Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition smartphone is a great add-on in the foldable lineup. It has a bigger screen, a slimmer body, and impressive camera features. But apart from this, the rest of the specs are identical to the Galaxy Z Fold 6. On top of that, the phone is currently exclusively in South Korea, and most likely released in China with rebranding. But as a foldable phone, Samsung offers exclusive multitasking features, a mesmerizing design layout, and a classic build. Not to forget, the rest of the perks offer an amazing user experience. Overall, the special edition isn’t a bad phone. Yet if you look for the competitor, you will find Vivo X Fold 3 Pro as an alternative. It has almost the same features at a slightly lower price.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 builds on the success of its predecessors with a more refined design, better displays, and solid performance, though the improvements still feel incremental for those already using a previous Z Fold phone. The flatter, lighter body and the enhanced cover display alone make the Z Fold 6 a far more practical device, while the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and efficient battery management make it a reliable workhorse for productivity-focused users. However, the lack of significant camera upgrades still limits this phone’s ability to keep up with other significantly less expensive flagships. For those looking to upgrade from older foldables or for power users who want one of the best multitasking experiences on a smartphone, the Z Fold 6 is a compelling choice, but it doesn’t exist in Samsung’s bubble anymore.

But that's not all. The two new Samsung Galaxy Z series foldable phones also have the latest OneUI with Galaxy AI. This makes the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 Samsung's first foldable phones with access to powerful AI features, which include Circle to Search, Note Assist, Interpreter Mode, and more. You can refer to our previous article on how these features work with the new devices. If you're interested, please refer to the Samsung Malaysia website for official details on the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6. Samsung is now offering an RM700 rebate for trade-ins, a 20% discount off the Galaxy Watch Ultra (when purchasing Galaxy Z Fold6), a 5% discount for the Shop app (for one order), and more. So, don't miss out!

With the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Samsung has taken another step closer to normalizing the foldable phone experience, but with the $100 price increase this year, you really have to consider its benefits -- especially when compared to other foldable phones -- before splurging. You should buy the Z Fold 6 if you want the best phone-to-tablet experience on the market right now, with a refined design that's sturdier, more durable, and lighter in the hand than ever. You should also consider Samsung's seven years of software and security support and a free screen repair, which are unavailable on competing devices from Google, OnePlus, and Motorola. Lastly, look into trade-in offers and discounts across retailers and carrier stores; there's a good chance you'll be able to knock off a few hundred dollars with the phone you already have.

Should you buy the Galaxy Fold 6? I don’t have a clear answer. In my opinion, the Fold 6 is the best smartphone with a flexible display. I note the significant improvement in display brightness, enhanced performance, a more pleasant and simpler design, and a thinner build. However, most importantly, it has increased water and dust resistance with an IP48 rating. Samsung surprised us by promising 7 years of system updates and enhanced the already complex One UI with additional AI features, some of which are very useful. On the other hand, it’s evident that Samsung has simply skipped some enhancements between generations. The cameras remain the same (except for the ultra-wide).

So, remember the whole conversation about a Galaxy Fold that can finally compete with the designs we've seen from Chinese manufacturers? Well, let's just say we've got some possible good and bad news. For the last couple of weeks we've seen some subtle hints that Samsung is working on yet another product launch that could finally address how competition is owning foldable design. At first we thought we'd get some sort of teaser at Galaxy Unpacked, if not a product, but that didn't happen. Reports claim it'll still happen this year, but under an interesting launch approach.

There's nothing necessarily wrong with the Galaxy Z Fold 6. If you prefer One UI and want to upgrade to a foldable, this phone marks a fine entry point to the space. But it's also a device that reeks of arrogance on Samsung's part. Sure, it's lighter and thinner than last generation, but those are practically the only upgrades you'll spot. Meanwhile, competition both global and stateside continues to grow, all while Samsung admits to struggling to convince non-foldable owners to, you know, buy a $1,900 smartphone. Like the last couple of Fold generations before it, this phone feels like yet another stepping stone towards some inevitable endpoint for this hardware, with just enough changes to advertise it as new and improved.

Yes, the phone is still quite bulky, the cover screen is still quite narrow and there is still nowhere to insert the S Pen when not in use like there is on the S24 Ultra. But if you have got a spare couple of grand to spend on a phone, this won’t disappoint at all (unless perhaps you are a reviewer or enthusiast who has tried out some of the more recent competition.) The overall user experience is slick and refined and enjoyable.

