If you're considering picking up the Tab S9 FE+, I recommend considering exactly what you need from your next tablet. This is the one for you if you're after a big screen and long battery life. If you'd be OK with something a little smaller or that serves as a second device when you aren't using it, the Pixel Tablet is always a great option. It has a smaller 10.2-inch screen and a Tensor G2 processor, and it comes with a speaker dock that turns it into a smart display. Do you have your heart set on a big tablet for watching movies and multitasking on the go? Keep your spending in check with the Tab S9 FE+.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ is a cheaper, trimmed-down take on the Galaxy Tab S9 that keeps some of the premium allure, but sheds too much for our liking.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ looks good, it has a display that's good enough, and the battery life is fantastic. There's good software support and Samsung optimises better than some other Android tablet rivals for a better experience. Throw in the S Pen stylus and this is a mid-range tablet that offers a wide range of functionality too. Those wanting the best visuals will be better looking at the Galaxy Tab S9+, though, while there are cheaper tablets with more powerful hardware. While Apple sits in the top spot with the iPad, Samsung lies in second place in terms of global market share for tablets, and that experience shines through in the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE+.

The Galaxy Tab S9 FE Plus is a sleeper hit that’s ready to impress you with its features, its style, and even its durability. This tablet is loaded with features that make multitasking a breeze, and Samsung’s crowded software has room to breathe on the big, bright display. It doesn’t have power to match the iPad Air, but it does so much more that you may not notice if you don’t need a powerful laptop replacement.

I loved using the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ on a day to day basis, pouring hours into Hearthstone card battles, streaming YouTube while it was propped up with the Book Cover backing, and browsing the web. It’s a lavish-feeling tablet that impresses in a lot of ways, but when it can’t even perform to the level of an iPad that’s two years older and nearly half the price, it’s hard to make sense of the $599 price tag. On the other hand, the epic battery life and bundled S Pen stylus might help make up for the lack of raw power, especially for people who don’t play a lot of games. Even so, it’s tough to justify the $599 price point—and I have real concerns about the ability for this low-powered tablet to keep pace as future Android updates are released. It might be more appealing if on sale, or the slightly smaller Galaxy Tab S9 FE could provide a better balance of power and price at $449.

The Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ is meant to be the “everything tablet”. It does just about everything you would on a tablet with great proficiency. Do you want to watch content? Well, it has a gorgeous display and a powerful set of speakers. Are you going to use it for work? This tablet has great performance. Perhaps, you want to use it for gaming. Go ahead! It flies through whatever games you throw at it. The thing that strikes me about this tablet is just how much of a consistently good experience it gives me. Remember, this is the cheaper version of the Galaxy Tab S9+. For the price you’re paying, you’re getting a tablet that does it all, and it does it all well. If you’re not willing to pay $999 for the Galaxy Tab S9+, you won’t be sorry getting the FE edition. I highly recommend that you pick up this tablet.

As far as Apple versus Samsung? It’s still too hard for me to decide. There are definite perks to each, and I still use my iPad just as much as I use the S9 FE+, so deciding between the two is probably going to be more of a personal preference. There are probably some good reasons to choose one over the other, but at the end of the day, it comes down to price, functionality, and convenience. If you’re looking for a cheaper tablet that is great for most users, Samsung generally offers a slightly lower price point for a pretty great product. If you’re looking for an Apple-specific functionality, or it’s important for you that your devices connect easily within the Apple ecosystem (like via iCloud), then you should probably stick with an iPad. If you’re like me and can’t decide? Pick one, try it out, and see what you like best.

The Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ is an Android tablet with a bundled S Pen, IP68 water and dust protection, a good screen, and enough performance for most tasks. However, the tablet's platform will not provide a speed reserve for the future, as with the flagship models of the Tab S9 line.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ was an absolute joy to use and is, hands down, one of the better Android tablets on the market. Day-to-day performance was good enough for most users, and the battery life was quite good. The display is also fantastic, and the inclusion of the S Pen adds a lot of productivity options. The major question mark is how the Exynos 1380 chipset will hold up as the years pass and Android updates take their toll. Today, it's a snappy little chipset, but it sits below the performance of some of its direct competitors in this price range. If you want a large and vibrant screen for content consumption, to browse the web, or to just sit back and relax, and you aren’t worried about future performance, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ can do all of that in spades. It’s a fantastic tablet and a return to form for Samsung’s FE lineup. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ is a great all-around midrange tablet.

The affordable FE (fan edition) line of Samsung Galaxy Android tablets is back for the fall of 2023 with the Tab S9 FE and Tab S9 FE+, 10.9” and 12.4” tablets that are high quality yet considerably more affordable than the non-FE counterparts, the S9 and S9+. Both have bright IPS 90Hz displays, but only the smaller model is available with optional 5G. They’re S Pen capable and the pen in included. They’re also compatible with Samsung’s keyboard case and cover case for the Tab S9 family and run One UI, just like Samsung Galaxy phones. They have DeX support and will get years of OS and security updates. They compete with the iPad 10th gen, OnePlus Pad and Google Pixel Tablet.

Anyway, back to the price. I think generally, the price of this tablet is too high. Yeah, it’s a great tablet for what it sets out to do but for a mid-range tablet, it’s just too expensive. I think for the price of this tablet – it should be using an AMOLED screen instead. That would make the price justifiable. At the current state, I think the best time to get this tablet is during a discount. It’s still new so there aren’t any major discounts yet so be a little patient. Maybe during the 12.12 promotion is the time when Samsung will offer some discounts? I surely hope so.

