Reviews for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7S

There is no denying that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7S is a capable device and the starting price of Rs 10,999 makes the whole package more attractive. It has a mid-range processor, 48MP camera, lasting battery — all elements to make sure that you don’t face any issues in the everyday usage. The phone also looks pretty neat at the same time. These specs secure Redmi Note 7S' position as a major player in the sub-Rs 15,000 smartphone bracket, which is quite difficult to make an impact on these days.

The Redmi Note 7S isn’t the only great option in the entry level segment. Realme and Asus both have great smartphones in the segment, but none can offer a camera with such capabilities. It helps that the Redmi Note 7S is powerful enough for most. If photography is a priority, the Redmi Note 7S would be a great choice, but I would recommend stepping up to the slightly more expensive Redmi Note 7 Pro for a truly fantastic imaging experience in the sub-15,000 rupees (~$215) category of devices.

Yes, the new Redmi Note 7S has a good performance coupled with a very good camera for its price, though it didn’t fare so well on the gaming front. Don’t buy it just for that 48MP number at the back. Buy if you are in due for an upgrade, and don’t want to pay extra for the Pro.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7S and Note 7 are nearly identical when it comes to their hardware with the main difference being their rear camera modules. If you don't really care about camera performance, the Redmi Note 7 offers the same experience at lower prices. In that case, might want to hurry up as Xiaomi is planning to phase out the Redmi Note 7 in favour of the Redmi Note 7S.

The Note 7S is a good phone. And it is totally worth its price of Rs 10,999. The problem for the Note 7S is the Note 7 Pro, which is a much better phone at a price of Rs 13,999. So here is the deal: if you don't mind spending extra Rs 3,000, then go for the Redmi Note 7 Pro as it offers much better camera and core hardware. The Note 7S should be your choice if you are strictly limited to Rs 10,999 and it goes without saying that at this price tag the Redmi Note 7S is a sweet deal.

In the constant rush to stay ahead of its competition, Xiaomi is hoping that the Redmi Note 7S will give buyers another option to choose from. The upgraded primary rear camera is the only difference between the new Redmi Note 7S and the Redmi Note 7. It also costs an extra Rs. 1,000, but will this phone dampen the Redmi Note 7 Pro's appeal? To conclude, the Redmi Note 7S offers better camera capabilities as compared to the standard version of the Redmi Note 7. It is a good thing that Xiaomi has introduced the cheapest smartphone with a 48-megapixel sensor. However, it might also backfire a bit as customers who recently bought a brand new Redmi Note 7, will surely feel cheated.

While it is great to see a lot of options in the market, Xiaomi risks alienating and confusing prospective buyers by introducing rapid, iterative models. What do you think? Does Xiaomi have too many smartphone models at similar price points or does it let you pick and choose the exact features that you want?