The latest Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 foldable phone is a remarkable piece of tech, which integrates the goodness of a foldable screen in a compact yet beautiful layout. There’s no doubt that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is a good phone. But after looking for a few years, Samsung has hit an innovation block where they just dumped foldable phones to appeal to their interested buyers. Nevertheless, it’s still a lucrative deal if you want to experience the foldable phone, especially compared to other brands. However, we come across some decent foldable smartphones, including the OnePlus Open. It unpacks several new upgrades without raising the prices too high. For years OnePlus has been known for providing advanced tech, while this new Foldable is a more affordable option, unlike Samsung. Still, every user has unique requirements and Galaxy Z fold 6 offers superior performance with the latest AI software support. So, make an informed decision based on your needs. The Samsung Z Fold 6 is an iterative update over the Samsung Z Fold 5. It is an evolution, not a revolution. It brings updates in most departments, especially durability and AI. Though it provides one of the best folding phone experiences with unmatched durability, it does not feel exciting. Overall, the Z Fold 6 is a safe update from Samsung with upgraded durability and AI goodness. The Z Fold 6 is the successor of the Z Fold 5, the most expensive flagship offering from Samsung. Even though it looks the same as the Z Fold 5, Samsung has introduced AI features to enhance its functionality.

Honestly, it can be hard to properly weigh foldable phones against other flagships. They're generally going to be more expensive, so you have to think whether its characteristics justify paying for the premium. If you love the larger screen, extra cover display or the ability to do office work on such a portable setup, then the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 could be for you. Of course, you could buy one just because you want something different from a regular smartphone. But in our opinion, the novelty factor wears out quickly. As for other foldable phones in Malaysia that can compete with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6? The upcoming HONOR Magic V3 is a good choice. We got an early sneak peek of it and can say its ultra-slim body could even convince long-time Galaxy Z Fold series fans to want to switch to it.

The Galaxy Z Fold6 does not come cheap, but if you are looking for a productivity-oriented foldable with really effective AI, this is as good as it gets. While something like the Vivo Fold can match it in the specs department, Samsung is a step ahead of it in terms of implementing AI tools and utilizing both screens. It has its weak points, most notable of which is that low-resolution external display and cameras that are good rather than great (the Vivo Fold has changed expectations in that regard), but in terms of overall performance and software (with its array of AI tools made in collaboration with Google), the latest Fold in the Galaxy family remains a formidable proposition. Its lead over the competition is not as great as it once was, but the Galaxy Z Fold6 remains the Fold to beat when it comes to the phone-tablet form factor!

On the surface level, it doesn't seem like Samsung really put much thought into the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Samsung continues to push the display performance of its foldable series of phones to the limits, with the Galaxy Z Fold6 earning a top spot in our foldable ranking so far thanks to strong results in video and color. The Z Fold6’s display stood out with its excellent video-watching experience, with the device reaching a top score in this attribute. Brightness was well-suited to most conditions, with screen colors maintaining their fidelity. The HDR10 rendering was also very smooth and showed nearly no frame mismatches. The Z Fold6 display’s luminance in outdoor conditions was the brightest when compared with other foldables, especially in sunlight, making the screen almost fully readable.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is the best foldable yet from the house of Samsung. It delivers on so many things it promises, and it is a boon for multitaskers. The displays are one of the best on the foldables I have used; performance is snappy, while software with AI features is a USP. The more time you spend with Fold 6, the more you will be a fan of the form factor - especially the use cases it offers, which feel like multiple devices are rolled into one. In a time when smartphone manufacturers are slowly getting bullish on AI features on their devices, Samsung can proudly boast that it has successfully integrated a bunch, and they work fine. It's a supremely capable foldable smartphone, but it may not outright beat other Android flagships, including the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The reason is simple: it's not meant for that.

But the sticker shock is a tough pill to swallow. Between minimal hardware changes and the lack of AI features unique to the device, there’s little value and incentive to make the jump. Those willing to unfold a load of notes can expect a top-notch investment, though it seems Samsung might have to tighten their “less is more” approach the next time, as more competition seeks to close the gap. Samsung’s foldable powerhouse is a highly competent refinement of its predecessor’s best parts, packing lightweight versatility and delightful performance. Unfortunately, the premium price tag is its biggest enemy.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 is absolutely a worthy successor to the Fold 5. It should be noted that the Arrow Lake-S CPU that Jaykihn is supposedly testing is a Qualification Sample (QS), and not an Engineering Sample (ES2). The difference between the two is that the latter has a lower maximum clock on its P-Cores, at 4.5GHz. Another thing that should be noted is that the next-gen processors will lack any form of hyperthreading. Supposing that this is true, it would signal a shift into Intel’s mindset; rather than chase the title of having the fastest processor on the market – the Core i9-13900KS had a dual-core boost of 6.0GHz, while the 14900KS was able to boost to 6.2GHz – it aims at ensuring stability and quality for its CPUs.

Samsung's new book-style foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 6, feels like a more polished version of its predecessor, thanks to minor design adjustments. On the software side, however, there have been significant changes to enhance the user experience, particularly with features tailored to the unique foldable form factor. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 could be among the best foldable smartphones based solely on its software. However, a smartphone's overall performance is judged on the sum of its specifications. How does the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 fare as a complete package?