My experience with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Tab S9 FE+ has been extraordinary. They have been my partners in both work and play, making my days just that little bit more exciting. Want a device that can be great for movies, mobile games or even music? Then you can't go wrong with the Galaxy Tab S9 FE series tablets. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ provides good value for those looking for multimedia consumption or as a creative tool. Understandably, it will need to cut some corners as it’s a Fan Edition product so it can keep costs low. It’s still worth considering, with prices starting from RM2,799, if you don’t want to spend too much on a tablet but if you’re a particularly heavy user, you might want to consider either the Tab S9, Tab S9+, or Tab S9 Ultra instead.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE Plus looks great and is definitely well-built, but the compromises the brand made to get it to this price point has made it difficult to recommend. While most people likely won’t care that much about the rear camera quality on a tablet, the flaws in its software are something that can’t be ignored. This could potentially be improved with future updates, but of course, you should only buy a product based on how it performs as it ships. Additionally, the substandard display panel and infuriatingly weak magnets for the S Pen are a constant reminder that this device is Samsung’s economic offering of sorts. And with a starting price of RM2,799 for the Wi-Fi only model, it’s not exactly in the affordable category either. My two cents: you’re likely better off getting a more powerful tablet at a similar price point or coughing up a bit more for an iPad.

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ offers a good deal more extra features than the previous Galaxy Tab S FE tablet but it’s a bit hard to justify the increase in price to RM3099, especially without any bundled keyboard case. At this price point, it’s already reaching entry-level laptop prices, and getting an additional Book Cover Keyboard case would be an extra RM500. If you need the extra security and the protection of an IP68 tablet and S Pen, then this is a very good tablet for you though. But, we would have liked it more for productivity if it came bundled with the Book Cover Keyboard case. However, if you’re still using the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE, we feel then there’s not much reason for you to upgrade.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE Plus holds its own as a reasonably priced workhorse tablet, offering a beautiful chassis that is just as pleasingly wrought as its higher end siblings while offering a fair to performance ratio, a large display and a superb user experience at a more modest price. It works well as a content consumption and light productivity device though additional official accessories don’t come cheap – in this role, its large screen and good battery life make it a delightful option to have though kitting it out for serious work like the optional keyboard case will cost a pretty penny.

Samsung Fan Edition or FE devices usually offer a few major features from the normal version but downgrade nearly everything else for a much better price. Priced from RM2799 this time around, the 12.4-inch 2K display, 8GB /12GB RAM, IP68 water and dust resistant chassis, IP68 Galaxy S Pen stylus seem to be the standout features of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ but there’s a number of other tech spec improvements as well.

In a vacuum, the Galaxy Tab S9 FE tablets are interesting options for those looking for a premium device at an affordable price. Both models offer a nice design and excellent build quality, include the handy S Pen, productivity features, and are excellent media consumption devices. However, while they are roughly in the same price category as the iPad 10 and the Pixel Tablet, their performance in more demanding tasks is noticeably lower. That difference can be especially noticed in graphic-intensive games, where image quality needs to be lowered significantly to offer playable frame rates. The Galaxy Tab S9 FE generation brings welcome upgrades over the previous Tab S7 FE (12.4-inch) and Tab S6 Lite (10.4-inch), with better displays, water resistance, and improved battery life. But even considering that, it is hard to recommend the 2023 Fan Edition models over the competition, unless you are truly invested in Samsung's ecosystem. In short, the review title may have already given away this conclusion.

Out of the box, the Galaxy Tab S9 FE Plus looks favourably specced compared to the competition though where it gets the edge is its provision of a bundled free S Pen stylus, Samsung’s solid 4 years of OS updates and 5 years of security update policy as well as the ability to use DeX mode on the tablet itself which adds to its utility as a general purpose workhorse. For the uninitiated, DeX mode enables users to reboot the tablet and enjoy a desktop-style interface along with the option to wirelessly cast the menu to a display or using a HDMI cable to enjoy a user experience akin to a PC. If you’re in the market for a new tablet, the Galaxy Tab S9 FE Plus makes up only a tiny sliver of your options. There are plenty of others, including both Android options and iPads, to choose from. After all, Samsung’s $599 base price puts the Galaxy Tab S9 FE Plus in contention with rivals above and below its price point. Here are just a few other tablets that might meet your needs:

If you're a fan of Samsung's Android customizations and you have other Samsung devices you can connect it with, the Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ is the Android tablet to get, offering similar functionality to the flagship Tab S9 for a lot less money. It isn't quite as powerful as the standard Tab S9, but the Tab S9+ FE has an appealing, high-quality build and more than enough performance for sending emails, playing games, and watching videos. Like most Android tablets, the Tab S9 FE+ is still not a laptop replacement, but considering its price, that's easy to forgive. Furthermore, Samsung's Dex mode and additional multitasking software make it a better productivity pick than the Pixel Tablet, and that earns it our Editors' Choice award for Android tablets. If you find the Tab S9+ FE too big or expensive, however, we recommend the slightly smaller and cheaper Tab S9 FE in equal measure.

The Galaxy Tab S9 FE Plus is an excellent tablet that stands out for its features and affordable price. It boasts a beautiful design, comes with an S Pen, and has a mid-range display that produces vibrant colors and high brightness. The speakers are fantastic, especially for a tablet. Performance-wise, it can handle most tasks with ease. However, the tablet’s large size and weight may be a drawback if you plan on carrying it around frequently. The tablet’s display is satisfactory but may not be ideal for everyone. The Galaxy Tab S9 FE Plus also suffers from compatibility issues with Android 13, which can cause some software-related problems. The Samsung DeX interface can also be challenging to use despite its improvements. Despite the drawbacks mentioned above, the Galaxy Tab S9 FE Plus is still a fantastic choice for anyone looking for an Android-based tablet, particularly a larger one from Samsung.
