Reviews for the Realme 8 Pro
Realme installs a 108-megapixel camera in its 8 Pro and enables fancy photo effects like tilt-shift and pictures of the starry night sky. However, the latest cellular standard is missing, which limits the future viability somewhat.
Both affordable mid-range smartphones have a lot of megapixels at their disposal. However, you can find out which of the two 108 MP phones will be ahead in the end and thus offers the best camera package for under 300 Euros (~$361) in our test.

The Realme 8 Pro is the top entry in the company’s mid-range 8-series lineup. It features a 6.4-inch FHD+ screen, Qualcomm’s mid-range 720 chipset, and either 6 or 8 GB of memory with 128 GB of storage. There are four cameras on the back. The main wide module uses a high-resolution sensor in a bid to improve zoom performance; there’s also an ultra-wide camera as well as a dedicated 2 MP macro module for extreme closeups.

The Realme 8 Pro has some disadvantages and if you read our review of its vanilla version, gaming is more optimized than the pro version. But for the price of P16,990 (8GB/128GB), it can still play esports titles and the Snapdragon 720G still packs a punch on its gaming performance without the 5G. Meanwhile, on the camera side, thanks to the HM2 sensor, it helps process the image in intense lighting and low light. The camera features are useful and entertaining and all I can see is the huge improvement in its camera. A higher refresh rate plus an AMOLED panel is the best on the display right now. But Realme 8 Pro isn’t capable of that and charging time is a bit of a downer. So if you want to sacrifice it for the two main specs–Camera and Performance–Realme 8 Pro is a perfect choice.

This phone's closes counterparts would be the vivo V21e, which has the same price tag and chipset. Since Malaysians are usually price-sensitive, the Redmi Note 10 Pro and Samsung Galaxy A32 5G are also great options at RM1099 and RM1199, respectively. In particular, the latter's 120Hz refresh rate and 5000mAh battery pack make it excellent value-for-money. Ultimately, the choice is yours.

Our realme 8 Pro review in the Philippines shows that the phone is a textbook example of the old saying “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. It’s an iterative update more than anything else, aimed at enticing snap-happy users that value camera performance above everything else. It does run into strong competition from rival brands though who have stepped up their game in terms of offering value-for-money products. As of press time, the realme 8 Pro still has a good chance of standing out because of its strong camera performance, but realme might want to go with a new set of guts for the next iteration of their next mid-range offering.

This mid-range smartphone from realme still offers the same chipset as its predecessor, the snapdragon 720g. and it is paired with an 8GB ram and 128GB of external storage. And the question is, will the snapdragon 720g still enough to handle games in 2021? Watch our full gaming review of the realme 8 Pro.

To wrap things up, if you’re looking for a decent mid-range phone with a camera sporting a high megapixel count, then you’re already in the right direction. The Snapdragon 720G chipset and the lack of 5G could hold you back since we don’t consider this one to be much of an upgrade if you’re coming from the Realme 7 series. But if those things aren’t too important to you, it’s still quite a respectable daily driver. But the real question is, for how long?

Realme 8 Pro is one of Realme's addition to the realme number series. It is packed with a bigger 108mp main cam, unlike its predecessor. But It still uses the same snapdragon 720g. And the question is, will the snapdragon 720g enough to catch up to the bigger 108mp sensor?

The Realme 8 Pro comes with Android 11 and runs RealmeUI 2.0 and the smartphone worked capably throughout my time with it. I had no major issues with the phone in terms of lags or glitches and while it isn’t as fast as the OnePlus 9 Pro, for example, the Realme 8 Pro works as well as you could hope for.

The realme 8 Pro looks to be a solid upgrade for people who wanted a better camera module on the previous model, though we’ll still have to wait a little bit to see where it fits in realme’s current product stack here in the Philippines.

The new addition of realme on their number series. This is the realme 8 pro, the successor of the realme 7 pro last year. It has a 108mp main cam, 50w super dart charging, and a super AMOLED display.

The Realme 8 Pro is least expensive 108mp camera we've seen yet! But is it durable? Today we find out how much stress the new Realme 8 Pro can handle. I've been asked to durability test cheaper phones. Budget smartphones need to be durable as well. With the Realme 8 Pro, with its super loud design. We'll find out what its made from and if it can handle every day life.

As another entry into the rapidly expanding realme catalogue of phones, the realme 8 Pro does as you’d expect. While the 108MP main camera can be considered a worthy upgrade, most of everything else is the usual incremental climb over the previous generation. That being said, it’s not a bad phone. You may find the startup process infuriating (like I was) if you’re not careful, and your mileage may vary about the very in-your-face advertising at the back. But beyond that, the phone stands well on its own in everyday use, has a long-lasting battery life, and a very fast charging rate. If you’ve just recently bought a midrange device, you probably won’t be making the leap, no matter if you dare to or not. But if you’re looking to replace an ageing device, then you can consider the realme 8 Pro. It’s worth mentioning that it has a price of RM1299, so it has that going for it.

The Realme 8 series is not a significant upgrade over the Realme 7 series. We did not find the Realme 8 to be significantly different than its predecessor, and the Realme 8 Pro isn't a huge leap either. Strangely, the list of feature subtractions is a lot longer than the list of additions on the Realme 8 Pro. Yes, the phone is priced lower than the Realme 7 Pro, but I still don't think it provides the same kind of value for money.

Its time to teardown the Realme 8 Pro to see what that camera looks like from the inside. Samsung makes both of the 108mp cameras in this video. The Realme 8 Pro's 108mp camera along with the Samsung Note 20 Ultra, which also has a 108mp camera. Today we are going to put them side by side to compare the sizes. Sometimes a larger sensor means better, just because more light can get in.