Galaxy Z Fold 6 is priced starting at $1899. That’s $100 increase from last year, but in my mind, these hardware improvements are worth that alone. And remember, Samsung always has deals going on, so the chances of having to pay full price for this phone seem slim. Even today, you can snag free doubled storage and up to $1200 in trade-in savings. Not bad. As for a verdict, if a foldable phone is what you desire, then this would be a great choice. Samsung is six years deep into foldables, while competition like Google and OnePlus are still relative newcomers. This phone has amazing hardware with a great in-hand feel, good cameras, gorgeous displays, and 98% of the specs you’d want. I still would’ve liked to see 16GB RAM. Oh well.

So that’s all for my full review of the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. And if I had to summarize everything I feel about this phone in two words, I’d say it’s “tastefully boring”. Like… I see its appeal and I would never take it away from anyone, but I would also never stand in line for it. The Fold 6 is a perfectly fine foldable, a perfectly sophisticated and well-engineered machine that’s unfortunately just not that memorable. There’s so much Samsung could’ve done, there’s so much the competition has shown what’s capable of this form factor. But it’s a little sad to see how Samsung is still playing it safe and relying on its brand power more than anything. Reviewing Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 6 bendy phone one month later, after extensive camera testing, gaming, battery life scrutiny etc. If you're after a massive foldable smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is certainly one of the best known options. But it's no longer top dog, with the OnePlus Open, Vivo X3 Fold Pro and other big rivals. Not to mention Google's incoming Pixel 9 Pro Fold! Camera fans will find the Galaxy Z Fold 6 doesn't have Samsung's best optics slapped on, despite that high asking price. It can't compare to the S24 Ultra for night shots and video, although for most other situations this foldable is worthy. Battery life is another area where the Samsung Z Fold 6 doesn't hold up to rivals, and recharging is sadly slow as well.

If you haven’t used a foldable smartphone before, getting used to the new form factor takes a bit of time. But once you’ve made up your mind, available options for a book-style foldable include the Galaxy Z Fold6, the Vivo X Fold3 Pro (review), and last year’s OnePlus Open (review). The starting price for the Z Fold6 is Rs 1,64,999, the Vivo X Fold3 Pro starts at Rs 1,60,000, while the OnePlus Open is listed at Rs 1,39,998. When you’re spending that kind of money, I’d say that the difference in price doesn’t really matter.

It has been 6 years since we first saw the Galaxy Fold. The Galaxy Z Fold6 has certainly reached maturity. There’s not much else we wish it had. If there was, am sure it has yet to be developed an incorporated into foldables. For now, this is the best Samsung can offer in this category and that’s enough for me. Perhaps, the only thing we care all wishing for is that these foldables become more affordable just like all the other smartphones in the market. For now, they’re still in the “most premium” tier. Again, foldables such as the Galaxy Z Fold6 is still somewhat of a niche product and only those who find the appeal and afford the luxury of owning one will find the novelty a worthwhile investment.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is a powerful device with top-notch performance, premium design, and a host of innovative features. It’s lighter, has better screens, a faster chip, and includes fun AI capabilities. While the camera isn’t at the level of Samsung’s Ultra series, it’s more than adequate for capturing memories. The slow charging speed is a drawback, but the overall battery performance is satisfactory. The price may feel a bit high, especially considering the competition. In my view, the Z Fold 6 is designed for corporate users and those who value a flagship, stylish device. If you are someone who needs to handle multiple software and data-related tasks on the go, without having to open a laptop, or if you simply love evolving and fancy tech like foldables, then the Z Fold 6 is for you.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 can best be described as an OLED TV that will fit into your pocket. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 price in India starts at Rs. 1,64,999, and the top-end variant costs Rs. 2,00,999, making it quite a premium yet fragile investment. Although it's a significant price, it reflects the quality, features, and reliability you're getting. Even with a blindfold, you can feel how premium the device is. It seems that the device is aimed at tech enthusiasts who wish to try the latest advancements, but it's also a good pick for someone who desires more in the flagship segment. More refinement, a larger display, sleek design, powerful camera, premium appeal, and so on. Overall, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is a remarkable device when compared to its competitors. However, with a brand like Samsung, there are expectations to deliver more. The new foldable is practical and thoughtfully designed. If you're intrigued by the idea of a foldable phone and can handle the price tag, the Z Fold 6 is definitely worth considering.

