagship territory. But with some digging around, you can easily find it for cheaper and bundled with extra accessories, too.

After years of not seeing a great reason to buy an Android tablet, I have to admit that Samsung has presented a compelling pitch this time around — provided you are already in the Samsung Android ecosystem. The Tab S8 and S8 Plus integrate well enough with other Samsung products, they are excellent hardware on their own merits, and if you have specific use cases that are poorly served by Apple’s strict control over iOS, these tablets might just be what you’re looking for. Samsung still has some work to do fleshing out its ecosystem, and hopefully, Google’s renewed interest in Android tablets will produce better third-party app support (I’m not holding my breath there, though). And it’s a bummer that if you have a Pixel or other Android phone, you can’t really take advantage of a lot of the integrations Samsung has developed. But I think the biggest hurdle with the Tab S8 and S8 Plus as they are is their pricing. These are premium tablets with big price tags — especially once you start to add accessories to them.

The Galaxy Tab S8 Plus is the overlooked middle child of Samsung's latest tablet line but it deserves your attention. Its pricier sibling, the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, overshadowed the Plus when they were announced in February, mainly because of its huge display. But, while it's tempting to succumb to FOMO and get the highest-end device just to have the best of the best, the extra cost doesn't seem worth it. Instead, consider the more travel-friendly Plus. The Ultra's display is hard to ignore: It's a 14.6-inch Super AMOLED screen with a 2,960x1,848-pixel resolution at 240 pixels per inch and a 120Hz refresh rate. By comparison, the largest iPad Pro at the moment is 12.9 inches with a 2,732x2,048-pixel resolution at 264ppi. The Tab S8 Plus has a 12.4-inch, 2,800x1,752-pixel Super AMOLED display and a 120Hz refresh rate. It's the smallest of the three, but it's a great display to build a tablet around (or behind, technically).

Yes, assuming you need it. If you’re looking for a content consumer or a Netflix box, there are any number of tablets that will fit that bill for far less money. But if you want a tablet that can work and play with you, and you want it to be Android, this is the best there is.

So, what do you think of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 series? In our opinion, the large 14.6-inch Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra (RM5,899) is your best bet if you want an alternative to a Windows laptop. If you're fine with a smaller screen, the Galaxy Tab S8 (RM3,299) could be a better deal. However, since all of them weigh well below 800gm and are 5.5mm to 6.3mm thin, all of them are super portable and easy to carry about. If you're interested, it's even better that Samsung is now holding a promotion till 31 March 2022. During this period, you get to enjoy freebies worth up to RM1,887* when purchasing a Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 series tablet! Not only do you get a free Book Cover Keyboard and S Pen worth RM1738 (already included in the box), but also a Neoprene Pouch worth RM149. In addition, you can get also get 30% off on a Samsung Care+ 1 year protection plan (worth up to RM330).

Priced at Rs 87,999 (Wi-Fi + 5G), the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ is one of the best Android tablets available in India. It is not perfect, but the imperfections stem from the Android OS, which is set to get a complete makeover soon for big screen devices like the Galaxy Tab S8+. That said, the Galaxy Tab S8+ would be among the first devices to get the new tablet-centric Android OS. Importantly, it will receive up to four generations of Android OS upgrades and five years of security updates. In its current form, the Galaxy Tab S8+ is good for everyday use and entertainment, but not so for work.

The Galaxy Tab S8+ is an interesting device. In my opinion, it is definitely the best Android tablet there is for most users. So if you're looking for a new tablet that's based on Android to complement your ecosystem of Android and even Windows devices, then the Galaxy Tab S8+ is definitely the device for you. But before you actually end up making the buying decision, the only question you’ll need answering is if it's a better deal compared to its elder sibling, the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. As things stand, the Galaxy Tab S8+ comes in at a more affordable price point than its older sibling, but still manages to offer a similar package in terms of hardware and feature set. Which in my view automatically makes it the better choice of the two. Yes, it has a slightly smaller display than the Tab S8 Ultra, but with the Tab S8+ sporting a massive 12.4-inch display itself, there is very little reason to think that most users will miss the extra real estate. Apart from this, you get all that there is to love about the new Samsung Galaxy tablets in the Tab S8+, making it a very easy recommendation for me.