A good value phone with a strong primary camera and fast charging, but not the strongest all-round Android at its price. The highlight is the 108MP camera and it is certainly among the best camera phones if you’re looking in the budget market. The Realme 8 Pro misses out on two of the key pieces of tech that have just come to more affordable phones, including 5G and a high screen refresh rate. This is a 60Hz, 4G phone. You can get 5G or 90/120Hz models at a not-too-dissimilar price. If either of those are important to you, then you’re best of looking elsewhere.

What it does offer is plenty of bang for your buck. It’s well put together, despite its plastic rear, with a punchy screen, enough power to breeze through the latest games, and a camera that produces good shots, given the right settings. While the 108MP camera is a bit niche, it’s used in a clever way, and could pave the way for future innovation.

The Realme 8 Pro is a good, inexpensive Android phone that you probably shouldn’t buy right now — at least if you’re in the US. But it’s also a preview of positive things to come to the midrange class, especially in terms of camera hardware. I have seen the future of smartphone imaging around the $400 price point, and it is good.

There’s no doubt that the Realme 8 Pro is a reliable choice with good cameras, impressive battery life and charging, decent performance and display quality. Also, the phone’s build quality is good and will be able to handle the daily grind without giving too many hassles. If you are looking for a reliable no-fuss smartphone at a price of around Rs 15,000 then the Realme 8 Pro can be considered. As far as the competition in this price range there are other capable devices like the Poco X3 Pro or Redmi Note 10 Pro Max which you may consider. For Realme 7 Pro users, there’s really nothing much to look forward to and consider it as an upgrade.

Realme 8 Pro does give Realme the bragging right for the “most affordable 108MP camera phone.” But despite that, it does not give you the impression of being a phone that is worth its pricing. It makes sense for you to buy the Realme 8 Pro only if you want a good camera setup — and have reasonable patience to cure the oversaturated colors — and are spoiled by fast charging and cannot opt for something slower.

In recent years, the mid-range smartphone segment has turned quite exciting. Apart from getting all the basics right, phones in this category often bring a premium feature to the table. In the 8 Pro's case, Realme offers a whopping 108 MP camera and 50 W charging – usually reserved for high-end smartphones. But how does it fare as an all-around smartphone? Let's find out!

Obviously, there is only one thing wrong with the Realme 8 Pro, and that is the launch price. The competition has cheaper and/or better offers, and there is no place for the Realme 8 Pro among the €300 bunch. Maybe if Realme drops its price down to about €200-€220 - it would be a good alternative for those on the budget, but right now - it's a no-go.

This is a good phone but is it enhanced by having the 108MP Camera sensor on it? Could Realme have just used the 48MP that is more abundant and gotten away with it? Two interesting related questions there and I believe by answering both I will also answer my question from the head of this review. The camera is really quite a bit of kit and it does add some genuinely interesting features into the mix for this phone by having such a massive sensor but I don’t think that its full potential has been realised and I do think that this phone would be just as good with a 48MP camera instead.

The realme 8 Pro has surprised us with its 108 MP impressive camera, the daylight shots are brilliant and appear to be sharper and vibrant in colors. It turns out that the realme 8 Pro could be one of the rare smartphones to feature a 108 MP camera under a ₹20,000 budget.

Realme 8 Pro is an out-and-out one-trick pony. Apart from the 108-megapixel cameras, this is hardly anything that makes it special in the sea of phones that you get at this price. And while the 108-megapixel camera -- which is overall good -- is the speciality, the rest of the features fit perfectly in the grand scheme of things that Realme is trying to pitch here. Think of it as a phone that is meant to rival the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max. And while the Realme 8 Pro and Redmi Note 10 Pro Max are side-by-side comparison phones, everything comes down to the price.

The Realme 8 Pro is a feature-packed phone for under Rs 20,000 price segment and for the mentioned price, you get a vibrant AMOLED panel, good cameras, and 65W fast charging. That being said, Realme 8 Pro faces stiff competition from the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max. If you can shell out Rs 2,000 more, Xiaomi’s mid-range phone offers features like a 120Hz panel, stereo speakers and other features.

After using the Realme 8 Pro for a while, it does feel as though the company has focused mainly on camera improvements. The pricing is more aggressive than that of the outgoing Realme 7 Pro, which makes this device a lot more interesting. It will be going right up against the brand new Redmi Note 10 Pro and Redmi Note 10 Pro Max, which also has a 108-megapixel rear camera. So should you upgrade to the Realme 8 Pro? The Realme 8 Pro is a typical Realme device. It's aggressively priced but does not compromise on specifications or for the matter headline-grabbing features. In the phone's case, this feature is its 108-megapixel-lens-based camera set-up. But apart from the cameras, there's not too much to get excited about. Despite being a typical mid-ranger, which has its upsides and drawbacks. The phone provides decent value for money and overall is a good deal.

In isolation, there is plenty to like about the Realme 8 Pro including its stellar 108MP camera, beefy battery, decent performance and lightweight construction in a package costing less than £300. But these gains are harmed by Realme standing still on any real internal upgrades, and the company has shot itself in the foot with that divisive “Dare to leap” branding on the back.

If you can get over the massive slogan on the rear - which, we know, is a big ask - then the Realme 8 Pro delivers a decent specification considering the asking price. A solid main camera unit, decent battery life, and ample power lead the charge. But there's a lot of competition out there, too, where subtlety presides as the greater success.

The Realme 8 Pro isn't a bad phone per se, but the competition is so far ahead in the finer details that it's a lot harder to make a case for it. The Realme 8 Pro leaves us with mixed feelings. There’s a lot to like about it… until you look at the segment the smartphone is catering to.
