Reviews for the Xiaomi Poco M5
小米Poco M5试图凭借强大的处理器在200欧元以下的价格范围内脱颖而出。然而,相机并不那么出色,而且这款手机在定位追踪方面也有问题。那么小米Poco M5是否只是人群中的另一款预算手机?

This is the latest Smart Phone from a new company to me. POCO is the gaming arm of Xiaomi who I have reviewed phones from in the past. The M5 can switch refresh rates Video 30Hz or 60Hz, Gaming 60Hz or 90Hz and Scrolling at 30-60-90 Hz. Overall the cost of this POCO offing is not very much at all.

The Poco M5 isn’t a total disappointment, given it’s a serviceable device that doesn’t struggle much while maintaining a price under $200. But the budget smartphone market has some truly impressive options, which make the Poco M5 tough to recommend – especially when it has seemingly downgraded on many aspects of its recent cousin, the Poco M4 Pro 5G.

Everything around us is getting more expensive, so it’s not so easy to create cheap smartphones. After testing the M5, I can say that its brother, the M5s, although a reissue of a year-old model from the Redmi line, looks more interesting (stereo speakers, better camera quality and a wide-angle module, 33W charging, AMOLED screen) at a slightly higher price. Among the advantages of the M5 are a slightly more powerful processor, 90 Hz screen refresh rate, and, of course, an unusual design. And yes, there’s also a charger in the package, which was a pity for the M5s. At first glance, it seemed to me that POCO M5 would be more attractive if it were cheaper. However, I repeat, everything is getting more expensive. And if you look at the current price with discounts, the model has no adequate competitors. And the ones that do have a weaker processor or some other aspects that are critically flawed. And to get something better, you have to pay more. Among the POCO M5‘s competitors, the Samsung Galaxy A13 (not the most advanced hardware, but better cameras and a great shell) and Redmi Note 11 (33W charging, AMOLED screen, 90 Hz) are worthy of note. However, I still think it’s better to overpay for the POCO M5s, or its twin from last year, the Redmi Note 10S. POCO M5 is one of the cheapest smartphones in the POCO/Xiaomi range. It stands out for its design with a leather-like back, a 90 Hz screen, a capacious battery, and a top-of-the-line processor (for a budget phone). Photos are good in sufficient light. Cons - bad photos in less than ideal lighting, a mono speaker, not the best screen color reproduction and poor readability in the sun, no wide-angle camera. As you can see, there are drawbacks, but still, for the current price, this is probably the most interesting inexpensive smartphone.

After examining all of the factors of the Xiaomi Poco M5, the phone is looking a great deal as an affordable mid-range phone. It includes impressive performance, a long-lasting battery, and better refresh rate support. But at the same time, there’s no doubt that the phone also has several flaws such as average camera results, slow charging, standard display quality, and so on. Instead of that, the Poco M5s is looking for a more appealing option, except it got lower processing power. We all know that smartphone makers do reduce some features to make the overall price more attractive. As for the alternative options, you can check out the Samsung Galaxy A13 5G since it offers all-rounder features with 5G connectivity. Though, you can choose any other option that fits your requirements.

Our verdict of the Poco M5 is a tad different from the Poco M4 5G's just due to the price difference. While both devices offer largely the same user experience, the Poco M5 is definitely a more desirable alternative in the sub-€200 category. The LTE device has a decent display running at 90Hz for some smooth scrolling, an excellent loudspeaker, and adequate performance for fluent everyday operation, which isn't a given in this low-end class. It also has a proper ambient light sensor, a proximity sensor, an IR blaster and NFC. These aren't all that common among budget phones either. The phone also offers excellent battery endurance, mature and capable MIUI 13 software and, last but not least, a design that stands out and is particularly comfortable to hold even without a case. This leaves us with just one complaint - the max screen brightness. An LCD that only goes as high as 448nits leaves a lot to be desired in outdoor use. At the end of the day, the Poco M5 is a low-end device with a pretty basic feature set and hardware. The latter seems adequate for the asking price, but we can't help thinking of the other Xioami-branded alternatives. We strongly recommend taking a closer look at those because you may get a bit more for your money.

The Poco M5 is a decent phone available for a low price, but it simply lacks the sense of sheer punching-above-its-weight good value that defined many previous Poco handsets. You seem to be getting a little less for your money overall compared to other Poco phones, meaning you’re probably better off finding a deal on a Poco M4 Pro or the Redmi Note 11.

The Poco M5 is an affordable phone that comes with more than enough power for browsing and streaming. The low price point does mean that it’s limited in terms of gaming, and it doesn’t have the best camera on the market, but it’s more than serviceable if you’re looking for a good-value handset.

If your budget is strictly under Rs 15,000, and you want something that looks slightly different, then sure the Poco M5 is an option for consideration. And given some discount offers this season, you can get it for Rs 10,000 in some cases, which might be more appealing for some users. The phone offers acceptable performance and has a big battery life as well. If you want a more future ready phone, however, it might make more sense to wait an see what options arrive in the coming months. It is likely more 5G-ready phones will make their way to the market in this price segment by then, which might make for a more prudent purchase.

The POCO M5 starts at Rs 12,499, and for the price, the handset comes across as a good proposition. The phone performs admirably and while the handset doesn’t come with a 5G-enabled SoC, the Helio G99 chipset powering the phone offers more raw compute than say, the Dimensity 700 powering the POCO M4 5G. It also helps that the handset comes with an interesting design that helps it stand out among its competitors. Interestingly, Rest assured, the device is a worthy option to consider if you don’t prioritise 5G and instead, want a reliable smartphone at an affordable price.

The Poco M5 is a great budget smartphone. It has great-looking hardware, excellent benchmark performance, fluid software experience, superb battery life, and a fairly good 90Hz display. There are some nice perks like a headphone jack, micro SD card support, and NFC onboard. And the main camera performance is more than adequate considering the price. So what are the downsides you ask? Well, the single speaker is quite average, the charging speeds are quite slow, the selfie camera could be better and there’s no ultrawide camera. For an entry-level smartphone, I believe the POCO M5 checks all the right boxes. If you want a smartphone that has better speakers, faster-charging speeds, and an ultrawide camera, well it’s easy. Just get the slightly more expensive POCO M5s. But keep in mind that the more expensive device has an inferior MediaTek processor. But for just €189 the POCO M5 packs a serious punch for a budget smartphone.

POCO M5 is a fantastic phone under 15K which packs a lot for its price. The Helio G99 chipset offers amazing performance combined with the big 5000mAh battery. The phone stands out from the crowd due to its nice design. Apart from that, it features a decent set of cameras and a vibrant display. There are a few things that POCO could have done a little better. I wished it was an AMOLED panel but the IPS panel also does a good job. The phone only supports 18W of fast charging which takes a bit long to charge the phone. However, the main highlight of the phone is its powerful performance and it shines in that department. The POCO M5 offers great value for money and is an easy recommendation for those who are looking for a stylish budget gaming smartphone under 15k.

The POCO M5 gives you great value for money in the budget segment, bringing a strong design aesthetic, long-lasting battery life, and reliable performance in day-to-day use. However, these perks come at the expense of 5G connectivity and unimpressive rear camera quality.

POCO M5 has a better performance chip, higher screen refresh rate and touch rate, and lower price. while maintaining the price advantage, M5 is fully ahead in a core configuration such as chip, RAM and ROM, screen resolution, refresh rate, touch sampling rate, and so on.