Adding it all up, our verdict on Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold6 echoes what we wrote in our Z Fold5 review last year. In its own right, the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 is an extremely competent book-style folding phone. We really appreciate the improved design, brighter screens, and speedy new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. But looking at the bigger picture, it’s clear that the Z Fold6 is more of an iterative device faced with mounting competition. For $100 more than before, we expected better cameras, larger batteries, and faster charging – especially when the Z Fold6 is no longer the only sheriff in town. One year in, the OnePlus Open (currently $1399) remains an outstanding book-style folding handset, and – based on the many leaks and Google's own tease – the upcoming Pixel 9 Pro Fold (August 13) promises to give the Z Fold6 a run for its money as well.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is like carrying two gadgets in one. You get a beefy 6.3-inch smartphone that you can unfold into a slim and stunning tablet. And despite this versatility, it doesn’t feel like you’re hauling around two devices, thanks to its manageable size and weight. This is undoubtedly one of the top foldable phones available. While there are less expensive options, few can match the Z Fold 6 in terms of design, performance, and AI capabilities. If you’re looking for a true 2-in-1 device, this might be the best option out there. Unlike some companies that are still considering bringing AI to their foldable sometime in the future, Samsung is already delivering a rather unique experience, with Galaxy AI on the Z Fold 6, which is not only impressive but also genuinely useful.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 takes a nip-and-tuck approach to the series' design, delivering a marginally different wider and less tall take on the foldable. It's an improvement which is also thinner and lighter as a result, but there's no camera or tangible battery improvement this time around. You'll have to be on board with the narrow cover display approach to appreciate this Samsung, however, as many competitors offer bigger – which some prospective buyers may see as 'better'. Nonetheless, Samsung still shows its class – the Z Fold 6 is an accomplished and exciting foldable with the software being one of its big wins, especially for those who pay extra to embrace the S Pen stylus' joys.

The Z Fold 6 is the most refined folder yet, and another small step towards the holy grail of being the same as a regular phone when closed but with a tablet on the inside. It is still necessarily a bit thick, but it is just a few grams heavier than Samsung’s top regular phone, the S24 Ultra, and the outside screen is now the same width as a small phone such as the iPhone 13 mini. The inside screen is super-bright and smooth, matching top non-folding devices for quality. The crease in the middle is still present but it doesn’t get in the way of usage. The materials needed to make the screen fold are still too soft for anything less than careful use and repairs are very expensive if the worst does happen.

Most people who are in the market for a new phone — even most people reading a phone review on an Android blog — should not buy the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. Samsung has refined the design of its class-defining full-sized foldable phone, with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 coming in lighter and stronger than ever before. It’s also cranked the brightness of its displays up, both of which remain lovely to behold. However, it would have been nice to see more advancements elsewhere, with a familiar (if capable) camera system perhaps the biggest disappointment, as well as battery life that if anything has gotten a little worse. While it’s easier to use as a ‘normal’ phone than ever, Samsung’s choice of a tall and thin external display remains questionable when the OnePlus Open and Pixel Fold have demonstrated a preferable alternative. All this and Samsung is asking for even more money, without so much as a bundled S Pen to show for it. With all that said, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 remains the go to full-sized foldable on the market.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 managed to make a great foldable smartphone even better, but the price is also even further out of reach for a lot of consumers. While it had some notable improvements and I do like the fact that it has a similar look to the S24 Ultra, I believe it’s overdue for a major design overhaul in terms of real estate and screen size. Alternatively, introduce the bigger version as a whole new entry while keeping this shape and form as the “more affordable” fold.

As the first Samsung foldable device to incorporate AI, it provides an unprecedented experience to users through a series of innovative AI functions. These functions improve users’ work efficiency and make artistic creation accessible, enriching their daily lives and entertainment. The Smart Portrait function uses AI technology to convert portrait photos into various artistic styles, adding fun and personalization to photography. The circle-and-search function simplifies the search process, while AI translation and graffiti creation broaden the user’s creative space, making artistic creation accessible. While further reducing weight and thinning, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 folds seamlessly, hovers at multiple angles, and has strong damping with no rebound.

The Galaxy Z Fold6 is Samsung’s latest device with a foldable form factor in the Ultra Premium segment. Previous generations of Galaxy Z Fold devices lagged slightly behind their Samsung Galaxy S-series counterparts in terms of camera performance. With this latest model, the South Korean manufacturer has made an effort to close the gap by adding a 3x optical tele-zoom camera to the mix. In the DXOMARK Camera tests, the Z Fold6 did well for a foldable device, with good performances in the photo and video categories. However, at its price point the best conventional, non-foldable smartphones still offer better still image and video quality.

I’m not really sure, and I’m not 100% certain Samsung knows, either. That said, people who travel a lot for work, students who want to multitask on their phones, and people who like neat gadgets will love it. The very, very expensive price point will limit the audience significantly. But it’s a great phone, which can do so much, and the people who can make the most of it won’t know how they ever lived without it. I’ve certainly been a Fold devotee for years because of the multitasking abilities, and the sheer novelty of it all.

