紧凑坚固但不再高端。 索尼今年也继续推出了旗舰机型的Compact版。不过,这台尺寸较小的设备这次搭载了较慢的硬件。我们的评测将会告诉你这个改变是否会带来问题。

Sony's X Compact is the best-looking yet in the small range. However, the quest to attract more eyes brought about a few too many sacrifices. Compared to the Z5 Compact, it's a slightly underpowered and fragile offering.

Having recently told you about the larger Xperia XZ here a chance to put the smaller sibling through its paces, like the larger offering both were supplied by Vodafone and with this I got the chance to check their coverage not only in England but also Scotland.

When we are talking about Android smartphones, it is difficult to find models with screen size less than 5 inches as the 5.5-inch diagonal is growing ever more popular. We believe that there certainly is a group of users who still prefer more compact devices. These who provide not only comfortable grip with one hand but also the ability to easily operate with this very hand. Usually, when we are discussing a compact smartphone it’s most likely a budget offer. Xperia X Compact, however, is something different.

Despite proving solid in all departments, the X compact has arrived a little late on the scene. It's no fault of the phone, however, but simply a fact that it was released alongside the XZ flagship and is not specced in a similar fashion, as has been the trend for previous versions of Xperia compact devices, like the Z1 and Z1 Compact. As such, instead of users hoping for a smaller version of the XZ top of the range offering, what they actually have is a smaller version of the mid-range X with an improved camera.

To wrap things up, the Sony Xperia X Compact is a great small smartphone. If you look beyond the specs sheet, this is one of the best small phones you can buy. It has a capable camera that, in good light, would capture photos with unrivaled detail. It's got a top build quality, an excellent screen, a snappy, well-placed fingerprint reader, stereo speakers and a solid processor.

There’s simply no meaningful competition for Sony or the Xperia X Compact right now. They’re king. If you want a “flagship” compact Android phone, your hands are tied because this is really your only real option right now. So either you get something that has a larger screen or prepare to pony up for the X Compact.

The hardware keeps the Sony Xperia X Compact out of the flagship space, but it’s still one of the best devices smaller than five inches on the market. Its long-lasting battery deserves the most praise, and we also like its modern design, attractive display, and decent performance.

Sony's Xperia X Compact is a small phone with an excellent camera, but it lacks some creature comforts, like waterproofing and, in the US, a fingerprint sensor.

Whether the Sony Xperia X Compact is truly a successor to the previous Xperia Z5 Compact is a very tricky question. The new device does bring in a new appealing design that feels more comfortable to hold, faster fingerprint scanning, better cameras that produce cleaner images, and amazing predictive autofocusing with 5-axis stabilization for videos. Despite having a less powerful processor, the performance of the device is also good.

The Sony Xperia X Compact is far from the worst Android phone I've used this year, even if it is one of the ugliest. If you want an Android phone with a display size smaller than 5 inches then it’s probably your only choice. Widen your horizons, however, and there are better choices out there.

The Sony Xperia X Compact is an odd little smartphone. On the one hand its build quality, lack of waterproofing and lack of a standout feature make it harder to recommend compared to the older Xperia Z5 Compact. However, if you want a sub-5in Android smartphone with excellent battery life it’s the best current option out there. For all its flaws, we also kept coming back to the phone largely due to its sheer portability. Just don’t buy the blue one.

Still, $500 is a lot to pay for a phone whose camera doesn't perform as well in low light as Sony promises. It's also not as speedy as phones that are cheaper. Overall, we prefer the Honor 8 and OnePlus 3, both of which cost $100 less than the compact Xperia. But if you value battery life in a compact design, Sony's latest phone may fit the bill.

The Sony Xperia X Compact is a capable midrange phone with a good camera, but at $500, it's priced higher than most of its competition, including our Editors' Choice for compact phones, the Apple iPhone SE. For $100 less the SE gets you a more powerful processor, a fingerprint scanner, and Apple's superior app ecosystem. If Apple is out the question, the $400 ZTE Axon 7 also gets you a faster processor and a fingerprint sensor, as well as a much sharper display. But it's significantly larger than the X Compact, and not ideal for one-handed use. That makes the X Compact one of the best compact Android phones you can buy, though you'll get a lot more bang for your buck by going larger.

