Reviews for the Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra

The device SONY XPERIA XA1 Ultra is packed with good features and mainly this device is for big-screen lovers because it has 6 inches’ screen size. It has performed well in every section but its battery has disappoint us and the price is too high as compare to other brands. Sony should look at the prices if they want good response from users.

There is no denying it. At around Rs 29,000, (on e-commerce websites) the Xperia XA1 Ultra is a niche smartphone for a certain subset of users who want a device geared towards multimedia with great cameras. Smartphones like the Honor 8 Pro and OnePlus 3T offer a better overall package and better specifications for more or less the same cost.

If you can get past the lack of a fingerprint sensor, the Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra is a dependable smartphone for big-screen phone lovers. It's just not the best value for your money at nearly Rs. 30,000.

The Xperia XA1 Ultra is a big screen device aimed at people specifically looking for a phablet for entertainment purposes. Its big bezel-less display is ideal for watching content and playing games but could have done with some stereo speakers. We like how Sony has tuned the Helio P20 chip and the Xperia UI to deliver good battery backup but the lack of a fingerprint scanner and 4K video recording are two of the major drawbacks of this smartphone.

To sum it up, if you're looking for a smartphone with good camera and display then XA1 Ultra will not disappoint you. But in case you are looking for a complete package, there are other options you can choose from in the same price segment.

The XA1 Ultra (32 GB) will cost you around R8k depending on the retailer (spotted on Takealot for R7 999) here in South Africa. That's a tad expensive when it comes to the upper mid-range market, but for that price you'll get a screen that's on-trend, a solid camera and an array of specifications to ensure a bit of technological longevity for your purchase. Or more precisely, long enough to see you through your 24-month contract.

It’s hard not to consider the Xperia XA1 Ultra when looking for a smartphone with a big screen real estate. You would be hard pressed not to be impressed by its slim design, capable shooters, stellar battery life, large RAM and storage, and having Android Nougat out of the box. The Xperia XA1 sits dangerously at a price point where competitors could offer a better price to performance device. Its biggest disadvantage, aside from price, is its year old Helios P20 processor. The Xperia XA1 Ultra is available at Widget City for Php24,000. See listing here. The official local SRP is at Php 21,990.

Unlike the flagship Xperia XZ Premium which can be pre-ordered through the Sony website right now, those interested in the Xperia XA1 Ultra will have to wait until June 12 before they can pre-order the phablet, as reported by Phone Arena. It will then be available online on June 21 before dropping in stores on July 2. The company has yet to announce the price of the mid-range phablet but the Sony Xperia A1 Ultra is expected t cost around $400.

Six-inchers are few and far between. They are far from the established sweet spot for screen size in most markets. We've definitely seen the segment pick up in the last year across various manufacturers portfolios but the fact remains that phones this big remain a niche product for now. Regardless of how tastes evolve, it is always a good time for us when a Sony Xperia Ultra comes our way.

When compared side by side with its smaller sibling – the Xperia XA1 – the XA1 Ultra almost looks a bit tacky. It’s like if Sony wondered how to make a more premium-looking mid-ranger, but the only ideas they had were “make it bigger” and “put some metal on it”. And neither of these decisions do it much favor, immediately drawing attention to design problems the smaller model’s body did a much better job of hiding.

I liked what I saw of the Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra, which seems to be making a hard play for big-screen fans who don’t want to pay flagship prices. We’ll see how much longer Sony continues to play in the mid-range phone space with such fierce competition from OnePlus and Huawei, but things are looking positive for 2017 at least.

Sony should at least be given credit for trying something different, but this doesn’t feel like a phone that's suited to many people. In fact, its market is probably very niche. Having a generous screen size is great, but some of the other specs are a little odd. The big question is: will that tiny battery really last the day? Unfortunately, I’m not convinced.

Sony's Xperia XA1 and XA1 Ultra might not be flagship devices, but their edge-to-edge displays are great. So much so that we'd love to have seen them on both the Xperia XZs and the Xperia XZ Premium. Just imagine how fabulous a 4K HDR edge-to-edge display could be.

If last year’s rollout is any indication, only certain carriers will choose to take these two phones on. The Xperia ZX Premium and Xperia ZXs will get more attention from the Big 3, whereas flanker brands and regional providers are more likely to look at these mid-range devices.

In terms of release and pricing, Sony has announced that the XA1 will begin to go on sale on May 1, 2017 through retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, B&H, and much more, for the price of $299.99. That’s not too shabby when you think about it, but we’re curious to see where they place the XA1 Ultra later on in late spring. We’re hoping to see it under $500 at the very least, just because anything more than that, it’ll be competing against other giants in the premium space.

这是比较大的智能手机尺寸,也十分常见。
大尺寸可以让屏幕有更高的分辨率。因而例如字体等的细节将会更丰富。不过另一方面,小屏幕的功耗会较低,而设备也会更轻盈小巧,售价更低。