Despite all the AI, I still think most people opt for the Samsung Fold series for the flawless large screen and extra-ordinarily performance. On that front, Samsung has kept the Fold6 ahead of the competition, also because this is the only one that works with a stylus. The AI features are great additions, but I would have been happier if Samsung could have used the AI to bring significant improvements to the UI understanding of the context and personality of its user. Still, even with all the competition that’s come into the segment, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 shows that it has the advantage of having made foldables for more years than any of the competition. I wonder why Samsung does not push this more as a business phone, the successor to the Note series and maybe even the BlackBerry. Yes, is a smaller audience to tap, but it might be a more appreciative audience for this phone.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 leaves me with mixed feelings. On one hand, it’s the best big-screen foldable that Samsung has produced to date. It has a level of polish that outclasses anything that came before it and it’s a delight to live with. The software experience and support terms are among the best around, too. On the other hand, aside from a refined design, the hardware is largely unchanged from the Z Fold 5. When you combine that with a price hike, it starts to look less appealing. I certainly can’t imagine Z Fold 5 owners rushing to upgrade, and if you’re a savvy shopper, you might want to consider buying the older model instead. The biggest improvements with this version are software-based, and Samsung has all but confirmed the Z Fold 4 and 5 will be getting the same features in a future update.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is a bold reimagining of Samsung’s flagship foldable smartphone. It has a cleaner design that looks and feels better in the hand. The flexible handset is also more durable thanks to upgrades in the hinge and on the display. The crease is still there but less noticeable than ever. And that minor nit is worth it for a truly versatile device. Galaxy AI is strong and impressive, though it’s still more fun than useful. Photography is good, though mostly due to a software upgrade. Nothing presents a greater hurdle here than price, but you can probably find a deal that lowers that price pain threshold significantly.

Open or closed, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is very good indeed. The new dimensions make it completely usable with almost no caveats when the phone is closed, and with the screen open, its iPad mini-like size means I reach for my tablet or laptop less. It’s a dual-use smartphone that, depending on your own personal requirements, could truly be your one-and-only mobile device. The problem is the same can almost be said for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5. We’re still at the point where no foldable is dull, but it is a minimal update compared to the last, which was itself a minimal update, despite the hardware alterations once again making it a better phone to use and own. It’s also still really expensive, even more so this year, and the slow charging, shortish battery life, and strong-but-not-the-best spec make it even harder to justify that amount of money.

Just because it’s not a wise upgrade doesn’t mean it’s not a good phone. Samsung is still at the top of the game, with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 flexing upon all other Android phone makers through its physical construction and software polish. In the generative AI arena, Only Google has something powerful enough to trounce Galaxy AI. The rivals' foldables are also not IP48 water-and-dust resistant. For now, Samsung holds firm with a complete package — inside and out, folded and unfolded, if you can stomach the higher price point.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 offers impressive AI features in a lighter, thinner design along with durability improvements. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 may not have the best camera in a foldable and it may lack in many areas. On top of that, we may have been getting the same thing over the years with a bit of refinement here and there, but the fact remains. When it comes to refinement and trust, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 remains on top. At a massive Unpacked event in Paris, Samsung finally took the wraps off of the Galaxy Z Fold6 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6. Now, for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6, this year was important because this year, the Galaxy Z Fold6 has been launched amid tight competition from the likes of Vivo and OnePlus, where both these manufacturers have pushed the envelope a little bit in terms of how good foldable smartphones can be.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is packed with great features and this tips and tricks guide will show some of the best & hidden ones. Here's how to get started with your Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, from the AI tools and photo editing to my favourite OneUI 6.1 and camera bits. My full review of this foldable phone is coming next week, but first here's an in-depth look at the software. We start with some basic tips on how to customise the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and use the dock and multi-tasking. Then we shift onto those juicy AI features which Samsung has slathered on, including circle to search, live translation and more. OneUI 6.1 is packed with great tools, so here's a look at some of the best on the Samsung Z Fold 6. Then we finish with a squint at this foldable phone's camera and how to take selfies with the main shooters. Last up, a glance at the photo editing abilities of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. This includes more AI shenanigans of course, to turn you into a cartoon, add extra flair to your photos etc.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 doesn't offer many big upgrades. Galaxy AI is arguably the most attractive feature, but that will cease to be the case once One UI 6.1.1 brings the new features to existing models. That makes it easy to say who this phone is for. If you are thinking of upgrading from a Galaxy Z Fold 4 or Galaxy Z Fold 5, you would only be wasting money unless you get a good trade-in deal. Even Galaxy Z Fold 3 owners may not feel like it is enough of an upgrade. But for anyone buying a Samsung foldable for the first time or coming from the first two Z Folds, the Fold 6 is a fantastic phone, especially if you do things that take advantage of large displays. It has everything that made previous Folds so good and improves or fixes some of the not-so-good aspects. Thanks to the promise of seven years of software updates, it is also the most future-proof model yet.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 foldable smartphone (seen here in Pink) can be purchased from the Samsung store online for $1,899.99 with 256GB internal storage — or if you're early enough, you'll get a "double storage" offer that gives you the 512GB version for the same price as the lesser device: $1,899.99. Or you can ramp all the way up to the 1TB internal storage size version for $2259.99 (on sale when this review is set to be published at the tail end of July 2024 for $2,019.99). I'd complain about the Z Fold 6 being $100 more expensive than the starting price of the Z Fold 5, but once you reach this far above $1k, it's difficult to imagine considering a 5.5% price bump to be particularly significant to those that would purchase this device.

