苹果iPad Air 2更薄的机身设计和高质量材料让它仍然是一款非常优秀的平板电脑。遗憾的是,它的纤薄设计同时也带来了一些缺点,因为这让它相比前作对压力更加敏感。它的屏幕仍然是现在平板市场上最好的之一。它的黑值很遗憾略有些高,不过这应该算是吹毛求疵了。不过,由于采用了屏幕镀膜,鬼影现象终于成为了过去。仅有三星 Galaxy Tab S 10.5可以在这方面战胜iPad Air。
不过性能方面的情况就不太一样了:新的A8X 处理器和PowerVR GX6650显卡的组合非常强劲,让它成为了市场上最快的一款设备。只有Nvidia Tegra K1 整合芯片可以与它抗衡,在一部分测试中战胜来自这家加利福尼亚厂家的处理器。同时,这也需要看谷歌Nexus 9是否会在持续负载下遇到自动降频问题。这对于iPad Air 2来说是个烦人的情况,由于这个问题,处理器的性能在Geekbench 3测试中下降到了A7处理器的水平。不过这款iPad依然非常快,性能的下降在现在的应用中很难察觉到。
一个转折点是在iOS 8.1的稳定性问题上。很多早先版本的问题都已经得到了修复,不过新的操作系统仍然不完美,很多应用都需要调整。这个缺点,加上自动降频问题还有较弱的电源适配器都给它减了些分。其他的问题还有去掉了的滑动功能键,蓝牙信号引发的噪音,还有它作为昂贵的高端产品没有提供对蓝牙4.1和LTE Cat.6标准支持的遗憾。
苹果当然是给我们带来了一个很优秀的更新,不过我们的观点是,如果你已经有了一代的iPad Air的话现在还没有更换新产品的必要。而对于拥有更老iPad的用户来说,这则是一个更换平板电脑的好机会。