Samsung’s 2022 lineup of high end Android tablets, now include 3 sizes: the 11” Tab S8, the 12.4” Tab S8+ and the new Tab S8 Ultra with a 14.6” OLED display. We look at the middle model with a 120Hz OLED 12.4” display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, S Pen in the box and an optional $160 slim keyboard cover that’s the perfect companion to Samsung DeX. The Tab S8+ has Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth, haptics, quad stereo AKG speakers, a microSD card slot and optional 5G. Given the lack of high end Android tablet competition, it competes mostly with the Apple iPad Pro models.

If you're going to buy a premium Android tablet for note-taking, productivity, video calls, streaming, or whatever else you need in a multitasking device, make it the Galaxy Tab S8+. It's the one model that hits the right balance between size and comfort.

The big question I've been asking myself is, compared to something like Lenovo's $630 P12 Pro, is the Galaxy Tab S8+ worth 50 percent more? And you know what, actually yes. That's because while they might have similar designs and screen sizes, the Tab S8+'s display is brighter, it has noticeably faster performance and its quad speakers sound richer and fuller. Little luxuries like its in-screen fingerprint reader make it easier to use on a daily basis. And Samsung's S Pen and stylus apps are more sophisticated than anything you'll find on a rival Android slate. It's just an all-around more premium device. But what elevates the Tab S8+ above rival Android tablets is Dex mode. With the touch of a button, the Tab S8+ switches to a more desktop-like UI that makes multitasking and doing work actually a feasible idea, instead of struggling with productivity like you do on so many traditional Android tablets. In fact, the consumer version of the P12 Pro isn't even scheduled to get Android 12 until the end of March, let alone whatever happens to Android 12L.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 and Tab S8 Plus are remarkably limited upgrades compared to 2020’s Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7 Plus. If you’re after an Android tablet, this will likely be a top choice for 2022 – we’ll know at the time of full review - but it isn’t worth upgrading from Samsung’s last release.

It's February 9th, 2022 and as expected, today is the first of probably a few Samsung Galaxy Unpacked events. Virtual, I know.. Can't wait for us to get back to the in-person events, but the company was nice enough to give us an early preview of everything that got announced today, and well.. It's a lot. I'm Jaime Rivera with Pocketnow, and let's just dive in.

We’ll need more hands-on time with the Tab S8 Plus to be able to deliver our full verdict on whether or not it is the ideal tablet for you. However, based on our experience so far, the superb screen is likely to satisfy most customers; whether the camera system and the battery life hold up to scrutiny will be discovered after more thorough testing.

Samsung’s out for iPad blood, with the Tab S8 and S8 Plus taking on the iPad Pro 11 and 12.9. The pluckiest move from Samsung is probably announcing one of iPad OS’s most loved apps, LumaFusion for its Tabs. It’s been no secret that Android tablets just haven’t been able to compete with iPads when it comes to apps and interface, so this could mark the beginning of a two-horse race – finally.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 and Tab S8 Plus are among the company’s latest choices for top-end tablets and were revealed alongside the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Ultra and the new Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. The standard Tab S8 products that we’re reviewing are the cheapest members of the new tablet family that also includes that larger screen Tab S8 Ultra. Both these tablets are remarkably similar, so we’ve combined our coverage of each into one hands-on review. Now that we’ve had some time with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 and Tab S8 Plus here’s everything we’ve learned so far about the tablets, along with our first thoughts of how each runs and what you can expect if you buy one. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 and Tab S8 Plus are remarkably limited upgrades compared to 2020’s Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7 Plus.