Don’t get me wrong. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is an amazing gadget. The Fold has won a faithful following — and rightfully so. Multitasking on the big screen is effortless, build quality is as good as foldables get, and the battery reliably lasts a day or more. Heck, you can plug the whole dang thing into a display and use it like a computer. Samsung pioneered the foldable phone, but now it’s stubbornly iterating on that original concept — and it feels like the time for iteration is over. The company seems committed to its current long and narrow template rather than adopting a wider format. Personally, I think the OnePlus Open is the ideal foldable design, and it’s about halfway between the tall and skinny Z Fold 6 and the wide and short Google Pixel Fold.

Would I recommend you buy the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 for $1,900? No. I love the concept of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. It's a great smartphone to experience content. I love using it for work, taking notes, and multi-tasking as Samsung excels in those departments. However, I don't want to reward Samsung for twiddling its thumbs for the last three years, simply because no one else can compete with it. The camera department hasn't evolved in two years. Performance still lags behind other, less expensive high-end smartphones. The same goes for the charging speed. As for the design, frankly, it hasn't evolved enough in my opinion. I tear my hair out when I see some reviews devote three paragraphs to the fact that the Z Fold 6 is 14 grams lighter. Isn't that insane? Yes, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is the best foldable smartphone on the market, there is no question about it.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is Samsung's most comprehensively thought-out foldable to date. The cleaner, more pro design looks fantastic. It's comfortable to hold and pocket and is far more versatile than your average phone. It's thinner with a less noticeable crease, and that's a major bonus. So is the baked-in Galaxy AI, which is not always useful, but can be tremendous fun. The cameras could be better, but I still like the images they capture. The price may be my single biggest sticking point, but you may want to hunt for good deals because the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is so worth it.

There are a couple of things I'm going to save for the full review, such as the camera along with diving deeper into performance and battery life. With performance, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy performs just as well as you'd suspect. The Fold 6 is fast and snappy, as I have yet to run into any game-breaking slow-downs, save for when I'm trying to emulate Switch games. But again, more on that in the full review. Although I talked about a lot here, there's still so much more that I want to cover, such as Samsung DeX, the cameras, and gaming. Even still, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 has managed to surprise and impress, despite me having basically written it off before Samsung announced it. I don't know what else I'll find in my testing, but be sure to reach out if there's something specific you would like to see covered.

Despite widespread skepticism following a tumultuous launch, it only took two generations for Samsung’s Galaxy Fold to demonstrate its value to power users, and three generations to solidify itself as the Galaxy Note for a new era: an expensive but extremely powerful pocket PC for a new generation of "mobile accomplishers." But here's the problem: Samsung saw that success ... and ... milked it. The Galaxy Fold 4 was a relatively minor upgrade to the Fold 3, and the fifth iteration was so tame, so uninspired, that even I, the foldable fanatic ... skipped covering it.

For me, it’s always hard telling someone whether they should buy a phone that costs $1,899. That’s a lot of money to spend on a phone. I will say, however, if this is your first foldable and you can get a good deal with trade-ins and other promos, then yes definitely switch to the Galaxy Z Fold 6. If you have a Galaxy Z Fold 5, I don’t think it’s worth switching yet. Even though Samsung is offering $1,500 trade-in credit for it. I feel that foldables are still mostly niche products. Because not everyone wants to carry a phone that unfolds into a phone in their pocket all the time. But heavy users like myself love products like this because you have a 7.6-inch screen in your pocket to use for navigation, seeing desktop versions of websites, and much more.

As for the question of should you buy the Galaxy Z Fold6 or not, this depends on your personal preference. I personally still think that this form factor is unique. We can use the cover display to do quick replies and whatnot with just one hand, and the unfold it into a bigger display to do more serious things or just watch videos. Samsung’s One UI complements and synergizes with the form factor, making it a very holistic experience. Yes, it’s not perfect as many apps still do not scale properly for the Z Fold6, but there are many other apps that are adapting to this interface. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 reviewSamsung Galaxy Z Fold6 review I still think that the Z Fold6’s new boxy design is a plus point, but everything under the hood is pretty incremental compared to the previous generation. There's no denying that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is an impressive piece of hardware. I was taken with the Galaxy Z Fold 6's lightweight build and elegant design from the moment I picked it up, and I'm delighted to see that the crease isn't as distracting as it used to be. By raising the Galaxy Z Fold's price, it feels like Samsung is giving up on trying to make book-style foldables mainstream. The company clearly sees the Z Fold as a premium device that customers will be willing to pay top dollar for, and it seems content to continue in that direction rather than making the Z Fold more accessible. For that higher price, I'd like to see more unique software features made just for the Galaxy Z Fold and improvements to charging speeds and battery life.

