Reviews for the Sony Xperia L2
CES novelty in review. Presented by Sony at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, the Sony Xperia L2 is currently the Japanese manufacturer's cheapest smartphone. The €249 (~$307; RRP) device, which has a fingerprint scanner and runs Android 7.1.1, is now available in Germany. Find out how the Xperia L2 fares in our tests.

The Sony Xperia L2 is built to a price and naturally, this brings a few compromises, one of which is made with the camera. If you have more than a passing interest in photography, then the L2 is not for you, but if you only want to take the odd image, perhaps with the intention of viewing it on your smartphone screen, its relatively affordable price makes it an attractive option.

At R3 500 the Xperia L2 is one of the cheaper options on the local mid-range market, ticking all the required boxes of such a device. For those wanting bang for their buck, this offering certainly gets the job done. If, however, you're on the lookout for something that stands out from the swathe of blocky Android phones, then the L2 is not it, boiling down to whether you want a cookie cutter-esque phone or one that has a bit more character to it.

The Sony Xperia L2 isn't a bad phone, but it comes up short against the competition in virtually every area, from its clunky plastic design to its sub-par display resolution and underwhelming performance.

The Xperia L2 faces some seriously stiff competition around the £200 price point, from the likes of Honor and Motorola. Thankfully Sony’s mobile is a solid all-round experience, boasting particularly strong battery life and some neat bonus features. However, the competition matches or betters this device in many areas also, especially when it comes to design.

The Xperia L2 seemed to have it all - large display, generous battery, promising cameras, fingerprint sensor, and most importantly a Sony badge. In our testing, it turned out that the display wasn't as bright as last year's, battery life is good, but still hampered by an old and inefficient chipset, and image quality was meh at best. The fingerprint reader and brand name we can't complain about.

All that said, if you are looking for a low-cost, entry-level phone, be it a Sony or not, it looks like the Xperia L2 could be it, or at least until better options come out on the market in a few months.

If Sony prices the Xperia L2 right, it could be a decent first phone or a good choice if you just need something basic. The decent amount of RAM and storage is nice, but the camera might not be the best.

Sony's wasting no time kicking off the year 2018 - CES in January marks the announcement of the Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra midrangers, plus an L2 lower down the ranks. After the brief time we got to spend with a few early units of the three models, you can label us excited.

这是比较大的智能手机尺寸,也十分常见。
大尺寸可以让屏幕有更高的分辨率。因而例如字体等的细节将会更丰富。不过另一方面,小屏幕的功耗会较低,而设备也会更轻盈小巧,售价更低。