Equally, though, the X Compact is a disappointment in other areas. It’s nowhere near as nice a thing as the Z5 Compact, it’s not as quick and it isn’t water-resistant, either. All things told, I still prefer the Z5 Compact, even more so now that the two phones are now on sale for around the same price.

Sony’s Xperia X Compact isn’t much of an evolution over last year’s Xperia Z5 Compact, offering up pretty much the same performance and battery life while also stripping away water resistance and 4K video recording. Considering it’s about the same price, that means existing owners have no need to upgrade.

The Xperia X Compact is a great phone, and if you choose to buy one, you certainly won’t be disappointed. However, without a fingerprint sensor (with the US version), or features like dust and water resistance, the $500 price tag is hard to accept, just for the convenience that its size offers. If you are looking for the best value for money, this phone isn’t the one to get, but if you just want a compact phone that doesn’t compromise a whole lot, that’s when you might find this device to be worth every penny.

The Xperia X Compact gives you everything you need in terms of screen, performance, battery life — plus a few nice additions like stereo speakers, a slick software experience and Sony's latest camera technology. But this isn't simply a flagship-level phone in a smaller size: you're getting a plastic phone that's also missing a fingerprint sensor and waterproofing. So for as great as the X Compact is, it sits in an odd area — offering you less than other phones, but still commanding a $499 price. You really have to want a small phone to spend that much on the X Compact.

As far as the competition goes, the X Compact is really in a niche of its own right now. There's the cheaper but similarly sized Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016), which has a 4.7” display, a fancier styling, decent camera, and fine battery life, though considerably less-potent hardware. Looking away from Android, the 4.7” iPhone 6 can be found at a similar price point today, and can actually get you much more phone for the money. In the X Compact's $450-$500 range, however, there is little in Android's small-and-strong category but its predecessor, the Z5 Compact, which happens to be a more powerful handset, at a lower price right now.

If you want the compact version of the Xperia X Compact review, here it goes. Sony hasn't given up on the concept of high-powered minis, just toned it down a notch. A few signature features have gone missing, yes, but then again so have the rivals in this admittedly niche category. Price has been adjusted accordingly too, and for those who still find it steep a few months of patience could well be worth it.

The Xperia X Compact will be available in the US starting September 25. Pricing has not yet been announced, but the lesser specs in play here will be a lot easier to swallow if they come at a significantly reduced price. The Sony Xperia X Compact is over-shadowed by the devices that have come before it carrying the same name. The Compact was once the de facto choice for those wanting a smaller device that doesn't compromise on the power it offers, for flagship performance.

From what we've seen so far, the Xperia X Compact looks set to be the best miniature handset around. It's no surprise really, given Sony's past commitment to cramming in respectable specs into a small-screened device.

Being someone who's used each iteration of the Xperia Compact over the years, I’m a little disappointed by the latest version. By ditching the theme of presenting high-end specs in a small body, Sony has simply ended up with a small mid-range phone that doesn’t really do anything differently. It isn't water-resistant, it doesn’t have the same specs as the Xperia flagships, and it's truly ugly to boot.

If you don’t fancy shelling out for a full-priced flagship, your options are a mid-range device from one of the big manufacturers, or grabbing a bargain device from OnePlus or the Nexus ranges. Come October, though, and you’ll also be able to choose the Xperia X Compact. If prices are reasonable, and that camera is as good as Sony claims, this little smartphone could be a shoo-in for one of the best compact phones of 2016.

Unlike the metal-backed XZ, the Compact has a glass back which is the same colour as its glass front and metal sides. Despite its smaller size and expected lower cost, the X Compact is still clearly a flagship phone with the looks, performance and camera to match. It has the same 23-megapixel rear camera and the same smart charging technology as the XZ. The processor if the X Compact is the Snapdragon 650, whereas the XZ uses the higher-spec 820.
