With a slightly bigger battery and faster charger than its competitors, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra offers more than 2 days of autonomy with moderate use and a very good charging experience.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is a superb phone, but it doesn't make sense to pay the full amount for one, seven months into its life cycle. If you can find the flagship at a discount, sure - go for it! There aren't a set of cameras that can equal the Mi 11 Ultra's three rear ones. There are phones that can zoom more, but with compromises in image quality. And while some phone cameras might be better in specific aspects than the Mi 11 Ultra's, none will match it as a whole - it's that good. You're also getting the best smartphone chip on Android's side, the fastest charging, and reasonable battery life. The uncompromising build quality is undeniable as well. If you're in the market for a high-end phone at the end of 2021, there are only a handful with as many good qualities, and outside of the iPhone 13 Pro Max, none reaches the level of sophistication the Mi 11 Ultra brings. But at its limited availability and high price, it's better to go for a Galaxy or Pixel that nearly match what the Mi 11 Ultra is capable of, but do so at a lower price.

Xiaomi certainly designed an interesting phone in the Mi 11 Ultra, and I give it credit for that. The selfie preview screen, more so than anything else, helps it stand apart from the pack. While I appreciate the effort to create a compelling feature here, it’s more gimmick than gimme. Are the rest of the phone’s upgrades worth the extra cost? That depends heavily on what you value. The IP68 rating, the improved battery life, and speedier charging tech are definitely big draws for my money. Then there’s the camera. It features a more useful and fun set of lenses when compared to the standard Mi 11. If you care about photography, the Mi 11 Ultra is a more functional device than the Mi 11. But these upgrades come at a price, and that price is mighty high. Standing on its own, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is a fine phone. It covers all the basics and then some. Too bad for Xiaomi that it’s not selling the phone in a vacuum. With competitors such as the Galaxy S21 Ultra, OnePlus 9 Pro, and Google Pixel 6 afoot, it’s hard to justify the high cost of the Mi 11 Ultra in the West.

Xiaomi released an exceptionally well-designed and feature-rich device with the Mi 11 Ultra. Software support aside, the Mi 11 Ultra really holds up well over half a year later. It’s easy to see why buyers like the device. It has some great cameras, a gorgeous display, rapid fast charging, and top-tier performance. Still, it’s not easy to compete with the other ultra-premium flagships in the market, and ultimately its high price point combined with the lack of a software support guarantee is its downfall.

In Playback testing, the Mi 11 Ultra doesn’t particularly outshine its competitors, nor does it fare poorly per se, but its clean tonal balance, good maximum volume and favorable spatial attributes are counterbalanced by undesirable consequences at loud volumes, a slight lack of low-end extension, and an ill-adapted minimum volume. However, as a recording device, it proudly competes with the best-scoring phones we’ve measured so far in every sub-category, even shoulder to shoulder with the excellent Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders in the Artifacts area. Xiaomi’s latest ultra-premium smartphone makes an excellent on-the-go companion for recording in nearly any type of situation, from meetings to concerts… except for selfie videos!

I cannot criticize the phone for the fact that the Victus glass broke after a slight tapping with another smartphone - nevertheless, I warn you against the delicacy of the screen, the edges of which are deep to the sides. By the way - this is another Victus smartphone that I broke in unusual circumstances - not because of a fall. Would I buy this phone for 1,200 euros? If I could spend that amount on a smartphone, I do not rule out that Mi 11 Ultra would end up on a very short selection list. I see only one competitor - the Galaxy S20 Ultra. I suspect that - if I were faced with such a choice - the deciding factor would be price. And the possibility of an easy purchase of an armored cover...

And yet, it may not be worth it to buy the Mi 11 Ultra right now, especially if you are into the most powerful and most impressive tech at any cost. Xiaomi is rumored to launch the Mi Mix 4 with an under-display camera and faster charging tech later this year. Google is also rumored to release the Pixel 6 XL with similar specs to the Mi 11 Ultra with the added benefit of Google's amazing Pixel camera processing. Samsung is launching the Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 in just a few months, too, which brings foldable displays to an even more modern device. If you want that "Ultra" experience, it might be worth waiting a few more months to see how these phones stack up. Who knows, they could make the Mi 11 Ultra look like an LG phone.

In Europe, prices and availability over the last few weeks have been spotty, but you can get the phone. The issue here is that Xiaomi’s pricing MSRP of 1199€ is too much – even more so considering that street prices at time of writing are more in the 1300-1400€ range. The regular Mi 11 costs only 627€ right now on Amazon, and the Mi 11 Ultra certainly is not "double the phone" to warrant that price difference. Furthermore, the elephant in the room is the Galaxy S21 Ultra which can be gotten at 1049€ - the Galaxy has a better screen, a bit better speaker, vastly superior battery life, and while technically inferior, an arguably better camera capture experience. Xiaomi should have priced the Mi 11 Ultra below the S21 Ultra for it to make sense. As unnatural as it is for Xiaomi devices, the Mi 11 Ultra here is just the lower value option.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, like the Xiaomi Mi 11, made some significant performance advances in Display over its brand predecessors, and overall, it turned in a strong showing that is reflected in its scores. Areas for improvement include accuracy and smoothness in the touch attribute and better management of dark details when viewing HDR10 content. Its strengths included accurate color rendering, good video brightness, and decent readability in most tested conditions.

