Reviews for the Xiaomi Redmi 7
Redmi = affordable. Offering a good price-to-performance ratio has been Xiaomi's formula of success in the past. The Redmi 7 is no exception: It is available for around $150 and has quite a lot to offer. However, its competition is right on its heels. Find out how the Redmi 7 fares in our review.

So who is Redmi 7 for, do we recommend it at a starting price of Rs. 7,999? We would recommend Redmi Note 7 3/32 variant over Redmi 7 in case you find it in stock as it brings a lot more to the table for just Rs. 1000 more than the 3/32 Redmi 7 variant, but sadly, Xiaomi has decided to discontinue Redmi Note 7 after the Redmi Note 7S launch in the country. If you can not stretch your budget and still want for a good-looking smartphone with the latest dot-notch display, decent performance and good battery life for the price, then Redmi 7 is the smartphone to go for, but we will not recommend getting 2GB RAM variant as MIUI is a heavy Android skin. The phone is now on open sale across Amazon.in, Mi.com and Mi Home stores. In this price range, Redmi 7’s competitors are Asus Zenfone Max M2, Realme C2, and Nokia 5.1 Plus.

The Redmi 7 offers a good load of value for its price. The budget Xiaomi phone does surprisingly well on the display and camera fronts. Its performance too is up to the mark. PUBG Mobile players on a budget should be quite happy with its ability to push pixels. All things considered, the Redmi 7 really is a fairly good all-rounder. What’s its Achilles heel then? Build quality, easily, especially on the back. I wish the edge of the rear panel didn’t threaten to scratch my finger every time I lifted the phone up.

The Redmi 7 does offer better features and performance as compared to its predecessors. The design is refreshing, while the performance is quite satisfactory. The daylight performance of the camera is good, though, in low light, it shimmers. The battery is impressive in our opinion. That said, you can actually buy Redmi Note 7 by adding just Rs 1,000. So, if you are ready to tolerate its misses and especially the advertisement, then you can think of this phone as your next budget smartphone.

At Rs 7,999, Redmi 7 has the feel of a phone that costs way above its price. If you are looking for a great camera, this is not a buy for you. However, if you seek a phone that can last long on one charge and endure falls, this Redmi phone is the right choice.

With a decent design, Gorilla Glass 5, quick processor, the Xiaomi Redmi 7 is a great successor to Redmi 6 and even to Redmi 6 Pro at this price. Samsung Galaxy M20 can be a good alternative but it lets down for its Exynos 7870 chip. But, if you willing to shell out a couple of 1,000 bucks more, you can purchase the Redmi Note 7 for Rs 11,990 which has slightly improved specs.

For its price, Redmi 7 is certainly an excellent package. What stood out was the battery and the overall device performance, which is above average in this price segment. Yes, the phone’s camera performance could be better, both on the front and back.

We mentioned in our first impressions of Redmi 7 that the smartphone has all the ingredients required to make a good Android smartphone. During our review, we found that the smartphone fares well in two major aspects - battery and camera capabilities. The handset looks good with its new glossy plastic body with ‘Aura Smoke’ design.

Overall, the Redmi 7 is an entry-level device that’s more than sufficient. There’s a couple of drawbacks: HD+ display, thick bezels around the screen, slightly washed out selfies, frame drops on moderate to high settings in gameplay, and the like. Still, there are its pros too: price point, battery life, vibrant color reproduction, natural-looking selfies even with the Beauty mode, surprisingly good audio, and such. The Redmi 7’s no-frills look and decent performance is a bang for your buck.

Yes. The Redmi 7 is a good phone for its price. The Redmi 7 looks stunning for its price. The gradient finish is a highlight of the phone. And in other aspects, the Redmi 7 is a mixed bag. The phone manages to click pretty good pictures in good light, offers great battery life - possibly one the best under Rs 10,000 -- has decent performance, and comes in several funky colours. I wish the display could have brighter. But regardless, the value that Redmi 7 offers for the price is great. Go for it if you don't want to splurge more than Rs 8,000 on your smartphone.

Xiaomi has done a lot to improve the Redmi series, and the new Redmi 7 offers better features and specifications as well as more up-to-date looks than the Redmi 6. There are a few steps backwards though – we don't like the reduction in RAM on the base model and lack of a 64GB storage variant. The Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Y3 both start at Rs. 9,999 — Rs. 1,000 more than the top-end Redmi 7 — and it would be very tempting to choose either of those models for the improvements they offer.

Back in 2018, I reviewed the Redmi 5 the entry-level device which packed in a Snapdragon 450, which was a decent chipset paired with 3 GB RAM. Taller 18:9 display ratios were the trend and Xiaomi was a bit late to jump on to the train even though it was one of the few manufacturers to offer such a display in the entry-level smartphone segment. Design was not really a priority and the handset featured a slim, yet basic (non-flashy design) with a metal back.

To conclude, the Redmi 7 is a refined smartphone as compared to its predecessor. The phone features a new design language, which looks premium and is more appealing in nature. The display looks good and the cameras are quite decent in our opinion. However, when it comes to the performance, looking at the sheer specifications, it will face stiff competition with the likes of Asus Zenfone Max M2, Infinix Smart 3 Plus and more.

The Redmi 7 is a return to form for one of Xiaomi’s most popular product lines. The phone delivers good performance and a well-optimized usage experience, and it looks smashing while at it. The annoying presence of ads in the interface is one of the few issues I faced with the phone. And while I would be a bit cautious because of the panel gaps and course edges, I suspect this is more a product of early production-related issues, rather than an effort to reduce costs at the expense of quality.

Today two new handsets were launched the Redmi Y3 and the Redmi 7. Both handsets are powered by Snapdragon 632 octa core processor and packed with 4000 mAh battery, in fact they also follow the same Auro design pattern a new design, that’s right.

Along the way, Redmi mobile phones can become a favorite “national mobile phone” because of the high quality and cost-effectiveness that can be trusted. In this Redmi 7 reviewed in this article, Xiaomi is more intimate in providing an 18-month long warranty, once again making a commitment to quality, making people uneasy.
