Reviews for the Vivo X80

The Vivo X80 Pro (Snapdragon) struggled in the autonomy tests. The idle phases consumed a lot of power, as did 3G calling, music streaming, and gaming use cases. When evaluating the device on the go, autonomy results were below average in all test cases. However, the charging experience was excellent thanks to the 80W wired charger and the 50W wireless charger. The full charge duration was 44 minutes and 9 seconds wired, and 58 minutes and 26 seconds wireless. The charge efficiency was decent with the wired 80W charger and excellent with the wireless one. But those big chargers consumed a lot of power when the device was fully charged and still plugged in. The efficiency, in terms of discharge currents, was low. Indeed, the discharge currents were higher than average across all use cases, especially when calling and streaming music. Compared with Ultra-premium devices ($800+), the Vivo X80 (Snapdragon) has a global score that is slightly below average. Its autonomy and efficiency scores are below average, too, but its charging score is second best, with the best quick boost subscore so far.

The Vivo X80 smartphone is a great example if the company got the right budget, they can even create a flagship killer smartphone. Though, there’s no denying the X80-series phones are lacking in some sections such as battery life and brightness. But still, the Vivo X80 comes out to be an attractive choice with the vibrant screen and vivid camera quality. However, it also doesn’t mean that the competition has similar products. You will find several alternative options for this phone. Genuinely if you are willing to spend a little more you should pick the Poco F4 GT which comes with awesome specs and greater value for money. But at the end of the day, it’s your money so compare both devices and then make a decision.

The vivo X80 5G offers reliable performance, good battery life with fast charging, solid build, and fantastic cameras with a plethora of creative camera modes. While we wish it had fewer bloatware and the vivo X80 Pro’s IP68 rating and wireless charging feature, we feel the P45,999 price tag is more than justified.

If you are looking for a flagship Android smartphone but don't wish to splurge, then the Vivo X80 might be exactly what you need. It's a little pricier compared to the X70 Pro but the improvements it offers does justify the premium. The X80 offers a good combination of strong performance, good battery life coupled with very fast charging, and capable cameras — all in a single package. The MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC is very powerful and should keep power users happy. Software is one area where I feel Vivo could improve as Funtouch OS 12 could do with fewer preinstalled apps and less notification spam, which should enhance the user experience. I would recommend buying the base variant of the Vivo X80 that's priced at Rs. 54,999 since it provides significantly better value than the higher variant. Those looking for alternatives can check out the Realme GT 2 Pro (Review) or the Motorola Edge 30 Pro (Review), both of which provide comparable performance at slightly lower prices.

The vivo X80 showcases its traditional design for the benefit of its consumers. The combination of futuristic design and stylish subtlety is a winning combination. The Cloud Window 2.0 balances a spherical camera on a square plate, making it more attractive. Furthermore, the Fluorite AG Glass design not only has great beauty but also offers a great grip and feel in the hand. The phone comes in two different colors, Cosmic Black, which depicts a dark star-studded night sky, and Urban Blue, which depicts a clear sky over a gorgeous island.

The Vivo X80 exudes panache and is probably one of the best-looking phones in its price range. Not just that, it is also an extremely reliable performer, offers good battery life with speedy 80 W fast charging, and snaps great pictures. The plethora of photography and videography features on offer is sure to excite most enthusiasts. However, the bloatware-riddled FunTouch OS does stand out like a sore thumb and takes away from the premium experience.

The answer to this question is yes if you are looking for a great camera-centric smartphone. This doesn’t mean that you won’t get a good general performance. This one has a flagship Mediatek chipset that is capable of fulfilling your gaming needs as well. The curved display makes it look premium and I loved binge-watching on this device. The support for an 80W fast charger is an added bonus that really helps quickly charge the phone. So, this is an all-rounder device that will appeal to a lot of users. But, it misses out on the IP rating that one would expect in its price range. The Vivo X80 is selling in India for Rs 54,999. In my opinion, the price of the smartphone is a little high, but with current bank and exchange offers, one can get it at a pretty low price.

It would appear that the Vivo X80 leaves very few stones unturned in its quest to become the best phone under Rs 60,000. It does miss out on an IP rating and doesn’t offer wireless charging either. However, I believe that the camera setup on the device is unrivalled as is the device’s performance capabilities. Display-wise, the inclusion of LTPO 2.0 could have helped a bit with the device’s average battery life but as far as the viewing experience goes, there is nothing left to complain about. I can say that if you can get by without the extensive photography features offered by the Vivo X80, then the Realme GT 2 Pro or Moto Edge 30 Pro will meet your needs at lower price points. However, for a great overall experience, there would be no better phone than the Vivo X80 at the moment.

The Vivo X80 offers fast, reliable performance with decent battery life and superfast charging. Of course, the excellent camera features and plethora of creative camera modes also make it a great phone for shutterbugs to carry around. If I may say, it looks sexy -- not a compliment I can give other phones at this price. The only major disappointment is the software experience and the preloaded bloatware that breaks the premium experience to some extent. That being said, I would still call it a flagship to buy if you’re looking for smooth performance and versatile cameras. If you want the best of performance and gaming, phones like the Realme GT2 Pro and Xiaomi 12 Pro can also be given a thought by paying a bit more. From the Samsung camp, the closest competitor is Galaxy S21 FE that offers additional features like Wireless charging, waterproof rating and slightly better cameras, but you would miss out on the in-box accessories, standout design and the 80W superfast charging.

The Vivo X80 is not just a camera-focussed smartphone but has the hardware to deliver good gaming performance too. It also seems like a very good upgrade to the X70 Pro, as apart from a more powerful SoC, it also has stereo speakers and an IP rating. The phone's pricing is quite attractive and in terms of competition, it goes up against the Realme GT 2 Pro (Review) and the Motorola Edge 30 Pro (Review). I'll be testing the X80's cameras, battery life, and gaming performance over the next few weeks, so stay tuned for the full review coming soon only on Gadgets 360.