The Mi 11 Ultra equips one of the most comprehensive camera packages onboard highlighting its periscope telephoto sensor with 120X super zoom, 8K video recording, and 1,920 fps super slow-motion. Its powerful camera tech, outstanding camera quality and camera app loaded with features make it a worthy high-end camera smartphone in the flagship division.

The Mi 11 Ultra packs some of the absolute best hardware out there, from top internal specs to a powerful camera, beautiful display, and fast charging using both wired and wireless methods. There are downsides though. The sheer price is an obvious one, as is the slightly clunky MIUI software and lack of an update promise, but honestly the design is a bigger flaw. The Mi 11 Ultra is not only big, but thanks to the ungainly camera module it is also simply quite ugly. Unless you really want the novel miniature rear display you can get similar performance in a much more attractive package in the Galaxy S21 Ultra, which also nets you slightly superior zoom photos and smoother software – albeit with slower charging. It’s mostly the existence of that phone that makes the Mi 11 Ultra a difficult sell for the average user – but then again, this certainly isn’t an average phone.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is the most feature-packed, top-of-the-line smartphone I’ve ever used. It has fantastic speakers, pretty good cameras, a beautiful and vibrant display, and excellent performance. The battery life is ample, the charging speed is insanely quick, and I’ve had no trouble with phone calls, texts, or mobile data connectivity in general. Sharp and powerful haptics also means that when notifications do come in, I know about them, and this is one of the few phones I enable haptic feedback on when typing. It was a shame that the entire experience was soured by the MIUI 12.5 update, but I’m happy that it was at the very least eventually rectified when a fix was released.

Scrutinise this phone beneath the surface and without an official warranty to back it up compared with highly competent alternatives like the Samsung Galaxy S21+, the Oppo Find X3 Pro, the iPhone 12 Pro Max, and the list goes on and on - and especially given an asking price on some local e-tailers in the region of >S$1,300 (as of 26 June 2021) - choosing the Mi 11 Ultra requires a very high level of dedication to its proud design, or just all things Xiaomi. Thankfully, the Mi 11 exists, with local support and warranty. It doesn't have a rear display or a big sensor, but it does better represent Xiaomi's usual knack for providing a decent all-around offering without breaking the bank. And it's the one most people should be looking at.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra retails at Rs 69,999 which makes it the most expensive smartphone of the company in India. The smartphone comes with a ceramic body design and packs Snapdragon 888 processor which offers flawless performance. Running the latest operating system, the Mi 11 Ultra also packs an impressive and powerful camera. With an IP68 rating onboard your device is also protected from dust and water. The smartphone offers everything you want from a flagship device. Still looking for alternatives, you can consider the OnePlus 9 Pro, Vivo X60 Pro+ or the Samsung Galaxy S21.

Maybe, the Mi 11 Ultra is one of the best phones on the market. It comes right at the Galaxy S21 Ultra for the Ultra name, and honestly, I think the Mi 11 Ultra is the only phone to deserve that moniker. It's truly "Ultra" from top to bottom, but it isn't without bugs. Sure, it could become better with a future OTAs, but don't buy a phone on a promise of future updates. It's ideal for a gearhead who just wants to play with the latest smartphone tech—it's all crammed into this one device.

Like most Xiaomi flagships, you won't be able to get this in the US. You can import one, and it should work decently on Google Fi, but I had some issues with T-Mobile. Google Fi will have support for WiFi Calling and it seems to more consistently pick up LTE, but T-Mobile will mostly connect to 3G. You won't be able to use 5G on this phone in the US, unfortunately. At £1,199, this phone costs the same as the Galaxy S21 Ultra. It's not cheap, but it wasn't meant to be. This is not Xiaomi's average product with a fast CPU and a bunch of cut corners—it has all the modern tech you can possibly cram into a smartphone in 2021. It could be almost perfect if Xiaomi can smooth over a few rough edges.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is a pricey phone with world-class specs, but as a whole, it isn’t always greater than the sum of its parts. This is the reason its excellent camera, flagship power, ultra-fast charging and stunning screen being set against chunky design, mediocre battery life and an occasionally clumsy interface hold it back from justifying its high price tag.

Xiaomi has been ready to play in the big leagues for a while now. Its hardware quality has been rock solid — but then so has everyone else’s. By focusing on the cameras — and introducing a rear camera selfie solution that works, and rather well at that — the Mi 11 Ultra manages to stand out in a market that’s crowded with excellent options.