But it feels like after all this time sitting fat and happy on its throne, Samsung has a diminished hunger for total domination.

Considering that Galaxy AI has already come to last year’s Samsung foldables, I’m not counting that as a reason for people to fork out on the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The refinement of the design and generally tighter build are both positives but I remain unconvinced that they warrant the extra £50 – on top of what was already an exorbitant price tag. I know that it sounds like I’ve already written the Galaxy Z Fold 6 off but we’ll reserve final judgement for the full review. Display testing, performance benchmarks, camera samples and battery life results may well end up being so impressive that they claw back a positive review. After this first hands-on, however, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 feels like Samsung is asking too much and delivering too little.

Is the Galaxy Z Fold6 the new global poster child for book-style foldables? Almost certainly. Performance is as good as it gets in foldable land and productivity is still unmatched, thanks to S Pen support and some clever AI features. But I think it earns that status more because of the brand making it than the hardware inside. If the Fold6 wore something other than a Samsung logo, I’d be tempted to call it an also-ran. Rivals have it licked for slim dimensions, battery life, charging speeds, and camera sensors that get close to the best non-folding flagships. All you’re getting here is a more powerful chipset, slightly neater design, and some small but welcome improvements to each screen. For an $1800/£1800 gadget, I’m not sure that’s good enough.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 remains a tempting book-style foldable, with a refreshed design with sharp corners and flat edges that help it stand out from the crowd, and a thinner and lighter build brings it in line with the foldable competition too. It’s also a segment leader in terms of performance from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, and with a whopping seven years of OS upgrades guaranteed, the Z Fold 6 will see you through to Android 21. You can’t say that about any other book-style foldable available right now. So yes, there’s a lot to love about this year’s foldable, but equally, Samsung is beginning to lag behind the increased foldable competition in key areas.

The lack of real competition isn't helping the Galaxy Z Fold get better faster - Samsung is enjoying a rather trouble-free position in the large foldable space, and it's showing. The Galaxy Z Fold6 has the same cameras as the Fold4 from two years ago, and that's not a good look, alright as they may be. The slow charging is a long-standing issue of the Galaxy roster, and instead of improving on it, the latest model is somehow even slower. The cover display is inching towards usable size and proportions, but it's not entirely there yet and is taking its sweet time. The crease on the inside isn't too bothersome, but it's still more pronounced than essentially anything else in the foldable space.

With the help of S Pen, Sketch to Image was able to use Galaxy AI to replace a gnarly doodle from our Notes app into four different art styles, each offering alternative designs to choose from. While it's not going to win us any reputable awards (it's AI art, after all), Sketch to Image worked swiftly at giving us the necessary visuals to help improve our note-taking quality. The Galaxy Z Flip and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 share the same processor, specs and even the camera systems are so similar (with the exception of the zoom camera that you only get on the Fold). So the fundamental Samsung experience is definitely similar. The main difference have everything to do with the form factor. The big, book-style Galaxy Fold 6 is great for productivity and multitasking, as you can have three windows open and a floating window, plus it's easier to add AI on top of that. The Flip 6, on the other hand, has evolved but because of its smaller size, it is not so much about productivity as it is about delivering a fast experience in a flip form factor, and we know that it's especially loved amongst the ladies too.

Coming to the Flip 6, the clamshell-style foldable from Samsung gets some major bumps this year. Starting with the main camera, the Flip 6 gets a 50-megapixel primary sensor and a larger 4,000mAh battery compared to 3,700mAh on the Flip 5. Both the new foldable get IP48 water resistance. The crease on the Flip 6 is almost invisible, as, during hands-on time with the device, we scrolled through the device and could barely notice the crease. The display seems decent, and the upgraded camera is excellent for the Flip 6.

Samsung upgraded the cameras and battery on the Z Flip 6, while bringing a slew of Galaxy AI features to both its foldables this year. On the Z Fold 6, it tweaked the displays' brightness and bezels, improved the ultrawide camera and threw in a vapor cooling system. But it seems like again, the biggest changes to the Z Fold 6 might be in its AI features. Senior reporter Sam Rutherford took a closer look at what's coming to Samsung's latest generation of foldable

That Galaxy Z Fold 6 has just been released and I had early hands-on time to give you guys my first impressions. In this video, I cover the upgrades, new features, and compare it to the Fold 5, Fold 4 and Fold 3 to let you know if it's worth the upgrade.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 delivers a ton of AI features inside a slimmer and lighter design. You can do live translations with the dual displays, turn your S Pen doodles into beautiful art with Sketch to Image and generate a comic strip version of yourself with Portrait Studio. But there’s not many hardware improvements, and Samsung is charging $100 more for the new Fold. Here’s a breakdown of the price, key specs, colors and our hands-on impressions.

