Yet, its biggest drawback is the fact that it comes battling in a price segment which currently is flush with some really impressive options. So, while the IQOO 3 5G may impress as a package in isolation, when compared to the likes of the Galaxy S10 Lite and Realme X50 Pro, the appeal of the IQOO 3 5G starts to fade a little.

iQOO 3 does seem like a power-packed device with impressive specifications but do you really need a 5G device right now, especially if it will set you back by almost Rs 45,000? How future-ready do you really need to be? Frankly, if you are someone who updates phones every two years, a 5G device doesn’t make sense today given the networks won’t be in place so soon. The 4G variant, which starts at Rs 36,990, I feel is better value-for-money since it comes with the same specifications.

One thing I’d like to immediately get out of the way is that the 5G version is simply not worth spending money on. Sure, your phone will be future-proof, but for how long? It’ll likely be several years before we see 5G in India, and by that time, you’ll have moved on to a newer phone. And that 12 GB RAM? You really don’t need that either. If you are going for this phone, get the 4G, 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage variant that retails at Rs 39,990.

The vivo iQOO 3 was just unveiled in India, with a starting price of INR36,990 ($515/€475), for the base 8GB/128GB LTE variant. A bump-up in memory to 8GB/265GB will set you back INR39,990 ($555/€512) and the top-tier iQOO 3 5G, with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, retails for INR44,990 ($625/€575). In China, the iQOO 3 is only available with 5G across all of the memory tiers and with slightly different price points (but in the same ballpark).