The Mi 11 Ultra is among the best Android smartphones currently available in India. It not just rubs shoulders with other premium flagships but outpaces them on several parameters. There is barely a smartphone as rich in features and tech as the Mi 11 Ultra. That said, Xiaomi’s premium flagship justifies its price tag of Rs 69,999 simply because it is significantly cheaper but in no way inferior to its peers that cost over Rs 100,000. In this price segment, it is a clear winner with no other smartphone competing with it.

The Mi 11 Ultra delivers in almost all the key areas of a premium smartphone. We have hardly any complaints overall. However, it does need a bit of work in some areas like the fingerprint sensor. It looks and feels very premium, and it manages to give an all-round experience. Xiaomi does have the value-for-money tag still hanging over its head but the Mi 11 Ultra also proves why this device is worth that price. If you’re looking to spend on a premium smartphone, you can definitely consider the Mi 11 Ultra.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is a potentially great phone that’s ruined by what Xiaomi is pitching as its standout feature: the giant camera bump makes the phone unwieldy, and not only does the rear display not bring any important features, we also found it got in the way frequently. It’s hard to make a case for a phone with this annoying ‘extra’, especially given the high asking price. It’s a shame, because buried beneath that mountainous bump is a great phone with fantastic cameras, a powerful processor and a good-looking screen.

For Xiaomi, the challenge isn’t that it has built a great phone. The Mi 11 Ultra ticks all the right boxes, when it comes to performance and the camera is excellent. The Mi 11 Ultra offers everything one could possibly ask for in a premium flagship smartphone and it does nearly everything very well. A couple of areas where we could use some improvement would be the speed of the fingerprint sensor, and perhaps the camera app could be more flexible. There are other minor software bugs that need fixing too. The areas in which this phone does excel include its excellent build quality, the vivid high-refresh-rate display, all-day battery life, and the very good set of cameras. The relatively spam-free MIUI experience is also refreshing.

The Mi 11 Ultra we received was clearly an early engineering sample that had been flashed with the India-based MIUI12 ROM. This, unfortunately, led to a number of problems such as performance hits due to the Snapdragon 888 thermal throttling excessively, the display calibration being very unreliable and even the phone's best feature; its cameras, suffering from a laggy user interface. We're fairly confident that these issues won't present themselves in retail units, and if that truly ends up being the case, then the Mi 11 Ultra becomes a rock-solid alternative to the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, at just 60 per cent of the price. If you're wondering if you should get the Mi 11 Ultra or the OnePlus 9 Pro, then you'd be better off with the former as long as you can live with MIUI12. Even though our unit was faulty, the camera output was definitely impressive from all three cameras, especially the telephoto lens, which was usable even in low-light without having to switch over to the primary camera.

The Mi 11 Ultra is a huge step and thankfully, in the right direction, from Xiaomi. The design, the camera specification and the secondary display all help the Mi 11 Ultra stand out from the other flagship Android smartphones. The question that you need to ask is how many of these features will you actually end up using? The size of the phone is polarising, dual display has limited use case and not everyone understands the camera complications. That’s where the Rs 69,999 price tag for a Xiaomi phone makes you think twice.

The question really is, should you buy the Mi 11 Ultra? It's hard to say based on the unit we tested. It overheats, the camera interface is laggy and the display calibration is nowhere close to what Xiaomi advertises. All these flaws combined also lead us to believe that this is likely due to us getting an early engineering sample instead of a retail unit. We will try and source a retail unit and re-test it to see how much of our findings hold up and how many of them can be discounted. Assuming everything works close to how it should, for Rs 69,990 the Mi 11 Ultra blows the OnePlus 9 Pro out of the water, and goes toe-to-toe with Samsung’s very best flagship of the year so far. The fact that the Mi 11 Ultra can be such a compelling device is what has us wishing that the issues faced by us are isolated. If not, then Xiaomi would have a rather beautiful failure on its hands.

Being a device of the “Ultra” designation, the new Mi 11 Ultra comes at a quite higher price than its regular Mi 11 counterpart. Xiaomi doesn’t quite reveal timing of the availability, but announces the Mi 11 Ultra at 1199€ for the standard 12+256GB version. This is the same price as the 128GB variant of the S21 Ultra, so Xiaomi is definitely aiming higher than they ever did before in terms of product placement.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra takes the mantra 'turn it up to 11' and runs with it. Everything on this phone is a case study in smartphone luxuriance. Plus, there's a gargantuan rear camera bump with three massive lenses and a little secondary display. That extra display is a fun addition, but it doesn't serve much purpose. The only thing we don't know right now is the phone's price, which is almost certain to be as massive as the aforementioned camera block.

There was a lot of hype surrounding the Mi 11 Ultra’s camera, which Xiaomi says was developed in collaboration with Samsung. So far, after a day of heavy testing, the camera seems to live up to its hype. The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is, without a shadow of a doubt, among the most feature-rich phones you can get your hands on and the device manages to tick all the right boxes.