Based on my short hands-on time, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 seems better than its predecessor, the Z Fold 5, in almost every way. Design-wise it feels like a big leap forward – this now feels like a 'normal' phone that just happens to split open to reveal a big main-screen wonder. The AI features look genuinely useful, but on the downside there's not much that's new in the cameras department, and the price remains a barrier to entry for many.

Generally speaking, I'm getting bored of phones with iterative upgrades from one generation to the next, but Samsung makes mostly the right moves with the Galaxy Z Fold 6. I appreciate the thinner and lighter design, the (slightly) wider cover display and brighter main 7.6-inch screen. I also appreciate the AI features on board the Z Fold 6 for productivity and entertainment, even if some feel a bit gimmicky. And while it will take some time to test, the durability improvements are welcome.

Will the Galaxy Z Fold 6 put Samsung back at the top of the foldable category over excellent rivals like the OnePlus Open? It’s too early to say for sure, but this certainly feels like a bigger upgrade than last year. The changes to the footprint of the device are small, yet should make the Z Fold 6 more pleasant to use whether it’s folded or unfolded.

Like the Flip 6, the latest Fold comes with seven years of operating system and security updates. Samsung believes you should get decent use out of the foldable phone, backing the use of Armor Aluminium and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 to improve its durability. Based on past iterations, the Fold is a device with a specific productivity niche. Last year’s Fold 5 impressed us, and the claim of improved durability addresses previous complaints levelled at the form factor.

We enjoyed our time with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and that, in itself, is usually a good sign. It's a good deal more expensive than the standard Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, and we'll concede now that nearly £2000 is a lot to spend on a smartphone – even one that can do all of the fancy things of which the Fold is capable. If it can deliver on its many promises, though, the signs are good. AI powers combined with some high-end internal hardware and that mighty display certainly coalesce to create a tempting proposition and, while we always need more time with any product to appreciate truly its pros and problems, our initial impressions were of a smartphone that has its sights set on the very top of the pile.

It's kind of hard to innovate each and every year and we've kind of gotten used to phones bringing more or less incremental upgrades. This is definitely the case with the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6. Still, there are some nice little additions to the mix and tweaks here and there this year. We like the design refinement on both phones. The Z Fold6 has an improved and more natural aspect ratio on the cover display and the Z Flip6, is now closer than ever to the mainstream Galaxy S line with a bigger battery and better main camera.

Every summer, Samsung's Unpacked event brings the latest iteration of the company’s foldable devices, smartwatches, and earbuds. This year, it’s all about AI and its integration with the Galaxy Z series. Here’s everything announced at Samsung Unpacked 2024. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 joins Samsung’s foldable lineup, mirroring the boxy flattened design of the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The device sports the same 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display with a resolution of 2160 x 1856 and a 6.3-inch cover display, which both support 120Hz. The main difference here is that both displays lose the rounded corners found in previous Z Fold phones.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 costs $2,564 CAD, an increase from the Z Fold 5, which costs $2,399. At face value, even with all the upgrades, I can’t say whether the Z Fold 6 is worth the price increase, but I’m interested in finding out. The Z Flip 6 also increased to $1,462.99 from $1,299. Again, I can’t say if this price increase is worth it without putting the handset through its paces, but considering it mostly received quality-of-life updates, I doubt it. I love foldable smartphones, so I will spend a lot of time with both handsets, especially the Z Fold 6. I’m curious to see whether the wider screen is enough to make it stand out against the OnePlus Open. I would also like to see if the Z Flip 6 can compete against the Moto Razr+.

Outside of a revamped look that makes the Galaxy Z Fold6 boxier, lighter, and, slimmer, it is more of an iterative upgrade over the Galaxy Z Fold5–unless having a solid software update commitment is a big must-have for you given its hefty asking price.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is Sammy's latest 2024 full-sized foldable phone, and this hands-on review and comparison shows what's upgraded vs the Fold 5. A lot of the hardware including Samsung's camera tech remains the same for the Galaxy Z Fold 6, so will fresh AI features be enough to justify that high UK price? The Unpacked launch has just finished and anyone expecting major evolution from the Samsung Z Fold 6 will likely be disappointed. This is a gentle upgrade vs the 5, sticking with the same optics and battery tech.

Samsung might need to re-think the name of its events because today was anything but Unpacked. We're here in Paris for a very "Packed" event where we didn't just get two foldables. Let's just say we got that, plus two smartwatches, two new sets of earbuds and a ring. And listen, if there was one more thing at the end of the presentation, I'll tell you know we didn't know about it.

We are definitely expecting a high-quality foldable from Samsung this year. The competition has become fierce, so you can say there's some pressure riding on the Z Fold 6 release. If the design makes it more pocketable, if there are no issues with thermals, and if the camera performance is touched up a bit — we think it will be a very, very solid entry in the foldable space.
